Seconds Out Promotions Signs Light Heavyweight Powerhouse Marcus Oliveira to a Promotional Agreement

Tony Grygelko of Minneapolis-based Seconds Out Promotions proudly announces the signing of hard-punching former world-title challenger Marcus Oliveira to a promotional contract.

From Menominee, Wisconsin, and of Menominee Nation, native, heritage, 36-year-old Oliveira (25-1-1, 20 KOs) is also a former NABF and WBA Fedebol Light Heavyweight Champion.

The promotional agreement is a reunion of sorts, as Grygelko was Oliveira’s promoter for much of his early professional career.

I used to promote Marcus, prior to him signing with Don King, and it’s truly an honor to be able to promote him again and help position him for another world title shot,” said Tony Grygelko. “It seems that with his previous promoter not actively seeking fights, and his loss to Jurgen Brähmer, that Marcus has been written off, but the truth is he is extremely focused and has a burning desire to show all his fans that he has the talent to win a World Championship! He plans to shake off some ring rust off with a couple fights and then he’ll be looking to go after some of the big names in the division, such as Andrezj Fonfara, Sergey Kovalev, Bernard Hopkins, and a rematch with Brähmer.

Oliveira, who was a heavily decorated amateur boxer before turning pro in 2006, said he feels his career had been stalled by an agreement he signed with another promoter. He says he happy to now be free of that contract and back to working with someone he trusts.

I was looking for someone who could get me to the next level in my career and Tony has already done that for quite a few guys, so it was an easy decision,” said Oliveira. “He’s always straight-up with me and treats me well. I have a great relationship with him. I’m very happy about this new direction.

We’re very excited to be back working with Tony,” said Oliveira’s Manager, Douglas Ward from the Underground Boxing Company. “It’s good to be working with a promoter that has our same set of goals.

Oliveira joins a Seconds Out stable that also includes Carson Jones and recent world-title challenger Caleb Truax.

BOSTON (Tej zaum 21, 2015) – Fighters participating on Saturday’s Premier Boxing Champions rau NBC card took part in the final press conference today at historic Fenway Park in Boston before their respective fights at Agganis Arena, with televised coverage starting at 4:30 p.m. LI/1:30 p.m. PT.

Daim pib rau cov kev tshwm sim nyob, which is promoted by DiBella Entertainment in association with Murphys Boxing, luv nqi tom $250, $200, $100, $75, $50 thiab $35, thiab tsis muaj kev tsub thiab se, thiab muaj rau ntawm kev muag khoom tam sim no.

Here are what the press conference participants had to say:

ANDRE DIRRELL

A title means everything. It completes you as a fighter. That’s the top of the food chain in this sport, and that’s the pedestal we’re all trying to reachworld champion. Everybody wants to be a world champion. The greats had it and now we want it. It would mean more for my city, my family and my friends, and it’s something I’ll always be able to look back it. It would put me in the record books for life.

DeGale is not quiet. Today he’s chilling, maybe because he’s a little out of his comfort zone. But there’s a lot of tension when you’re standing right there next to your opponent. He might just be a little cranky today.

I like to lighten the mood and stay comfortable. This is all a part of the game. Let’s have fun now. It’s ass-kicking time when we get in that ring, but outside it’s all love.

There was a time when I didn’t want to do interviews. I didn’t want to go to fights. I didn’t want to hear fans online and on social media. I closed all them down because I didn’t want to hear people ask, ‘When are you fighting again? Talking about talent wasted, or saying I’m glad he’s gone.It hurt because there was nothing I could do. I was powerless even with all the power in the world.

JAMES DEGALE

Andre says the belt doesn’t mean anything to him in the fightwell, the belt means everything to me and more. I am here to make history and it doesn’t happen without that title.

I could win Rau hnub Saturday night and retire a happy manthat’s how much I want to beat Andre Dirrell. But when I do win that title, I am going for the rest of the belts, creating a lasting legacy for my country, my fans and myself.

Andre is a classy fighter and he showed in the press conference that he is a classy guy toowhen two fighters who believe in their ability 100 percent and know they are going to win a fight, it is going to be explosive.

There’s nothing but respect between us, but ultimately, we’re going to take each other to dark territory Rau hnub Saturday hmo ntuj, it’s going to be a brutal battleand one that I am going to win.

EDWIN RODRIGUEZ

This is home for me and I’m thrilled. I know I have a good undefeated fighter in front me, so I’m looking forward to a competitive matchup. It’s going to be a great fight for the fans.

This is an exciting day for me. I saw Pedro Martinez pitch so many times here at Fenway and he’s going into the Hall of Fame. Tseem, my fellow countrymen Manny Ramirez and David Ortiz have made so much history here.

Being here today and then having the weigh-in at Faneuil Hall tag kis and fighting Rau hnub Saturday, it’s just an amazing experience.

CRAIG BAKER

This is a great opportunity for me. I’ve dreamed of fighting on a grand scale like this since I first started boxing.

The entire experience has been awesome. It’s going to be an interesting fight. I’m going to keep coming forward. I’m going to keep boxing all night.

Everyone should look forward to an action packed night, I know it’s going to be an interesting matchup.

DANNY O’CONNOR

A couple of years ago Ken Casey and I talked about bringing boxing back to the city of Boston. Fast-forward to today and we’re doing it.

I’m excited to be part of it and to see boxing in Boston blossom. It’s good for the city and all the young boxers in this area.

I know I have a tough opponent in front of me and I won’t take him lightly. I’m planning on putting on a show for the fans come Hnub vas xaum night.

CHRIS GILBERT

I’m an aggressive come forward, in your face boxer from the first bell to the last.

I was full steam ahead when I got the call for this fight. I train all the time, I don’t take breaks and I’m always looking for an opportunity. I couldn’t be happier.

Danny O’Connor is one of the best in my weight division in New England. Everything he does, he does well.

I just need to keep my head and continue to come forward, I can’t get frustrated. I’m going 100 percent the full way through. If I’m busy and I fight smart I get good outcomes.

ANDRE DIRRELL

I always knew my day would come. I put in the work, I love this sport so I give it what I owe.

I’m happy to get a shot at another title. I’m not going to take it for granted. I’m going to put in my work and perform to the best of my ability and that will make me a world champion.

I’m glad to be getting in there with somebody who believes he can win. I want someone who will test me like I’ll test them. That’s a real championship fight.

I’m much hungrier than I was early in my career and I’m more focused mentally. With age comes wisdom. Everything I went through is all a blessing.

My goals are set and I’m going to accomplish every one.

JAMES DEGALE

Dirrell’s team is trying to get in my head. They must be scared. I’m wound up and I’m ready.

I’m obsessed with making history. It’s what drives me to work so hard in the gym and succeed in the ring.

It’s been a 16-week camp come fight night, so it’s been a long time. My body and mind feel ready to fight, I am so sharp and in a very good place.

He’s a tricky, talented, confident fighterhe believes in his ability. He said that he would not get beaten again in his career, and I am sure he believes that 100 percent. So you have two very confident fighters going into the ring Rau hnub Saturday.

I’m going to show everybody who I am. I’m driven to become the first Olympic gold medalist from the U.K. to win a world title and I’m doing it for my country.

EDWIN RODRIGUEZ

It’s an extremely important fight because it’s so close to my home.

I’m excited to be fighting on NBC. This is a great opportunity for me to be back at the elite level.

It’s important for me to get this win and get into a big fight against the best. I know I have to look impressive and that’s what I plan on.

DANNY O’CONNOR

I was disappointed in my fight with Paulie Malignaggi dropping out but there are always positives and one of them is that I’m now fighting in my hometown of Boston.

I do a lot of work in and out of the ring to prepare for a fight. I’m full focused now on fighting Chris Gilbert.

I want to thank all the people who helped get me onto this card, including Murphys Boxing, I promise I’m going to put on a show come Hnub vas xaum.”

CHRIS GILBERT

This is a huge opportunity for me. I’ve known about Danny since I started boxing and I’ve even been on a few cards with him.

Danny has been the top New England fighter in my division and you always want to compare your skills with somebody like him.

I was in Vermont and I’m always in top shape prepared to get a call to fight and this here is that big opportunity.

GARYSPIKEO’SULLIVAN

This is absolutely awesome fighting here and it’s a very important fight for me to go win.

When I knock out my opponent Rau hnub Saturday, I want to be the number one contender in the division and fight all the big names.

RYAN KIELCZWESKI

It’s awesome fighting in Boston in front of my home crowd with all of my friends, family and friends in attendance.

Fighting on the undercard of this huge event with so many great fights makes the experience even better and one I’ll never forget.

The campaign encourages them to speak out and take action against inequalities faced by women and girls.

Why I’m passionate about the HeForShe campaign is because it is important that we get the men involved to support us,” said Haynes. “UN Women and He for She is dear because what it’s saying is that we all recognize that for us to be better and do better, we have to support our women.

Titans of the Trade has created a platform for the revered honorees, noteworthy speakers and worthy causes to be front and center on the biggest days of the boxing calendar and will continue to do so moving forward.

What started as a women-only event with 25 attendees has grown to a Floyd Mayweather fight day tradition with over 100 women and men from across the sports industry and it has been a pleasure to see the event thrive,” said Nicole Craig, Vice President of Marketing and Operations for Mayweather Promotions. “This year we honored three incredible women and welcomed new guests that got the opportunity to network and form lasting relationships.
