Bute also hopes to become the first Romanian-born boxer to capture world titles in two different weight classes as the Bute-Alvarez winner in this final WBC eliminator will become the mandatory challenger for his GYM stablemate, reigning WBC and lineal light heavyweight champion Adonis “Devni selèb” Stevenson (28-1-0, 23 Ko).

Alvarez was already Stevenson’s mandatory challenger, sepandan, he agreed to put everything on the line in a risky confrontation with former IBF super middleweight champion Bute, as opposed to waiting until later this year for his title shot with Stevenson. In addition to being well compensated, Alvarez had several other reasons to accept this immense challenge against Bute.
“It is a very good opportunity for me, fighting a good opponent who is very popular, especially in Canada,” the odds favorite Alvarez said. “He’s is a southpaw, like Stevenson, plus it’s also a good opportunity for me to rise my popularity. And with all due respect to Bute, someone unable to beat Bute doesn’t deserve a shot at Stevenson.
“Our fight will probably be a boxing chess match, but because of the local angle, at some point our fight will turn emotional. I will retire Lucian Bute for good February 24th!”

Romania-born Bute (32-3-1, 25 Ko), who is a Canadian citizen living in Laval (Kanada), held the IBF 168-pound division title for nearly five years (Oct. 19, 2007-Me 26, 2012), when the wildly popular southpaw ranked among the top pound-for-pound fighters in the world.
Bute has a sterling 10-2-1 (8 Ko) record in world title fights and he has defeated six world champions: Dingaan Thobela, Saki Taurus, Alejandro Berrio, William Joppy, Brian Magee ak Glen Johnson.
The WBC No. 7-ranked Bute will celebrate his 37th birthday four days after his fight with Alvarez. All three of his pro career losses have been to world champions: Jean Pascal, Carl Froch ak James DeGale.

In his only fight outside of Poland, Dabrowski delivered a strong opposition May 2, 2015 to German Dominic Boesel (18-0), losing by a close 10-round unanimous decision (113-115, 111-116, 110-117) to a rival who was then and remains the World Boxing Organization (WBO) #2 rated light heavyweight in the world, osi byen ke # 8 the WBC.
Alvarez, a Colombian Olympian at the Beijing Games, he won the WBC Silver light heavyweight title August 25, 2014 in Monaco, defeating South African Ryno Liebenberg (16-0-0). I want to be fully ready for Adonis Stevenson and become the first Colombian light heavyweight champion of the world!,”
This coming fight will most likely be Alvarez’ last outing before fighting Stevenson, the WBC light heavyweight world champion in 2017. Dabrowski is a strong and durable southpaw, who will be an excellent test for Alvarez before he faces the champion.

“Waiting for his world title fight, Eleider is not afraid to risk his lofty position in the rankings to give himself the best conditions for success when his time comes. A real challenge for Dicaire
The charismatic Marie-Eve Dicaire (5-0, 0 Ko), of St-Eustache, Kanada, will fight in the co-main event of the evening. She will face the biggest challenge of his career against former North American Boxing Federation (NABF) wèltèr chanpyon, Meksiken Paty “La Elegante” Ramirez (11-2, 5 Ko).
Enteresan ase, the two boxers are ranked 11th in the world by the WBC: Dicaire at welterweight (147 lb), Ramirez at super welterweight (154 lb).
Marie-Eve will look to continue her strong momentum in the pro ranks. In her last outing (Oct. 20), she delivered a stunning performance, also at the Montreal Casino Cabaret, where she clearly feels at home. She then defeated Mexican Karla Zamora (3-2-0) pa desizyon inanim.
If she is successful, it will be her last six-round fight before moving to an eight- round bouts in February.

Lafrenière and Phinn also in action
If the Alvarez and Dicaire fights weren’t enough to guarantee a very entertaining evening Dec. 10, also scheduled to fight on the card are two very popular boxers in Quebec, Francis
Lafrenière ak Shakeel Pen.
Lafrenière (12-5-2, 7 Ko), the charismatic International Boxing Federation (IBF) International middleweight champion, will make his debut at the Cabaret du Casino. Surnommé, “The People champ,” Lafrenière is known for his aggressive and uncompromising boxing style.
He first became Canadian middleweight champion June 28, 2014, in Lachine, by winning a unanimous decision over Paul Bzdel (5-4-1) from Saskatchewan. He then won his IBF International middleweight title in a furious fight last Janvye 30 against Quebecer Renan St-Juste (26-4-1) at the Bell Centre, which many consider the Fight of the Year.
Lafrenière is currently on a nine-fight win streak. He counts on extending it to 10 sou Dec. 10. His opponent will be announced within days.
“I had my first pro fight here at the Montreal Casino and I had a draw,” the optimistic Lafrenière commented. “Thanks to GYM for giving me the opportunity for redemption. I had a solid brawl with Renan St-Juste, but I am ready to deliver another one this bout.”
Pen (10-1, 6 Ko), the Canadian super middleweight champion,is a familiar face to the Casino boxing fans. A protégé of former boxer Ian MacKillop, he won his title last Feb. 27 in Saskatchewan by defeating Paul Bzdel (5-7-1).

GROUPE YVON MICHEL’S TOP FIGHTERS JOIN VADA/WBC CLEAN BOXING PROGRAM

Monreyal (Out 10, 2016) – Groupe Yvon Michel’s (GYM) world-ranked boxers have enrolled in the new VADA/WBC Clean Boxing Program (CBP), created by Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA) and the World Boxing Council (WBC).
Adonis Stevenson, Lucian Bute, Eleider Alvarez ak Artur Beterbiev will now participate in a serious new protocol in which they may be blood and/or urine tested anytime, 365 days per year. They must be available at all times for an unexpected test.
All of the WBC champions and WBC top 15-ranked fighters have until Septanm 9 to conform to the new protocol or they will be removed from the WBC rankings and suspended from any activity in the WBC.
”This is a step in the right direction but what will really be important in the next few years is for this structure to always keep improving in order to properly regulate professional boxing,” antrenè Marc Ramsay di.
”Erezman, boxing is rarely the target of doping cases, but tightening the rules can only be beneficial to prevent tempted athletes to follow the wrong path,” added GYM vice-president, operations and recruitment, Bernard Barré.
”I am fully in favor of these new measures so all of us in the program will be playing on the same plain field,” remarked Stevenson, the WBC world light heavyweight champion.

QUEBEC CITY (Jiyè 30, 2016) – Limyè pwa loud chanpyon nan lemonn Adonis “Devni selèb” Stevenson (28-1, 23 Ko) delivered a highlight reel knockout victory over Thomas “Top Dogg” Williams Jr. (20-2, 14 Ko) in the fourth-round of an exciting main event showdown on Premier boksè chanpyon sou Spike Vandredi night from Centre Videotron in Quebec City, Kanada.
“It was a firefight,” said Stevenson. “He put pressure on me so I decided to put pressure on him too. It was a fight with two guys who could punch and it was spectacular. It was my daughter’s birthday and I gave her a great gift.”
The defending champion Stevenson, fighting in his adopted hometown, put Williams down in round one with a straight left hand. Williams was able to recover and began to fire back in round two. Sepandan, Stevenson’s jab consistently sent Williams backtracking, while Williams abandoned the jab and attempted to cut the distance with power punches from difficult angles. Williams staggered the world champion several times, using an effective counter right hand while getting the best of many exchanges.
Both men were hurt in an exciting third round that saw momentum swing in each man’s favor before the bell rang to end the round. A cut opened up over the left eye of Williams in the end of the round that was tended to in his corner. Williams hit the canvas as a result of a low blow early in the fourth, but regained his footing shortly after.
The notorious power puncher Stevenson eventually landed the deciding blow of the night when he caught Williams’ chin hanging in the pocket and delivered a straight left hand that put the challenger to the floor. Washington nan, DC area-native was unable to recover, prompting referee Michael Griffin to stop the bout 2:54 into the fourth round.
Additional televised action saw rising middleweight contendersEmannwèl Aleem (16-0-1, 9 Ko) ak Demond Nicholson (17-1-1, 16 Ko) fight to a majority draw in their eight-round bout.
Neither fighter was able to control of the fight with Nicholson attempting to use his length and jab while Aleem tried to cut the distance and attack with short punches. Nicholson appeared to have the more effective attack in the early rounds, while Aleem began to have more success as the fight shifted to toe-to-toe action in the second half of the fight.
Jij yo’ scores reflected the close nature of the fight as one judge had it 77-74 for Aleem while the other two judges had it a 76-76 trase.
The televised opener saw Eleider “Tanpèt” Alvarez (20-0, 10 Ko) keep his perfect record intact with a unanimous decision victory over New Zealand’s Robert Berridge (27-5, 21 Ko) in a 10-round light heavyweight affair.
“I am happy with the win, but I would have liked a knockout! He was tough, but he did not hurt me at all and I thought that I hurt him. I am ready for my next challenge, which will hopefully be a world title fight.”
The top-rated contender for Stevenson’s title, Alvarez established his jab early on while attacking the body of Berridge with right hooks. Alvarez continued to control the fight from a distance as Berridge was slow to begin increasing his output before he started putting the pressure on in round five.
The southpaw Berridge was able to land occasionally on Alvarez with a looping left hand, but never put the undefeated fighter in danger. Alvarez began to have more success varying up his attack with right uppercuts and hooks that eventually left Berridge’s right eye swollen and bruised.

Monreyal (Jiyè 19, 2016) – Former lineal Word Light Heavyweight champion“Move” Chad Dawson (34-4, 19 Ko) will not face Eleider “Tanpèt” Alvarez (19-0, 10 Ko) in the co-main event on “SHOOTOUT,” headlined by the light heavyweight world title bout between defending champion Adonis “Devni selèb“ Stevenson (27-1, 22 Ko) ak Thomas Williams Jr. (20-1, 14 Ko), Jiyè 29 nan la Centre Videotronnan Quebec City. The 34-year-old Dawson, fighting out of New Haven, Connecticut, injured his shoulder during training camp.
“While we were waiting for Chad Dawson to join the planned conference call today (Madi), we learned from his manager that he injured his shoulder in training, and that he has withdraw from his July 29th fight against Eleider Alvarez,” Groupe Yvon Michel (GYM) prezidan Yvon Michel di.

Alvarez, the reigning WBC Silver light heavyweight champion and World Boxing Council (WBC) Èske Pa. 1-ranked light heavyweight, will still fight on the July 29th kat.
