John Thompson reflects on Boxcino semifinal win and looks forward towards the final on May 22

Newark, NJ (Abril 21, 2015)— Baño “Apollo Kidd” Thompson has begun preparations for his Maio 22 Boxcino final bout against Brandon Adams. (17-1, 12 KO).

Said Thompson’s promoter, Vito Mielnicki of GH3 Promotions, “I believe we are longer, been in tougher and the better boxer. Brandon is a good fighter but I think he is too green. I know he had a brief amateur career and he could be too green for John.”

We have a lot of heart in Detroit. I’m ready for a big fight. I got him with a step-back overhand right. I wish they had let it go a little longer. I wanted to finish him, but the bell went off.”

Connecticut fan favorite, Mexican-born Danny Aquino (17-2, 10 Kos), upset previously undefeated Massachusetts featherweight Ryan “O príncipe polaco” Kielczweski (22-1, 6 Kos) by way of an eight-round split decision in an entertaining co-feature event for New England bragging rights. The aggressive-fighting Aquino kept coming forward throughout the fight, as Kielczweski effectively counter-punched. Neither fighter was remotely hurt in the action-packed clash of gifted boxers.

 

Aquino defeated Kielczweski the one time they fought in the amateurs. “Because of his record,” Aquino commented, “this was the biggest win of my career. It was extra special winning my first ESPN fight, moi. I think my aggressiveness was the difference. He was moving around and I had to keep putting pressure on him to make it my fight, not his fight. I hope this fight will give me opportunities and I’ll take the best.”

 

“It was definitely a tough fight,” Kielczweski noted. “Making weight definitely took a lot out of me. I think I boxed well, landed the harder shots and blocked most of his. I guess the judges likes his aggression, but I thought I won the fight.”

Unbeaten middleweight Alantez “SlyAza” Raposo (15-0-1, 5 Kos), fighting out of Maryland, outclassed Dominican invader Franklin Gonzalez (16-14, 10 Kos) on his way to a second-round technical knockout, trapping his opponent against the ropes and unloaded a barrage of unanswered punches until referee Harvey Dock suspendeu a acción.

Filadelfia (Marzo 31, 2015)–É menos de dúas semanas lonxe das semifinais da Boxcino 2015 Heavyweight e JR. torneos medios, que terá lugar o venres á noite, 10 de abril e realizarase no Sands Casino Resort en Belén, PA.

 

O show será transmitido en directo pola ESPN Friday Night Fights coas loitas Boxcino semifinal con inicio ás 9 PM ET.

 

Todas as loitas semifinais están programadas para oito roldas.

 

Na división dos pesos pesados, Andrey Fedosov (26-3, 21 KO) vai asumir Lenroy Thomas (19-3, 8 KO). Fedosov is coming off a first round pounding of Nate Heaven while Thomas won a 7-round drawbreaker over former U.S. Olímpico Jason Estrada.

ESPN Reaches Multi-Year Agreement to Televise Premier Boxing Champions Series

PBC na ESPN to Air 12 Two-hour Live Shows Annually on ESPN and ABC

Marzo 18, 2015 – ESPN will televise Premier Boxeo League, unha serie creada para a televisión por Haymon Boxeo, con alto nivel loitas entre moitos dos maiores nomes do boxeo. Fedosov, Cojanu, Dennis and Thomas
Verona, Nova York (Febreiro 22, 2015)—Andrey Fedosov, Donovan Dennis, Lenroy Thomas e Razvan Cojanu all scored victories in their quarterfinal bouts in the Boxcino Heavyweight tournament at the Turning Stone Resort Casino.
The show was promoted by Banner Promotions and was broadcasted live on ESPN’sVenres Night Fights.
All Boxcino bouts were scheduled for 6 rounds.
Dennis took out previously undefeated Steve Vukosa in round four.
Dennis dominating Vukosa
Dennis was the much quicker fighter from the outset and landed hard shots on Vukosa from early on. En tres rounds, Dennis dropped Vukosa from a hard combination. Vukosa was never the same as he was staggered a few more times and even looked like he had no defense as he tried to turn his back several times on Dennis until he was dropped again in the fourth round and the fight was stopped at2:52.

In round one, Fedosov dropped Heaven with a thudding left hook. He sent him to the canvas for a 2nd time with a devastating three punch combination that sent Heaven to the deck for a second time and the fight was stopped at 2:53.

Fedosov of Los Angeles via Russia is now 24-3 con 21 nocautes. Ceo, 227 lbs of Ocla, FL. é agora 9-2.
“Everything went as planned,” said Fedosov. “My plan was to shorten the distance and use my power and you see what happened.”
Razvan Cojanu won a drawbreaker decision over Ed Fountain.

Cojanu, 265 lbs of Las Vegas via Romania is now 13-1. Orixe, 236 1/2 lbs of Furguson, MO is now 10-1.

“I could not see anything and I won the fight with one eye,” said Cojanu.
“Buddy McGirt told me to jab more and that could have made it easier.”
Said Fountain, “I fought hard. The referee did not help me but I will see Razvan again after the tournament.
Lenroy Thomas opened up the Boxcino quarterfinals with a drawbreaker decision over former U.S. Olímpico Jason Estrada.
Each guy traded some good shots over the first two-plus rounds. Thomas landed a solid three punch combination in round three. Estrada was effective when he was able to get in the straight right.

“In the extra round, I had to dig deep and show my boxing skills.”
Thomas will meet Fedosov in one semifinal while Dennis will battle Cojanu.
