LAS VEGAS, NV (Október 30, 2017)As his November 4th date approaches, unbeaten super-lightweight prospect, 18-year old phenom, Devin “The DreamHaney (17-0, 11 KO), shares his thoughts on training camp and more, as he prepares for his fight withHamza Sempewo (14-8, 7 KO) of Kampala, Uganda.
Haney vs. Sempewo, 8-round bout, will take place at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis Hotel in Atlanta, GA, and serve as the co-main event to heavyweight’s, Devin “The General” Vargas (19-4, 7 KO) Toledo, Ohio, proti. Galen “Zlý chlapec” Hnedý (44-38-1, 25 KO) St. Joseph’s, Missouri.
Here is what Devin Haney, the WBC Youth World Lightweight title holder, had to say ahead of his November 4th meranie síl:
On his recent training camp in Las Vegas
I’m constantly grinding in the gym, trying to get better. No one is working harder than me. I’ve been working closely with The Body Snatcher” Mike McCallum, and he’s showing me some old veteran tricks. I’ve been sparring with all the top fighters in Las Vegas, getting that good work. I feel strong going into this fight. I’m in great shape.
On having his father William Haney guiding his career
My dad is great and he’s always by my side every step of the way. He comes from the music industry, where he was very successful, so he knows how to build a star. I’m very grateful to have him in my corner. Together we are a force in the boxing world, and I know with hard work, I’ll be the next super-star in boxing.
On the importance of staying active
It’s very important to stay active in boxing, because in this sport, its all about that live action. Fighting with no headgear and smaller gloves is a big difference as opposed to sparring. The more fights I can get under my belt, the better I’ll be when I hit the big stage.
On fighting in Atlanta, Georgia for the first time
Atlanta is a major city and I’m going to give the fans in attendance a fight they’ll remember for years to come. Fighting in the South is a great opportunity to expand the Devin Haney Promotions brand. I want to fight in as many big cities as possible.
On the state of the super-lightweight division
The super-lightweight division is stacked with a lot of great fighters. Terrance Crawfordsits atop the division, a pre mňa, he’s one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world. I’m on my way up and I’m confident in my ability to become a world champion. I’ve been in the ring with Floyd Mayweather, Shawn Porter and a lot of other great fighters, so my confidence is extremely high. I’m gunning for everyone in the division. I know I can get down with the best of them.

Hernandez shocks Magomedov John Vera stops Joey Ruelas Teenage sensation Devin Haney shines

(all pictures by Manny Murillo / Rjj Boxerské Promotions
LAS VEGAS (Máj 21, 2016) – Determined Phoenix middleweight Andrew “Hurikán” Hernandez shocked heavy favorite Arif “The Pedator” Magomedov in tonight’s main event on the “Knockout Night at the D” karta, which aired live on CBS Sports Network from under the neon lights at the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center (DLVEC) outdoor venue.
The “Knockout Night at the D” séria, predlozeny D Las Vegasand DLVEC, je podporovaná Roy Jones Jr. (RJJ) Boxing Promotions. Tonight’s event was promoted in association with Main Events and Shamo Boxing Promotions.
Before a sold-out crowd, Hernandez (12-4-1, 4 KO) pounded world-rated middleweight Magomedov (17-1, 10 KO), winning a unanimous 10-round decision (100-89 dvakrát, 98-91) for the vacant USNBC middleweight title. Hernandez hurt Magomedov in the third and seventh rounds, finally dropping the tough Russian (WBA #2, WB) #3, WBA #5 and IBF #14) v 10th.
This fight changes everything for me,” Hernandez proclaimed. “He’s very good and deserves all of the accolades he’s received but I now have my head on straight and I’m focused. My jab was very important tonight. He’s very strong but I wanted to fight him inside because I knew he couldn’t take it from me. Bol som veľmi pripravený. I think I may have broken my ankle in the fourth round but I kept going. I wanted to finish him, get the knockout, but he’s a very tough fighter. He has heart and showed why he has all of those accolades.
Four weeks ago, Hernandez was preparing to fight as a cruiserweight. He lost 40 pounds to make weight for this middleweight fight in what turned out to be one of the biggest upsets of the year.

Southpaw super welterweights John “The Phenom” Vera (14-0, 9 KO), of Fort Worth, and PhoenixJoey “Boxer” Ruelas (10-2-1, 4 KO) went toe-to-toe from the opening bell and they never let up in the co-feature. Vera exploded in the round of this firestorm, battering the game Ruelas around, until referee Jay Nady halted the action in the sixth round. Vera remained undefeated and retained his NABA-USA title.
I knew eventually he’d put his hands down and I’d catch him,” Vera explained. “I thank him for the opportunity to fight. He’s helluva fighter, I give him that, but I know I’m a warrior. I took some shots but gave ’em, tiež. I broke him down and just kept throwing those lefts.

Nady stopped the fight without counting when a badly hurt Vargas (4-1, 3 KO) hit the deck hard.
I happy that I put on a good performance for my fans,” Haney commented after the fight. “My team put together the strategy to use my jab and breakdown his body. I picked up my combinations did what I was told to do.
