LOWELL, Masa. (Xaneiro 29, 2016) – For the second week in a row all 13 matches went the three-round distance in last night’s Central New England (Greater Lowell) semifinals round of the 70th annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship, featuring open and novice class action, no histórico Lowell Memorial Auditorium.
Returning New England welterweight champion Xavier Veiga, representing Canal Street Boxing in Lawrence (MA), era un 4-1 winner against Michael Fontenez, of Nashua, NH.
Peter Welch’s Gym in South Boston led the hit parade with three winners, all in the novice class: leve Jonathan Depina, welterweight Lipi Fernandes e medios Brian Lawrence. The Lowell West End Gym was the only other with more than one winner last night, both in the open class, leve Brandon Higgins and light welterweight Xeremías Perez.

(Xaneiro 25, 2016) – Returning New England Golden Gloves welterweight champion Xavier Veiga, de Lawrence (MA), leads a host of talented open and novice class amateur boxers into this Thursday night’s (Xan. 8) in the Central New England (Greater Lowell) semifinals of the 70th annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship at historic Lowell Memorial Auditorium.
The 21-year-old Vega, representing Canal Street Boxing, faces Nashua (NH) reto Michael Fontanez in one of eight open class matches. There are also eight novice class matches scheduled.
Vega, who has a 33-3 rexistro afeccionado, didn’t start boxing until he was 17 because he has only one kidney. A construction worker by day, Vega hopes to become a professional boxer and, se non, a Lawrence police officer in order to give back to his community.
