BIRMINGHAM, AL (Xullo 17, 2016) – Premier Boxeo League televised action continued following the Raposo portion of the telecast as unbeaten rising welterweight contender Jamal James (20-0, 9 Kos) derrotado Wale Omotoso (26-3, 21 Kos) por decisión dividida (97-92, 96-94, 93-96) no principal evento de 10 rolda de Premier Boxeo League en FS1 and FOX Deportes Legado de Arena, en Birmingham, Alabama.
The second televised bout on FS1 and FOX Deportes featured Mexico’s Sergio Frias(18-6-2, 9 Kos) knocking out former world champion Vic Darchinyan (42-9-1, 31 Kos) na segunda rolda (2:45) of their junior featherweight bout.
Here is what the fighters had to say following their fights:
Jamal JAMES
I didn’t want to get into a slugfest with him because I knew I had to get those points back (after getting dropped in the first round). I knew I had to make him pay for those misses. I was able to get points off that in the second half of the fight.
He was throwing some wild shots. I just had to adjust to that. I felt like my defense was good on the inside.
His shots were coming wide, and I was catching those from the inside. The second half of the fight I definitely came on hard and was putting on pressure. We waited so long that I think it might have had a little effect on my energy.
I thought I out boxed him esta noite and deserved the decision. I believe that it was close, so I have no problem with the judges ruling it a split decision, pero eu gañei.
I’d definitely fight him again. I have to be able to beat guys like him, and in better fashion, if I want to be a champion.
Inicio Omotoso
Look at me and look at Jamal James. Look at my face and tell me who won. When they announced the decision everyone booed.
I don’t know what’s going on. Maybe it’s because I’m from Africa. I don’t know.
I want to fight again as soon as I can. I’ll fight whoever. Eu non me importa quen é. I’ve been asking for a fight for nine months. I stay in the gym. I’ll go in the gym mañá. O boxeo é a miña vida.
I dropped this kid and I hurt him. I beat him up. I’ll rematch him any time, or fight anyone else. It doesn’t matter to me.
VIC DARCHINYAN
It was the first time that I’ve been knocked out in my 25 years of boxing.
He just caught me. I think it was a counter right hand.
I know I threw a punch and he just caught me. I can’t believe that happened.
SERGIO FRIAS
He’s not a technically sound boxer, so I knew if I just stuck with technique and boxed him that I would catch him.
I wanted to land the right hand, but I wanted to be careful because he has a lot of power.
I wasn’t really looking to land that particular punch, but I did, and I ended it.

SAN ANTONIO (Maio 29, 2016) – O ex campión do mundo Miguel “Títere” Vázquez (36-5, 13 Kos) defeated Ecuador’s Erick Ósea (16-4, 8 Kos) in a 10-round battle that headlined Premier Boxeo League en FS1 e FOX Sports Sábado night from the Dancehall in San Antonio.
The former champion from Mexico worked behind a strong jab and brought the fight to Bone throughout the main event. Bone was able to return fire and was effective at times when countering.
The jab of Vazquez eventually led to success with the right hand that was able to hurt his opponent and keep the battle-tested Bone from building momentum.
Both fighters landed at a nearly identical rate as Vazquez connected on 22 percent of his punches while Bone landed 21 por cento. Con todo, it was Vazquez with the advantage in punches landed at 94 para 74.
The fight featured many close rounds, which was reflected by the varied scores of the judges. Ao final, all three had the fight for Vazquez by scores of 99-91, 97-93 e 96-94.
No co-main event, rising featherweight Miguel Flores (20-0, 9 Kos) kept his record perfect as he defeated Mexican veteran Ruben Tamayo (26-9-4, 18 Kos) in their 10-round bout.
Facing a southpaw for the first time as a professional, Flores had some trouble early with the game Tamayo who was able to penetrate the defense of the 23-year-old with left hands while also opening a cut with an accidental head butt in round two.
As the fight went on Flores showed improved movement and a variety of effective punches that allowed him to take control of the fight. Most notably, Flores used a bruising left hook to the body that left Tamayo marked up and slowed down his offense.
Both fighters threw over 550 punches but it was Flores who out landed his opponent 175-121. The judges rewarded the still undefeated fighter with the unanimous decision by scores of 100-90 e 98-92 dúas veces.
Here is what the main event fighters had to say Sábado:
MIGUEL VAZQUEZ
I wanted to throw the heavier punches because I thought I could win by knockout, but that didn’t happen. There was an overhand right in the eighth round that I thought hurt him badly.
He was an elusive fighter and survived, so there are still things that I have to work on.
There was some difficulty adjusting to the late opponent switch, but overall, sen problemas. I had been sparring southpaws as well as right-handers.
If I could have followed up on some of the hooks and overhand rights, I could have gotten him out of there.
I’ve always wanted to fight Adrien Broner. I want to make that.
Erick óso
Vazquez was awkward and hard to fight. I gave it my all in there.
I’m thankful for the opportunity and I’m looking forward to getting back in the gym and working on some things before I return to the ring.

CARLTON, MN. (Maio 18, 2016) – Unbeaten cruiserweight contender Murat “Ferro” Gassiev (23-0, 17 Kos) scored a sensational knockout victory over Jordan Shimmell (20-2, 16 Kos) no evento principal de Premier Boxeo League Martes toe-de-toe en FS1 e Boxeo League na Fox DeportesMartes night from Black Bear Casino Resort in Carlton, MN in the Otter Creek Event Center.
Gassiev delivered a powerful left hook that put Shimmell out on the mat and halted the cruiserweight title elimination bout immediately at 2:54 da primeira quenda. Shimmell was able to move effectively for much of the round and had landed an early combination that got the attention of Gassiev.
The Russian fighter, who now trains in California with Abel Sanchez, was able to start working through the defense of Shimmell with his jab as the round wore on. The final blow came after Gassiev imitated a right hand and delivered the critical left hook while Shimmell was caught counter-punching.
The co-main event of the night saw local favorite Joey “Minnesota Ice” Abell (32-9, 30 Kos) deliver a dominant performance in knocking out previously unbeaten Wes Nofire (19-1, 15 Kos) in their heavyweight showdown.
The former title challenger bothered Nofire early and often from his southpaw stance and was successful with his left hand throughout the fight. Abell snuck in a strong right hook in round two that stunned Nofire before he delivered multiple left hooks to score the early knockdown.
Nofire tried to weather the storm but a big right hand from Abell again put Nofire down early in the third round. Nofire almost made it out of the round but Abell’s power in the left hand proved to be too much as a series of strong shots sent Nofire down for the final time before his corner stopped the fight.
Abell could hardly miss as he connected on 42 percent of his punches on his way to the stoppage at 2:12 da terceira rolda.
Na loita de apertura, St. Louis heavyweight Stephan Shaw (7-0, 5 Kos) earned a shutout unanimous decision over Washington, D.C.’s Danny Kelly (9-3-1, 8 Kos) in their six-round bout.
Shaw controlled the action with superior boxing skills and strong combinations throughout the fight. Kelly had some success targeting the body of Shaw but was unable to maintain a consistently effective attack.
The punch stats were in line with the judgesscores of 60-54 as Shaw out landed Kelly 95 para 56 while connecting at 34 percent mark to Kelly’s 23 por cento.
Aquí está o que os loitadores tiñan que dicir Martes:
MURAT GASSIEV
I was trying to set up the final punch. I imitated the right overhand so that I could come back with the left hook. It was a combination that we practiced.
It wasn’t the most powerful punch but I snapped it pretty well. I was ready to keep going but that punch was enough.
I’ve trained hard and been improving my skills. I’m going to work and get ready for my title shot.
I am extremely happy he got up and I hope he is okay. I never want to hurt anybody; I just want to win the fight.
JORDAN SHIMMELL
“Eu fun pego. Gassiev has power. It was a clean shot and I got hit, Isto é o que é.
He’s a really good fighter with power. I’ll be back. It was a learning experience.
JOEY ABELL
I did this for myself. I wanted so see where I was at. I’m a different fighter when I have time to train.
I’m going to give it some time to think about the next step. Right now I want to fight for the rest of my life, but if I got beat It would be different.
This is exactly what I planned. I thought I might get him in the first round but I took my time. My punches were sharp. There were times in the past where I felt my timing was off but I’m in great shape so I wasn’t thinking about getting tired.
WES NOFIRE
I just didn’t get the shots I was looking for. I thought I was going to be able to back him up more with my jab. He stayed his distance and lunged in from out of range.
One of the head butts caught me pretty good and I just couldn’t see what he was coming back with.
The head butts were giving me problems and he followed up on me after them. He was a little stronger than I expected but I’ve been hit hard like that by other fighters.
“Estou decepcionado. I trained really hard for the fight. I’ve never had a problem taking power before. It’s just one of those things that happens in everybody’s career, but I’ll be back.
STEPHAN SHAW
I felt great in there. It felt good to be victorious in my first fight on PBC. I fought a guy with a lot of experience and did what I had to do.
I’m the best kept secret in America. That’s my motto.
DANNY KELLY
I started too late. I was working behind my jab but I didn’t do enough behind it. Eu dei todo de min.
He only hurt me once, with a right hand in the fourth round. I didn’t think he had speed but I should have start earlier.

SAN ANTONIO (Xaneiro 13, 2016) – Miguel Flores (19-0, 9 Kos) derrotado Mario Briones (27-5-2, 20 Kos) por decisión unánime (98-92, 100-90, 100-90) in a 10-round contest on the Premier Boxeo League (PBC) Martes toe-de-toe en FS1 e Boxeo League en FOX Sports tarxeta da loita Martes night from the Dancehall in San Antonio.
Flores opened up the bout establishing the left to the body of Briones. Loitando fóra de Houston, TX, Flores controlled much of the action in the first, but Briones used his experience and had a nice exchange with Flores to close out the round.
Briones charged back hard in the second though, landing a left in the opening minute of the round that seemingly shocked Flores. Flores threw punches furiously trying to push Briones back and maybe even end it early.
Flores used much of the third and fourth to settle in and land heavy lefts to the body, clearly establishing himself as the stronger fighter. During the action, Briones suffered a cut that opened up over the left eye.
Briones, making his U.S. estrea, was the victim of a low blow early in the fifth and took a few moments to regain himself. As the fighters continued, Brionescut opened more.
Flores, who was also showing signs of a small cut over his left eye, opened the round controlling the action in the sixth. Con todo, Briones showed no quit and fought back to regain his confidence and advance to another frame.
The seventh round saw both fightersleft eyes gush blood as the pair threw shots furiously, hoping to end the contest. Flores was hit below the belt, but both fighters showed tremendous will as they survived to extend the fight. The eighth went on as Flores and Briones exchanged toe-to-toe blows in the center of the ring.
Briones, who appeared to control the pace and distance for much of the ninth, had lots of success landing on the inside. But as the round came to a close Flores fought back refusing to be denied.
Flores opened up the tenth landing a determined double left to the body. Os loitadores’ heads collided shortly after the start of the round, causing both to take pause. Briones seemed the more seriously hurt of the two after the incidental head butt, but both elected to continue, taking the fight the distance.
The opening televised bout featured undefeated light heavyweight prospect Ahmed Elbiali (14-0, 11 Kos) winning an eight-round unanimous decision (78-74, 77-75, 77-75) sobre Andrew Hernández (10-4-1, 2 Kos).
After finding their distance, both landed heavy blows in the first. Elbiali managed to connect on a big left hook as the opening frame came to a close.
Hernández, coming off just two weeks of rest, looked sharp in the second round, landing his right repeatedly. But Elbiali came right back back with another left hook.
In the third, Hernandez controlled much of the round from the outside, backing up Elbiali with the jab to set up combinations. Hernandez landed a shot that seemingly stunned Elbiali and then followed with a flurry to close out the round.
Hernandez carried his momentum over into the fourth and used his experience to make things difficult for Elbiali. Elbiali stalked Harnandez, hoping that the big shot would connect, but failing to land on the big one. As the round came to a close, Elbiali ate another big right hand.
Elbiali, a native of Cairo, Egypt, came out aggressive in the fifth and then stunned Hernandez early in the sixth. Elbiali landed a flurry of punches before Hernandez was able to gather himself and continue. Elbiali, knowing he had Hernandez close, tried to end the fight, but Hernandez survived the punishment.
Both fighters showed signs of tiring as the seventh round wore on, and Hernandez seemed to let a fight that was well within his grasp slip away. More of the same continued in the final round of the bout as Elbiali showed his skill and confidence. Hernandez reminded Elbiali that they were still in a fight, landing a one-two with :30 left, but Elbiali proved too much for Hernandez.
The second televised bout showcased undefeated welterweight Bryant Perrella (13-0, 12 Kos) getting a technical knockout win over Ramon Ayala (23-6-1, 11 Kos) só :10 in to the third round.
Perrella was able to stun Ayala early and continued to use his left to back Ayala down. Perrella kept his distance in the first, staying calm and balanced. A frustrated Ayala retaliated landing a couple of blows after the bell.
The second round saw Perrella control the action, breaking Ayala down and getting the better of the exchanges while landing combinations throughout.
Ultimately the barrage of punches early on was too much for Ayala who retired between rounds before the start of the third.
Below is what the televised fighters had to say about their performances tonight:
MIGUEL FLORES
The game plan was to box. In the middle rounds I fell asleep and fought a little too much on the inside, but we got the win tonight.
My speed and my youth helped me get the victory tonight. My footwork was also very important in getting the win.
The the only thing that frustrated me was I couldn’t knock him out. I thought I was going to get him out of there, but it was a great learning experience for me.
Tons of people just saw who I am and how I fight. I want to thank PBC and FS1 & FOX Deportes for allowing me this opportunity to make a name for myself and help grow our sport.
I don’t want to call anyone out, but I’m going be back to work soon. The featherweight division is going to mine, and by the time I get my shot at a title I’m going to be ready for the best.
AHMED ELBIALI
Things never go like we anticipate. My plan was to feel him out a bit more, but I hurt my hand in the first round. I don’t want to make any excuses, but I was hoping to be able to box him a little more.
My biggest advantage tonight was my size, youth and power. He had the experience though, and he looked decent in spots.
He was a smart veteran. He clinched a lot and did some things that crafty veterans know how to do.
Fighting on a PBC card boosts my profile and is great for my career. I’m looking forward to my next PBC fight card.
I really just want and need to improve with every fight. That’s all I can worry about. I’ve got to get this hand feeling better, but then work on making the adjustments to be better next time out.
ANDREW HERNANDEZ
I planned on stopping him. He’s a much bigger guy. I’m a natural middleweight, but it was a great chance to fight a quality fighter.
I felt like I could have stepped on the gas a bit more, worked more on the inside. We also know that he’s a dangerous guy though, so you have to be careful.

I thought that I did enough to win, but obviously the judges didn’t agree with me. I think the fans who watched think that I won, but I’ll be back.

BRYANT PERRELLA
I really wanted to just go in there and flow tonight, not rush to knockout. I was hoping to establish my jab and win round by round.
The work and training that I put in got me here and helped me get the win tonight. I eat, sleep and breathe boxing. My strength, power and speed helped me a lot tonight.
He jumped in and hit me a few times with his head, so that made me a little hesitant to get in there on the inside.
Being able to fight on a BPC card is a blessing. Being able to do what I love to do, this is just a dream come true fighting on FS1 & FOX Sports.
I’d love to face some of the guys that I had strong fights with in the amateurs, Errol Spence Jr. being one of them. We have some unfinished business that we’ll have to take care of in the future.
