FRESNO, Calif. (Junio 17, 2016) — It was a rematch over three years in the making, it was a fight that was scheduled, cancelled and re-scheduled, KajVendrede #?E “Bellator 156” inside Save Mart Center, Marcos Galvao (17-7-1) #Kontra? Eduardo Dantas (18-4) was also a barnburner of a main event with the Bellator MMA Bantamweight Championship on the line.
Galvao, 33, walked into the arena with the belt in tow, riding high on his memorable victory at the expense of Joe Warren Je 2015. But over the course of 25 Minutoj, Dantas put a halt to any momentum “Loro” had, peppering his former training partner’s left-eye with punches, until it swelled shut. Galvao tried valiantly to slow the pace of “Dudu” through grappling, but the 27-year-old did enough to earn the nod from the California State Athletic Commission judges and take back the belt that he claimed was his all along.
With the defeat, Galvao’s four-fight winning streak was snapped, while Dantas has now pieced together two consecutive victories. The Nova Uniao product will now set his sights on the winner of Darrion Caldwell Kontraŭ Joe Taimanglo #?E “Bellator 159,” a bout that will determine the new No. 1 contender for Dantas’ freshly won title.
Chidi Njokuani ‘Bang Bangs’ His Way to Knockout Victory
The co-main event of the evening featured contrasting styles, Kun Chidi Njokuani (15-4) looking to keep the fight at length and utilize his height and reach advantage, Dum Thiago Jambo (18-5) worked hard to close the distance and compete on the inside. “Chidi Bang Bang” won out, cracking the gut of Jambo with a kick that folded the Brazilian to the mat. Njokuani pounced, landing left and right punches until referee Mike Beltran waved the fight off at2:39 of the final round, giving the Las Vegas native a knockout win. After the scrap, the 28-year-old made his interview concise, telling the welterweight division: “anyone can get it.”
John Salter Taps Brandon Halsey via Triangle Choke
Throughout the lead up to Vendredo’s event in Fresno, Brandon Halsey (9-2) made it clear that fans watching would see a new and improved “Virbovo,” and while the former Fresno State Bulldog did demonstrate a new array of striking, ?i estis John Salter (12-3) who stole the show. RAFAEL CARVALHO WINS VACANT MIDDLEWEIGHT TITLE AFTER LIVER KICK TO BRANDON HALSEY

Rafael Carvalho (12-1) won the title that was vacated by Brandon Halsey (9-1) after missing weight in his last appearance, finishing the former undefeated fighter during an enthralling middleweight encounter in the main event of ”Bellator 144: Halsey #kontra?. Carvalho. "
Carvalho had the belt wrapped around his waist by Bellator MMA President Scott Coker after sending Halsey to the mat in a heap, with a perfectly placed liver kick in front of a packed house at the Mohegan Sun Arena.
“I want to thank my team for everything,” Carvalho said after the win. “I have believed in myself from the beginning and I knew this time would come.”
The 29-year-old Brazilian fighter was an exorbitant underdog heading into the matchup, but as the saying goes, that’s why they fight. The next time Carvalho enters an arena, his banner will now hang from the rafters.
Ward Stops Olson to the Delight of Partisan Crowd
Much like the last time Brennan Kvartalo (12-3) competed in his homestate of Connecticut, “Irish” caught Dennis Olson (14-10) with a right hand that sent“The Menace” to the mat, where Ward quickly pounced and forced the hand of referee John McCarthy. The finish came at 4:37 de la malfermaĵrondo.

There are plenty of matchups that make sense for a striker the caliber of Ward, Bellator MMA fans will need to keep close tabs as 2016 quickly approaches.
Yamauchi Equals Featherweight Submission Record
The Bellator MMA debut of Isao Kobayashi (17-3) didn’t go as planned at “Bellator 144: Halsey #kontra?. Carvalho,? Kiel Goiti Yamauchi (19-2) finished the Japanese fighter with a rear-naked choke submission at 3:50 of the final frame.

In the opening main card bout at “Bellator 144: Halsey #kontra?. Carvalho,? Mikaelo #Pa?o (9-0) remained undefeated after finishing Charlie Ontiveros (6-4) with vicious elbows at 3:20 en la unua raŭndo.
