Here’s what the fighters said Thursday:

Adam Lopez

“This is my third time on ShoBox and my third fight against an undefeated fighter. They like to match me tough but I must confess, M n'ezie na-atụ anya ya.

“I know I only had 14 ịlụ ọgụ, but I truly feel I feel I’m ready for a major fight or a title shot at the end of year. I have a strong amateur background, so I have experience. There are a lot of good fights right now at 122 pound. The division is hot.

“I fought at 118 last time so I can make that weight if the right opportunity comes, but I am strong at 122. I thought I clearly won my last fight. I don’t think it was as close as the judges said it was.

“I’m fighting a guy, Muñoz, who is sort of a mystery to me. I’ve seen one tape of him, but it was from 2012. So I don’t really know how he’s fought recently.

“He seems to want to box and slug. He’s had some good performances in the past and fought some good ones so I won’t take nothing away from him and I do respect him.

“But I’m prepared to make the fight and be aggressor if necessary, and to win it any way that I have to. My ọzụzụ [former two-time world champion Carlos “Famous” Hernandez] continues to work on all the little things, and trains me for anything that might come my way..

“I feel that I’ve moved from prospect to contender, but a victoryechi night should prove that to everybody.”

MARIO MUÑOZ

“This is my first fight in nine months and first in America, which is very exciting. You have to fight in the United States eventually; this is where you become known.

“I know that I’m in top shape. I’ve fought some good guys in my division, and I’m at the level I need to be. I had a really hard training camp; I know what I’m supposed to do.

“I’m grateful for this opportunity. I know a lot of people haven’t heard of me, but I promise you a good fight.

“I’m more of a boxer than a puncher, but I love to exchange and switch stance to southpaw, although my trainer doesn’t like it.

“Lopez is very fast, smart and has a great left hand. But I’m ready for all that. I’ll look at what he has to offer and counter with my best.

“I’m a little nervous. Things are moving fast now. But I couldn’t be more ready.’’

RONALD ELLIS

“I’ve been working for this sort of opportunity since I was 13, otú, ee, I am very excited. I want to win and look good doing it so promoters and television will want to see me again.

“I’ve had problems in the past getting opponents, so I’ve taken a few ‘stay busy’ fights. But this fight is a totally different story.

“Everyone says I’m a boxer-puncher, and I do feel I am versatile. I’ll decide how I want to go the night of the fight. We know how Jerry’s gonna fight so I need to fight him smart. We’ll see how Odom’s chin is because it’s going get tested echi n'abalị.

“I only had 24 na-amu amu ịlụ ọgụ, but I am dedicated and continuing to improve with each fight. It will be a great night for me. I’m looking forward to putting on a good show.’’

Jerry ODOM

“Everybody has to make changes so I have a new trainer, Kennie Johnson, for this fight. He has been trying to stress finesse, movement and utilizing my overall skills more, with less emphasis on just trying to load up and knock the guy out.

“We’re working on me picking shots, breaking down opponents and setting up the power shots rather than just show it. Defensively, he’s had me working on my overall movement, head movement in particular.

“I’m looking to shine na Fraịdee, especially after my last ShoBox fight that I lost. I should have never taken the fight once he came in so overweight. It was a bad business decision on my part, but I learned – no more thinking with my heart.

“I got over my last fight right away and I’m anxious to do my job and show how much I gained and learned from it. I certainly feel ready. My only focus is to win.

“Ellis should be a good opponent for me. Obviously he has power, a good jab and punches. There are some good things about him, but I’m better. I’ll go out and execute, he won’t be able to stop me.’’’

LAVISAS WILLIAMS

“I’m naturally lefty … I’ve sparred against ambidextrous boxers, so I like to say I’m ready for anything that comes my way.

“I’m excited to be debuting on national television. That’s a pretty big deal for me so I need to put a great show. Especially for my fan base back home, they are all going to be watching.

“I take boxing seriously. I like to say I’m very dedicated. I take advantage of any opportunity I see. I trained at Mayweather Boxing Gym in Las Vegas for a bit last year. It was a good experience.

“My job is to frustrate him and trust me, M ga-. He will fight my fight. If he freezes again, I’m sure taking advantage of that, but I’m not counting on it.

“I’m going in knowing I’m the better boxer, but not overconfident. You can’t overlook anybody, but I know I’m the one that’s coming out victorious.”

O’SHAQUIE FORSTER

“I don’t know what happened in my last fight. I thought everything was OK but I just couldn’t find my fight rhythm. I couldn’t get off for some reason. But I am done thinking about that night.

“I’m definitely more focused this time around and in better shape. I need a win – and I’m fighting a guy who beat the guy that beat me, Samuel ọtụtụ sia. Ya mere, I have to be smart. He’s a southpaw but I can deal with that.

“I’ve never worked so hard in camp. I left Texas to go to Washington D.C. to train for this. M 100 percent set to go.

“I need a challenge and this is it. I’m ready to step up and I’m ready for him.”

JOHN MAGDA

“I’m excited and ready to go. Right now I’m looking at this as just another fight, but it’s definitely a big, big deal. I’m hoping to win and put on an exciting show.

“I’ve been in the gym training since November but a series of unfortunate events took place and I didn’t fight that month, or in December, or in January. Ya mere, I’ve been training for a while. Adị m njikere ịlụ ọgụ.

‘I’m in with a rough, siri ike Ihọd. I can’t let him bully or push me around; I just can’t let him stand and throw.

“I need to box, move, do a lot of things I know I can do. I have to see how it plays. It’s all just a matter of me doing what I am supposed to do, whether it is to box or slug. I’m ready for it.’’

CHRISTOPHER BROOKER

“I love being the underdog; I’m accustomed to it. That’s why I work so hard, remain dedicated and will not ever quit.

“Magda throws a lot of punches, so you can’t expect him to stay on the outside. But I run 15 miles a day, three days a week after sparring, to get into the kind of shape I need to be in and am for this fight.

“This is my first fight against a southpaw, but I’ve had southpaw sparring, including some recently with [mbụ n'ụwa onye mmeri] Andre Dirrell. I learned so much from him.

“I’m a Philly fighter through and through: I may not be a favorite to win, but I come to war and will never give up. That’s a lot like the way I grew up when living in foster homesand later, enweghị ebe obibi, for some time. I just not give up, I keep on fighting.

“There’s a lot on the line for me a Friday and I am ready to show what I can do.’’

I am on weight already and I feel good. We will be fighting at 142 pound.”
Upsher is ready to show the fans how far his abilities have grown since he turned pro in Philadelphia in 2003 mgbe ọ dị 18 afọ.
I am happy to be coming back to Philadelphia. I want to show people how far I have come and see the improvement that I have made as a fighter.
Despite losing his three bouts to the likes of former world champions Luis Collazo and Andre Berto as well as then-undefeated prospect Eddie Gomez, Upsher was competitive in all those bouts and grew tremendously from those experiences.
It showed that I can compete against that level of fighter. Plus everyone of those guys was bigger than me. M a eke 140 pounder and can make 135 if the right opportunity presented itself.
Chambers went back to his native Pittsburgh to train in neighboring city Coal Center, På.
My mind is set on winning a world title at 140 pound. After the three losses, I cant afford any missteps. People see about the losses. I know I have the ability to be a world champion and on Ka 29 that will start to show.
On the veteran opponent, RODRÍGUEZ, Upsher said, “I know he is tough and from Mexico. I will look at a little film before the fight and go from there. I really don’t worry about what he will do. He should worry about me. This fight is redemption for me. It’s a start and then I would like to right all of the losses. But first I am looking for a dominant performance na Fraịdee then I want to end all doubts.

After 28-month layoff, undefeated lightweight Angel Ocasio returns this Saturday at Harrahs Philadelphia

Omar Douglas takes on former world title challenger Daniel Attah in main event plus undefeated, Christopher Brooker, Earl Newman, Stephan Shaw, Adam Kownacki, Stephen Fulton, Jovontae Starks na Raynell Williams
Chester, På (April 24, 2015)–Abalị echi!!, April 25, ọkpọ-alaghachikwuru Harrahs Philadelphia with a terrific card promoted by King’s Promotions and XFE.

Ke isi omume, undefeated fechaa Omar Douglas will see action in an six-round bout when he now fights former world title challenger Daniel Attah (28-19-1, 11 Ko si) nke Washington, D.C.

In one of the anticipated undercard bouts, undefeated fechaa Angel Ocasio (7-0-2, 2 Ko si) will take on tough veteran Justin Johnson na a bayere ndokwa maka isii agba.

It was just over two years ago when Ocasio, considered a rising prospect in Philadelphia, was last in the ring as he stopped Esteban Rodriguez in two rounds on December 8, 2012.

I took the time off and found the lord and got married,”kwuru na 25 year-old Ocasio.

It was a much needed time off. I helped me realize that there are more important things then to just be a boxer. I know there that there other things as boxing is just temporarily. If boxing wasn’t here, I would still be the same guy. ”

Ocasio knows that he has a talent in the ring and after that hiatus, he didn’t find much problem getting back into the swing of things.

The training aspect was not that difficult. I am good with weight and the running was good. I guess the only thing that needed time was my timing. But i got in great work with (undefeated fechaa) Milton Santiago Obere. and it came back nicely.

Ocasio didn’t pick an easy customer for his comeback opponent in Johnson. Johnson’s record reads just 6-7-4 but he has wins over four undefeated prospects plus respect Philly fighter Hasan Young.

Justin is tough. He defeated four undefeated fighters and I am sure he prepares well. Just by fighting a guy with that kind of record does not win fights. He is an experienced fighter so I know it will be a good fight.

I look to be very active for the rest of the year. I am looking for five total fights in 2015. Maybe two more six-round bouts and my goal is to be fighting eight round fights by the end of the year. I think I am about eight fights away from being one of those television fights that will get me to the top level.

The well-spoken Ocasio is emphatic that despite his time away, he will soon be a big name in the sport.

“Alaghachitela m. I am coming for what’s mine. The people who have been doubting me for a long time can still get on and join the team!”

I don’t know too much about him other than he has about 20 fights and he is six-feet tall.

After a great amateur career, Davis is continuing to learn and grow into the professional ranks.

I like that everyone can come see me fight. Other than that I just go about my business and prepare like any other fight.

Davis believes that he will be ready for bigger stages in the next year.

We are progressing. We are hoping for a television spot later in the year. I just want everyone to come out and support us na satọde. I will shut it down like I always do and put on a great show.

Omar Douglas to take on Jose Angel Beranza this Saturday night at Harrahs Philadelphia

Plus undefeated Kyrone Davis, Angel Ocasio, Christopher Brooker, Earl Newman, Stephan Shaw, Adam Kownacki, Stephen Fulton, Jovontae Starks na Raynell Williams
Chester, På (April 22, 2015)–This Saturday n'abalị, April 25, ọkpọ-alaghachi Harrahs Philadelphia na a kemmenyeujo kaadị akwalite Eze n'ọkwá na XFE.

Ke isi omume, undefeated fechaa Omar Douglas will see action in an six-round bout when he takes on 70-fight veteran Jose Angel Beranza (36-32-2, 28 Ko si) of Tepito, Mexico.

Douglas nke Wilmington, Delaware nwere ihe ndekọ nke 13-0 na iri knockouts. He turned pro on May 27, 2011 na a 3rd gburugburu disqualification mmeri Eric Ụlọ Nzukọ.

Douglas ndibọhọ NABA USA Super Featherweight aha na a 2nd gburugburu stoppage n'elu Jean Javier Soto. Douglas also has a quality win with a 8-round unanimous decision over Jesse Carradine (8-2-2).

I started preparing for this fight as soon as the last fight was over. I have been sparring with the best fighters in the area. When I started my camp, I was only seven pounds over the contract weight,”said Douglas.

Douglas knows very little about Ortiz.

I really only know that he is from Mexico and he has a pretty decent record.

This will be the first time that Douglas headlines in his home region and he not about to have any of the distractions to go with that.

I take it in stride. I consider it just another day at the office. The only difference is that I am closing the show.

This being his 14th pro fight, Douglas is now rounding into a situation where he knows what he has to do to continue to get better.

I have been very responsible with my defense. I always knew I had a pro style. It was my late trainer Lewis Lum who told me I was better suited to become a professional world champion than an Olympic gold medal winner.

Douglas sees himself continuing to grow and fighting on more high profile platforms as the year progresses.

I see myself on bigger cards. I am with Al Haymon so to fight on a PBC card is a goal for the year. By the end of the year, I should be considered a hot prospect and I should get in three or four more fights that should put my name out more.

Douglas finished by saying, “On April 25, expect a show. I will be smart and put everything together. I train for every opponent like they are the best. Once it all comes together it will be lights out!!”
