“I wanted to make a statement with an impressive win and I was fortunate to land a couple of hard shots in the early part of round one that hurt my opponent,” Diris Caleb Fabrikejo. “After seeing him on wobbly legs I went for the kill. EL PASO, TX (Julio 19, 2015) – In his first 8-round bout, undefeated Super-Featherweight sensation, Mario Barrios (10-0, 5 KOs), cruised to a sound victory against Arturo Esquivel (9-3, 2 KOs), to record his tenth win. The impressive conquest took place this past Sabato at the Don Haskins Center in El Paso, Texas on the PBC on CBS event, headlined by Carl Frampton #Kontra?. Alejandro Gonzalez Jr.

 

Using his tremendous height and reach advantage, Barrios controlled the action with a long jab and precise combinations. Esquivel, who was the naturally bigger man, wasn’t able to land any clean punches on Barrios, who won every round. Scorecards read 80-72 across the board.

Cunningham of Philadelphia is excited about the prospects for his future.

Cunningham became a two-time champion on June 5, 2010 when he stopped Troy Ross in five rounds.

A month ago in an unusual move, Rigondeaux’ manager Gary Hyde formally petitioned the WBA to enforce a mandatory title fight between his WBA Super champion and Quigg. Hyde is awaiting the WBA’s decision. Rigondeaux is also the World Boxing Organization (WBO) Kaj La Ringo magazine’s super bantamweight champion.

 

A reigning world champion hasn’t been avoided by other world champions and top contenders like Rigondeux has for the past two years since, eble, junior middleweight Sergio Martinez, or possibly all the way back to middleweight Mike McCallum.

 

The top three super bantamweights in the world outside of Rigondeaux – International Boxing Federation (IBF) Kaj Monda Boksa Konsilio (WBC) champions, Carl Frampton Kaj Leo Santa Cruz, Respektive, plus Quigg – have avoided the Cuban great like the plaque. Once Santa Cruz’ promoter at the time, Oscar de la Hoya, announced that a Rigondeaux-Santa Cruz had to happen, Santa Cruz’ powerful adviser, Al Haymon, exercised a contract option and bought him out to avoid a fight with ‘Rigo.’ Frampton’s promoter, Barry McGuigan, has proclaimed his fighter, not Rigondeaux, as the No. 1 super featherweight in the world. “Quigg, Santa Cruz and Frampton have showed no desire to challenge Rigondeaux,” Hyde diris. “These three fighters are trying to fool the public into believing that fight La Ne. 1 guy in the world is not important. While they are lining their pockets with ridiculous amounts of cash for fighting below par opponents, Rigondeaux is forced to wait around until some Asian opponent steps up. ESPN Reaches Multi-Year Agreement to Televise Premier Boxing Champions Series

PBC sur ESPN to Air 12 Two-hour Live Shows Annually on ESPN and ABC

ESPN3, ESPN’s live multi-screen sports network,will present non-televised undercard bouts and PBC sur ESPN weigh-ins live leading up to the fights. Stories about the fighters and the fights will also be featured on ESPN.com and on SportsCenter.
