Petrov, who has not fought in eleven months since dropping a decision to undefeated WBO Lightweight champion Terry Flanagan, was training for a return bout in his native Spain before getting the call last weekend after Anthony Yigit fell out of the fight with Baranchyk.
Petrov arrived at the Deadwood Mountain Grand in Deadwood, South Dakota, and he is confident going into this important fight.
“Ngizizwa kahle. I am always training, and was getting ready for a fight in a couple months in my native Spain, so I don’t find this to be a big deal to accept this fight on short notice,” Said Petrov.
What made it easy for him to take the fight, was the opportunity to fight for the number-2 position in the IBF.

Young to Face Reymart in WBA Eliminator on March 23 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino

Friday, March 23, in the Event Center at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino e Hollywood, Florida, promoter Kris Lawrence’s The Heavyweight Factory will present “Rumble at the Rock,” an 11-bout night of world-class professional boxing.
Featured in the night’s main event is a 12-round WBA Bantamweight Eliminator for the mandatory contender between WBA #4-rated southpaw Stephon “Showstopper” Young (17-0-3, 7 Kos) from Saint Louis and WBA #5 Reymart “GenSan Assassin” Gaballo (18-0, 16 Kos) from General Santos City, Philippines. In the 10-round co-main, red-hot 19-year-old Hawaiian welterweight prospect Logan “The Korican Kid” Yoon (11-0, 11 Kos) will face an opponent TBA for the IBF Youth World Championship.
Special guests expected that evening include former heavyweight champions Riddick “Big Daddy” Bowe and Evander “The Deal Real” Indawo engcwele.

For 29-year-old Young, the fight against Gaballo represents him getting one step closer to his dream of a world title after years as a contender.

Argentinian WBA super welterweight interim champion Brian Carlos Castaño (14-0, 10 Kos) travels to France to make his first world championship title defense against challenger and former EBU titleholder Cedric Vitu (46-2, 19 Kos) live from La Seine Musicale, in Paris, France.
“I look forward to the fight with the Frenchman Cedric Vitu. I want to put on a couple of great fights for the year coming up and the first should be with Cedric Vitu,” Castaño said.
Back in July, Castaño got his biggest win to date when he defeated Michel Soro in Evian, France. Castaño is arguably the most gifted Argentine boxer to come along in many years. Prior to turning pro in 2012 he was highly regarded as an amateur.
During his amateur career that yielded nearly 180 kwi, he beat 2012 Olympic Silver medalist Esquiva Falcao, U.S. Olympian (and current IBF welterweight titleholder) Errol Spence Jr. and current middleweight standout Sergey Derevyanchenko.
Cedric Vitu held the EBU light middleweight title between 2015 futhi 2017, with three successful title defenses. Vitu first challenged for the EBU title in 2012, facing the undefeated Sergey Rabchenko in Manchester on the undercard of Ricky Hatton’s comeback bout against Vyacheslav Senchenko. Rabchenko, promoted by Hatton, prevailed on a split decision.
Ngo-June 2015, Vitu got another shot at the EBU title against Orlando Fiordigiglio in Brescia. He won the title beating Fiordigiglio by technical knockout in round 11. Back in France, Vitu retained his belt against Roberto Santos in December 2015 and Ruben Varon in March 2016. He was named European Boxer of the Year by the EBU on June 2016. Vitu notched another successful defense against Isaac Real on January 2017. Ngomeyi, he fought in an IBF title eliminator against Marcello Matano. Vitu defeated Matano with a round 10 WHO, becoming the mandatory challenger to IBF champion, Jarrett Hurd. Following his win, Vitu vacated the EBU title.
The Super Welterweight championship fight will be supported in an explosive matchup between Souleymane Cissokho and Pavel Semjonon, and Ringstar Sports prospect, Money Powell, IV vs. Gadzhimurad Ibragimov in a Super Middleweight bout.

Living and fighting out of Tampa, Reyes started boxing at the age of 6, becoming a multi-time National Champion. His dream was to represent the US in the 2016 Olympics but his path to Rio was derailed by an injury. As a pro, the talented Reyes has a perfect 5-0 irekhodi 3 wins by knockout and many industry insiders consider the 21-year-old to be one of Florida’s blue chip prospects.
Originally from Cuba and now residing in Fort Lauderdale, FL, Yanez is a fearless fighter who never turns down a challenge. He’s faced the likes of Gary Antuanne Russell, Samuel ezilungisiwe, Rickey Edwards, Ivan Najera and Yoelvis Gamboa. In Novemebr 2012, Yanez upset previously unbeaten Jairo Martinez via unanimous decision.

“I want to take on these big opportunities because I want to challenge myself. This is another chance to prove to all the fans what kind of fighter I am.
“Everything depends on my opponent. If I find there’s an opportunity to go for a knockout, I’m definitely going to take it. “It would be very nice to win a fourth division title. That would obviously be a big accomplishment in my career and it would be the second time I won the title here in the state of Texas. I have a lot of appreciation and love for San Antonio boxing fans.
“Some critics aren’t giving Lipinets much credit because he’s only had 13 ukulwa, but that tells you how good of a fighter he is. It took me 30 fights to be a world champion. He’s a high caliber fighter who brings great danger. Ekupheleni kosuku, I believe I’m the better boxer and that will help me get the win.”

“It was a great camp. We had a lot of different sparring partners that were giving me different looks as far as boxing abilities. Every single one of them had styles similar to Mikey. Sengilungele ukuya. I’m not going to let anything get in the way. I’ll come out victorious Saturday night.
“Ngizizwa enkulu. It doesn’t matter if I’m an underdog or not, I’m ready to prove everybody wrong. I really want to show everybody that I’m the one that they should be looking at; that I’m the champion.
“Mikey’s records and accomplishments don’t matter to me. He’s got two hands, two feet and one head. He’s just another person, he’s just another fighter I’m fighting. I prepared for little different things to fight Mikey but once I get in the ring, it’s going to be Mikey and me and you’ll see how it’s going to go down.
“My hand injury took place over the course of sparring. We were changing sparring partners two rounds at a time. I hit one of them at some point and the next morning [the injury] blew up. I didn’t really feel it at the time when I hurt it.

“I studied [Relikh] a lot so I expect the same type of performance that I’ve studied, based off what he’s done in his past fights and what he did with me in our last fight. I know he’s going to come with all those tools in to the ring so I expect that and my team has prepared exactly for that.

The first time we fought, I felt like I had to fight his fight. I had to make adjustments in the ring and exchange a lot with him. I took a lot of punishment.
“I’m definitely not looking past Relikh, I’m really focused on this fight. I want to win this fight. I’m looking for big names after. I can fight anyone between 135 futhi 147 Manje. Broner, Garcia, Lomachenko, it’s only big names what I’m after next.”

SPARROW BREAKS THROUGH WITH TWO BRISCOE AWARDS

PHILADELPHIA – Rising Philadelphia boxing star, Avery Sparrow, really made a career breakthrough in 2017. The junior lightweight won four bouts during the year, including two main events, and two national TV appearances. He started 2017 as a promising young local, but by the end of the year, Sparrow had broken into the world rankings.
On March 25, 2018, Sparrow will be honored with two Briscoe Awards for his accomplishments. Okokuqala, he led the fan voting in the “Prospect of the Year” category, and also won the “Breakout Fighter of 2017” unopposed. Sparrow will receive his two awards at the 11th Annual Briscoe Awards ceremony, a party for the boxing community, at the VBA Clubhouse in Philadelphia.
“Sparrow really made a name for himself in 2017,” said John DiSanto, founder of the Briscoe Awards. “Big expectations have surrounded Sparrow since the beginning of his career, but last year he really showed everyone what big potential he has.”
A number of other fighters like Jaron Ennis, Tyrone Brunson, Dylan Price, Imigwaqo Marcel, Kermit Cintron, and Jerome Conquest, will also be honored in various categories for their 2017 accomplishments.

Undefeated Former Olympian Mytrofanov to Face Hernandez as Natex Boxing’s ‘The Chicago Rumble’ Returns on April 14 in Northlake, IL

On Saturday, April 14, Chicago’s newest promoter, Andrew Sobko, CEO of Natex Boxing Promotions, will return to the Midwest Conference Center in Northlake, Illinois, for his next installment of “The Chicago Rumble.”
A night of action-packed professional boxing featuring local and international talent in competitive match-ups, the night’s main event will pit Oxnard, California (via Chernigov, Ukraine) undefeated dynamo, futhi 2016 Olympian, Dmytro Mytrofanov (2-0, 1 KO) taking on dangerous Mexican spoiler Vladimir “24K” Hernandez (10-2, 6 Kos) in an eight-round middleweight showdown.
In the night’s six-round light heavyweight co-main event, undefeated Rustam Tulaganov (1-0) of Oxnard, California (via Tashkent, I-Uzbekistan) will face capable Chicago-based slugger Martez McGregor (5-1, 4 Kos).

In addition to his Olympic appearance two years ago, 28-year-old Mytrofanov, won Ukrainian national amateur titles in 2008 futhi 2012 and a bronze medal at the 2011 I-European Championships. He turned professional late last year and now trains at Oxnard’s Boxing Laboratory (formerly Robert Garcia Boxing Academy) under former Robert Garcia protegee Marco Contreras.
Denver (via Mexico’s) Hernandez is no easy challenge for any fighter, especially one with just two pro fights. In just the past year, Hernandez slapped highly rated prospect Danny Valdivia with his first two career losses (Manje 14-2) via deserved decisions.
“I’m very happy to be going back to Chicago to fight,” said Mytrofanov. “I’ve been training very hard for this fight in Oxnard for the last weight weeks with world-class sparring partners.
