ERROL SPENCE JR.
“Sa a batay vle di tout bagay sa yo m '. I still have a chip on my shoulder. I want to be the last man standing. I want to beat the top fighters in my division. Lamont is the one standing in front of me, so it’s fight time.
I think it’s going to turn into a war. A lot of people have thought this would be an easy fight for me. But if you follow Lamont Peterson, you know this will be tough. He’s always in great shape and has a lot of skills. IT might be a dog fight and that’s what I wanted. He’s the guy who wanted to fight and I said of course. It’s going to be a rugged fight. Later on in the fights, he always gets rough and stands toe-to-toe.
There might not be a lot of talking and bad blood between us, but you know that the two of us always give a great fight for the fans.
I had to wait for my title defense and then I had a lot of guys not answer the call for this fight. I have a belt and I still have to call these other guys out. Lamont Peterson answered the call like a real fighter.
In a perfect world I’d be unifying with Keith Thurman this year. I’m going to fight three times this year though. You don’t get time back. I’m ready to strike now.
I’m just excited to fight. Mwen renmen al goumen. I can’t wait to be in front of those bright lights in front of the fans. Brooklyn is a great place to fight and my family from the area can come see me live. I can’t wait to display my skills.
A true champion can’t fight everybody who calls them out, it’s still a business. But a true champion fights other champions, especially when they’re available. You can’t avoid questions and try to delay a fight. You fight the next champion that’s available, that’s what a true champion does.
LAMONT PETERSON
When I got into boxing, I had goals. First I wanted to be a National Champion, then a world champion as a professional, but the ultimate goal is to be in the Hall of Fame. With that being my goal, I wouldn’t put myself in that conversation yet. With wins over a guy like Errol Spence and the other top welterweights, I think I’m right there in it. That’s my goal and I’ll give it my all to get there.
If you left it to me I’d fight every month. That’s how much I love the sport. I know a victory would help me get in the ring even more often. Sometimes if you lose at the top level, other top guys don’t want to take a chance against you. I can fix all of that this weekend
I don’t worry about any negativity. My resume is written in the history books. All I can do is respect the opinion of others and work hard to get this win.
I’m excited and looking forward to the skill level that’s going to be displayed this weekend. It’s going to be a rough fight for sure. But I look forward to the technique and skill level. Defense, offense and transitioning between the two. That’s the part of boxing that I love.
Errol even taking the Kell Brook fight was impressive to me. Most guys in his position take their time leading up to the first title shot, but he ended up fighting someone in his prime in his country. To will himself to that win was very impressive.
When you get to the big stages and those big fights, you have to win more than you lose. I think if I can win some big fights these next few years my career will be in a good place.
ROBERT EASTER
I have no concerns fighting a southpaw. I made my last fight hard, but this time I’m going to use my reach, my feet and my speed to dominate.
I’m looking for a great performance. This is going to be the best Robert Easter the fans have ever seen. We prepared to dominate this fight.
Javier Fortuna is an accomplished fighter but I don’t know too much about him. I know what I came to do. I’m a world champion and everyone knows what I bring to the fight game. I won’t leave without my strap.
I’m ready to fight the best in this sport. I want to become the man at this weight and I know I have to beat the other champions to do that.
Boxing is all about showing you’re the best and fighting the best. I just want to fight these other champions in my weight class. I’m looking to stay healthy in 2018 and remain on top.
Javier FORTUNA
I have no excuses on Janvye 20. I hope he doesn’t either. I will be taking that title to the Dominican Republic for my fans. I’ve been dreaming about it and I will take it.
I have the style and the skills to beat Robert Easter. I know how to make sure his height does not affect me at all. Everyone will see it on fight night.
I’ve prepared myself very well. I have a plan to win every round. If he’s able to stand there, I’m going to break him down round by round.
I am fighting for more than just myself and that is why I’ll be successful. I am going to prove that I’m truly one of the top fighters in the sport.
Robert Easter is a fighter I respect, but I believe I can defeat anyone in front of me. If he takes me lightly, it will go even worse for him. I’ve been training hard to make sure I’m at my absolute best on fight night.
A win would be great for my country, my fans and my family. Winning this title is everything for me. That’s why I’m here and I will not be stopped.
DERRICK JAMES, Trainer Spence nan
I started training Errol about nine years ago but I never really knew just how special he was until about a year or so into our training. I thought Olympics were definitely possible, because I didn’t want to look too far ahead. Now that we’re here, I think he can beat any of the top guys. I want him to be undisputed welterweight champion just like he wants to be.
I never worry about comparing Errol to other guys in the sport. He’s a hard puncher who breaks ribs and breaks faces. The longer the fight goes, the more pain he inflicts. I’ve never seen anybody who punches that hard.
I think Lamont knew when he moved up to welterweight that this fight would be a possibility. It’s time for us to go to work because I know Lamont and Barry Hunter are working on a game plan. They have a great team and I know Lamont will be ready for what we bring.
BARRY HUNTER, Trainer Peterson a
We stay in the gym all the time. We didn’t have to deal with the weight monster this camp. Weight issue can really derail a camp leading up to a fight of this magnitude. We didn’t have to deal with any of that.
There are several different things in Errol’s arsenal that I think we can exploit. Errol will make adjustments though, so I think strategy will be a key in this fight.
Lamont has always been a coach’s dream. He’s the type of athlete that you would love to coach. He does everything a coach asks of him. He will train until he passes out. All he wants is to work hard and compete.
LOU DiBella, Prezidan an DiBella Lwazi-
This is a great night for boxing. The first January date of the year drums up a lot of excitement and we expect a great turnout nan Samdi swa nan barkley Sant. It’s going to be a great crowd and an exciting night from top to bottom.
“Errol Spence Jr. is one of the best young fighters in the world testing himself against another great fighter in Lamont Peterson It’s the best fighting the best. Lamont Peterson is a guy with a tremendous resume. If anybody thinks Errol is going to take Lamont lightly, they’re mistaken and he would be too.
Both of these main event fighters are lucky to have trainers who are real teachers. They are old school and two of the best. Derrick James and Barry Hunter know the game inside and out.
Robert Easter is a beast, he’s got reach, power and boxing ability. He’s facing a guy in Javier Fortuna who is a confident former world champion. Javier has been talking a big game. He’s talking about knockouts. You want to see a guy come into a fight like this with that kind of confidence.
This year in boxing is starting out just like last year started, at Barclays Center with a great, even matchup like Badou Jack vs. James DeGale last year.
STEPHEN Espinoza, Egzekitif Vis Prezidan & Manadjè Jeneral, Chotim Espò
In terms of representing the sport, you don’t get any better than Errol Spence Jr. and Lamont Peterson. The professionalism of these guys is unmatched and they represent the best of the sport. I’m proud to have them on the network.
You can’t play boxing. You have to be dedicated and passionate. Those values are going to be reflected in the ring nan Samdi.
This is a special fight. These are the best in the sport. They’re both top 10 mesye. Errol Spence Jr. has grown up on SHOWTIME.
He made his pro debut on ShoBox and won his first world title on SHOWTIME. This is Lamont’s eighth appearance on SHOWTIME and he has one of the strongest resumes in the sport.
Robert Easter and Javier Fortuna is another matchup of top 10 mesye. What we’re doing here is special. This isn’t just another network doing boxing, this is the cream of the crop.
BRETT YORMARK, CEO of Brooklyn Sports & Lwazi
I’m really excited about Samdi lannwit. We’ve been very fortunate to host the first big event of the year. There’s an appetite to get back into the game and we’re happy to be hosting it.
I want to welcome back Errol and Lamont to Barclays Center. Both have been there before and we’re thrilled to have you back. We’re pleased that Robert has finally decided to take his show to Barclays Center and give the fans a performance. Last time Javier won at Barclays Center he won his world title and we’re happy to have him back.
We’re going to create something great here in Brooklyn and it continues nan Samdi night at Barclays Center.

“Mwen gen fè yon gade nan sa a kòm reyèlman jis yon lòt batay gwo. Lè w ap nan tèt la, ou eseye pa fè twòp nan chak batay. Nou konnen sa ki nan nan mennen. Mwen konnen ke lè mwen kenbe li senp, sa a, se lè m 'fè pi bon.
“Dwa koulye a kò mwen an santi l pi bon pase tout tan tout tan.
Mwen te amelyore chak fwa e kounye a, Mwen santi mwen tankou Mwen vrèman nan plas la pafè nan karyè mwen.”
ANTHONY PETERSON
“Mwen gen fè yon deklarasyon. Mwen pa janm santi yo alèz avèk yon desizyon. Mwen panse ke se yon bon bagay paske mwen gen yo dwe espesyal anba limyè yo klere.
“Tout moun konnen mwen renmen pou yo ale nan kò a. Ou konnen mwen pral fè l 'travay pou ou kapab gade deyò pou m' kraze opozan m 'desann sou mòn lan Janvye 20.
“Mwen te bòks ak yon varyete de avyon de gè ki gen eksperyans sou ane ki sot pase a epi yo te te ede m 'soti menm pandan y ap Mwen pa te gen yon batay. rouye Bag se tout mantal. Li a jiska ou mete travay la nan.
“Mwen pa gen vinn batay yo ke mwen vle, men mwen pral toujou bwa nan jwèt m 'ak bwa nan navèt m'. Mwen konnen si mwen pèsevere, bagay sa yo pral travay deyò pou m '.
“Mwen konnen ke mwen renmen sa a ap pase nan betiz. Mwen konnen ke evantyèlman mwen pral gen yon chanpyon nan lemonn. Mwen kwè nan tan kap vini mwen epi mwen ap chache pou pi devan pou batay gwo.
“Li nan enspire yo gade Lamont fè sa l 'epi pou yo reyisi. Li k ap pase yo bat Errol Spence, menm si moun ki pa kwè ke li. Mwen panse ke li k ap pase yo pran swen nan biznis.”
BARRY HUNTER, Trainer Peterson a
“Li te yon moulen lontan nan kan pou mesye sa yo. Lè mwen panse tounen sou konbyen tan nou te te sou vwayaj sa a, Mwen trè fyè de yo. yo te 9 ak 10 lè yo te premye te vin nan jimnastik la.
“Nou pa gen mons la pwa fè fas ak batay la nan wèltèr. Lamont se nan yon gwo plas mantalman ak fizikman. M 'ap chache pou pi devan pou yon batay eksplozif.
“Lè ou gade nan batay la Spence-Brook, byen bonè nan Brook te gen yon anpil nan siksè. Down detire nan Errol enpoze volonte l epi yo kraze Brook desann. Mwen konnen Errol byen epi mwen te aprann kòlèg l '. Li gen yon volonte fò. Li se pa gwo nan yon zòn, men li la bon nan yon anpil nan zòn.
Nou gen yo dwe pare pou chak senaryo.
“Mwen panse ke si Anthony ale nan gen ak fè travay li gen kèk tit vid nan 140-liv e ke sa a yon tras pou nou. Nou vle yo ka resevwa yon braslè nan ren l ', li nou pral fè fas a nenpòt moun ki jwenn li.
“Lamont, ansanm ak Anthony, Gary Russell Jr, Jarrett Hurd ak Gervonta Davis, yo te kenbe desann boksè nan zòn sa a pou yon tan long. Li ta gwo yo pote sa a lakay ou tit. Gen yon anpil nan jèn Petersons Lamont nan zòn sa a ki vle yo rive jwenn nivo sa a. Li ta yon Beacon nan limyè klere byen bèl desann epi montre moun sa yo wout la.”

DERRICK JAMES, Trainer Spence nan
“Errol sanble reyèlman bon nan fòmasyon. Li gen gwo konsantre. Li se yon bagay ki detay oryante ak antre nan sou ke yo te vèsyon an pi byen nan tèt li. detèminasyon an sou figi l 'pèmèt m' konnen ke li vle kite okenn baryè, epi fè sèten tout bagay ale fè wout li sou nwit batay. Nou genyen batay la nan jimnastik la pa nan bag la.
“Errol gen kenbe mantalite sa a pral antre nan sa a batay ak pi lwen pase, ak li konnen ke. Genyen yon sèl tit se pa sa li vle. Li vle yo dwe Context chanpyon wèltèr. Li se trè objektif oryante e mwen kwè li pral rive nan objektif sa a. Li pa pran pa gen okenn pou yon repons. Li k ap pase pouse tèt li nan limit la ak atenn objektif li.
“Lamont Peterson se yon bagay ki éspirituèl ak entelijan nan bag la. Li se yon nèg difisil twò. Li pote ki determinasyon mantal ke ou bezwen yo dwe reyisi. Nou te yo dwe vini nan sa a batay 100 pousan ak dwe konsantre tan an antye. Si nou pa fè sa, nou ka vini kout.
“Mwen gen yo dwe vèsyon an pi byen nan tèt mwen twò. Mwen eseye jwenn pi bon ak pi bon chak batay ak chak jou nan jimnastik la. Mwen konnen mwen gen yo dwe sou tèt de tout bagay ki te ka rive. Barry Hunter se yon difisil, entelijan antrenè ki pote yon anpil sou tab la. Lamont gen yon ekip gwo. Li se yon plezi ak yon onè yo fè fas a yo nan bag la.”

“Sa a batay kapab definitivman mete yon ton bon pou m 'nan 2018. Mwen pral yo dwe fè yon deklarasyon ak sa a batay. Denye mwen twa batay mwen pa gen vinn yon pentch. Mwen pral yo dwe bay fanatik m 'ak fanatik batay yon montre bon.
“Mwen pral sèvi ak rive m 'ak longè ak detwi sa a Guy deyò an. Tout karyè mwen Mwen te goumen pi kout nèg. Chak nèg kout pa goumen menm bagay la tou. Men, ou jwenn nan bag la epi ou santi ou l 'deyò epi yo fè ajisteman.
“Pa gen anyen an patikilye ke mwen gen pou prepare yo pou ak Fortuna.
“objektif mwen pou 2018 yo pran plis tit ak jwenn epizod inifikasyon. Nou te gen yon chanpyon kèk moun nan klas la pwa, men li parèt ke pa gen okenn se yon sèl vle goumen chanpyon yo ak lòt. Nou vle fè tou sa li pran, goumen moun ki gen tit yo. Nou vle pran tout moun sa yo tit chak fwa mesye yo lòt yo vle pou enskri pou batay yo.”
Javier FORTUNA (33-1-1, 23 Ko) – Ansyen Super Plum Mondyal Champion
“preparasyon mwen an pou sa a batay ki pral trè byen. Mwen te ap travay soti nan Repiblik Dominikèn, men mwen te tounen nan Boston vini nan fini fòmasyon mwen an. Kounye a, nou ap nan 75% ak fèmti nan sou 100%.
“Mwen ta pito opozan m 'yo dwe pi wo. Li jwe nan sa ki mwen se kapab fè. Mwen pa janm te gen yon pwoblèm ak pi wo opozan. Abnè Cotto (5-10) se youn nan mesye wotè ke mwen goumen. Mwen te goumen nan Chicago epi mete yo sou yon pèfòmans gwo. (Fortuna bay nòt yon 5th wonn KO kont Cotto)
“Objektif mwen pou 2018 se al goumen tout konbatan yo ki tèt elit nan klas pwa mwen, ak mwen ap eseye vin mansyone kòm youn nan pi bon an nan espò a. Mwen vrèman vle pou pou genyen yon lòt tit mond nan yon klas pwa diferan. Li ta moman sa a pi gwo byen lwen tèlman nan karyè mwen an jwenn yon lòt tit nan lemonn.”
MARCUS BROWNE (20-0, 15 Ko) – Top 10 klase nan 175 lbs. (WBC, WBO, WBA & IBF)
“Opozan mwen (fransi Ntetu, 17-1, 4 Ko) sanble yon dirab, nèg difisil. Mwen wè sa a batay yo te trè enteresan pou fanatik yo pou osi lontan ke li dire. Mwen te wè yon ti kras nan tep sou li. Mwen konnen li toujou vini nan fòm tip-top, ak mwen tande li se konsistan nan pèfòmans li nan bag la. I just know I’m going to have to be sharp on Jan. 20.
“Li nan toujou yon onè al goumen isit la nan kay ak nan Barkley Sant. Li nan espesyal pou kapab fè a devan nan fanatik sa yo ak mwen pa ka tann yo mete yo sou yon pèfòmans bon ki mennen jiska Spence vs. Peterson batay.
“batay Sa a te mete m 'nan yon pozisyon nan ke mwen bezwen yo dwe nan pou goumen pou yon tit mond. Mwen pa ka manke nan nenpòt fason. Mwen gen vin soti solid ak yon gwo pèfòmans nan kòmanse fini epi kite pa gen dout nan la.
“Pou 2018, Mwen vle ou kapab vin yon chanpyon nan lemonn. Mwen se detèmine tomake l 'rive ane sa a. That vision starts on Jan. 20 at Barclays Center against Francy Ntetu.
fransi NTETU (17-1, 4 Ko) – Goumen David Benavidez nan Barkley Sant nan mwa jen 2015
I know Marcus Browne is probably taking me lightly and thinks he will simply go through me. Mwen espere ke nan ka a, paske li k ap pase gen yon chòk l ', fanatik yo ak ekip li a lè m 'pran plas li nan liy pou yon tit. Mwen vle fè fas a Eleider Alvarez nan peyi nou an nan Monreyal apre mwen jwenn genyen sa a.
ADAM Kownacka (16-0, 13 Ko) – Originally soti nan Polòy & batay soti nan Brooklyn
“batay Sa a se pral yo dwe yon lòt etap nan direksyon vin tounen yon chanpyon. Mwen konnen mwen pral gen nan travay trè difisil ak pwouve ke mwen kontinye bati sou genyen m 'sou Szpilka. Soti nan videyo a mwen te wè sou IAGO Kiladze (26-1, 18 Ko), li te deplase yon anpil, Se konsa, mwen pral bezwen yo koupe bag an. Kèlkeswa sa li pote nan bag la, Mwen pral gen yon repons pou.
“Twa ane nan yon ranje koulye a, mwen ve yo te batay nan mwa janvye. Mwen renmen kòmanse koupe ane a fò. Madanm mwen ak mwen aktyèlman te kòmanse yon tradisyon nan la “Kownacki Fanmi kouri” nan minwi on New Year’s Eve. Depi mwen toujou prepare pou yon batay alantou nouvèl ane a, nou kalkile nou ta ka kòm byen gen plezi pandan ke nou travay. Se konsa,, nou pral gen kèk zanmi soti ak kouri nan yon mil kèk avèk nou nan katye a pandan fedatifis yo. Li amizan yo epi li ede jwenn m 'pare.
“Alafen, M 'ap chache yo vin pi bon an nan divizyon an pwa loud. Objektif la fen pou ane sa a se yo vin yon chanpyon mond. Men, trè premye etap la ap pran IAGO Kiladze trè seryezman. I can’t look past Janvye 20 kounye a. Mwen gen yon advèsè difisil ki moun ki pral defi, epi fè m 'yon avyon de gè pi bon nan kouri nan longè.”
IAGO KILADZE, Twazyèm batay depi deplase jiska divizyon pwa loud (2-0, 2 Ko)
I feel great and my training has been terrific. antrenè mwen se Freddie Roach kounye a. Mwen sparred ak (IBF cruiserweight chanpyon) Murat Gassiev twa fwa dènyèman ki se gwo preparasyon pou m '. I believe I can knockout Kownacki but if I have to go the distance I’m prepared for that.
I know that if I win this fight I’ll be that much closer to a world title opportunity.
“Objektif mwen se yo dwe yon chanpyon nan lemonn nan fen 2018. I want to continue improving and learning under Freddie and with his guidance I’m confident of success.

LONG ISLAND, NY (Jiyè 16, 2017) – Once-beaten Jamal James (21-1, 9 Ko) scored a unanimous decision victory over former title challenger Jo Jo Dann (36-5, 19 Ko) nanPremier boksè chanpyon sou FS1 ak FOX Espò aksyonSamdi night from thenewly-renovated NYCB LIVE, home of the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
Kanpe 6'2″, James was intent on using his length to move around Dan and deliver jabs and power punches off of it it. He had success snapping the head back of Dan throughout the early rounds and built up a lead on the scorecards.
My range was working perfectly,” said James. “I knew he was going to be tough and he was a little tougher than I thought.
Dan got himself back into the fight after focusing on the body throughout the early rounds and was able to break through Jamesguard to land effectively. The southpaw temporarily rocked James late in the sixth round and was able to pick up some momentum for the following rounds.
I was catching him with nice clean shots, but he kept coming,” said James. “I knew he was going to keep coming forward. He started moving his head and made me miss a couple times. I was trying to avoid a big shot but he did get me with some body shots.
Sepandan, James was able to stick to his game plan and had success over the final couple of rounds while fighting Dan in the trenches. Apre 10 rounds of welterweight action, the judges scored the bout 99-91-, 98-92 ak 97-93 all for James.
Fighting on the undercard of his older brother Omar, Brandon Figueroa (13-0, 8 Ko) used high volume punching to dominate Fatiou Fassinou (28-7-3, 15 Ko) on his way to a unanimous decision victory in their junior featherweight contest.
I knew that he was a flashy fighter that was going to have a lot of speed and movement,” Di Figueroa. “I tried to attack the body. He was a really tough opponent. He took all my best body shots.
Figueroa had no problem trying to stand and trade with Fassinou as his superior speed and length allowed him to consistently land first. Fassinou’s awkward style included switching stances almost nonstop throughout the bout, and made it tough for Figueroa to sit down and deliver knockout blows.
This was my first fight back in a while and I was happy to get the rust off,” said James. “Now I’m going to get back to work. I want to get at least one or two more fights this year and then really explode next year and set myself up to be a top contender.
As the fight went on, Fassinou slowed down enough to where Figueroa was able to trap him in the corner and deliver powerful blows throughout the last two rounds. Fassinou ended the night on his feet but all three judges gave the bout to Figueroa by scores of 79-73 ak 78-74 de fwa.
I wanted to break him down,” Di Figueroa. “He took my punches well. I think he won a round or two. I needed to catch my breath and I was hoping to stop him late. Nenpòt fason, I got the win and I’m happy.

LONG ISLAND, NY (Jiyè 15, 2017) – Envenku Oma Figueroa (27-0-1, 19 Ko) returned to the ring in emphatic fashion with a third-round stoppage of former champion Robert Guerrero (33-6-1, 18 Ko) nan evènman an prensipal la Premier boksè chanpyon sou FOX akFOX Espò Saturday night from the newly-renovated NYCB LIVE, home of the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. The show was the first major boxing event to take place at the Coliseum in 31 ane.
The former world champion Figueroa returned to the ring after a 19-month layoff and hardly missed a beat, as he sent Guerrero to the canvas five times over the three rounds and became the first fighter to ever stop Guerrero.
We knew that it was going to be tough to accomplish but I had obviously trained to get the knockout,” said Figueroa. With my hands finally being healthy, we knew that it was actually possible.
After winning the first round on all three judges’ performance, Guerrero continued to fight Figueroa from the inside and attempted to punish him with power shots. Sepandan, it was Figueroa who landed the first decisive blow of the fight, a scorching left uppercut that sent Guerrero immediately to the floor.
I haven’t fought this way in a long time because I didn’t have the power in my hands,” Di Figueroa. “I’ll always find a way to come out on top though.
Figueroa continued to attack, putting Guerrero down for a second time with a body shot and once more with a glancing shot right before the end of the round. Guerrero looked to blitz Figueroa to start the third round and immediately had Figueroa cornered.
After the first knockdown I knew that the instinct would kick-in for him and he’d go all out,” Di Figueroa. “I thought it was going to be over after the first knockdown of the second round but the ref let it keep going.
I’ve been working since January so I’m going to take some time off,” continued Figueroa. “Then I’m going to get back into camp to get back to 140-pounds. I want to be back in the ring by the end of the year.
The unbeaten fighter was able to turn the tide quickly however, putting Guerrero down twice more with strong flurries before referee Ron Lipton waved off the bout 1:34 nan wonn,. Apre bout la, Guerrero was taken to Nassau University Medical Center for precautionary reasons.
Envenku 2012 U.S. Zolenpik Marcus Browne (20-0, 15 Ko) continued to solidify his status as a world title contender with an electrifying stoppage of previously undefeatedSeanie Monaghan (28-1, 17 Ko) in the second-round of their light heavyweight battle.
Despite fighting in front of a friendly crowd in his native Long Island, Monaghan struggled from the start as a blistering left hand from Browne sent him to the canvas early in the first round. Monaghan was quickly in survival mode and was aided when referee Steve Willis halted the bout after deeming that Browne had connected with an accidental low blow while looking to finish his opponent.
“”I could tell that I hurt him, but I didn’t want to rush and walk into anything,” Di Browne. “I just took my time and allowed everything to fall into place.
It was an honor for me to represent Long Island,” said Monaghan. “I knew that it was a big task tonight. Marcus is even faster than in sparring. I’ll be alright though, I’m happy that if I had to lose, it was to a guy the quality of Marcus Browne.
Monaghan was able to recover and eventually make it through the round, but Browne put his foot on the gas pedal to begin round two. Browne was able to trap Monaghan against the ropes and delivered a crushing series of body blows and chopping shots that caused Monaghan to hunch over. The onslaught eventually forced the referee to call a halt to the bout 40 segonn nan wonn nan.
I’m honored and blessed to be a part of this event and I just want to move upwards and onward from here,” Di Browne. “I want a date with Adonis Stevenson next. It’s amazing to have this kind of exposure on FOX and FOX Deportes. I loved the opportunity to make new fans tonight.
Marcus has always been a fast starter,” said Monaghan. “He always comes out very fast. I thought I was ready for the speed, but he is very skilled. I think he’s going to go a long way.
In front of a large contingent of his hometown fans, Adan Kownacki (16-0, 13 Ko) put on an impressive performance against his best opposition to date by scoring a fourth-round TKO of former title challenger Arthur PIN (20-3, 15 Ko) in their heavyweight showdown.
I always knew that I had him,” di Kownacki. “From the first shot I hit him in the body, I knew he didn’t have enough. My pressure was too much.
The fight began with both men looking to impose their styles as Szpilka attempted to establish his jab and evade his opponent, while Kownacki tried to trap Szpilka in a corner where he could tee-off with power punches.
Despite his left eye swelling up after two rounds, Kownacki was able to take the first bit of momentum by connecting late in round three with a series of power shots that appeared to at least shake Szpilka up.
As the fourth round began Kownacki wasted no time, landing a big punch that caused blood to start pouring out of the nose of Szpilka. While the former title challenger tried to keep his distance, the heavier Kownacki was able to land a series of power punches that put Szpilka on the canvas.
I have a great trainer and a great team that has gotten me into great shape,” di Kownacki. “I have to give them all of the credit. Whatever he was doing, I was ready for.
While Szpilka was able to get to his feet, Kownacki continued to keep the pressure on as another series of power punches, led by a strong right hand, sent Szpilka into a heap and forced referee Artur Mercante to stop the bout 1:37 nan wonn,. Kownacki landed 42 percent of his power punches in the decisive fourth round.
It took Deontay Wilder and Bryant Jennings a lot longer to get him out of there,” di Kownacki. “But I still have things that I’m going to go back and fix. Once I improve those aspects of my game I think that a lot of people are going to know me.
He hit me once with a good shot and after that I just never recovered,” said Szpilka. “I think it was a left hook. I’m going to rest now. This was not how I wanted this to go and I’m very disappointed.

Here is what the press conference participants had to say Wednesday from Gallagher’s Steakhouse in Manhattan:
OMAR FIGUEROA
We know that Guerrero is a tough guy and it’s going to be a rough fight. We prepared really well to go 12-rounds and get the win.
I love having my brother Brandon in camp and on this card with me. It gives me an opportunity to take my mind off of my fight and focus on Brandon for a bit. It really helps me cope with everything leading up to a big fight.
Training camp was amazing. We did a lot of sparring with lefties so that my footwork is down. Other than that I was just grinding every day and trying to get better.
I’m really happy to have the team that I have. Joel Diaz and I work really well together because we have the same mentality, but he can tell me when I need to take a step back.
New York is one of the places that has held historic fights. Being on that same stage as great fighters from the past is amazing. It’s one of those things that makes you feel like you made it.
I know how hard Robert Guerrero has worked to get to this point in his career. I want to prove that I can be in the big fights that Guerrero has already had. I’ve had a long time off but I can’t wait to get it nan Samdi lannwit.
I feel like I have everything in my arsenal to make this a successful night. I’m looking to show all of the things I’ve been working with Joel Diaz on and give the fans a great fight to remember.
Robert Guerrero
I’m expecting Omar to come to fight. He’s undefeated with a great record so if it’s not broken, I don’t expect him to change his style.
You have to prepare for everything for a guy as awkward as Omar. I’m going to have to make adjustments in the ring. If I can stay focused I know I can get the victory.
I’ve made a lot of improvements since the last time people saw me. There’s way too much talent in this division for me to just come forward and press. I’m in great shape and I’m ready to work behind my jab do everything I need to do to be successful in the ring.
I’m blessed to be here and have this tremendous opportunity in the main event again on FOX and FOX Deportes. It’s been a while since I’ve been in the ring but I never stopped working in the gym.
I’ve said before that I had to go to the drawing board but this time we erased everything and rewrote it. This layoff has really helped me get in great shape and I’m really excited to get in the ring. I’m ready to turn the page to the next chapter of my career and that starts with this fight.
It’s an honor to be able to work with my dad every day. It’s an incredible blessing for me to have such a loyal team. My father treats me like a man just like he always has. He makes me a better fighter every time out. He knows me like the back of his hand.
MARCUS BROWNE
I’m ready to roll. I’m ready let my hands go and get in the ring and rumble nan Samdi lannwit. This is going to be a great night of fights.
“Sa a se yon gwo batay pou m '. It’s a great fight against a very determined and experienced fighter. Seanie is a veteran in this sport but he’s still hungry. He has a lot to lose, kòm pou m. We’re both going to put it on the line.
I’m excited to be part of opening up this new venue. There are a lot of different cultures that come together in Long Island and it should make for a great crowd.
I think the timing that my career has progressed has been great. I’ve been going step-by-step and I feel like I’m on a good path towards a world title.
I’m very familiar with Seanie from sparring together but I know that he’s a veteran who’s going to have a great game plan. Training camp has me ready and I’m going to be prepared to make adjustments. I’m ready to lay it all out there.
SEANIE MONAGHAN
“Te kan fòmasyon te ekselan. I’ve been sparring a lot of lefties and getting ready for this style matchup. This is probably the longest camp I’ve ever had and I feel great. I’m on weight right now and ready for this fight. This is the best shape I’ve ever been in.
It’s very inspiring to be looking at the place that you’ll be fighting while you’re training. I do my hardest workout on the track right across the street from the Coliseum. It helps me dig deep while I’m suffering.
This is going to be an interesting matchup. Marcus and I are pretty much opposites in the ring. I’m a righty and he’s a lefty. He’s a fast-starter and I’m a strong finisher. It’s my job to turn it into a battle of wills.
I’m fully-charged physically and locked and loaded mentally heading into Samdi lannwit. This is the caliber of opponent I’ve been looking to face for a while and I’ll be ready when the bell rings.
This is my 29th time getting into the professional ring so I’m not concerned about the emotions that come with fighting at home. Any kind of energy that I feel, I’m going to use it for fuel in the later rounds when I need it.
Artur PIN
I want to show that my loss was an accident and that I’m ready to put on a great show for the fans.
We will see how hard this fight will be. That is up to him, because I will be ready to put it all on the line and get this win. People want to see emotions in the ring and we will see if Kownacki is ready for me.
I have to take this fight very seriously. I am in the best shape of my career. I can’t take for granted that I’m going to go in there and knock him out immediately.
I waited a long time for this return. I broke my hand after the Deontay Wilder fight but now I am back and 100 pousan pare pou batay sa a.
Adam is like I was before. He’s working his way up this sport and he’s very hungry. I respect Adam and I wish him the best, but not nan Samdi lannwit.”
ADAM Kownacka
This is a big stage and a great challenge for me. Now it’s time for me to show that I’m ready for this. I’ve never ducked a challenge and I never will.
All the hard work is done. I feel great after a really strong training camp and now the fun part comes Samdi lannwit.
“Mwen sparred ak (top U.S. amatè) Cam Awesome, who is a good mover around the ring so he’s definitely helped prepare me for what Artur is going to bring.
It means a lot to be in a fight between two Polish heavyweights. We’re two of the best Polish heavyweights in the world and only one of us can wear the crown.
“Sa a se pati mwen ap vini soti. I’m going to make a statement nan Samdi. I’ve been patiently waiting for this chance and now I’m going to prove that I belong.
Artur and I definitely have different styles. I’m more of a puncher and he’s more of a mover. I worked a lot in training camp on cutting off the ring.
BRANDON FIGUEROA
I feel like I’ve improved a lot during this training camp. I feel very strong and confident heading into this fight. It’s really exciting to be on a card like this with my brother headlining.
I’m just going to take my career step-by-step and take it one fight at a time. Hopefully if I keep working hard and performing I can get a title shot. I just want to take every fight that I can so that I can perform in front of the fans and give them a great show.
I feel very prepared and very confident heading into this fight. This is definitely one of the best camps I’ve had. I fight a lot of heavy guys in Joel Diaz’s gym and it helped me get perfectly prepared for this fight.
I love fighting on television so that I can give fans a good show. I’m always hungry for the win and now being in New York is an added piece of motivation.
LOU DiBella, Prezidan an DiBella Lwazi-

This show has three terrific fights coming to us nan Samdi lannwit. I love that this card has three fights where the outcome is up in the air and they’re all-action matchups.
Artur and Adam are in something of a grudge match, with these two Polish heavyweights talking about this for over a year, and now it’s finally going to happen. This is an important heavyweight fight. The loser takes a big step back.
Marcus Browne is a young lion rising his way up the ranks at light heavyweight. Seanie has been waiting a long time for an opportunity like this. The winner of this fight is right there for a world title. These guys have been friendly in the past, but they won’t be friends nan Samdilannwit.
The main event is definitely a crossroads fight to some extent. I have tremendous respect for both Omar and Robert. Omar is returning to the ring against one of the most experienced and battle-tested fighters out there in Guerrero.
This is going to be a good night for Long Island and everyone who watches this in person or on FOX and FOX Deportes is going to be in for a great night of fighting.
