LAS VEGAS (Février 19, 2016) – Welterweight star “Showtime” Shawn Porteropened up his training camp to media Jeudi at Porter Hy-Performance Center in Las Vegas as he prepares for his primetime showdown with welterweight world champion Keith “One Time” Thurman sur Samedi, Mars 12 on SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING on CBS presented by Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) from Mohegan Sun Resort in Connecticut.

 

L'action télévisée commence à 8:30 p.m. ET/5:30 p.m. PT with an all-action showdown between former multiple division world champions Abner Mares et Fernando Montiel.

 

Porter worked out for media along with his father and trainer, Ken Porter as he looks to become a welterweight world champion for the second time. Porter defeated multiple-division champion Adrien Broner in a primetime PBC main event last year and is looking to again find success under the bright lights.

“Training camp is going great. It’s been hard work as always and nothing really different specifically for this fight. Obviously it is always a different game plan for a different fighter but that’s about it.

 

“I’m not making too many adjustments from my previous fight, just taking what I learn from each fight and take those learning experiences with you. Going into this fight we will definitely have some of our past experiences show up.

 

“It is getting closer. I feel it every day. It’s approaching and the excitement is brewing. The closer it gets the more excited and more focused that I get.

On being perceived as the underdog…

 

“I do not feel like I am coming in as the underdog. In order to be the champion, vous devez battre le champion. That is my outlook on this fight, not only to outpoint him but to make it very decisive and dominate the fight.

 

”My motivation is to prove the doubters wrong.

“We’re going to be aggressive, we’re going to be smart, we’re looking beyond this fight.

“In my last fight I didn’t get hit very much and I am taking that same mindset and defense into this fight.

On being the next Floyd Mayweather Jr…

 

“I am expecting to beat Keith and be the guy that everyone looks at.

 

“When you go up against someone at a high level like this, you go up and you show out.

 

“As far as Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao, I think those faces are going away. The welterweight class is exciting and there’s going to be a new face on the top of that ranking. I’d like that face to be me.

 

“I don’t make any predictions; I just know I am going to win.

 

“I have been waiting for this fight since 2013. I had just gotten my title then and I could see the way his career was moving that there was a collision course. We didn’t know how long this fight would take to happen or when it would happen, but we knew it was coming.

 

“When I was told this fight was happening all I could think was ‘Ok, let’s do it’ and it took some time to make the fight happen but when we finally did our faceoff, it felt great to look him in the eyes and let him know ‘I’m coming after you.’

 

“For me to fight Keith it has always been something that was a part of my career, all business not personal. It was just something that I needed to do to get to where I want to be.

 

“Keith Thurman is a good fighter. Nothing really sticks out to me as something I should worry about. He’s a good athlete and a good boxer, but he is very beatable, he just hasn’t been beat yet.

 

“You’re only as good as you’re last competition. If you look at the Kell Brook fight, I was not as good as I should’ve been. Since then I am very good, but still I feel that you are only as good as your last fight until you prove otherwise.

 

“It is and isn’t personal. For Keith to be considered one of the top dogs in this weight class, it is personal to me to beat him and reign over him. Other than that, it is all business.”

“Because I have the history of working with a lot of top-level amateurs who have moved on to the professional level, I think that Shawn sees that in me as an edge.”

In the main event of the first primetime boxing presentation on CBS in nearly 40 ans, welterweight knockout artist Keith Thurman will defend his WBA Welterweight World Championship against former titlist Shawn Porter in a matchup of two elite fighters in boxing’s glamour division.

Mères (29-2-1, 15 KOs) and Montiel (54-5-2, 39 KOs) are two of the most accomplished and entertaining Mexican boxers in the sport today. Mares compiled a staggering resume over the past five years while earning titles at 118, 122 et 126 livres. Montiel is one of the most skilled boxers of his generation having won championships at 112, 115 et 118 pounds over a 17-year career.

He continued his rise up the pound-for-pound list with wins over Anselmo Moreno and Daniel Ponce De Leon to win world titles at super bantamweight and featherweight. The 30-year-old won three straight fights leading to a massive showdown with Leo Santa Cruz last August. Mares showed the same explosiveness that made him a multiple division world champion in a thrilling Fight of the Year candidate that he lost by decision. The veteran Montiel won his first world title in 2000 over Isidro Garcia and went on to have title-winning performances over Pedro Alzacar, Ivan Hernandez, Caps Z, Ciso Morales et Hozumi Hasegawa. Né à Sinaloa, Mexique, Montiel rode an eight-fight win streak heading into his October world title shot against Lee Selby. “Showtime” Porter has built one of the most impressive resumes in the division since making his welterweight debut in 2010. Porter, who surprisingly turned professional as a super middleweight (168 livres), won the IBF crown in 2013 with an impressive unanimous decision over Devon Alexander.

 

The physically-gifted and offensive-minded Ohio native knocked out former two-division world champion Paulie Malignaggi with a brutal clean right hand in April of 2014 in the lone defense of his title. Porter lost the IBF belt less than four months after the Malignaggi victory in a close majority decision defeat to undefeated British superstar Kell Brook, but he bounced back with a fifth-round knockout of Erick Bone in March of 2015. Porter scored what many considered an upset victory in his next bout over then three-division world champion Adrien Broner with a clear unanimous decision last Juin 20 à Las Vegas.

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS (Sept. 6, 2015) - Anthony "The Dog» Dirrell (28-1-1, 22 KOs) a marqué une décision unanime impressionnante sur Marco Antonio «El Veneno» Rubio (59-8-1, 51 KOs) Dimanche l'après-midi dans le Premier Champions de boxe (PBC) sur CBS événement principal de l'American Bank Center à Corpus Christi, Texas.

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS (Août 31, 2015) – Après un rasoir mince décision à leur premier combat, top bantamweights Jamie McDonnell (26-2-1, 12 KOs) et Tomoki “Le Mexicanito” Kameda (31-1, 19 KOs) sera carré-off à nouveau sur la Dimanche, Septembre 6édition du Premier Champions de boxe (PBC) sur CBS vivre de l'American Bank Center à Corpus Christi, Texas.
Le poids coq affrontement de 12 rounds sera le coup d'envoi de la télédiffusion à partir de 4 p.m. ET/1 p.m. PT et sera en vedette par une bataille des super-moyens entre Anthony “Le Chien” Dirrell (27-1-1, 22 KOs) et Marco Antonio “Le Poison” Rubio (59-7-1, 51 KOs).
Dans le premier combat entre McDonnell du Royaume-Uni et du Japon Kameda, qui a été diffusé à l'origine sur le Mai 9 tranche de PBC sur CBS, McDonnell a pris la décision de justesse 114-113 sur les trois juges’ tableaux de bord.
En tout, les deux hommes combinés à jeter par-dessus 1,000 coups de poing dans leur premier combat, dont près de 800 coups de puissance au cours de la 12 tours. Sur Septembre 6, McDonnell et Kameda vont toe-to-toe une fois de plus la suprématie des poids coq sur la ligne.
“Je dois un grand moteur et je reviens toujours sur une forte dans la partie arrière de la lutte,” dit McDonnell. “Je pense que de six rondes sur elle était mon combat. Je commencé trop lentement dans le premier combat, mais je travaillais dur et a obtenu la victoire.”
“Je pense vraiment que je gagné le premier combat,” Saïd Kameda. “Je atterri les coups beaucoup plus difficile et construit assez d'une avance rapide, mais les juges ont vu ce qu'ils ont vu. Ce fut une lutte serrée et je sais que je peux changer le résultat cette fois.”
Un des moments clés dans la lutte (et l'autre que certains pensée aurait balancé la lutte en faveur de Kameda) était son troisième knockdown tour de McDonnell via une main droite ultra-rapide.
“Je me souviens d'être sur le sol et je ne sais pas comment je suis arrivé là,” dit McDonnell. “Sa vitesse et la puissance est là et je suis descendu. Cela prouve que tous ne sont pas invincibles et si vous êtes pris, vous allez descendre. Nous avons mis un peu de travail pour contrer ce pouvoir et espère que ça va montrer la nuit de combat.”
Les deux hommes sont profondément dans le camp d'entraînement aujourd'hui et ont travaillé sur de nombreux ajustements pour garder leurs adversaires deviner entrée en la revanche. Pour Kameda ces changements interviennent un changement de coach comme il entre dans son premier combat avec nouvel entraîneur Ismael Salas.
“Je dois une équipe complètement différente maintenant avec Ismael Salas et Angel Heredia et «Stich’ Duran comme l'homme de coupe,” Saïd Kameda. “Je me sens beaucoup mieux entrer dans ce combat avec un meilleur sparring et de préparation et il va montrer dans la lutte. Salas a un grand plan de jeu et Ican't attente de l'exécuter.
“McDonnell est grand, donc pénétrer à l'intérieur de son jab a pris un peu de travail supplémentaire. Il est un bon vétéran mais je vais montrer que je suis le combattant supérieure une fois de plus.”
“Nous savions qu'il allait être rapide, il est le plus rapide que je l'ai jamais été confrontée,” dit McDonnell. “Je suis étiqueté avec une main droite, mais dans le match retour Je sais à quoi vous attendre maintenant. Je l'ai sparred contre un jeune garçon qui jette sa main droite comme Kameda ne je sais donc comment garder hors de portée pour cette.
“Je sens que je suis frappe plus fort. Je travaille sur mon pouvoir dans la salle de gym et je sens que ça va payer. Je suis toujours en grande forme et je l'ai été voler dans la salle de gym. Je suis vraiment impatient de celui-ci.”
Pour McDonnell, il était un succès U.S.. débuts alors qu'il rentrait chez au Royaume-Uni victorieuse. McDonnell est déjà arrivé dans le Texas comme il le faisait avant leur premier combat afin d'acclimater à l'époque et les changements climatiques.
“Je aimé être en Amérique pour le dernier combat et faire le spectacle de l'après-midi,” dit McDonnell. “Nous avons été au Texas avant aujourd'hui et ce fut un grand moment donc je suis heureux d'être de retour ici et je sais à quoi vous attendre. Nous avons apporté Ryan Burnett (10-0, 8 KOs) ici à Corpus Christi se bagarrer pour la quinzaine complète, ainsi que ma femme, fille et son frère Gavin sont tous ici avec moi.”
Les deux combattants vont chercher à prouver leur suprématie à nouveau et de divertir les amateurs de boxe du monde entier sur Septembre 6.
“Je pense que ce sera un combat rapide,” dit McDonnell. “Je commencé trop lentement dernière fois et je ne veux pas que cela se reproduise. Je crois que je vais l'arrêter fin..
