He previously held the WBO junior welterweight world title, the WBA welterweight world title, the WBO welterweight world title and the WBA super welterweight world title. Cotto is one of the biggest gate attractions in boxing and one of the largest pay-per-view draws among active fighters. Sa Hunyo 2014, Cotto made history in his first fight as a middleweight by dominating Argentine southpaw and defending WBC and Ring Magazine Middleweight World Champion Sergio “Kahibulong” Martinez. He is trained by legendary Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach and has fought some of the biggest names in the sport including Floyd “Salapi” Mayweather and Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao. Cotto owns his own boxing promotional company in Puerto Rico, Miguel Cotto Promotions, and presides over his charity La Fundación El Ángel de Miguel Cotto, a non-profit organization dedicated to combatting childhood obesity. Sa Marso 2015, Cotto and Roc Nation Sports announced that they had entered into a partnership that includes a co-promotional agreement with Miguel Cotto Promotions to promote Cotto’s fights. Sa Hunyo 6, 2015, Cotto defended his WBC, Ring Magazine and lineal middleweight world championships against former two-time World Champion Daniel Geale at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Cotto scored a thunderous knockdown early in the fourth round before finishing matters with a second knockdown midway through the round, which left Geale unable to continue. Sa Nobyembre 21, 2015, Cotto cemented his status as one of the biggest pay-per-view draws among active fighters in his much anticipated mega-fight against Mexico’s Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, despite going the distance for a twelve-round unanimous decision loss. Sa ubos mao ang unsa ang mga manggugubat, promoters and other dais guests had to say at the press conference:

Sergey “Krusher” Kovalev – WBO, WBA and IBF Light Heavyweight World Champion

“It’s a big moment in my career. I want to thank all of the people who are involved with this fight, my promoter Kathy Duva, Roc Nation and HBO Pay-Per-View. Thank you to all of my fans. It will be a fight to remember; one for the history books. I just want to give the fans a really great fight in Vegas and on HBO Pay-Per-View.”

Andre “S.O.G.” Ward – Two-Time World Champion

“I’m grateful to be here today. I want to thank everyone who is associated with this event—the good, ang dili maayo nga, the press, tanan niini. Obviously HBO, Pedro Nelson, Roc Nation, Main Events, everyone who’s associated with it. It’s hard to thank everybody. It’s a lot of people that you guys know of that worked on this fight to get it done. There’s a lot of different nuances that go into getting a fight like this done, but it’s done. That’s what we should all focus on.

“I thank God for this opportunity. I thank God for my career and being able to compete at a high level through the peaks and valleys. Sometimes that gets overlooked, a veteran in the game. I’ve paid my dues and I continue to pay my dues. This is just another opportunity. I’ve been in this position before and so has my opponent. It doesn’t matter what the other side says, how they feel, what they say. He’s got to get it done and I’ve got to get it done. When those bright lights come on who it’s all about who executes and who gets it done. I don’t have to throw chairs. I don’t have to cuss. I don’t have to act crazy. I said let’s fight, lets fight. You’re selling yourself. I know that what I possess and what I have is in me, and not on me.”

Kathy Duva – CEO, Main Events

"Sa katapusan. There was a time when fighters didn’t consider preserving their undefeated records to be paramount to engaging in actual competition. There was a time when undefeated fighters who were heading to the Hall of Fame actually sought out greater and greater challenges as their careers progressed. There was a time when fighters were courageous athletes and not simply cynical businessmen.

“The two men who are here with us today—both in their athletic primes, both unbeaten, ug, sa akong opinyon, both heading to the Hall of Fame someday—chose to put their 0’s on the line and face each other to find out just which one of them is the very best. That is why they deserve to earn your pay-per-view dollars, this is what pay per view is supposed to be. That is why we should move heaven and earth in order to come to the beautiful T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas where this fight will take place. That is why the winner will earn the title of best pound-for-pound fighter in the ring.

“Since Ring Magazine began to keep records of the pound-for-pound fighters there have only been two occasions when two unbeaten top five fighters have competed in the ring for pound-for-pound supremacy. The first was Meldrick Taylor vs. Julio Caesar Chavez Sr. sa 1994, the second time was Oscar De La Hoya vs Felix Trinidad in 1999. That means that on November 19th, this will be the very first time in the 21st century that such an event will occur in our sport. Let’s hope this is the start of something new, a throwback to the way boxing used to be when it was at its best. Let’s hope it doesn’t take another 17 years before this happens again. Let’s hope all the up and coming young sweet scientists learn and follow the example of these young great athletes who sit here today.

“So as I said, finally, I’m quite pleased to officially announce “Pound for Pound” and that on Sabado, November 19th, two of the five best fighters in the whole world will fight each other. WBO, WBA and IBF Light Heavyweight Champion Sergey “Krusher” Kovalev, nga mao ang 30-0, will risk all three of his world titles against two-time world middleweight champion Andre “SOG” Ward, who is also 30-0. The fight will take place in Las Vegas, sponsored by our friends at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino, at the beautiful new T-Mobile Arena. Tickets are available now, they’re starting at $155 right now because the box office has already sold out all of the $55 tickets we put on sale. You can only get these tickets at the T-Mobile box office and online through AXS.com. I’m happy to report that tickets at other prices are moving much faster than expected and currently there are very few left at the $755 price point and the $155 price point.

This will be live on HBO Pay-Per-View. The suggested retail price is going to be $54.95. It will be presented by Main Events, ROC Nation Sports, Krusher Promotions and Andre Ward Promotions. In addition to the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino, the fight sponsors will be Rosneft and Corona.”

NoTMobileNoMGM (2)

Oakland, SAMA (Aug. 6, 2016) – Sa Sabado, Nov. 19 the world’s best pound-for-pound boxer will be crowned. Sergey “Krusher” Kovalev (30-0-1, 26 KOs), the WBO, WBA and IBF Light Heavyweight World Champion, ug Andre “S.O.G.” Ward (30-0, 15 KOs) Two-Time World Champion, officially announced their long-awaited showdown following Ward’s victory over Alexander Brand at the conclusion of the live HBO World Championship Boxing® telecast Sabado night at Oracle Arena in Oakland. Kovalev vs. Ward will take place Sabado, Nov. 19. Ang maong kalihokan nga gihimo ug giapod-apod live sa HBO Pay-Per-View sugod sa 9:00 sa gabii. UG/6:00 sa gabii. PT and is presented by Main Events, ROC Nation Sports, Krusher Promotions and Andre Ward Promotions.

Kovalev and Ward are currently ranked the number two and number four pound-for-pound boxers in the world, sa tinagsa, by The Ring Magazine, making their hotly anticipated fight only the third bout in the history of The Ring Magazine pound-for-pound list to pit two undefeated top-five ranked pound-for-pound fighters against each other. Odds makers and pundits have this fight evenly matched at 50-50 and it is poised to be a sure-fire 2016 Fight sa Tuig kandidato. History will be made on Nov. 19th!

Making the fight even more intriguing, Kovalev and Ward are polar opposites. The Russian Wrecking Ball Sergey “Krusher” Kovalev is an unbeaten knockout artist sitting atop boxing’s light heavyweight division. With his ferocity in the ring and his charisma outside of it, Krusher is on his way to becoming the sport’s next big star. The last American man to win an Olympic Gold Medal in boxing, Andre “S.O.G.” Ward is already a future Hall of Famer. Nailhan alang sa iyang lig-on nga kinaiya ug kaligdong sa gawas sa singsing ug sa iyang manggugubat sa instinct sa sulod niini, Ward has not lost a fight, amateur or professional, since he was 12-years-old. Kovalev’s seemingly unstoppable offense-first approach stands in stark contrast to Ward’s slick, defensive style that has been an unsolvable riddle for every foe he’s taken on.

Neither man has faced an opponent like this before. Who will be the next “Pound for Pound” king? Find out Sabado, Nov. 19!

Live on HBO karong gabii, when asked about whether or not Ward is ready to face him Kovalev said, “I think he is ready. I am ready too. The fight against Chilemba was similar to how it is going to be against Andre Ward. He is a really great champion and he proved this today. I just want to say, ang ni sa pagbuhat niini Nobyembre 19 on HBO.”

Ward responded, “I am excited, sa usa ka. I am looking forward to it. I want to be the light heavyweight champion of the world. I got past this step. He got past his step. We will see you in November. I have been doing this for 22 years and if I am not ready to fight the best now then I will never be ready. I have been preparing for these moments since I been a kid. You got to respect Sergey for the way he has gotten to where he has gotten. He didn’t have any soft touches. He wasn’t protected. He wasn’t really pushed by the media. He is a guy who should get a lot more credit than he has. The winner of this fight could possibly be pound-for-pound #1.”

Additional details for the event, including ticket information, will be released shortly.

*The Ring Magazine began publishing pound-for-pound rankings in 1989.

Kovalev, the Russian Wrecking Ball, 33, has been dominating boxing’s light heavyweight division with his aggressive, fan-friendly style since his breakout performance against then-unbeaten Nathan Cleverly in 2013. His rise to boxing stardom has been meteoric, as he has gone from an unknown fighter from Chelyabinsk, Russia to headlining HBO Pay-Per-View in just four years after signing with his first promoter, Main Events. Out of of Kovalev’s 30 career mga kadaugan 26 have come by way of knockout. Dugang pa, he has entered into championship rounds only twice in his professional career. Kovalev has always sought to test himself against the best boxing has to offer; he wants to prove in the ring that he deserves that mantle.

Ward, 32, the last American man to win an Olympic Gold Medal in boxing (2004), reigned as the WBA Super Middleweight World Champion from 2009 sa 2015 while fighting mostly out of his hometown, Oakland, SAMA. He announced his intention to move to up to the light heavyweight division in search of a bigger challenge in 2015, shortly after signing with his current promoter, ROC Nation Sports. He has been a top rated pound-for-pound fighter since 2011. Ward is seeking to assume his place and leave a legacy at the top of the sport.

Verona, NEW YORK (Disyembre 19, 2015) – Ang 2015 boxing year culminated with a tremendous show at Turning Stone Resort Casino as WBA Interim Heavyweight Champion Luis “Ang Tinuod nga Hari Kong” Ortiz (24-0, 21 KOs) closed the show by maintaining his title with a knockout-of-the-year candidate over Bryant “Pinaagi sa – Pinaagi sa” Jennings (19-2, 10 KOs) in the seventh round of their scheduled bout live on HBO Boxing After Dark.
“Karon, there is a new era in the heavyweight division,” Ortiz, who landed a vicious uppercut to end the fight, miingon. “Jennings is fighter who deserves much respect, but he can tell you that I am a force in the heavyweight division. I am going to go out and obtain my objective. “I have been training for a big fight of this magnitude for three years. My strategy was to keep him at a distance and I was able to do that effectively with my reach and my jab. I will fight whoever next, whoever Golden Boy Promotions gives me I will take. Wilder, Fury, Klitschko anyone of them, I am ready to prove that I am the heavyweight world champion. A lot of people say a lot of things about me, but the testing showed that I am a clean fighter.
I wasn’t on my game, and he got the best of me,” Jennings said. “I didn’t adjust well and he was the better man.
The co-main event saw two Super Featherweightsformer WBA Featherweight and Super Featherweight World Champion Nicolas “Axe Tawo” Walters (26-0-1, 21 KOs) and Jason Sosa (18-1-4, 14 KOs) — wage a superb battle with both fighters landing tremendous sharp, accurate shots throughout the fight. While Sosa won the fight on one of the judge’s cards, the fight was ruled a draw as the two other judges had the fight even.
I am in total shock. I was never in any danger, never hurt,” Walters said. “[Sosa] mao ang usa ka maayo nga fighter — the kind of fight I wantedbut I thought I won all the rounds. So surprised this happened to me.
I thought I won and am disappointed it was a draw,” Sosa said. “Nagtrabaho ko sa lisud nga, I really thought I won the fight.
In the HBO Latino Boxing main event light heavyweight Vyacheslav “Lion Kasingkasing – Chigonsky” Shabranskyy (15-0, 12 KOs) kept his undefeated record intact slugging out a majority decision over Yuneski Gonzalez (16-2, 12 KOs) in an action-packed brawl that saw both fighters land huge shots throughout the fight.
This fight was the most important and most exciting fight of my career,” said Shabranskyy. I did feel a lot of Gonzalezpunches but I also feel like I hurt himespecially in the last round, he was beginning to sway. If I had a little more time I feel I would have knocked him out.
I knew that this was going to be a war and that is what we delivered tonight,” Gonzalez miingon. “We both gave it our all and didn’t let up. I knew that I needed to knock him out to win this fight but he was more resilient than I thought and didn’t open up enough for the knockout to happened. I did know the fight was very close and should have been a draw in my opinion. I would like the opportunity to fight him again and prove that I am the better fighter.
In the co-main of the HBO Latino broadcast, rising middleweight “Hari” Gabriel Rosado (22-9, 13 KOs) shook off some tough early rounds to earn a hard-fought unanimous victory against former IBF Welterweight World Champion Joshua “Grand Magtutudlo” Clottey (39-6, 22 KOs).
It has been more than a year since I have been in the ring so I did feel a little I the rust but I feel like this fight really helped me shake it off,” Rosado said. Clottey is a tough opponent, kanhi world champion, definitely a challenge for me in my first fight back. I delivered an entertaining fight tonight and I was happy with my performance. I am ready for my next big challenge, I would like a shot at Canelo [Alvarez] next.
Gabriel gave everyone a great performance today,” said Fernando Vargas, Rosado’s trainer. This was our first training camp together and I think we are going to keep growing and make great fights together.
This was an off night for me,” Clottey said. “I do think that the fans enjoyed the fightwe are both fighters that do not like to back down. Apan, I don’t feel comfortable at this weight class, I want to go back down to 154 and continue to fight at junior middleweight.
Opening the HBO Latino broadcast, former WBA and IBF Featherweight World Champion Yuriorkis Gamboa (25-1, 17 KOs) had all he could handle after a 13-month layoff, squaring off in a lightweight showdown against Hylon Williams Jr. (16-2-1, 3 KOs) sa Houston. Human sa 10 rounds of back-and-forth action, the judges awarded Gamboa a hard-fought unanimous decision.
It feels good to be back in the ring,” Gamboa said. “I trained in Cuba, and I feel that all the hard paid off. I was faster and stronger in the ring. I know I dominated the action tonight, I made sure he knew I was in control from the first round.
I felt good about the pace of the fight, I know I hurt him a few times,” Williams miingon. “This fight should have gone my way.
In a light heavyweight battle, rising prospect D’MitriusBig MeechBallard (11-0, 7 KOs) won a shutout unanimous decision against a game Fabiano “Pit Bull” Balhibo (11-4-1, 8 KOs).
I am glad I secured the victory today,” Ballard said. “[Balhibo] was able to go all six rounds with me, but I felt in complete control the entire fight. I think I am ready to step up to more rounds and bigger opponents. I am ready for the next big step of my career and this fight showed that. I want to thank Oscar and Golden Boy Promotions for the opportunity and I can’t wait for the next fight.
Sa pag-abli bout sa gabii, middleweight Steven “Ang Hitman” Martinez (16-2, 13 KOs) emerged with a second round TKO victory over Jorge “Destroyer” Melendez (28-6-1, 26 KOs). Martinez got off numerous combinations in round one and followed it up in round two with a sizzling left hook that floored Menendez. While Mendendez beat the count, Martinez quickly moved in, forcing the referee to wave off the fight at1:33 sa ikaduhang round.

Below is what the fighters had to say about as their training camp comes to a close this week.
Bryant “BYE BYE” Jennings, Former Heavyweight World Title Challenger:
The weather is warm out here in Florida, and John David Jackson is doing a great job as my new trainer. He’s a man that knows the fight game being that he was a fighter himself, a former world champion to be exact. The little things he’s showing me are making a big difference. I was happy that my promoter Gary Shaw came out to visit and see the progress I have made. We’re out here doing it. I believe I’ve become a better fighter, and it will show come fight night.
This is a big fight for the heavyweight division. The interim WBA World heavyweight title is on the line. The winner will move on to bigger and better things. Everyone says he has a lot of power but his opposition is suspect. He’s a big slugger and I’m a boxer that gives a lot of movement. I believe I’m the one with the better skills and better pro experience. I’m winning this fight.
I think it’s great. The sport needs to keep its integrity. Ortiz is a good fighter but he’s already shown that he has some insecurities. When a fighter gets caught cheating while using steroids to get an edge says a lot about that person. He paid his dues and now it’s time to fight. With VADA testing installed for this fight, everyone will be on an even playing field.
With Klitschko losing to Fury, ang heavyweight division mao ang halapad. There are a lot of hungry fighters out there ready to take charge and I’m one of them. I know I got what it takes to become a world champion. The heavyweight division is mine to be conquered.
LUIS “ANG TINUOD HARI kong” Ortiz, WBA Interim heavyweight World Champion:
I am ready physically and mentally for this fight, and I am going to come out to destroy my opponent. I have not been able to show off my condition and preparation in my last few fights, and this is my opportunity to show the world that I am the best. I have been ready for a world championship fight for three years and am ready for to go 15 rounds if needed.
This is the new era of the heavyweight division, and I am in the running to become the best in the world. I feel like I have the conditions to become a world champion; I have the power, speed and intelligence in the ring.
Jennings will be a difficult fighter, but I am also a difficult fighter. I have been physically prepared for this fight for three years.
NICHOLASAXE MANWALTERS, former WBA Featherweight and Super Featherweight World Champion:

My focus is to be the smarter fighter in the ring, to focus, to fire off more combinations, to take control of the fight. We know that Sosa is a hard puncher and he comes to fight.
This is an important fight for me because it is at 130 libra, which is a step up for me.

Training the right way is the proper way to prepare for such an important fight like this. I know the difference in this fight is will be my speed in the ring.

JASON SOSA, Super Featherweight Contender:
I have been working extremely hard on speed and angles because we know that Walters is flat footed and I want to make sure I have an advantage with movement on fight night.
We know that Walters is a tough fighter with an impressive record. He has beat Donair and Darchinyan which are both strong opponents. But we also believe that we are the bigger fighter being that this is his first fight at 130. He has never felt power like mine and I believe that will be my biggest advantage on Dec. 19.
Winning this fight would mean everything that we have been working on for the past five years is starting to pay off and will put me in a good position for a World Title next year.
YUNIESKI GONZALEZ, Kahayag heavyweight Nakigtigi:
Every aspect of my training has been elevated to be able to make a great impression. Shabranskyy applies basic combinations and I am a fighter that is more complex and will bring that advantage with me on fight night.
“Usa ka kadaugan sa Dec. 19 will keep me on the right track as I climb to the top of the mountain and establish myself as an elite fighter in the light heavyweight division.
I have focused on turning my punches over to maximize my power. I’m not going to give up too much information, but the world will see on Dec. 19.”
VYACHESLAVLION HEARTCHINGONSKYSHABRANSKYY, Kahayag heavyweight Nakigtigi:
The primary focus of this training camp has been to make sure my power and conditioning are the best they can become Dec. 19. I will finish camp knowing that I’m in the best shape ever.
Gonzales is an aggressive come forward fighter. He’s not the typical Cuban boxer, he is more of a ‘bangercome forward fighter which isn’t typical of Cuban fighters and I have made sure to prepare for that.
“Kini nga away, without question is the biggest fight of my career so far and is step closer to getting a shot at a world title. I’m a smarter fighter now. My team and I have a game plan in place, if I stick to that I believe the fight will be in my favor.
With every camp there is growth. Everyday I come into the gym the goal is to get better, in every single aspect- sa pisikal, emotionally, and spiritually. When there is a well-rounded growth it becomes easier to focus and devote myself to training, to be more willing to learn and to be taught.
KINGGABRIEL ROSADO, Former Middleweight World Title Contender:
My primary focus is to do everything Fernando tells me to do. I believe in his information and I’m confident that it will make me a better fighter.
This fight means a new beginning; it’s the second chapter of my career, and I believe it’s truly my time to shine. I know that Clottey is a defensive-minded fighter and will be looking to counter. Apan, I believe that I have the advantage. Ako manghud nga, mas paspas, mas lig-on, and I believe my ring IQ is better.
I’ve learned not to rush things, timing is everything. The focus and discipline has to be 100 porsyento. I believe that will show Dec. 19.”

JOSHUAGRAND MASTERCLOTTEY, Former IBF Welterweight World Champion:

This is another that and I approach it like all my other fights: I train hard, eat correctly, get my rest properly and win.
I know Gabe is very tough and always comes to fight so I expect a hard fight from him. I just will need to stay focused and I do what I need to in order to win.
I want to be a world champion again, and I believe my experience will help me be one again and know I can do that by winning this fight.
D’MITRUS BALLARD, Kahayag heavyweight Prospect:
My primary focus going into this fight has been to become a better fighter, a more complete boxer. I want to make sure that I show all of my talents, experience and growth in the ring. The focus, the intensity of my training has been stepped up, my entire camp has stepped it up and we are ready.
Winning this fight and advancing my record to 11-0 just means I’m one step closer to the goal a World Championships and putting people on notice that I am a threat in the light heavyweight division.
YURIORKIS GAMBOA, Former WBA and IBF Featherweight World Champion:
My primary focus for every fight is to get in the ring, get the job done in a way that I perform my best as a fighter, and the people paying for tickets go home happy with what they went to see. However for this fight I added another layer to that. I focus on proving to everyone that I still have what it takes to make it to the top.
Winning means a lot. But the real pudding in the cake is winning this fight the way I know I can win it. Putting up a show for the people and getting the ‘Wwould mean the world to me. I am at a stage in my career that I need to fight as often as I can. I have to win but I also have to put on a good show to bring more and more people in to watch me fight.
I think my experiences as a fighter are the only advantage I bring to this fight. Other than that, we are two hungry men with two arms waiting for this opportunity to shine.
I learned that boxing is a lot tougher outside of the ring than inside. I learned that we are not meant to be boxing forever and have to take advantage of every opportunity in front of us as if it were the last one. I am about to put that to use.
HYLONKID COSMOWILLIAMS, Lightweight Nakigtigi:
This training camp my main focus was to put myself in a great state of mind and grind hard as I could stress free. I know my opponents a veteran fighter that’s had a decorated career and he’s been on my boxing radar since 2008 when I became a professional fighter.
Winning this would be the door opener to the title shot I’ve always dreamed about and of course it’ll not only put a sock in people’s mouth but it’ll open the eyes to all my critics and have them see me in a new light.
My youth and knowledge of the fight game will carry me through this fight. Having the heart to take on a former world champion shows I have the heart of a lion to protect my record and not duck anyone.
