Here is what Vasquez Jr. had to say about training, his matchup against Collazo and more:
On his upcoming opponent, Luis Collazo:
This is a very challenging fight but one I believe I can win. Now that Collazo is one hundred percent healthy, I know he’s going to be at his best. We both are trying to get back on top so the fans can expect a great fight.
On his recent training camp:
It’s been a great training camp. We got a lot of good southpaw sparring and I feel sharp going into this fight. All the preparation has been done and now it’s time to fight. I’ll be at my best come fight night.
On what he learned from his first defeat:
It was a tough loss in my last fight with the late sub Felix Diaz. Although we fought another southpaw, our game plan was for Collazo, who is a totally different style. In this game, I must be prepared for any style that comes my way. I know that now and I’ll be fully prepared for anything that Collazo brings.

On what a win will do for his career:
A win against Collazo will get me right back in the mix of things in the welterweight division. With only one loss on my record, I feel I still have a lot to give to this sport. A victory will open up a path to fight for a world title.

Sena ke seo le bahlabani a se buang Tuesday:
SAMMY VASQUEZ JR.
Luis Collazo is a really tough opponent. He’s always game. It doesn’t matter who he fights. I always enjoyed watching him growing up because he’s quick, strong and savvy.
This is a fight I’ve been looking forward to. Collazo has fought everyone and he always gives a great fight. I couldn’t have thought of anybody better to have a great fight on television against. Everyone who knows the two of us, knows we’re going to come to fight.
He’s never really been knocked out, just the mishap in the Thurman fight. Collazo hurt Thurman, and that’s a guy in his prime. Collazo isn’t in his prime, but age is just a number in this sport.
We’re prepared. We know he’s a southpaw just like my last opponent. We were originally supposed to face him before Felix Diaz stepped in. The game plan is for me to dictate how this fight goes. I have to set the pace and control it.
As long as I can control the fight, it’s smooth-sailing for me. I know he’s got a hard head and he’s going to come forward, so I think it’s going to be an exciting fight.
Luis Collazo
Sammy is a tough fighter. He’s been moving up in the ranks and faced some decent opposition. We’re both lefties and I think it’s going to be an explosive fight.
This is another tough fight for me. I’ve been in there with the top guys and everyone knows I’m going to give it my all. I’m grateful to be back in this position. There are great fight fans here in Mississippi and I’m going to give them something to cheer about.
I’m blessed to be able to do what I love to do and I do it with passion and drive. I hope everyone enjoys what happens ka Thursday bosiu, because I know I will.
I’ve been in this game for 17 years as a pro. I’ve seen every type of fighter. We’ll find outLabone night how much I have left. Sometimes fighters can get counted out, but people don’t understand what’s going on behind the scenes. My preparation for this fight was great and we’ll find out Labone if it translates to the ring.
YORDENIS UGAS
“Ke batla ka thabo ho ntoeng ena. I hope to give a great performance and continue on my way toward a world title.
I’ve had a perfect training camp and I’m prepared to get a victory. This is my time to make another statement to all of the top fighters in the division. I’m ready for any challenge.
LEVAN GHVAMICHAVA
I’ve worked very hard in training camp to prepare for this fight. I’m excited to be here and have this opportunity to give the fans a great show.
I’m going to give it my all in the ring and make sure I walk out of there with the victory. I know that I have a tough opponent, but I’m confident in my training and my skills.

One of Brooklyn’s most respected fighters,Collazo looks to make the most of his showdown with Vasquez on February 2. A world champion in 2005, Collazo has faced top fighters his whole career. Ugas returned from a two-year layoff in August and has looked sensational in defeating undefeated prospects Jamal James by decision and Bryant Perrella by fourth-round stoppage. A sensational Cuban amateur, Ugas picked up a bronze medal at the 2008 Olympics and also owns gold medals from the 2005 World Amateur Championships and 2007 Pan American Games. Trained by Virgil Hunter in California, Ghvamichava is originally from Poti, Georgia. Ramirez was determined to be the busier fighter, but it was Watts who scored the first big blow of the night when he caught Ramirez with a right uppercut that dropped his opponent for the first time in his career.
The Chicago-born prospect stepped up the attack after the knockdown and began to dominate the fight with his work rate and body punching. The jab was another effective weapon for Ramirez and it allowed him to navigate the distance and push Watts against the ropes.

Ho tswa ho ho bula tšepe, Barrios asserted himself as the aggressor, landing his jab at will and finding his distance early.
Barrios o ile a re, “Initially my game plan was to work the jab and see what would open (Boschiero) ka. But as the rounds went by he didn’t seem like he was going to come at me. He just didn’t seem to want any action.

A pota tse tharo, Barrios regained control and coasted throughout the middle rounds, largely due to Boschiero’s hesitation to engage.
It was pretty frustrating. I came out to put on a show for the fans, and unfortunately it seemed like my opponent was just trying to survive,” O ile a re Barrios. “I can try to press the fight all I want, but if he doesn’t want to fight it’s not going to happen.
Boschiero, who challenged for a world title in 2011, a phaella ka, “I had trouble finding my range tonight. He was tougher to hit than I expected.
In round 12, Barrios scored the only knockdown of the fight, but Boschiero was able to get back to his feet and used the final seconds of the fight to execute his best combination of the night.
I got to him in the final round,” said Boschiero. “But the opportunities were there when they weren’t in previous rounds.
A victorious Barrios said, “This was my first 12-round fight, and it felt good to get the experience, I just wanted more intense action. But an ESPN main event takes my career to the next level. I’m just hoping for my shot at the title.

Ramírez, a Chicago Golden Gloves champion, settled in early and controlled the bout from the outset. Ramirez said, “I felt like I was in control and like I was getting hit a lot less than he was.
In the third frame, the fighters locked up for a thrilling exchange on the ropes, Ramirez landing the harder of the punches.
A frustrated Roman said, “He was landing a lot of combinations, but he never hurt me.
Ramirez opened up the fourth round with a furious flurry, but Roman fought back with a hard left hook of his own, shocking Ramirez.
He did catch me with a couple of clean hooks when I let my defense down,” acknowledged Ramirez. “That was my fault, but nothing that hurt me very bad.
The middle stages of the fight saw Ramirez, the busier more precise fighter, steadily distance himself on the judges’ scorecards.
I was prepared for tonight because I had a really long training camp,” said Ramirez. “I’ve been ready to fight since mid-June. I was just in great shape.
Roman didn’t seem as game and admitted, “I gassed out a little bit in the end. I haven’t fought in a year and I think some of my struggles tonight were due to that. My timing was off a little bit too.
Roman didn’t give up though, landing a barrage of shots near the close of round nine, reminding Ramirez that he was in for a fight. Leha ho le joalo, it was too little too late as Ramirez coasted to a comfortable victory.
Ramirez concluded, “”Fighting on ESPN is like a dream come true. E le e tsenwe, I always envisioned myself on this network. So this feels like a great accomplishment, and I’m leaving with a lot of new fans tonight.

Mario BARRIOS
“Training e 'nile ea e khōlō. We trained in Las Vegas for a large portion of this camp. We had some good runs at 7,500 feet of elevation and I feel very ready for Moqebelo.
Boschiero is a tough fighter with a lot of experience. He has gone the distance plenty of times and I am ready to face the best version of him ka moqebelo.
Headlining on ESPN and ESPN Deportes is a blessing. I grew up watching the fights on ESPN and knowing that I am the main event is a dream come true.
DEVIS BOSCHIERO
We had a very good training camp. Everything went smoothly and I had great sparring. I couldn’t have asked for a better camp.
Barrios is a very good prospect and very tall for the weight. We will see what he has ka moqebelo. We’re prepared for everything and the plan is to test him throughout the fight.
I am very proud to be fighting on ESPN and I am hoping to give the American public a great fight. I am taking this one step at a time. Moqebelo will not be an easy fight. Ka molemo ka ho fetisisa motho hlola.”
EDDIE RAMIREZ
“Sena ke ka monyetla o moholo. It’s really a dream come true. When I was young. I envisioned fighting on ESPN and now here I am. I am and ready and anxious to just get in the ring and fight. I’m on weight and ready to go.
“Training ile hantle haholo. I have been ready to fight for weeks. Roman has a decent record and people tell me that he is a good fighter, but I haven’t seen anything of him.
JESSIE ROMAN
My father passed away in May and that is my motivation for this fight. He started me in boxing from when I was six-years-old all the way until I was 22.
I do not know much about Ramirez other than that he is undefeated and he has a lot of power. We are ready mentally and physically for him.
This is a big opportunity for me to fight on ESPN. It’s great exposure. Keep your eye out for me, I am going to become a world champion.
