Bute also hopes to become the first Romanian-born boxer to capture world titles in two different weight classes as the Bute-Alvarez winner in this final WBC eliminator will become the mandatory challenger for his GYM stablemate, reigning WBC and lineal light heavyweight champion Adonis “Superman” Stevenson (28-1-0, 23 Kos).

“It is a very good opportunity for me, fighting a good opponent who is very popular, especially in Canada,” the odds favorite Alvarez said. “He’s is a southpaw, like Stevenson, plus it’s also a good opportunity for me to rise my popularity. And with all due respect to Bute, someone unable to beat Bute doesn’t deserve a shot at Stevenson.
“Our fight will probably be a boxing chess match, but because of the local angle, at some point our fight will turn emotional. I will retire Lucian Bute for good February 24th!”

Romania-born Bute (32-3-1, 25 Kos), who is a Canadian citizen living in Laval (Canada), held the IBF 168-pound division title for nearly five years (Oktober. 19, 2007-Maj 26, 2012), when the wildly popular southpaw ranked among the top pound-for-pound fighters in the world.
Bute has a sterling 10-2-1 (8 Kos) record in world title fights and he has defeated six world champions: Dingaan Thobela, Saki Taurus, Alejandro Berrio, William Joppy, Brian Magee in Glen Johnson.
The WBC No. 7-ranked Bute will celebrate his 37th birthday four days after his fight with Alvarez. All three of his pro career losses have been to world champions: Jean Pascal, Carl Froch in James DeGale.
The 32-year-old Alvarez (21-0, 10 Kos), boj iz Montreala, is a native of Colombia, where he was a decorated amateur, capturing a gold medalist at the prestigious 2007 Pan-American Games, in addition to being a 2008 Olympian in Beijing, Kitajska.
“Storm” moved to Montreal and turned pro in 2009. He went on to become North American Boxing Organization (NABO) and North American Boxing Association (Prav tako) light heavyweight champion. V 2014, he stopped previously undefeated Ryno Liebenberg (16-0) in the seventh round of their fight in Monte Carlo to capture the WBC Silver 175-pound division championship, which he has successfully defended twice, both by 12-round decision, proti Isidro Prieto Ranoni (24-0-3) and former world title challenger Isaac Mark.
Now ranked No. 1 by the WBC and No. 4 s Ring magazine, Alvarez’ most recent fight was last month, in which he won a 10-round unanimous decision over Norbert Dabrowski (19-5-1) v Montrealu.

MONTREAL (November 1, 2016) – The “GYM 2016-2017 BOXING SERIES” at the Montreal Casino Cabaret, a PRESENTATION OF MISE-O-JEU, IN COLLABORATION WITH VIDEOTRON, will host its second card of the 2016 season and 50th since 2004 ON Sobota, December 10. A real challenge for Dicaire
The charismatic Marie-Eve Dicaire (5-0, 0 Kos), of St-Eustache, Canada, will fight in the co-main event of the evening. She will face the biggest challenge of his career against former North American Boxing Federation (NABF) welterweight prvak, Mehiška Paty “La Elegante” Ramirez (11-2, 5 Kos).
Zanimivo, the two boxers are ranked 11th in the world by the WBC: Dicaire at welterweight (147 lb), Ramirez at super welterweight (154 lb).
Marie-Eve will look to continue her strong momentum in the pro ranks. In her last outing (Oktober. 20), she delivered a stunning performance, also at the Montreal Casino Cabaret, where she clearly feels at home. She then defeated Mexican Karla Zamora (3-2-0) s soglasno odločitvijo.

He first became Canadian middleweight champion June 28, 2014, in Lachine, by winning a unanimous decision over Paul Bzdel (5-4-1) from Saskatchewan. He then won his IBF International middleweight title in a furious fight last Januar 30 against Quebecer Renan St-Juste (26-4-1) at the Bell Centre, which many consider the Fight of the Year.
Lafrenière is currently on a nine-fight win streak. He counts on extending it to 10 na December. 10. His opponent will be announced within days.

GROUPE YVON MICHEL’S TOP FIGHTERS JOIN VADA/WBC CLEAN BOXING PROGRAM

MONTREAL (Avgust 10, 2016) – Groupe Yvon Michel’s (GYM) world-ranked boxers have enrolled in the new VADA/WBC Clean Boxing Program (CBP), created by Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA) and the World Boxing Council (WBC).
Adonis Stevenson, Lucian Bute, Eleider Alvarez in Artur Beterbiev will now participate in a serious new protocol in which they may be blood and/or urine tested anytime, 365 days per year. They must be available at all times for an unexpected test.
All of the WBC champions and WBC top 15-ranked fighters have until September 9 to conform to the new protocol or they will be removed from the WBC rankings and suspended from any activity in the WBC.
”This is a step in the right direction but what will really be important in the next few years is for this structure to always keep improving in order to properly regulate professional boxing,” trener Marc Ramsay je dejal.
”Na srečo, boxing is rarely the target of doping cases, but tightening the rules can only be beneficial to prevent tempted athletes to follow the wrong path,” added GYM vice-president, operations and recruitment, Bernard Barré.

Quebec (Julij 30, 2016) – Svetloba svetovni prvak v težki kategoriji Adonis “Superman” Stevenson (28-1, 23 Kos) delivered a highlight reel knockout victory over Thomas “Top Dogg” Williams Jr. (20-2, 14 Kos) in the fourth-round of an exciting main event showdown on Premier Boxing prvakov na Spike Petek night from Centre Videotron in Quebec City, Canada.
“It was a firefight,” said Stevenson. “He put pressure on me so I decided to put pressure on him too. It was a fight with two guys who could punch and it was spectacular. It was my daughter’s birthday and I gave her a great gift.”
The defending champion Stevenson, fighting in his adopted hometown, put Williams down in round one with a straight left hand. Williams was able to recover and began to fire back in round two. Vendar, Stevenson’s jab consistently sent Williams backtracking, while Williams abandoned the jab and attempted to cut the distance with power punches from difficult angles. Williams staggered the world champion several times, using an effective counter right hand while getting the best of many exchanges.
Both men were hurt in an exciting third round that saw momentum swing in each man’s favor before the bell rang to end the round. A cut opened up over the left eye of Williams in the end of the round that was tended to in his corner. Williams hit the canvas as a result of a low blow early in the fourth, but regained his footing shortly after.
The notorious power puncher Stevenson eventually landed the deciding blow of the night when he caught Williams’ chin hanging in the pocket and delivered a straight left hand that put the challenger to the floor. Washington, DC area-native was unable to recover, prompting referee Michael Griffin to stop the bout 2:54 into the fourth round.
Additional televised action saw rising middleweight contendersImmanuel Aleem (16-0-1, 9 Kos) in Demond Nicholson (17-1-1, 16 Kos) fight to a majority draw in their eight-round bout.
Neither fighter was able to control of the fight with Nicholson attempting to use his length and jab while Aleem tried to cut the distance and attack with short punches. Nicholson appeared to have the more effective attack in the early rounds, while Aleem began to have more success as the fight shifted to toe-to-toe action in the second half of the fight.
Sodniki’ scores reflected the close nature of the fight as one judge had it 77-74 for Aleem while the other two judges had it a 76-76 sestavi.
The televised opener saw Eleider “Storm” Alvarez (20-0, 10 Kos) keep his perfect record intact with a unanimous decision victory over New Zealand’s Robert Berridge (27-5, 21 Kos) in a 10-round light heavyweight affair.
“I am happy with the win, but I would have liked a knockout! He was tough, but he did not hurt me at all and I thought that I hurt him. I am ready for my next challenge, which will hopefully be a world title fight.”
The top-rated contender for Stevenson’s title, Alvarez established his jab early on while attacking the body of Berridge with right hooks. Alvarez continued to control the fight from a distance as Berridge was slow to begin increasing his output before he started putting the pressure on in round five.
The southpaw Berridge was able to land occasionally on Alvarez with a looping left hand, but never put the undefeated fighter in danger. Alvarez began to have more success varying up his attack with right uppercuts and hooks that eventually left Berridge’s right eye swollen and bruised.
Alvarez took home the decision by scores of 99-90 in 98-92 dvakrat.
PBC on Spike was promoted by Group Yvon Michel (GYM).

WBC Silver light heavyweight champion Alvarez will face New Zealand southpaw slugger Robert “The Butcher” Berridge (27-4-1, 21 Kos).
The Alvarez-Berridge co-feature, predvidoma 10 rounds at a 180-pound catch-weight, will air on Spike TV V Združenih državah Amerike. Named “The Butcher” because of his aggressive style and power, the 31-year-old Australian sputhpaw has won the several regional titles during his pro career including New Zealand (2013 in 2015), WBC Asia (2013), PABA (2013-2014) and WBO Oriental (2013-2014).

MONTREAL (Julij 19, 2016) – Former lineal Word Light Heavyweight champion“Bad” Chad Dawson (34-4, 19 Kos) will not face Eleider “Storm” Alvarez (19-0, 10 Kos) in the co-main event on “SHOOTOUT,” headlined by the light heavyweight world title bout between defending champion Adonis “Superman“ Stevenson (27-1, 22 Kos) in Thomas Williams Jr. (20-1, 14 Kos), Julij 29 pri Centre Videotronv Quebec. The 34-year-old Dawson, fighting out of New Haven, Connecticut, injured his shoulder during training camp.
“While we were waiting for Chad Dawson to join the planned conference call today (Torek), we learned from his manager that he injured his shoulder in training, and that he has withdraw from his July 29th fight against Eleider Alvarez,” Groupe Yvon Michel (GYM) Predsednik Yvon Michel je dejal.

Alvarez, the reigning WBC Silver light heavyweight champion and World Boxing Council (WBC) Ne. 1-ranked light heavyweight, will still fight on the July 29th kartice.

“We are already looking for a replacement opponent so Eleider retains his spot on Spike TV,” Michel dodano.
