LAS VEGAS (Rau hli ntuj 20, 2015) – “Showtime” Shawn Porter (26-1-1, 16 KOs) outworked and out-landed AdrienThe ProblemBroner (30-2, 22 KOs) on his way to a unanimous decision victory on Premier Boxing Champions rau NBC in front of 8,138 fans at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Saturday night.

In a fight dubbedThe Battle for Ohio”, the Akron-born Porter threw 590 punches compared to the 309 thrown by the Cincinnati-native Broner. Porter landed 149 punches compared to 88 from Broner.

Porter relentlessly attacked the defensive-minded Broner with jabs and power shots to the body. Broner tried to slow down Porter by pushing and holding and was eventually deducted a point by referee Tony Weeks in round 11.

Showing the great power and heart that made him a three-time world champion, Broner came out strong in the 12th round and sent Porter to the canvas with a powerful left hook. Porter was able to recover and stay on his feet despite losing the round.

Porter was rewarded for his efforts with a unanimous decision by scores of 114-112, 115-11 thiab 118-108.

2012 U.S. Olympian ErrolThe TruthSpence Jr. (17-0, 14 KOs) remained undefeated and justified the talk of him as a future superstar by stopping PhilThe Italian SensationLo Greco (26-2, 14 KOs) in the third round. The official stoppage coming 1:50 mus rau txoj kab.

Lo Greco came out strong, winning the first round on all three judgesscorecards. Spence Jr. rebounded with a dominating second round that saw him put together numerous combinations to the head and body.

In the third round Spence scored an early knockdown with a sharp right hook. “The Truthsaw his opportunity and put the fight away shortly after with a lighting fast flurry that forced judge Robert Byrd to stop the fight 1:50 into the third round with Lo Greco on his feet.

In the NBC swing bout, rising junior middleweight prospect Terrell Gausha (15-0, 8 KOs) kept his perfect record intact against tough Mexican brawler Luis Grajeda (18-5-2, 14 KOs) with a unanimous decision victory.

Gausha knocked down Grajeda in the third round with a huge right hand that nearly ended the fight. Grajeda was able to survive the round and had moments during the fight but was out-boxed by the much quicker Gausha. The finals judgesscores were 78-73 thiab 79-72 twice.

In NBCSN action, undefeated prospect Robert Easter Jr. (14-0, 11 KOs) made quick work of Miguel Mendoza (21-6-2, 21 KOs), knocking him down twice en route to a TKO victory 2:13 into the second round while heavyweight Michael Hunter (8-0, 5 KOs) knocked down Deon Elam (14-3, 8 KOs) on his way to a fourth-round stoppage.

Here are what the fighters had to say Saturday:

SHAWN PORTER

“”That’s how you beat a great fighter intelligently. We did everything we needed to do in preparation for this fight.

Coming out we wanted to establish the jab and establish that we were the better boxer. I think we did that over the course of the fight, and tried to stick in some pressure, as well.

I think I did a good job and accomplished what I wanted to do. There were no surprised out there, I knew he would be quick to counter.

We established our dominance and that’s what got us those scores that we got and the win.

Honestly my dad (trainer Kenny) wanted a quicker pace, a faster pace. And that’s why you have a corner. I think if I had listened to him better I would have fought a little bit better. There are things you can learn and things you can build upon.

We’ll see what happens after this. I made a good statement tonight on NBC and showed what I’m capable of.

ADRIEN BRONER

“”I’m okay. My kids are okay and I’m financially okay. It’s okay.

Nothing surprised me. At the end of the day, great champions can take a good loss, just like they take a good win.

I still will fight anybody. It don’t matter. I am a real animal. I came to fight today and I didn’t get the decision. But at the end of the day everyone here will take my autograph and my picture.

ERROL SPENCE JR.

I got hit with a couple of head butts in the first round, but I came back strong and got good experience out of this fight.

I worked the body for a bit and got his hands to drop and then I was able to go to the head. That was the game plan; to go to the body, that’s always the game plan. To go to the body, and the head will follow.

On short rest, I knew he’d tire and fade quickly.

I hit him with a right hook to the body and then caught his chin. Then I started whaling on him and it was over. I had a wounded guy and took advantage.

PBC is great. This was my first time on a huge card like this and I put on a good show. PBC is going to help bring in the casual fans and get more exposure for all of us. Tonight was my coming out party.

The other 147-pounders will have to take notice. I want Keith Thurman next on September 12 for one of Floyd’s titles.

PHIL LO GRECO

“”The short notice didn’t really affect me. Fighters fight no matter what. Nothing you can do but fight.

There wasn’t really one big shot, it was more the barrage of punches that ended it. I’m fine though and I’ll come back stronger.

I’d have liked to continue fighting because that’s what fighters do.

Fighting on a PBC card was a great experience. I’ll be back shortly.

I’m not sure what’s next right now. I don’t want to be impulsive, but I’ll be back soon.

TERRELL GAUSHA

I was catching him as he came in and trying to go to the body. He’s experienced though. I may have gotten a little anxious, but I got the win.

His activity in the fourth round didn’t really surprise me. I’ve worked with him before. He’s been around the block and he’s a skilled fighter.

I’m truly blessed to be in this position and to get this exposure on NBC. This gives me the motivation I need to get back in the gym and continue working hard.

I’m going to let my manager figure out what’s next. I just want to keep improving with every fight.

LUIS GRAJEDA

He hit me in the third and I was dazed, but I recovered fast and did my best to even up the rounds.

It was a straight right that caught me in the third and it surprised me a bit. From then on I was just trying to get back into it and get my shots off.

I loved being a part of this PBC production. Everyone treated me incredible. This was like being part of a championship bout.

I haven’t really fought an actual fight in a while before tonight. I want to get back in the ring some more and knock off the rest of the ring rust and get back to my true form.

“UNFINISHED BUSINESS” IS FINISHED, AS KIMBO SLICE STOPS KEN SHAMROCK IN SAINT LOUIS

PATRICIO FREIRE RETAINS FEATHERWEIGHT TITLE WITH MUST-SEE SECOND ROUND KNOCKOUT OVER DANIEL WEICHEL

The long-awaited, highly anticipated matchup between mixed martial arts legend Ken Shamrock (28-16-2) and bare-knuckled brawler Kimbo Slice (5-2) definitely didn’t disappoint. The energy from the packed crowd at Scottrade Center in St. Louis was palpable, as fans from all walks of life had waited since 2008 to see the two enter the cage, with Slice claiming victory by TKO at 2:22 in round one.

When the opening bell sounded, the founding father of MMA looked to shoot for the takedown on Slice immediately, maneuvering into a position to secure a win with a rear-naked choke. But as promised, Slice refused to tap.

Before the crowd could blink, the two fighters were upright and exchanging blows. Slice was able to land a lethal right hook that stunned Shamrock, sending him immediately to the canvas. Just as Slice moved in to land additional blows on the defenseless Shamrock, referee John McCarthy quickly stepped in and stopped the fight.

After the bout, an exuberant Slice acted as if this victory was long overdue. “I’ve been in this position before,” said Slice. “I trained my ground game very well. Tapping was not an option.”

Shamrock, who looked to be in top shape coming into the fight, was full of class in defeat. “When you come into a fight and you get beat you have to show respect,” said Shamrock. “I’m frustrated, I had the submission but I didn’t take my time with it. I lost my position. I tried to scramble, but I wasn’t that fast and I got caught.”

In the night’s co-feature and potential comeback “Fight of the Year,” current Bellator Featherweight World Champion PatricioPitbullFreire (24-2) retained his title against Daniel “Weasel” Weichel (35-9) with a beautiful left hook knockout 32-seconds into round two.

In the first round it looked like Bellator would have a new 145-pound champion, as the German international immediately came forward with pressure, catching the Brazilian with multiple jabs.

Just when it looked like referee McCarthy would stop the action, the first round bell sounded just in the nick of time to save Freire from a stunning first-round knockout.

After the fight, a seemingly stunned “Pitbull” didn’t seem to lose any confidence. “My opponent was very tough, but I can go to war,” said Freire. “I am very happy to still be the champion. I’m here, if you want my belt you can try to come get it.”

“I believe the bell saved me,” Freire continued. “He hit me with a hard punch on my chin but I stayed calm going into the second round because I knew I needed to win the fight. I saw an opening after he punched me and I hit him with my best shot.”

A visibly distraught and emotional Weichel knew he let a golden opportunity slip away. “I started the second round slowly,” said Weichel. “I didn’t want him to recover after the first round. I started on the offensive in the second round and unfortunately I got caught.”

In heavyweight action, Bobby “The Dominator” Lashley (13-2), of Coconut Creek, Fla., made quick work of DanThe ManCharles (9-3), dominating the 29-year-old with a great ground and pound, an arsenal that including multiple suplexes. Referee McCarthy stopped the fight at 4:14 in the second round resulting in a TKO for the three-time NAIA amateur wrestling champion and his third straight win under the Bellator banner.

Charles, who took the fight on two weeks’ notice after James Thompson dropped out due to injury, was overmatched by the considerably larger Lashley, who kept himself in great position to eventually vie for the heavyweight title.

The 38-year-old referenced his esteemed wrestling background as a major factor in claiming victory. “You always go back to your basics in a fight and wrestling is my background,” said Lashley. “I need to keep moving forward, the heavyweight division is wide open. I need to keep my eyes open.”

Daniel Straus (23-6), of Coconut Creek, Fla. looked like he has fully rebounded from his title shot loss to Pitbull Freire, convincingly beating Henry Corrales (12-1) of La Mirada, Calif. via submission (guillotine choke) tom 3:47 mus muab ob tug.

Straus looked like he came into the fight to make a statement, quickly attacking Corrales with consecutive blows to the head that had the Californian staggering backwards on multiple occasions.

“I’m still dominating people,” said Straus. “This is what I do. Win or lose I come in here to beat up my opponent.”

Straus seemed confident that he would have no issues reclaiming his belt. “Whoever wins the featherweight belt hmo no,” exclaimed Straus. “I am coming to beat you up.”

It was a valiant effort by Corrales, who was making his Bellator debut, but it was obvious that he was a step behind Straus from the opening bell. The loss was just the first in Corrales’ career.

In the night’s first main-card contest, lightweight and hometown favorite Michael Chandler (13-3), of High Ridge, Mo., made quick work of Derek “The Stallion” Campos (15-5), needing just 2:17 secondsto score a submission (rear-naked choke) win.

Coming off three straight losses, Chandler clearly looked relieved following the fight. “Derek Campos is a tough guy, he hit me in my mouth and bloodied me a bit,” said Chandler. “I was excited to fight this guy. I’m not in this sport to tip toe and find easy fights.”

Feeling notably confident, Chandler called out current lightweight champion Will Brooks, who happened to be sitting cage side. “I want that belt back,” said Chandler. “Will Brooks, that belt has my name on it, wherever you are.”

Hassan N’Dam promises world-class performance Tonight in Montreal vs. David Lemieux

PRESS RELEASE
For Immediate Release

MONTREAL (Rau hli ntuj 19, 2015) – Former World Boxing Organization (WBO) 160-pound division champion Hassan N’Dam (31-1, 18 KOs) has promised a world-class performance in tomorrow night’s (Hnub vas xaum, Rau hli ntuj 20) showdown with David Lemieux (33-2, 31 KOs) for the vacant International Boxing Federation (IBF) middleweight title at the famed Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada.

A 2004 Olympian who represented his native Cameroon, N’Dam is the IBF No. 1-ranked, mandatory contender, who now fights out of France. Lemieux is ranked No. 4 in the world by the IBF.

I promise a world-class performance tomorrow night in Montreal against hometown favorite David Lemieux for the IBF middleweight world championship,” N’Dam said earlier today in Montreal. “I will adapt to whatever style Lemieux brings. I can KO him in round one, or in any other round. He has never fought anyone with my skill set. Lemieux is coming into the deep end and I will prove he doesn’t belong here. I will show his handlers that he doesn’t belong at the top tier of world-class boxing.

N’Dam’s victims, among the more notables, include Max Bursk, Curtis Stevens,Fulgencio Zuniga, Giovanni Lorenzo, Omar Weiss thiab Autandil Khurtsidze.

Hassan has had the best training camp of his career and he’s going to put on the performance of his life tomorrow night,” N’Dam’s manager Gary Hyde added. “When he is crowned IBF world middleweight champion, Hassan will be right in the mix of the most exciting weight division in boxing. We are not happy with the appointment of a Canadian judge and Canadian referee, but I have been assured by Quebec Commissioner Michel Hamelin that they will do a good, honest job. I accept that this will be the case. We have a world title to win and that is what we will do. Hassan will be crowned world champion for the second time, against all odds, because he’s just too good.

SAINT LOUIS (Rau hli ntuj 18, 2015) After weigh-ins at Scottrade Center on Thursday, Kimbo Slice thiab Ken Shamrock will finally settle their “Unfinished Business.”

“Bellator MMA: Kimbo vs. Shamrock,” which airs live and free on Spike at 9 p.m. LI / 8 p.m. I, features a main event between the aforementioned Slice and “The World’s Most Dangerous Man.” The fight is nearly seven years in the making, after a fluke accident caused the cancellation of their first planned meeting.

In the co-main event, a battle for the featherweight championship will go on as planned when Patricio "Pitbull" Freire (23-2) looks to defend his title against a streaking Daniel Weichel (35-8). On his second attempt, “Pitbull” hit the required mark of 145-pounds.

In a critical heavyweight scrap between two larger than life fighters, Bobby Lashley (12-2) looks to continue his undefeated ways in Bellator MMA against a very game Dan “The Man” Charles (9-2). Lashley was originally slated to face James Thompson, but an injury derailed the tilt.

One of MMA’s most promising prospects Henry Corrales (12-0), looks to keep his record unblemished against former featherweight champion Daniel Straus (22-6), who has only suffered three defeats in his last 22 bouts.

In the opening televised bout of the evening, Mike Chandler (12-3) will attempt to return to lightweight glory when he faces Derek Campos (15-4). The Missouri native has been involved in plenty of legendary wars inside the Bellator cage and if his comments at the weigh-ins were any indication, he plans on making his homecoming nothing short of special.
