Novemba 10, 2013, he fought one of the area’s top junior welterweight fighters, Moris Rodriguez, at the Red Lion Hotel in Sacramento, California. East Bay supporters made the trek to the state’s capital for Mahasin’s triumphant return which came by way of a six-round unanimous decision. Mahasin has accrued a ring record with a majority of the results coming as wins, and has transitioned up a weight class to super welterweight. “This was a good experience for me, being that I got to go the full four rounds for the first time in my career,” said Chaise Nelson. “Gonzalez was using a lot of movement so I had to be more aggressive at times. In boxing there are some many different styles. Sometimes you’ll face guys who will box and other times you’ll face guys who will bang. I’m just glad I won every round and got the victory. I’ll be right back in the gym getting ready for my next fight.”
Nelson, who is an Ohio native, was making his U.S. kwanza. Many family and friends were in attendance to support Ohio’s next boxing start. Nelson was thrilled to see the support from his fans.
“It was a good feeling knowing I had a lot of family and friends in the crowd.” Nelson continued. “My hometown of Mansfield is a few hours away so I know everyone made a little sacrifice to come watch me fight. The goal is to continue fighting in Ohio to build my fan base. I can’t wait to get back in the ring.”
