Old-time Las Vegas grudge match headlines June 10th “Knockout Night at the D” Demond Brock vs. Chuy Gutierrez

Live on CBS Sports Network
Las Vegas (Mayo 31, 2016) – An old-time grudge match between lightweights DemondBody Shot” Taong tampalasan at Chuy “Hurrican” Gutierrez will headline the third installment of the “Knockout Night at the D” serye, Biyernes gabi, Hunyo 10, pagpapahangin (11 p.m. AT / 8 p.m. PT) nang live sa CBS Sports Network from the outdoor Downtown Las Vegas Events Center (DLVEC).
Ang “Knockout Night at the D” serye, presented by D Las Vegas and DLVEC, is promoted by Roy Jones Jr. (RJJ) Boxing Promotions.
Brock versus Chuy has been a fight in the making for years and now the dream is a reality,” nabanggit Keith Veltre, CEO / Co-Founder of Roy Jones Jr. Boxing Promotions. “As Brock defends his title, Chuy will fight to the end to regain the title that he let lapse. This fight promises to be an all-out war and the winner will move into a national spotlight. Thanks to the ‘Knock out Night at the D’ serye, Derek Stevenson is giving Las Vegas prospects an opportunity to make a national presence.
Taong tampalasan (11-3-1, 4 Kos) will defend his USNBC title against former USNBC lightweight champ Gutierrez (14-0-1, 4 Kos), who never lost his belt in the ring, which has set the stage for this Las Vegas showdown to determine who the USNBC belt truly belongs to. Adding fuel to the fire is the fact both fighters train in Las Vegas and have growing fan-bases.
The 35-year-old Brock, who fights out of Kenner, Louisiana, learned to box in the Louisiana State Penitentiary, while serving his 14 ½-year sentence there for armed robbery. In prison, he won 39 ng 40 fights with 17 knockouts, eventually finishing his amateur career with an outstanding 54-3 talaan.
Last November in El Paso, Teksas, the RJJ-promoted Brock upset 9-1-1 Oscar Valenzuela, capturing the vacant WBC United States (USNBC) lightweight title by way of a unanimous 8-round decision.
Gutierrez is from Sinaloa, Mehiko, the home of Hall-of-Famer Julio Cesar Chavez among many other top fighters born there. A love of baseball kept Gutierrez occupied, hanggang sa, as he says, “boxing found me.Gutierrez was attending college at South Nevada and working, still dreaming of becoming a major league baseball player, when he walked into the famed Johnny Tocco’s Ringside Boxing gym at the age of 21.
Bitten by the boxing bug, Gutierrez turned pro in in 2010 and he’s rapidly developed into a fan-friendly fighter, largely due to his aggressive, entertaining style. Sa 2014, Gutierrez won an 8-round majority decision over Rashad Ganaway(14-4-1) for the vacant USNBC lightweight crown.
The unbeaten Gutierrez wants his belt back and he’s determined to take it from Brock, sino, talaga, believes otherwise. They will settle the score Hunyo 10ika in the 10-round main event that promises fireworks.

My jab was very important tonight. He’s very strong but I wanted to fight him inside because I knew he couldn’t take it from me. Ako ay tunay na inihanda. I think I may have broken my ankle in the fourth round but I kept going. I wanted to finish him, get the knockout, but he’s a very tough fighter. He has heart and showed why he has all of those accolades.

Guivas Taking a Realistic Approach to Facing ‘Big BabyMiller in CBS-televised Showdown next Friday at Seneca Niagara Resort & Kasino

Topeka, Kansas heavyweight NickTwo GunzGuivas is taking a realistic approach to facing one of the most dangerous up-and-coming heavyweights in the world next weekend.
Guivas (12-3-2, 9 Kos) will take on undefeated WBO #11, WBA #12 and IBF #15 Jarrell “Big Baby” Tagakiskis (16-0-1, 14 Kos) for the WBO NABO Heavyweight Championship on Biyernes, Mayo 27, 2016, at the Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino sa Niagara Falls, New York.
The two power-punching heavies will meet in the main event of Greg Cohen Promotions’ (in association with Salita Promotions, Adam Wilcock’s FightCard Promotions and David Schuster’s Winner Take All Productions) next instalment ofChampionship Boxing on CBS Sports Network.
In the 10-round lightweight semi-final bout, red-hot Filipino prospect HarmonitoEl Huracan de Gensan” Dela Torre (17-0, 12 Kos) will make his debut on US soil against capable veteran Guillermo Sanchez (15-18-1, 6 Kos) ng Buffalo.
Mga tiket para “Championship Boxing sa CBS Sports Network” Magsisimula sa $35 and are available at the Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino office box,www.ticketmaster.com or you can charge by phone at 1-800-745-3000.
I’m coming there to win, talaga,” sinabi Guivas, “and I know I’m a lot smaller than him, but I think I can move around and stay away from his punches. He’s a very heavy hitter, so I’m going to move and box him and see what the outcome is. I’m going to give this guy everything I’ve got. And I know he’s coming to fight too, so at the end of the fight, may the best man get their hand raised.
Taking on the red-hot Miller is not a job many heavyweights are hoping to get at the moment, but Guivas says the time is right for a challenge of this magnitude.
I’m at the part of my career where I need to step up,” he explained. “When they offered me the fight, I was already somewhat in shape, so I said let’s get in better shape and see what we can do. I think at this time I’m ready for it.
Guivas says he respects Miller’s power, but might have some openings to get a few things done. “Sa paglipas ng mga taon, I’ve gotten smarter in the ring. I know the guy is a heavy puncher and had a really good amateur career. He’s got a good jab, but he doesn’t have super fast hands. I’ve also noticed he tends to wear down in the later rounds, so I have to take him deep and see if I can out-box him.
A service technician for Coca Cola during the day, Guivas stared boxing and had his first fight at age eight. He ultimately had around 200 amateur fights and was a two-time silver gloves medalist, won the regional Golden Gloves tournament twice and went to the PAL Nationals. He got the nicknameTwo Gunzfrom promoter Damon Reed.
“Aking tagataguyod, Damon, is my promoter and a fighter too. He gave me that name because of the size of my arms and because I hit him one time and he said he felt like he’d been shot with a gun.
Guivas says he’s working hard at the Danger Fire Gym in Topeka, before and after work every day, and doing things a bit different to prepare for Miller.
I get up early in the morning and get my run in and then in evenings after work I do my boxing and sparring. I end up doing four to five hours a day of training. Wala akong choice, but to do it like that. Sa nakaraan, I’ve had one or two sparring partners for a fight, and I would go five or six rounds with that guy. Para sa mga ito fight, we brought in five guys and I get a fresh one every round. And the guys I’m sparring with are guys that are at the next level or getting ready to become top fighters. I’m getting a fresh look from different guys every round.
A good counterpuncher and a decent boxer, Guivas says a victory susunod na Biyernes would change everything.
I think beating Miller would definitely put me to the next level. The guy is top 10. If I can get the win I’d be in the money next time. I don’t fight just for the money though. Pag-ibig ko sa away. That’s what I do.
