The Colon Cancer Alliance is a proud member of the National Health Council’s Standards of Excellence Certification Program.

 

“We’re committed to knocking out colon cancer,” said Allison Ornitz, Development Coordinator of the Colon Cancer Alliance. “The event with Baltimore Boxing is raising awareness and that gets us one step closer to fulfilling our mission. Colon cancer is largely preventable and when people get screened, we know lives are getting saved.”

 

Topping “Knock the Stuffing Out” is an exciting heavyweight battle between Baltimore Boxing’s Brian “Bam Bam” Haneschlager and Drew Ryan of West Virginia. Haneschlager is a heavy handed fighter with a large fan following in Maryland and Ryan is yet to lose, compiling a 7-0 Rekordo.

 

Baltimore Boxing’s Donald Wallace battles fellow Baltimorean Tyrell Boyd in the co-main event of the evening. Wallace, who continues to improve with every fight, lost a controversial decision to highly regarded Sharif Rahman last month at the Olympic Qualifiers in Philadelphia.

 

Multi time champion Joey “Bazooka Joe” Veazey, Courtney Hartlove, Allen Burris, Tommy Coe. Jr, Stefon McCray, Sean Veazy and Ernest Hall will each appear in separate undercard bouts.

 

More bouts will be announced shortly and Baltimore Boxing is also having canned food drive to make sure those unable to afford food will be able to enjoy their Thanksgiving. The food drive is being hosted by Merritt Park Baptist Church in Dundalk.

 

“It’s a pleasure to be back at Michael’s Eighth with some of our best talent,” said Jake Smith. “I’m proud to have the Colon Cancer Alliance working with us for this event and we’re going to help them raise funds and awareness on fight night. We’re really looking forward to putting on a great show for the community and sending them home happy for Thanksgiving.”

Baltimore, MD (Majo 27, 2015) – Jake Smith, CEO of Baltimore Boxing Promotions, and his family recently met with Baltimore City Police officials.

Smith, a longtime promoter in the Charm City and former professional boxer, was personally impacted by the riots as his gym was temporarily shut down. Having spent his entire life in and around Baltimore, Smith called the riots the worst thing he’s ever seen and feared for the safety of those that had neighboring businesses. Within a few days, order was restored due to an outstanding effort by the Baltimore PD.

During the visit, which included time with Chief of Staff Ganesha Martin and Commissioner Anthony Batts, Smith personally thanked them for their heroic efforts. He also donated tickets for his Majo 29 “Blood, Sweat & Tears” fight card at Michael’s Eighth Avenue to the department and will honor them during the evening.

During the recent Baltimore Riots, a number of officers were hit with rocks, bricks and others items while attempting to stop violent protests. Baltimore, MD (Aprilo 28, 2015) – As the rioters tear through the streets of Baltimore, MD, boxing promoter and gym owner Jake “The Snake” Smith remains extremely concerned for his friends, family and community. Like many other locals, Smith not only calls the Baltimore area his home but a place where he makes a living.

 

Having spent his entire life in and around Baltimore, Smith’s two children attend nearby schools and his Baltimore Boxing Gym is located on S. Broadway. For the safety of those that attend, Smith closed his gym yesterday and is keeping the doors shut today as well. Due the violent protests of Freddie Gray’s death, Smith isn’t positive when he will be able to continue training his boxers, many of whom use the Baltimore Boxing Gym as a resource to escape the preexisting dangers of the streets.

 

“In my forty-plus years in Baltimore, this is the worst thing I’ve ever seen,” Diris Smith, whose promotional efforts have helped many local organizations through raffles and donations. “We are all aware that there are issues with police brutality throughout the country and while I am extremely disappointed with the lack of prosecution following specific incidents, rioting only makes everything worse. I truly understand that emotions are at all-time highs in Baltimore and people want their voices to be heard but this is not the way to do it. Having worked with people from all walks of life, I wholeheartedly respect everybody’s point of view but I am pleading with the community as a whole to schedule peaceful and civilized meetings with city officials. This is the only way for everybody to get their thoughts and opinions out while hearing what the other side has to say. Riots are only going to tear apart and create further distance between police and citizens in this great city. I pray that everything calms down quickly and a resolution is met.”
