MARIO BARRIOS RETURNS NOV 10 IN AUSTIN, TX

SAN ANTONIO, TX (October 28, 2015) – Rising star, undefeated super-featherweight Mario Barrios (12-0, 7 KOs), is scheduled to make his way back to the ring on November 10, 2015 at the Austin City Music Hall in Austin, Texas. Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) TOE-TO-TOE TUESDAYS rau Hma liab Sports 1 thiab BOXEO DE CAMPEONES rau FOX Deportes will air the event live beginning at 9 p.m. LI, 6 p.m. PT. In the main-event, Alejandro “Cobrita” Gonzalez Jr. (25-2-2, 15 KOs) will meet Karim Guerfi (22-3, 6 KOs) in a 10-round Bantamweight bout. Barrios, who’s 8-round will be part of the telecast, with face an opponent TBA.
While waiting for an opponent to be announced, Barrios, headed to the San Francisco Bay Area to get some work in with lead cornerman, Bob Santos.
“Since I’ve been out here I’ve learned a lot working with Bob Santos,” said Mario Barrios. “Santos has a lot of experience working with top level fighters and he’s showing me new things to help me get better. There’s a lot of little things that we’ve been working on that make a tremendous amount of difference when I’m in the ring. I’m using different footwork while improving on my defense, things like that.”
Back in San Antonio, Barrios trains with his father Martin, who’s been with him since the amateurs when he started boxing at age 9. They’ve come along way together and have a special bond.
“My dad has always been there for me,” Barrios continued. “In addition to teaching me how to be a man, he taught me how to box and stay out of trouble. It’s tough finding sparring sometimes, but he’s always there to make the necessary sacrifices to get someone. He understands what it’s going to take for me to take my career to the next level, and I appreciate him for that. Together we make a very strong team.”
Barrios, who lives in nearby San Antonio, Texas, knows how important it will be to shine on national television. With a huge crowd expected to show support, Barrios is ready to his mark in the super-featherweight division.
“With this fight being shown on Fox Sports, I know it’s my time to show everyone in my division, including those who will be watching on television, why I’ve worked so hard to get to this position.” Mario Barrios concluded. “A lot of close friends and family will be there is show support, so I’m coming with everything I got. ASHLEY TOPS LOADED FIGHT CARD AT AVIATOR IN BROOKLYN
BROOKLYN, N.Y. (Oct. 28, 2015) – She is a dean at the Bernard Hopkins School of Pugilism.
Alicia Ashley, 48 years old, will attempt to win a world title, the WBC world female super bantamweight crown, on Thursday evening in Brooklyn, and if she is successful, she will be honored with another incredible addition to her resume. She will gain another entry into the Guinness Book of World Records as the oldest female to win a world title, setting an even higher bar with her incredible longevity and durability.
The attempt will take place on another “Brooklyn Brawl” card promoted by Dmitriy Salita, and Ashley will be paired off with Christina McMahon, on a slate running at the Aviator complex in south Brooklyn.
Ashley sports a 22-10-1 (4 KOs) record, and shared some of what makes her tick, and continue to persevere past a point where even the sturdiest pugilists hang up the mitts.

“I feel I’ve had an illustrious career in boxing that sadly is not reflected monetarily,” Ashley said. “I’m a four time world champion and have been in the Guinness Book of World Records as the oldest female boxing champion. I’ve fought all over the world and have garnered respect wherever and whenever I fight. For me, boxing is a performance and I always do my best to entertain.”

Salita said that he expects she will do just that. “We are honored to have such a superior athlete and role model topping this fine card,” Nws hais. “Alicia is someone men, women and children can look up to, someone who has so many great qualities, as an athlete and a person.”

Ashley fights for love of craft, and works on her skills after putting in a days work. “My main job is a personal and boxing trainer at Gleason’s Gym,” she continued. “I live in Bed Stuy, Brooklyn with my husband Matthieu, who I met at the gym six years ago.”

“Christina McMahon is an undefeated fighter who has gone in someone else’s back yard and won a title. She will be a formidable opponent who will come to fight and that is perfect for my slick style. I’m a long distance fighter and predict that I will come away with a unanimous decision win.”

Super Bantamweight contender Del Valle Returns November 14 in Puerto Rico!

Bayamon, PR (October 28, 2015) – Puerto Rican super bantamweight contender Luis “Orlandito” Del Valle will return to the ring in an eight round contest Hnub vas xaum, November 14 at the Auditorio Municipal de Comerio in Comerio, Puerto Rico.

The card is presented by Miguel Cotto Promotions and Roc Nation Sports and will air Hnub vas Xuv, November 20 via tape delay on Unimas.

An all-action brawler that gives fans their monies worth each and every time he enters the ring, Del Valle has an excellent 19-2 professional ledger with 14 of his victories coming by knockout. Del Valle, who made a name for himself on the global scene by fighting on HBO and Showtime, stopped Roberto Castaneda in eight rounds this past March. A former NABA featherweight champion, Del Valle owns victories over Dat Nguyen and Christopher Martin.

Currently in an intense training camp alongside undefeated contender Jayson Velez, Del Valle is excited for fight night and has his sights set on bigger opportunities in 2016.

Born in Brentwood, New York like his world champion father, McGirt now trains and resides in Vero Beach, Fla. The 32-year-old was successful early in his career against fighters Ramond Joval, Jason Naugler and Patrick Perez but stepped away from the sport following a loss to then unbeaten Edwin Rodriguez in 2010. He returned in 2014 and took down Larry Smith and Rahman Yusubov leading up to his October 30 battle with the 30-year-old Walker out of Kansas City.

‘SIBERIAN ROCKY’ PROMISES MORE OF WHAT THE FANS LOVE IN MONTE CARLO DEBUT ON NOV. 7

Johannesburg, October 27 – Former world champion Ruslan Provodnikov (24-4, 17 KOs) says he will be in great shape for next weekend’s showdown with Jesus Alvarez Rodriguez (13-0, 10 KOs) nyob rau hauv Monte Carlo as he was in training for a fight in New York at the same time.

Those plans changed, though, because “six or seven opponents changed their mind about fighting me”. They include Amir Khan and Shawn Porter.

The Russian’s in-your-face style makes him a tough fight for anyone and it’s little surprise that many big names have baulked at the chance to challenge him.

“It’s frustrating, but we will persevere,” he said from his base in Indio, California where he is working with new trainer Joel Diaz, former trainer of Provodnikov rival Timothy Bradley.

Asked what sort of fight Monte Carlo fans can expect next weekend, the Banner Promotions boxer unsurprisingly pointed to his reputation saying he had been in two fights of the year candidates, plus the fight of the year with Bradley in 2013.

“Right now, the goal is to become world champion again. Being in America has made me a better fighter,” said the 31-year-old who grew up admiring Mike Tyson. “If you are a star in the USA then you are a star all over the world. Plus the competition level in the US is at its highest.”

Having grown up in western Siberia, he attributes the emergence of Eastern Bloc fighters like himself, Gennady Golovkin, Artur Beterbiev and so many others to the challenges thrown down by Soviet history.

“There have been some tough times that really made people very hard-working and persistent in whatever they do,” said the man they call the “Siberian Rocky”.

Provodnikov is looking forward to following in the footsteps of Golovkin, who has twice fought in the principality to much acclaim.

“I’ve never been there, but I’ve heard it’s one of the most beautiful places in the world. I know Gennady enjoyed it every time. I can’t wait to see how many fans I have over there.”

As ever, the Russian expects to put on a good show. “I’ve seen Rodriguez’s fights. He is a very strong fighter, and unbeaten. This will be a brawl.”

His fans, of course, wouldn’t want it any other way.

Undefeated with all but two victories coming by knockout, the 23-year-old Plant returns to the ring fresh off of a victory in September over Jamar Freeman. Amateur boxers registering for 130th annual USA Boxing New England Championships

MEDF0RD, Pawg. (October 27 2015) – More than 125 amateur boxers – ranging from open class to novice, masters and Junior Olympians – have already registered to compete in the upcoming 130th annual USA Boxing New England Championships which will be hosted by Quietman Sports Gym at two Massachusetts venues.
Quietman Sports Gym in Medford (MA) is owned and operated by two-time world heavyweight boxing champion John “The Quietman” Ruiz, the first and only world heavyweight champion of Hispanic heritage.
The quarterfinals will be held Hnub vas xaum, November 7, followed by the following Hnub Saturday (Nov. 14) semifinals, both at Chelsea High School. Semifinal winners will qualify for the championship finals scheduled, Hnub vas xaum, Nov. 28 at Plymouth Memorial Hall. Winners in each weight class will advance to the USA National Championships. Since suffering his only loss, LaManna has won two straight which includes a 6-round unanimous decision over rugged Ayi Bruce on September 26th in Beach Haven, New Jersey.
That loss, which was a nationally televised fight with Antoine Douglas, gave LaManna the realization that he should move down in weight and the former Middleweight contender will now campaign as a Welterweight.
LaManna, who has taken more control of his career with his formation of Rising Star Promotions, has been very active as this will be his 3rd fight in 4 months.

Tus 27 year-old native of Atlantic City has a record of 11-1 with five knockouts, will be making his 5th appearance in his hometown. He is coming off a 6-round unanimous decision over Jonathan Garcia on August 15th in Atlantic City.
