The University of MMA has definitely grown as a live event series with the expansion of our fan base and the shows getting bigger and better every time. The same can be said for amateur fighters who have grown and matured within our promotion. Guys like Ryan ‘The LionLilley who will be fighting for us for the eighth time, and Albert Veloz, who is improving right under our eyes. We’re proud to see the development of fighters like Ryan and Albert, who will go on to be great pros,” kōrero U of MMA founder Turi Altavilla.

Two more U of MMA favorites will also square off to become the first-ever University of MMA bantamweight champion, rite Vince ‘The AnomalyCachero a Demar ‘King’ George revisit each other in a rematch from 2013. The two met originally at Fight Night 3, when both were very young in their MMA careers. More seasoned in experience and sharper in skill, they are very much different fighters.

Las Vegas, Nevada – Raa te riri Alliance (RFA) president Ed Soares announced today that the promotion will be bringing the first nationally televised MMA event to the state of Idaho. RFA 27 – Murphy vs. Brock will feature a main event pitting a rising prospect against asurging vet. RFA fan favorite Joe Murphy returns to face the powerhouse Jesse Brock, ko wai te kotahi nga toa MMA rawa rite o ki te karanga Idaho te kāinga. Ko te hui e wahi Rāmere, July 3rd at the CenturyLink Arena in Boise, Idaho. Ka teata te kāri matua katoa ora me te motu i runga i AXS TV i 10 p.m. AND / 7 p.m. PT.
I’m excited to bring the first nationally televised MMA event to Idaho,” Ua parau Soares. “Joe Murphy vs. Jesse Brock is a classic match-up of jiu-jitsu vs. mamau, but more importantly it’s a clash between a promising prospect and a surging vet. That really makes you appreciate the gravity of this main event in what will be the crown jewel MMA event to take place in the Gem State.
Eric Trapp, the president of CenturyLink Arena, also expressed his excitement about hosting Idaho’s first nationally televised MMA event.
We’re excited to help bring such a great event to the state of Idaho and showcase not only our arena, but also our fighters to a nationwide audience on July 3rd,” stated Trapp. “The RFA brand is one of the best out there and CenturyLink Arena is proud to host this event.
Tikiti mō te RFA 27 – Murphy vs. Brock are available for purchase NOW through CenturyLinkArenaBoise.ki.
Murphy (8-2) returns to the RFA octagon after two memorable performances in the RFA octagon within a 9 week span. Murphy made his long-awaited RFA debut this past December in the co-main event of RFA 21 to much fanfare. He more than lived up to expectations with a scintillating first round TKO victory over the highly-touted Bruno Frazatto. 9 weeks later, Murphy headlined RFA 23 against Terrion Ware in what many have pegged as a “Whawhai o te Tau” nguha. Murphy is now looking forward to a new challenge as he travels to his next opponent’s hometown.
Jiu-Jitsu vs. Wrestling is an endless debate. I’m excited to see how I match up against someone with Jesse Brock’s credentials,” said Murphy. “Te tūmanako, he sells out the arena on July 3rd, so I get boo’d on my way to the cage. I’m pretty damn good at turning those boos into cheers by the time it’s over.
Brock (20-8) enters this fight as one of the most experienced bantamweight fighters in RFA history. Brock will be making his RFA debut 9 years after he made his professional MMA debut. The former Boise State wrestling standout has since competed on three continents against some of the biggest names in the sport, which includes bouts against current UFC flyweight champion DemetriousMighty Mouse” Johnson, #3 ranked UFC lightweight Donald “Kaupoai” Cerrone, and former UFC lightweight title challenger Caol Uno. Brock is currently riding the momentum of a four-fight win streak and is looking forward to parlaying that momentum into the main event of RFA 27.
This fight is definitely a big deal for me and the entire MMA community in Idaho,” stated Brock. “I feel honored that the RFA picked me to spearhead Idaho’s first nationally televised MMA event. I can’t wait to perform in front of my friends and family at RFA 27.
Ko te hui tahi-matua o RFA 27 will feature two of the sport’s most promising flyweight prospects, when Idaho’s own Czar Sklavos (11-4) battles Jeremy Horn protégé Nick Burgos (9-3). Sklavos, who hails from Twin Falls, Idaho, has secured 9 o tona 11 wins via submission and has never been finished in a career dating back to March 2010. In his pro debut, he happened to go the distance with current UFC bantamweight champion T.J. Dillashaw. More tata, Sklavos advanced to the finals of the Vale Tudo Japan flyweight tournament last fall and is eager to test his experience against the talented and red-hot Burgos. Six consecutive opponents over the past two and a half years have been defeated by the Utah based flyweight, but Burgosmarquee victory came in his most recent bout. That win came over former RFA flyweight champion Matt Manzanares via Unanimous Decision in March.
The feature fight of RFA 27 will be a battle of two explosive heavyweights, who are hungry to make a statement. Jan Jorgensen (7-1) and Dale Sopi (6-1) are a combined 13-0 outside the RFA and are eager to make some noise in the talented RFA heavyweight division. Jorgensen, who was a football star at BYU before transitioning to MMA, trains at The Pit Elevated in Orem, Utah alongside UFC star and TUF 11 champion Court McGee. His opponent Sopi is a native of Nanakuli, Hawaii and trains at Power MMA in Gilbert, Arizona alongside UFC star and TUF 8 champion Ryan Bader. Pāngia atu i RFA 27 kia ka kauwhautia hohoro. RFA 27 will be the promotion’s first event to take place in theGem Stateof Idaho, which will be the 13th state the RFA has held an event. Ko te kāri matua katoa o RFA 27 – Murphy vs. Brock will be televised live and nationwide on AXS TV at 10 p.m. AND / 7 p.m. PT i te Rāmere, July 3rd.

Boston (Kia 21, 2015) – Whawhai wāhi i runga i Rāhoroi o Te Pirimia mekemeke Champions i runga i NBC card took part in the final press conference today at historic Fenway Park in Boston before their respective fights at Agganis Arena, with televised coverage starting at 4:30 p.m. AND/1:30 p.m. PT.

Tenei ko te aha nga kaiuru amuiraa pēhi i ki te mea:

ANDRE DIRRELL

A title means everything. It completes you as a fighter. That’s the top of the food chain in this sport, and that’s the pedestal we’re all trying to reach – toa te ao. Everybody wants to be a world champion. The greats had it and now we want it. It would mean more for my city, toku hapu, me oku hoa, and it’s something I’ll always be able to look back it. It would put me in the record books for life.

DeGale is not quiet. Today he’s chilling, maybe because he’s a little out of his comfort zone. But there’s a lot of tension when you’re standing right there next to your opponent. He might just be a little cranky today.

I like to lighten the mood and stay comfortable. This is all a part of the game. Let’s have fun now. It’s ass-kicking time when we get in that ring, but outside it’s all love.

There was a time when I didn’t want to do interviews. I didn’t want to go to fights. I didn’t want to hear fans online and on social media. I closed all them down because I didn’t want to hear people ask, ‘When are you fighting again? Talking about talent wasted, or saying I’m glad he’s gone.It hurt because there was nothing I could do. I was powerless even with all the power in the world.

JAMES DEGALE

Andre says the belt doesn’t mean anything to him in the fight – pai, the belt means everything to me and more. I am here to make history and it doesn’t happen without that title.

I could win i runga i Rāhoroi night and retire a happy manthat’s how much I want to beat Andre Dirrell. But when I do win that title, I am going for the rest of the belts, creating a lasting legacy for my country, my fans and myself.

Andre is a classy fighter and he showed in the press conference that he is a classy guy toowhen two fighters who believe in their ability 100 percent and know they are going to win a fight, it is going to be explosive.

There’s nothing but respect between us, but ultimately, we’re going to take each other to dark territory i runga i Rāhoroi po, it’s going to be a brutal battleand one that I am going to win.

Edwin Rodríguez

This is home for me and I’m thrilled. I know I have a good undefeated fighter in front me, so I’m looking forward to a competitive matchup. It’s going to be a great fight for the fans.

This is an exciting day for me. I saw Pedro Martinez pitch so many times here at Fenway and he’s going into the Hall of Fame. Ano, my fellow countrymen Manny Ramirez and David Ortiz have made so much history here.

Being here today and then having the weigh-in at Faneuil Hall apopo and fighting i runga i Rāhoroi, it’s just an amazing experience.

CRAIG Baker

“Ko te whai wāhitanga nui hoki ahau tenei. I’ve dreamed of fighting on a grand scale like this since I first started boxing.

The entire experience has been awesome. It’s going to be an interesting fight. I’m going to keep coming forward. I’m going to keep boxing all night.

Everyone should look forward to an action packed night, I know it’s going to be an interesting matchup.

Danny O'Connor

A couple of years ago Ken Casey and I talked about bringing boxing back to the city of Boston. Fast-forward to today and we’re doing it.

I’m excited to be part of it and to see boxing in Boston blossom. It’s good for the city and all the young boxers in this area.

I know I have a tough opponent in front of me and I won’t take him lightly. I’m planning on putting on a show for the fans come Rāhoroi po.”

CHRIS GILBERT

I’m an aggressive come forward, in your face boxer from the first bell to the last.

I was full steam ahead when I got the call for this fight. I train all the time, I don’t take breaks and I’m always looking for an opportunity. Kihai i taea e ahau e fiefia.

Danny O’Connor is one of the best in my weight division in New England. Everything he does, he does well.

I just need to keep my head and continue to come forward, I can’t get frustrated. I’m going 100 percent the full way through. If I’m busy and I fight smart I get good outcomes.
