New York, NY (Martie 9, 2016) – WBC USNBC 154 pound titlist Boyd “Rainmaker” Melson will take off the gloves and pick up a ping pong paddle when he meets New York State welterweight champion Chris Galaeno at SPiN New YorkVineri, Martie 11.
The SPiN charity event starts at 9 PM și $10 general admission tickets can be purchased at the door. All attendees who donate $50 or more will be invited to go in ring with Melson and throw punches at him for a round. New York basketball great Kenny Anderson will be working Melson’s corner during these rounds while Melson offers himself as a target for those donating at least $50. All admission fees and proceeds from a special silent auction hosted by Cardboard Memories will be split between Team Fight to Walk and B.O.X.E.R. Inc.
Attendees will enjoy a truly one-of-a-kind evening of entertainment emceed by Vice Sports’ Eric Kelly and a silent sports memorabilia auction highlighted by a 30 pound bronze statue that includes engravings of many world champions including Floyd Mayweather. Those on hand are also invited to an exclusive after party hosted by DJ KP.
Special guests for the SPiN event include New York City basketball legend and former NBA All-Star Kenny Anderson, actresses Rosie Perez & Susan Sarandon former WBO junior welterweight champion Chris Algieri, NABO and NABF heavyweight champion Jarrell “Big Baby” Morar, WBA world middleweight champion Danny Jacobs, middleweightcontender Willie Monroe and Team Fight to Walk members Frank Galarza and Will Rosinsky amongst others. Legendary competitive eater and six-time Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating champion Kobayashi will also be on hand to enjoy the action. All guests will be available for photo ops and autographs throughout the evening.
A competitor at heart, Melson’s posted a series of recent videos training on the ping pong table with 14-Time Swedish National Champion Malin Pettersson accompanied with friendly trash talking towards Galaeno.
“Chris may be undefeated in the ring but he’s taking an L on the table,” Melson said with a smile. “On a serious note, I’d like to thank SPiN NYC and all the celebrities that are attending this event in support of Team Fight to Walk and B.O.X.E.R Inc, which is another great organization I recently became a board member of. Events like these can literally help change lives, whether it be to cure Chronic Spinal Cord Injuries or keep at-risk youths off the street. That is how much I care about raising the additional funds still needed for the clinical trial I’ve been discussing during the last five years.”

SHAWN PORTER TO HOLD LIVE-STREAMED 12-ROUND EXHIBITION

In an effort to stay active and give his fans an opportunity to see him in live action, Porter will hold an old-fashioned exhibition against Lanardo Tyner (30-10-2, 19 KO) at his gym – Porter Hy-Performance Center at 7 p.m. PT sâmbăta. “When I found out about Martie 12 not happening because of what happened to Keith, I tried to move forward to fight someone else,” Said Porter. “But given the level of that fight with Keith, there wasn’t anything for me really. So my dad and I decided to do this exhibition. I’m not getting paid. This is 100 percent for anybody out there who loves to see me compete and perform. Lanardo Tyner is a veteran who has fought almost everybody and he’ll provide good excitement. We won’t be going through the motions. This is real.”
“We’re doing the exhibition because Shawn was so focused on fighting Keith Thurman that we wanted to keep him focused until we can determine when they’ll be boxing again,” said Ken Porter, Shawn’s father and trainer. “We were getting off a plane in Big Bear for training camp when we heard that Keith had been injured and couldn’t fight on Martie 12. We continued to spar and train. We figured the only way we could keep that focus was to have someone push Shawn for 12 rounds or however long it last.
In addition to Porter’s exhibition, amateur middleweight Brandyn Lynch, nephew of legendary comedian Eddie Murphy, will face fellow amateur Joey Alday într-un meci de patru rotund.
In his last match Porter scored a 12-round unanimous decision against Adrien Broner in Las Vegas last June. The match against Thurman is one of the most highly anticipated of 2016 and will be rescheduled soon.

“We decided to do this because we needed the things associated with a big fight – the atmosphere, the crowd, luminile,” said Ken Porter. “We’re going to have everything a big fight will have – a weigh-in the Vineriînainte, the referee, the ring card girls. Mentally and physically Shawn needs this because he hasn’t fought în 10 luni.”

Golub, a six-foot, 27 year-old southpaw, turned pro in November 2012. At the outset of his career, el a mers 5-0 in the WSOB. From a single parent household in West Philadelphia, life has always been tough for Julian Williams. At a young age, he was constantly getting into fights with his brothers and at school, until he set foot in the gym at age 12 and unveiled his love for boxing. Williams has set his goals high and is determined to set records and break barriers while giving his all on each on of his fights.
“Each fight, I just want to be better than the last fight and I’m on the cusp of being a contender and getting the title shot. Returning to St. Pete’s for the first time in nearly three years, Mad Integrity Fight Sports ran two highly successful cards at the Hilton Bayfront which featured future TV fighters Amos Cowart and Clarence Booth.
Headlining the card is an eight round Sunshine State showdown between popular welterweight Ali Tareh of Tampa and Jacksonville’s Juan Aguirre. Tareh, who has fought all but three of his professional bouts in Florida, has a 13-11-5 ledger with 5 victorii prin knock-out. The owner of Fight Fitness Center in nearby Pinellas Park, Tareh has won four of his last six bouts but is coming off a decision loss to Javier Garcia last July. Originally from Guatemala, Aguirre has a reputation for his fearlessness and incredible durability. Alvarez is a talented boxer-puncher with a loyal fan base that follows him wherever he fights while Dawson will look to make it five straight without a defeat.
