The co-main event of the evening will feature an interesting “coach vs. 教練” 戰鬥. “防碎2.0” 德里克·肖雷 (4-7), head of the Shatterproof Combat Club, is scheduled to face Ruthless MMA & Boxing founder 喬什·帕克 (4-8) in a professional featherweight contest. Shorey is coming off a big win in Rhode Island earlier this fall, while Parker will be returning to the MMA cage after spending the last three years competing as a boxer.

 

Rounding out the professional portion of the card will be undefeated prospect 亞倫 “狠” 萊西 (3-0) 和 Taylor Trahan (6-6) 在輕量級回合. Lacey and Trahan both submitted their respective opponents at “NEF 25” 上個月. Many local followers of the sport feel that Lacey is just a handful of wins away from getting the call to the major league of the sport. Trahan will be looking to play the role of spoiler while also avenging the loss of his Team Link teammate John Santos (3-5) to Lacey in Bangor this past August.

 

The amateur portion of the card will be headlined by a heavyweight title fight between 缺口 “The Guardian” 歐智華 (3-0) 和 Yorgan DeCastro (2-2). DeCastro stepped up to the plate to face Gulliver when no other heavyweight in the region would do so. Gulliver has been on a path of destruction, ripping through three opponents in a combined two minutes.

 

Two women’s fights are on tap for “NEF 26.” Jessica “The Black Widow” Borga (2-2) returns from Florida to meet Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt Brianne Genschel (0-0). Genschel’s First Class MMA teammate “好萊塢” 漢娜Sparrell (1-1) will also be in action against 費爾南達·阿勞霍 (4-4-2).

 

Jay Jack and Amanda Buckner’s The Academy in Portland, Maine will send two new fighters to the cage at “NEF 26.” Chad Pierce (0-0) will debut against Shatterproof’s Lyman Curtis (0-0), 而 Phil Chiasson (0-0) 會見 Rik Seymour (0-0) of 3Ronin Athletics. PROFESSIONAL FEATHERWEIGHT BOUT ADDED TO NEF MMA CARD

The HYCC was at capacity for the first sanctioned mixed-martial-arts (MMA) show ever held on Cape Cod. The venue opened the upstairs walking track to give standing-room-only fans more elbow room. The crowd was electric all night for the eight-fight card presented by NEF.

 

Team Juniko, based out of Hyannis and Hanover, 馬薩諸塞州, was a perfect 5-0 on the night. Fabian Miranda (3-0), Thomas Lee Davis, JR. (2-0), Ed Forlenza (1-0), 和 Kylie O’Hearn (1-0) all picked up wins for the team on the amateur portion of the card.

 

It was O’Hearn’s bout with 安吉拉年輕 (1-2) of Young’s MMA in Bangor, Maine that will be remembered for years to come by all in attendance. The two women battled back and forth for three grueling rounds before O’Hearn was declared the winner by unanimous decision on the judges’ 記分卡. The fight will be a serious contender for “年度撲滅” in the northeast by the time 2016 comes to an end.

 

Team Juniko member Brendan Battles (1-0) was victorious in the main event of the evening via technical knockout over 邁克·漢森 (4-4). The bout was the pro debut for the native of Eastham, Massachusetts and standout wrestler from Nauset Regional High School. Battles rebounded from an early flurry by Hansen to get the referee stoppage aŤ 1:46 第一輪.

Hyannis, 馬薩諸塞州 (五月 6, 2016) – It will be no day at the beach, but they might just leave some blood on the sand. 新英格蘭戰鬥 (NEF) plans to storm Cape Cod on 星期六, 五月 14, 2016 with the first-ever mixed-martial-arts (MMA) event to be held on the popular tourist destination. The northeast’s top regional fight promotion will pack up its cage in one week and make the 200-mile trek south from NEF’s base of operations in Lewiston, Maine to the Hyannis Youth & Community Center (HYCC).

 

The attention the event has received has been staggering. “The Cape Cod community has welcomed us with open arms,” 說NEF共同擁有者和推動者尼克DiSalvo. “The HYCC is a great venue with an awesome staff. Patti Lloyd at the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce has been a huge help in making this event happen as well. Brendan “Lock Down” Battles (0-0) of Juniko is scheduled to make his professional MMA debut in the heavyweight main event, locking horns with 話筒 “小鬍子” 漢森 (4-3). Battles was a three-time All American wrestler out of nearby Nauset Regional High School where he won two state championships and three New England championships. 他是 2-0 as an amateur MMA fighter. Hansen has a wrestling pedigree of his own, having captured a state title for Mountain Valley High School in Rumford, 緬因. Hansen is a ten-year-plus veteran of the MMA cage.

Those claims will be put to the test in Hyannis in this lightweight rematch.

 

“It was a short notice fight that NEF asked for, and I know Derek wanted a rematch,” 丹寧說：. “After I beat him again, I’ll prove it wasn’t a fluke. I wanted this fight so I could get some new fans in Massachusetts and show my skills. I have had two losses in a row to great guys and want to get back in the win column.”

 

“I thought I could beat him the first time, and he caught me with an armbar,” Shorey admitted. “This time I will leave that cage the victor.”

The amateur headliner will see 達斯汀Veinott (4-4) in a flyweight showdown with 瑞安 “Razzle Dazzle” Kane (4-3). Veinott is the former NEF MMA Amateur Flyweight Champion. He dropped the title in a very close split decision loss to Ryan Burgess (2-0) 去年十一月. Kane, from Plymouth, 馬薩諸塞州, is a member of Team Juniko and an accomplished competitor in the ancient Greek martial art of Pankration.

Forlenza is a 2004 graduate of Nauset Regional High School where he was a standout on the wrestling team. Johanson’s opponent pulled out of their bout on fight day two weeks ago at “NEF 22.” Not one to let a good fight camp go to waste, Johanson agreed to take the fight with Forlenza in Hyannis.

On the boxing portion of the card, 布蘭登 “大砲” 貝瑞 (11-1-1) fought to a majority draw in a six-round contest with James Lester (10-9-1). Many of Berry’s supporters in attendance felt that he won the fight, but two of the judges had it even on the scorecards.

 

The headliner of the amateur MMA card saw 迦勒大廳 (7-3) captured the vacant amateur featherweight title with a second-round submission of Erik Nelson (2-3). That will prove easier said than done with Lester standing in the opposite corner. Lester is a product of the world-famous Kronk Gym in Detroit where world champions like Thomas “殺手” 赫恩斯 (61-5-1, 48 科斯), 霍亞 (39-6, 30 科斯), 倫諾克斯·劉易斯 (41-2-1, 32 科斯) and Wladimir Klitschko (64-4, 53 科斯) have trained under the late Emmanuel Steward. After a bloody war of a professional boxing debut at “NEF 21” 上個月, NEF MMA regular Crowsneck布廷 (0-0-1) will once again step into the boxing ring, this time facing Brandon Montella (3-0, 2 科斯). Montella, now a resident of Massachusetts, grew up in Maine and served in the United States Marine Corps.

“I try to focus on what is right in front of me,” said Erickson during a recent interview on The MMA Report Podcast. “I never looked past my opponents but I like to think what the reward is going to be when I beat this guy.”

 

Neither athlete can afford to overlook the other, but a win for either could very well mean a call from one of the national promotions. Erickson has been there before with Bellator. Powell is an all-around talent with some slick finishes to his credit.

The bout will be Harvey’s professional debut after a stellar 5-1 amateur career that saw him capture the NEF MMA Amateur Lightweight Title, as well as the northeast regions number-one ranking. The well-publicized personal issues between Harvey and Denning will be settled in the cage on April 23rd.

 

The professional portion of the MMA card will also feature the pro debut of Harvey’s Young’s MMA teammate 亞倫 “狠” 萊西 (0-0) as he takes on veteran “防碎2.0” 德里克·肖雷 (3-5) 在輕量級回合. Lacey vacated the NEF MMA Amateur Featherweight Title in order to turn professional.

Aaron Lacey leaves behind a legacy of victory in the amateur ranks. He put together an impressive record of 6-1 since his debut in the fall of 2012. Lacey capped off his amateur stint by winning the inaugural NEF MMA Amateur Featherweight Championship last November, handing Caleb Horner (4-1) the first loss of his career in the process. Lacey is currently the number-one ranked amateur featherweight in the northeast. He is a member of Young’s MMA in Bangor, 緬因, 和 April 23rd Lacey will make his professional debut alongside training partner, and NEF MMA Amateur Lightweight Champion, 喬希·哈維 (0-0). Lacey will vacate the amateur featherweight title to enter the professional division. NEF executives are expected to make an announcement on the status of that championship in the very near future.

 

“I am super excited to finally be making my pro debut come April,” said Lacey. “This is a goal I have had for a long time and something I have always been working towards. Derek Shorey is a very tough challenge as a debut fight. He has a tremendous skill set and a ton of experience. As far as vacating my belt, I had always viewed capturing the title as the capstone to my amateur career. In the moment, it was an incredible feeling and it is something I will always be proud of. Part of what has made me successful is that I always keep looking forward for my next big challenge and my coaches along with myself believe that those challenges are within the professional ranks.”

 

After getting off to a 3-2 start in his professional career, Derek Shorey is looking to bounce back from a three-fight skid. Last September, Shorey scored a career-defining, highlight-reel knockout of Tollison Lewis (0-5), but would go on to taste defeat in his next three matchups. 一 1998 Class-C Maine state wrestling champion for Foxcroft Academy, Shorey is the founder and head coach of the Shatterproof Combat Club based out of Dexter, 緬因. He served his country in the United States Navy for four years of active duty and did a tour of Iraq with SEABEE Battalion NMCB 27. Shorey is hoping to find his rhythm in the cage against Lacey at “NEF 22.”

BOYINGTON RETAINS, THREE NEW CHAMPIONS CROWNED AT NEF 21

The Colisée was a packed house for the promotion’s second hybrid mixed-martial-arts (MMA) and professional boxing event. Fight fans were treated to a marathon evening of nonstop action featuring 26 bouts in total.

 

In the MMA main event of the evening, in what can only be described as a “thriller,” 布魯斯 “漂亮男孩” Boyington (13-8) defeated Jon Lemke (5-4) via split decision to retain the NEF MMA Professional Lightweight Title. Boyington and Lemke battled back-and-forth for five brutal rounds in what many in attendance were calling one of the best fights in NEF history.

 

In the boxing headliner, Northeast Junior Welterweight Champion Brandon “大砲” 貝瑞 (11-1) handed Tollison Lewis the first loss of his professional boxing career (2-1) with a second-round stoppage via technical knockout (WHO).

 

On the amateur MMA portion of the card, three inaugural champions were crowned. 瑞恩·格洛弗 (3-1) took home the light heavyweight title after defeating Mike Williams (1-1), while Johnny Crafts (4-0) captured the bantamweight strap and Ricky Dexter (5-2) won the welterweight championship.

 

NEF also announced that its next event would take place on 四月 23, 2016, once again at the Androscoggin Bank Colisée in Lewiston.
