BRISCOE AWARDS THIS SUNDAY AT 1 PM ET

PHILADELPHIA – After ten years of celebrating the biggest and best achievements of the Philadelphia-area boxing scene, the Briscoe Awards will change the timing of their annual event, from October to March.
“For a few years now, I’ve considered moving the awards up to the first part of the year,” said John DiSanto, founder of the Briscoe Awards.  “The original Fall time slot caused a lot of confusion, because by the time we gave out the awards, the fights were old news.  Moving to March will allow us to give out the awards shortly after the fight year ends.  I’m a little nervous about making a change, but in the long run, the move will only make the Briscoe Awards better.”
The Briscoe Awards honor the key fights and fighters of the Philly area every year.  A total of eleven awards will be give out  THIS SUNDAY MARCH 25TH AT 1 PM ET, which includes prizes for the “Philly Fight of the Year”, the “Philly Fight of the Year”, the “Knockout of the Year”, “Amateur of the Year”, “Rookie of the Year”, “Prospect of the Year”, “Performance of the Year”, “Photo of the Year”, and more.
The fighters being honored this year include Tyrone Brunson, Jaron Ennis, Kermit Cintron, Dylan Price, Avery Sparrow, Marcel Rivers, Raymond Ford, Jerome Conquest, and others.
Advance tickets for the March 25, 2018 Briscoe Awards cost $20 and are currently available for sale at BriscoeAwards.com, or by calling 609-377-6413.  Tickets will not be sold at the door.  The $20 admission includes food, draft beer, wine, soft drinks, and a souvenir program and ticket.  The Briscoe Awards will be held at the VBA Clubhouse, 2733 Clearfield Street, Philadelphia, PA, 19134.

JARON ENNIS IS THE ONE TO WATCH IN PHILLY

PHILADELPHIA – Twenty year old welterweight boxer Jaron “Boots” Ennis will honored as “The One to Watch” at the 11th Annual Briscoe Awards on March 25, 2018. Ennis, currently 18-0, 16 KOs, has been turning heads ever since he turned professional in 2016. After less than two years as a professional, Boots has convinced local boxing fans that he’s destined to become a world champion.
“Ennis has every Philly boxing fan excited,” said John DiSanto, founder of the Briscoe Awards. “He is the real thing and at the rate he’s going, he’ll be fighting for the title in another year.”
Ennis is no stranger to the Briscoe Awards. He won the “Amateur of the Year” two years ago, and was named the “Rookie of the Year” last year. He returns to the Briscoe stage on March 25th to receive his third acknowledgement by Philly Boxing History.
The Briscoe Awards commemorate the biggest and best accomplishments of the Philly-area boxing scene. NEWS FROM NOW BOXING PROMOTIONS & VICTORY BOXING PROMOTIONS

January 22, 2018 – Victory and Now Boxing Promotions’ prospects are staying busy in the new year. The promotions’ top prospect, Jaron “Boots” Ennis (17-0, 15KO) is back in action this Friday, January 26th in his hometown of Philadelphia. The 20 year old boxer, widely considered the best prospect in Philadelphia, will appear on the Real Deal Boxing card at Sugarhouse Casino. Brian Norman Jr., son of super middleweight Brian Norman (17-11, 5KO) of Atlanta, won in his professional debut in Houston on Saturday, and Christian Montano advanced to 4-0 (4KO) on the same card. All three fighters are managed by Cameron Dunkin and promoted by Chris Middendorf of Victory Boxing Promotions, and Joseph Dunkin of Now Boxing Promotions.

Welterweight Brian Norman, Jr., who is trained by his father, dropped Kire Lucas (0-3) with a body shot before finishing him with another body shot in one minute, 31 seconds of the first round. Montano also finished his opponent in the first round, stopping the experienced Keith Collins with a hook to the body, and straight right to the head at the 1:06 mark.

This Friday, “Boots” will face rugged Mexico City talent Gustavo Garibay (13-9, 5KO), who is the Mexican Super Welterweight Champion, and is a former WBC Latino Super Welterweight Champion. It’s the second fight in the United States for Garibay, his last being a loss to Zhankosh Turarov (22-0, 15KO) in Boca Raton.

Ennis, who trains with his father, former fighter Derrick “Bozy” Ennis in Philadelphia, last fought in December at the 2300 Arena, where he knocked out George Sosa inside of two rounds. The young pugilist is moving quickly, and fought nine times in 2017. Ennis is three months shy of his 21st birthday. Dunkin and Middendorf may not get him to 21 wins by his 21st birthday, but both feel certain that 2018 will be the real ‘coming out’ year for the young talent.

“We always like to have Boots fight at home,” said Victory Boxing Promotions founder and Promoter Christopher Middendorf. “He’s getting great experience with veterans like Garibay. This is the first champion-caliber fighter he’s faced, and we’ll get to see how he handles that. I’m hoping the Philly boxing fans get out to support him.”

Tickets for Friday’s event are available at Ticketmaster outlets and at therealdealboxing.com, and are priced at $125 and $50. Doors to The Real Deal Showcase Series I open at 6 p.m., and first bell is at 7 p.m.

Brunson – Woods to re-air on Saturday, January 6th on Eleven Sports

Philadelphia, PA (January 2, 2018) – This Saturday morning (2:30 am EST), Eleven Sports will air the replay of the December 1st action-packed boxing event that took place in front of a sold out crowd at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia.
The King’s Promotions event featured the continued ascension of world-ranked junior middleweight Tyrone Brunson.  Brunson stopped Manny Woods in eight rounds to capture the UBF International title.
The co-feature was a Philadelphia showdown of super middleweights that saw Brandon Robinson win a unanimous decision over Christopher Brooker for the UBF All Americas Super Middleweight title.
The show was kicked off with a scintillating performance by rising star Jaron Ennis as he took out George Sosa in two rounds.
There will be an announcement of future re-airings of this show.
Other bouts will be featured on the broadcast.

Philadelphia, PA (November 29, 2017) – They fought as amateurs, and are both considered among the best super middleweights in the city.
This Friday night, Brandon Robinson and Christopher Brooker meet as professionals in what could shape up to be an explosive co-feature bout of a 12 fight card at the

2300 Arena in Philadelphia.
The eight-round bout is for the UBF All-Americas title.
The loaded show is promoted my King’s Promotions.
The main event will pit Tyrone Brunson (25-6-2, 23 KOs) against Manny Woods (16-6-1, 6 KOs) of Saint Petersburg, Florida in a junior middleweight bout scheduled for ten rounds.
“Training has been great.  This has been the best camp that I have had since turning professional hands down,” said Robinson. 
Although this could be a breakthrough fight for 29 year-old Robinson, He has been looking at Brooker no different than any previous foe.
“I look at every fight as a big fight.  I see each fight as if I am fighting Canelo or Golovkin, so I get my self in the best shape I can be.”
Being that they are in the same city, there is the aforementioned history between the two fighters.
“We fought as amateurs, and I won that fight.  Since the, we have sparred a couple times, and that has given me a great scouting report on him, and let’s just say I feel very comfortable going into this fight.”
Fighting against another Philly fighter is nothing new for Robinson as he already has a victory over Lamont McLaughlin.
“I have been through this, and these kind of fights bring out the best of me, and with a winon Friday, this will open up many doors for me that I never expected to be opened.  I am looking for a complete performance,  The fans will see power in both hands, craftiness, ring generalship and a huge heart.  I just want to thank King’s Promotions, and I am looking to take home the UBF All-Americas Super Middleweight title.”
For the 26 year-old Brooker, he has been here before but he wants to get back in the win column after losing to undefeated Light Heavyweight Ahmed Elbiali in a fight that he took on short notice on July 18th.
“I got right back in the gym after that fight.  I been working for 12 weeks.  I have a new personal trainer Jermaine Clark and my new trainer Octavio Pineda,” said Brooker.
Brooker does not believe that the amateur loss to Robinson means anything going into Friday night.
“Yea, it does not mean anything.  It was my 3rd amateur fight.  The sparring sessions were good.  I treated them like I wanted to get some revenge for losing to him, and I am very confident after those sessions.  This fight for me is about getting this belt .  People will see me outwork him and outclass him.”
Brooker has made his name throughout the boxing circles with his willing to fight and defeat anybody at anytime.  That is evidenced by his wins over Leo Hall, John Magda, Antowyan Aikens and Gabriel Pham.  Brooker also stepped up to face Elbiali, Ronald Gavril and Ronald Ellis, and he became a favorite on national television because of his tough as nails style.
“Robinson is just another guy in front of me.  I been in and defeated much more experienced fighters then him.  He has not have anything that I have not seen in the ring.  I am not looking past him, I am looking through him.  I was beating Gavril before the fight was unjustly stopped.  He went on to barely lose in a bid for a world title and now he is getting a rematch with him, so that just shows what level I am on.  I want that rematch or (WBC Champion) David Benevidez.”

Philadelphia, PA (November 27, 2017) – Junior Middleweight Tyrone Brunson is looking for a major opportunity in 2018.
Brunson of Philadelphia will first need to get past Manny Woods this Friday night at the 2300 Arena in the ten-round main event of a loaded 12 bout card that is promoted by King’s Promotions.
The 32 year-old is coming off the biggest when of his career when he stopped former two-time world champion Kermit Cintron in five rounds.  The sure-fire Philadelphia Fight of the Year saw Brunson climb off the canvas twice before dropping Cintron three times in the pivotal round five.
“The fight fight gave me a lot of confidence,” said Brunson.  “To do what I did against Cintron who is a two-time world champion.  I am ready for Friday night.”
Despite not having a lot of knowledge of Woods, Brunson expects a great performance.
“I really don’t much about him, but I am not overlooking him.  I have  had a great training camp, and now I am just winding it down.”
“I am looking for a big year in 2018.  With a win on Friday, I am looking to face someone in the top ten or top fifteen, but the goal  is to be number-one in this stacked division.  I just want to thank my promoter King’s Promotions, the fans who have stuck by me, and even all the critics to that know that Tyrone Brunson is coming.”

Philadelphia, PA (November 7, 2017) – Top-prospect Jaron “Boots”  Ennis has been added to an already loaded card that will take place on Friday, December 1st at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia.
In the main event, exciting Tyrone Brunson will headline when he takes on Manny Woods in the ten-round junior middleweight main event.
The show is promoted by King’s Promotions.
Brunson of Philadelphia has a record of 25-6-2 with 22 knockouts.
The 32 year-old began his career in 2005 with 19 consecutive 1st round knockouts.
Brunson has wins over Jasmes Morrow (8-1-2), Brandon Quarles (18-3-2) and his last bout when he came off the deck twice to score a stunning 5th round stoppage over former two-time world champion Kermit Cintron (39-5-3) in 5 rounds at the 2300 Arena on June 24th.
The fight is a Fight of the Year candidate.
Woods of Saint Petersburg, Florida has a record of 16-6-1 with six knockouts.
The 30 year-old Woods is an eight-year professional, who has a win over contender Wilky Campfort (1-0), Sheldon Moore (3-0) & Elias Espadas (9-2).
In his last bout, Woods stopped Danny Pastrana in two rounds in a bout that took place on July 28th in Kissimmee, Florida.
In the exciting co-feature, hard punching super middleweight’s Brandon Robinson and Christopher Brooker will square off in a bout for the UBF Jr. Regional title that is scheduled for eight-rounds.
Robinson of Upper Draby, Pa. has a record of 7-1 with knockouts.
Robinson after dropping his pro debut to former National Golden Gloves champion Mike Hilton, Robinson has won seven in a row and most have come via explosive knockout, which includes a devastating 1st round stoppage over previously undefeated Brandon Clark.  In his last bout, Robinson took out George Sheppard in four rounds on September 29th at the 2300 Arena.
Brooker of Philadelphia has a record of 12-4 with five knockouts.
The 26 year Brooker turned professional in 2015, and has very impressive victories over Leo Hall (8-0), John Magda (11-0), Antowyan Aikens (10-1-1), Gabriel Pham (6-0), former world title challenger Elvin Ayala (28-7-1).  Brooker is looking to get back in the win column as he is coming off a stoppage defeat at the hands of undefeated Ahmed Elbiali on July 18th.
A stacked undercard is being lined up with some of the best fighters in the area in action.

ENNIS, LEE AND DARANYI BACK IN ACTION OCTOBER 14TH IN WASHINGTON DC

WASHINGTON, D.C. – September 28, 2017 – Three of Victory Boxing Promotions’ top prospects return to the ring on October 14th at Eastern Market National Hall in Washington, D.C., after seeing a very busy year to date.  Jaron “Boots” Ennis (15-0, 13KO), Brandun Lee (6-0, 5KO) and Adam Daranyi (12-0, 11KO) all look to keep the momentum moving as they enter the last part of the year.   The trio are managed by Cameron Dunkin.
Ennis and Lee both secured wins in Hammond, Indiana last weekend.  Ennis faced Lionel Jimenez in a scheduled six round bout that didn’t make it past the first round.  At 2:43 into the first round, referee Kurt Spivey called a halt to the action, protecting Jimenez from his formidable opponent.  Fellow welterweight Brandun Lee also made a quick night of it, stopping Anthony Crowder just over one minute into the first round after a fiery exchange of punches caused Crowder to take a knee. The bouts were the seventh and sixth, respectively for the Victory Boxing Promotions prospects.
Daranyi is also coming off a knockout win.  He stopped North Carolina veteran Andre Baker in the sixth round of their bout last July.
“This a great opportunity to catch a few of tomorrow’s champions on one card,” said Victory Boxing Promotions’ Founder and Promoter Chris Middendorf.  “We’ve kept them busy, and next year they will be looking at major TV network appearances.  These three are must-see talent.”

PHILADELPHIA – August 18, 2017 – Victory Boxing Promotions has found a new home in Philadelphia. The growing promotional outfit will make its return to the City of Brotherly love, and re-launch its Philly Strong series at the 23rd Street Armory in Rittenhouse Square, Philadelphia on October 21st.

The card will be headlined by Jaron “Boots” Ennis (14-0, 12KO), who has racked up an impressive six wins in 2017 alone. It was recently announced that Ennis, who is trained by his father Bozy Ennis, and managed by mega-manager Cameron Dunkin, will be honored at Philadelphia’s Briscoe Awards for the third time. He will take home 2016 Rookie of the Year honors, just days before he steps into the ring in front of his home town for the first time since June. After stopping veteran Wilfredo Acuna in the first round in that fight, Ennis has fought twice more – once in Durham, North Carolina, and once in Washington D.C.

“Without question, Boots is one of the best young fighters in the country,” said Victory Boxing Promotions Founder and Promoter, Chris Middendorf. “We have kept him extremely busy, fighting him 14 times since his debut on April 30th last year. We have done this because of his skills, and his rapid development. He has impressed each time we’ve put a challenge in front of him. We are considering several opponents for him for October 21st, all of whom will be solid tests.” Middendorf added that Boots would be fighting at least once more before October 21st.

Several other Victory Boxing prospects will showcase their talents that evening at 23rd Street Armory, including Adam Daranyi (12-0, 11 KO), who was a standout amateur and national champion in his home country of Canada. Korean-Mexican sensation and former amateur standout Brandun Lee (5-0, 4KO), who is coming off a 2nd round knockout win in DC last weekend, will fight at Philly Strong, and local favorite Joshua Jones (4-0-1, 2KO) will don his gloves in front of his home crowd. All three fighters are also managed by Cameron Dunkin, who has managed 34 champions in his 30+ years in the boxing business.

“We are very excited to re-launch Philly Strong at the 23rd Street Armory,” said Middendorf. “It is the oldest armory in the United States, and will be a great host for world class boxing. The Armory hasn’t seen boxing since 2003, and we plan on making October 21st a night to remember.

WASHINGTON D.C. – AUGUST 15, 2017 – Victory Boxing Promotions continues to keep its top talent in the ring, with Jaron “Boots” Ennis and Brandun Lee adding wins to their records Saturday at the historic Howard Theatre in Washington DC. In the co-main event, Ennis defeated veteran Ricardo Cano via stoppage 40 seconds into the first round of their bout, improving to 14-0, 12KO. Brandun Lee impressed on the undercard, stopping experienced journeyman Roy Garcia in the second round.

2017 has been an incredibly busy year for 20 year old Ennis, who fights out of Philadelphia. He’s racked up six wins, and it was recently announced that he would be awarded his third Briscoe Award in October. The Briscoe Awards are a staple of Philadelphia boxing, and Ennis will receive the Rookie of the Year award for 2016. The welterweight sensation kicked off his professional career in 2016, winning eight bouts under the Victory Promotions banner.Saturday’s fight was to be Ennis’ first eight-round fight, but it was clear from the opening bell that he wouldn’t see the eighth round.

On the undercard, 18 year-old junior welterweight Brandun Lee used his range and experience to wow fans at Howard Theatre, breaking down his opponent with speed and style. Favoring the overhand right, Lee had Garcia backing up the entire fight, and in the first round, even turned toward the crowd for a quick photo, much to fans’ delight. After one and half rounds of Lee’s precision and power, the referee stopped the fight in the midst of a barrage of unanswered punches.

“We are committed to keeping these young fighters busy, and getting them the experience they will need on a larger stage,” said Chris Middendorf, Promoter and Founder of Victory Boxing Promotions. “I’m excited to bring them both back to Philadelphia in October, and I think fans there are going to be impressed with how much they’re growing with all the experience they’re getting in these bouts. Most people who have seen them fight agree – they are both world champion material, and both are working hard to get there.”

Both Ennis and Lee will return to fight in Philadelphia on Saturday, October 21st. Both fighters are managed by Cameron Dunkin, who has managed 34 world champions over the course of his 30+ year career in boxing. “Both fighters will continue to stay busy throughout the fall in addition to their bouts in Philadelphia in October,” said Dunkin. “I am committed, as Chris is, to keeping our fighters learning and fighting, developing and advancing, until they reach their goals.”
