LAS VEGAS (Abril 5, 2017) – The Premier Boxing Champions series rolled into April with a hotly contested match between Edner Cherry and Omar Douglas on FS1 “MARTES TOE-TO-TOE” last night and will continue with an outstanding slate of shows, featuring matches in some of the deepest divisions in boxing.
“Premier Boxing Champions will present a busy schedule in April, involving prospects, rising stars and established champions,” dijo Tim Smith, Vice President of Communications for Premier Boxing Champions. “It’s the kind of schedule that contains matches for every type of boxing fan.”
The impressive run started with Cherry besting Douglas in a close and competitive super featherweight clash from Sands Bethlehem Events Center in Bethlehem, Pa., en “MARTES TOE-TO-TOE “on FS1 and FOX Deportes last night.

BELÉN, Pensilvania. (Abril 5, 2017) – El ex retador al título Edner Cherry (36-7-2, 19 KOs) ganó una decisión competitiva sobre Omar Douglas (17-2, 12 PRECIOS) en el evento principal deLiga de Campeones de Boxeo MARTES TOE-TO-TOE en FS1 y BOXEO DE CAMPEONES por FOX Deportes Martes noche desde el Sands Bethlehem Events Center en Bethlehem, Papá.
Cherry salió agresiva desde la campana de apertura., aterrizar un fuerte gancho de izquierda y hacer retroceder a Douglas temprano y, a menudo, durante las primeras rondas. Cherry of Wauchula, Florida has had a smooth camp while training in the Sunshine State and is ready for the 46th start of his professional start.
“Todo es bueno, and we will be prepared for everything on 04 de abril,” said the 34-year-old Cherry.
“En 04 de abril, whatever Douglas brings, we will be prepared for. This is not the first time, that I’ve been in this position. He is the guy who has to prove he can perform. I have been there before, so the pressure is on him.”
Cherry has been a top contender at both the 130 y 135 divisiones libra, and he even challenged for a world title at 140 libra. He believes there are many reasons that he has remained a viable contender who has only lost once in the last nine years and 13 peleas.
“I am motivated and I believe in myself,” dijo Cherry. “Those are the reasons that I am still here at the top of the 130 y 135 divisiones. My family gives me drive every day. 04 de abril will be another great fight. This is my job and I have to go out and do it well.”
Cherry believes a win should gain him another crack at a world title.
“A win definitely puts me ahead. It will open doors for better fights and better paydays. A title shot is what I want. But also a bigger money fight that will take care of my family.”
Douglas has been training at home in Delaware, has been working hard for this fight, which could be a breakthrough fight on the heels of his narrow defeat to former world champion Javier Fortuna last November.

Douglas believes that a win over Cherry is his path to a world title.
“I think that it is time. I just happen to be crossing paths with Cherry. This fight makes sense for me. I will let people know that I am player at 130 libra, and a win will earn me a title shot. I have shown that I will fight anyone. Look at the records of my previous opponents. Fortuna was 30-1 and one fight removed from being a world champion. Alexei Collado was 19-1; Frank De Alba was 17-1. So wins over those guys plus Cherry should have me right there, but I am focusing on Edner Cherry. The 29-year-old lost a narrow split decision in a middleweight world title fight against Kali Reis last April in New Zealand. Cornejo picked up two wins in the last three months of 2016 and will return seeking another world title opportunity on April 9.
Rounding out the night of fights will be former world title challenger Roberto Marroquin(25-4-1, 18 KOs) in a super featherweight bout, plus exciting prospect Alejandro Guerrero(2-0, 1 KO) en un combate a seis asaltos.

Always in action-packed fights and known for his exciting style and ability to triumph against the odds, López is coming off of a dominant decision victory over Todd Manuel in December 2016. Proudly representing Riverside, California, Lopez has fought at the highest level of competition for years including challenges of Andre Berto, Canelo Alvarez and Marcos Maidana plus triumphs over Victor Ortiz, Mike Arnaoutis and Mike Dallas.
Representing Agua Prieta, Sonora, México, Corral is the winner of 10 of his last twelve bouts entering April 9. The 30-year-old has fought professionally since 2006 and most recently went the distance in a 10-round decision loss to U.S. Olympian Sadam Ali. He won a Mexican title in July 2016 with a fifth-round stoppage of Francisco Medel and also challenged former champion Mike Alvarado amongst his 30 career bouts.
