GLENDALE, AZ. (October 14, 2015) -Tonight’s Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) rau ESPN fight card featured Mexican brawler Aron Martinez (20-4-1, 4 KOs) capturing a unanimous decision (97-93, 97-93, 96-94) victory over former world champion Devon AlexanderThe Great(26-4, 14 KOs). In a 10-round battle, spent mostly on the inside, Martinez managed to emerge victorious.
The televised opener showcased a 12-round, action-packed battle as Lee Selby (22-1, 8 KOs) made his U.S. debut and secured a unanimous decision (116-112, 118-110, 119-109) win over former three-division world champion FernandoCochulitoMontiel (54-5-2, 39 KOs).
Here is what the fighters had to say about their performances tonight:
DEVON ALEXANDER
I wanted to be smart and aggressive in there tonight, and that’s what I did.
He was coming in fast like we knew he would. We knew he was going to come forward. I just couldn’t get my shots off like I wanted to.
Consecutive losses are tough, but I’m not easily discouraged. I just need to regroup and then we’ll see what’s next. I’m still considered one of the best.
ARON MARTINEZ
I’m the heavier guy. I’ve always fought at 147 lbs. This is my natural weight and I sparred against much bigger guys during the last few weeks of training camp. I was facing fast 180 lbs fighters in camp to get ready for this.
We followed our game plan tonight. I give (Alexander) props for standing in there with me.
Fighting on a PBC card on ESPN is the best kind of opportunity for me. I’ll use this fight to get another great chance like I got tonight.
I’ll fight whoever they put in front of me. I’m always the underdog, but I embrace it because that mentality has pushed me to work harder.
LEE SELBY
My jab, reach and speed were my biggest advantages tonight. That was how I got the win.
All the cuts I’ve had in my career have come against shorter fighters like (Montiel). When I got cut tonight in the 6th round it was the same thing. I caught a head butt.
I was honestly disappointed in my performance tonight. I got the win and it was a great feeling to get my first one on U.S. soil. But the fans didn’t see me at my best, and a big part of that was Montiel’s experience. He’s a great fighter.
FERNANDO MONTIEL
I thought it was a lot closer fight than the judges had it on the scorecard.
I spent the first few rounds waiting for him to come at me so I could counterpunch. But he wasn’t engaging me so I became the aggressor and brought the fight to him.
It was an honor to fight on this PBC card here in Arizona. I honestly think I deserve a rematch. I want to fight him again.

WASHINGTON, DC (October 15)Two days before former world champion Lamont Peterson (33-3-1, 17 KOs) and Olympic Gold Medalist Felix Diaz Jr.(17-0, 8 KOs) are set to enter the ring at EagleBank Arena at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA, the fighters hosted a press conference at The Hamilton Live in downtown Washington, DC. Tus Hnub vas xaum afternoon Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) on NBC event will air live with televised coverage beginning at 4 p.m. LI/1 p.m. PT.
The two co-main event fighters, rising star Prichard Colon(16-0, 13 KOs) and the undefeated Terrel Williams(14-0, 12 KOs)were also in attendance along with undercard fighters super lightweight contender Anthony Peterson (35-1, 23 KOs) and undefeated prospect Alantez Fox (16-0-1, 6 KOs).
Here’s what the fighters had to say just days before their October 17 showdowns:
LAMONT PETERSON
I had a very healthy and productive training camp. I’m looking forward to this fight. I always look forward to fighting. I wish I could fight every month, I swear I do. But I understand it’s a business.
I’m looking for a tough fight. I know he’s prepared. I did my homework on him though. I wish we could fight tonightbut I guess I can wait.
It’s the best to fight in front of a hometown crowd. It’s the best for me, and it’s the best for my fans. It’s always great to walk to the ring and have those familiar faces in the crowd.
Fighting in front of a hometown crowd is exciting just like it is in any other sport. You have home field advantage, home court advantage and in boxing, you have home ring advantage. I’m blessed to be fighting at home, and I’m blessed to be fighting again.
It’s going to be really exciting to have my daughter at my fight for the first time. She’ll be at the weigh-in too, so I’m happy I can have here there with me.
FELIX DIAZ JR.
I like the opportunity but the pressure is on Lamont fighting in his hometown. I don’t feel any pressure coming into his hometown.
I don’t feel any pressure to keep my undefeated record because I trained to win. The Olympics were the most pressure I’ve ever felt and it was my proudest moment as a fighter and as a man. It’s one of my biggest achievements.
After this fight, I want to spend time with my family and see Halloween for the first time in the United States. My kids are excited to dress up and I’m excited to eat the candy.
PRICHARD COLON
I had a great training camp in Puerto Rico for about four to five weeks. I recently just fought in September and I was in great condition. This fight is a great opportunity for me to be seen on national television.
I always a look for the win. Looking for that ‘W,’ that’s how we work. If the knockout comes beautiful, I’m coming off of three knockouts in a row. I’m looking to add another one to my record.
He’s a great opponent. He’s undefeated. I know he’s hungry. I’ve faced big fighters in my career in the amateurs. No worries he’s just another fighter and I know I’m going to be the one with my hand raised Rau hnub Saturday.
I want to make my own fighting style. I just want to be me. When I started my career I wanted to be like Tito Trinidad and Hector Camacho Sr. Those were my favorite fighters growing up, but now I want to make my own brand, and that’s what I’m going to do Rau hnub Saturday.
Everybody in the area come to EagleBank Arena Hnub vas xaum. Qhov rooj qhib thaum 1 p.m. and if you cant make it, tune in on NBC at 4 p.m.
TERREL WILLIAMS
I’m ready to go. This is a huge opportunity for me. I know I have a lot of support with my family, friends and fans behind me.
I have a tough task in front of me. Prichard is a great up and coming undefeated fighter, but I’m ready.
This is the challenge that I’ve always dreamed. I’m ready to rock and roll Rau hnub Saturday.
ANTHONY PETERSON
Its fight time. Make sure you tune in. It’s going to be a great show.
Boxing in DC definitely took a big turn in 2011 when Lamont kicked in the front door and beat Amir Khan. It was a big victory for the Headbangers and a big victory for the city. Boxing is definitely big in DC again with local fights in small venues and fights like we have Hnub vas xaum night at EagleBank Arena.
I feel very sharp. I’m ready to go. I haven’t been this focused in a long time.
Lamont is more than a best friend. I can’t explain or describe it. I’m so excited my niece is going to come watch us fight for the first time. She’s my heart.
ALANTEZ FOX
It’s an honor and privilege to be on the same card as Lamont and Anthony Peterson. They are two hometown heroes that we have all looked up to in some form or another.
I am still here to put on a show, but it is still an honor and a privilege to be on this card.
BARRY HUNTER, Peterson’s Trainer
This is what we do. Fighting has been a part of our lives for I don’t know how many years. I would like to thank Felix and his trainer. Felix is a good young man. He comes with a very good pedigree. I had a chance to hang out with them in Florida about a year or two ago and they treated us with respect and kindness.
Fighting is what we do damn near all day everyday. It’s in the bloodline. Come Hnub vas xaum, we look forward to a good fight. I don’t make predictions, but its going to be a great night for DC, and a great night for the DMV.

ALEXANDRIA, VA (October 14)Former world champion Lamont Peterson (33-3-1, 17 KOs) and Olympic Gold Medalist Felix Diaz Jr.(17-0, 8 KOs), who will headline this Saturday’s Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) on NBC event airing live from the EagleBank Arena at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA, hosted a media workout today at the Alexandria Boxing Club. They were joined by Lamont’s brother, Anthony Peterson (35-1, 23 KOs), local favorite Jimmy Lange (38-6-2, 25 KOs) and undefeated prospect Alantez Fox (16-0-1, 6 KOs), who will also fight October 17 in separate bouts.
The fighters worked out for media and met with dozens of children from the Charles Houston Recreation Center and the nearby Boys & Girls Club to sign autographs and take photos.
Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) on NBC televised coverage beginning at 4 p.m. LI/1 p.m. PT.
LAMONT PETERSON
I’ve seen Diaz and I think he can fight. It’s obvious he can fight. He’s undefeated, but I really think when we get in the thick of this, experience is going to take over and I don’t think he is going to have enough to finish.
It’s times like this when you’re with kids that you really see how important it is to be around positive role models. How you can make a difference by just being there. It is always important for me to give back and fighting in my hometown lets me do that.
When I’m on the road, you have to move around a lot and workout in a hotel gym, but the benefit of being at home is that I get to sleep in my own bed, work out at my own gym and its 100 times better for me. At the end of the day, I love to fight in front of my hometown fans.
FELIX DIAZ JR.
Just like everything in life, we have to climb. Beating Lamont would be reaching new heights in my career and my life.
After the Olympics I took a year off to think about my future. And that break led me here.
I know what the whole world knows about Lamont Peterson. He’s a tremendous fighterbut that doesn’t matter. I’m still going to beat him.
A world title shot is in my future and I think this fight is what’s going to open the door for me.
ANTHONY PETERSON
We get our work in everyday. This is a whole family type of atmosphere.
I’ve seen tapes on my opponent. He’s a tough southpaw. I’m looking forward to fighting him Rau hnub Saturdayhmo ntuj.
I love supporting my brother. He is my best friend and I’m so happy we are on the same card and representing DC and Headbangers in front of a hometown crowd.
I definitely want a world title shot soon and I’m staying at 135. It’s where I’m comfortable and where I will continue to become better and better.
JIMMY LANGE
I prepared for this fight the same way I prepare for every fight. There’s no film on my opponent [Mike Sawyer], so I prepared for King Kong and got in the very best shape.
It’s an honor [to fight on a card headlined by Lamont Peterson] because he has brought boxing back to DC and the DC metropolitan area.
I am absolutely honored to be on this card, because Lamont is a real champion in and out of the ring. You don’t hear anything bad about him, because there isn’t anything bad to say.
ALANTEZ FOX
Training camp went really well. I feel very strong. I’ve got a few more pounds to cut and that’s it.
I know my opponent [Eric Mitchell] is tough. Normally Philly fighters are always tough.
It’s going to be easy from round one to the end. You’re not going to want to turn away because, if you do, you could miss something good.
Every time I fight, I want to entertain the fans, like I’m the main event, even if I’m not the main event.

At age 30, Spong’s appearance will bring an end to the phenom’s absence from competition that was prompted by a broken leg that he sustained in the kickboxing ring in April 2014.

A veteran of 87 professional bouts collectively across MMA, kickboxing and boxing, the one-of-a-kind Spong, who began his career as a protégé of retired K-1 kickboxing legend Ernesto Hoost, has devoted his life to becoming the first fighter to capture a major world championship in each combat sport.

BROOKLYN, N.Y. (Oct. 14, 2015)When undefeated middleweight titleholder Gennady Golovkin stepped into the ring at Madison Square Garden last May and knocked out Daniel Gealelogging what was at the time his 17th-straight TKO victorymany New Yorkers took notice of the Kazakh boxing champion for the first time.

Now, when GGG tilts with David Lemieux this coming Saturday tom “The World’s Most Famous Arena,” he brings with him a global following. And for at least two of his Kazakh countryman and boxing colleagues who now make their homes and train in the Borough of Brooklyn, instead of saying, “I told you so,” los sis “He’s all ours, we knew him first,” they’ll simply be beaming with pride among the thousands of spectators atThe Mecca of Boxingthis weekend.

Undefeated junior lightweight contender Dimash Niyazov of Bensonhursta Brooklyn police officer whose story was chronicled by the Wall Street Journal this past August, and whose next Brooklyn Brawl fight is Oct. 29 at the Aviator Sports and Events Complex in South Brooklynwas born in Kazakhstan and came to New York when he was 13 years old. Like many, Niyazov believes that as big as luminary as Golovkin currently is, as he continues to amass world titles, add to his incredible 33-0 record and increase his stunning 30 KO total, his star can continue to rise to the highest apex of boxing today.

Right now he’s one of the biggest things in boxing,” said Niyazov, who himself is undefeated as a pro at 8-0-3 (5 KOs). “Boxing people talk about him like he might replace Floyd Mayweather at the top. He’s at least in that neighborhood. I’m very proud because he’s from my country, he’s from my homeland. I’m very proud when someone from my country succeeds in any sport, but especially because it’s boxing and I’m a boxer. It inspires me because I see him and I think I can be the same thing.

For Bakhtiyar EyubovNiyazov’s friend and training partner at Fight Factory Gym in Gravesend, Brooklyn, and a native of Aktobe, Kazakhstanthe connection to GGG runs even deeper. The power-puncher, who improved to 8-0 with eight pro KOs this past Aug. 25 in Coney Island, is considered by many to be the second-hardest Kazakh hitter in contemporary boxing, ranked only behind Golovkin. In a nation with many amateur champions who oftentimes struggle to make the leap into the pro ranks, the boxing squared circle is particularly tight.

I am certainly a fan of GGG, I was in camp with him when we were amateurs. On BoxRec I am rated second behind him in Kazakhstan,” said Eyubov. “He is a great fighter, I am seven years younger and will carry the knockout torch. I am honored to follow in the Golovkin path. He set the stage for us, a great fighter!”

Perhaps summing up the emotions of a nation, Niyazov concluded, “Whenever he fights, I feel like the whole country of Kazakhstan and everyone with ties to that country is in his corner. GGG is at a level right now where everyone is looking up to him, he carries a whole country on his back. When he wins, I win. We all win.

With Golovkin and Wladimir Klitschko dominating boxing right now, many of the fighters in our Brooklyn Brawl series are trying to follow in their footsteps. Dimash and Bakhtiyar are no exceptions,” said boxing champion-turned-promoter Dmitriy Salita. “Many Brooklyn Brawl participants are from former Soviet countries and made their homes in New York City to make a name for themselves in the world center for professional boxing.

Rau Hnub plaub, Oct. 29, the Aviator Sports and Events Center in South Brooklyn will serve as the proving ground for many New York City-based rising stars. Niyazov will have his mettle tested once again after improving his record with a six-round Aug. 25Boxing At The Beach unanimous decision victory over local fighter Ariel “Fuego” Duran in a Brooklyn-Queens crosstown rivalry bout.

FORMER MEXICAN CHAMPION TO TEST BERRY ON NOVEMBER 21 IN LEWISTON

Lewiston, Maine (October 14, 2015) – New England Fights (NEF), America’s number-one regional fight promotion, will hold its next event, “NEF XX: A HISTORY OF VIOLENCE” rau Hnub vas xaum, November 21, 2015 at the Androscoggin Bank Colisée in Lewiston, Maine. The event will feature a first for Mainemixed-martial-arts (MMA) bouts and professional boxing bouts on the same event with an MMA cage and a boxing ring set up side-by-side. Earlier today, the promotion announced the main event of the boxing portion of the fight card. Reigning Northeast Junior Welterweight Champion BrandonThe CannonBerry (9-1, 6 KOs) will face RobertoEl ViejoValenzuela (73-69-2, 56 KOs) in an eight-round welterweight contest.

Berry won the Northeast Junior Welterweight Title one year ago in Lewiston with a unanimous decision victory over Eric Palmer (6-8-3, 1 KO). The title was the first in the professional career of the standout from West Forks, Maine. Berry would, just a month later, suffer his first loss in a bout in which he severely injured his shoulder early on. Following a successful surgery and months of rehab, Berry returned triumphantly to the ring this past summer with a second-round technical knockout (TKO) win in Skowhegan, Maine.

I am very anxious as always to step back into the boxing ring on November 21stin Lewiston,” stated Berry. “It’s exciting to be fighting for my tenth professional victory. I’m honored to have been invited back to the Colisee to headline another Pro Boxing card. I want to thank NEF for making this possible for me, and hope to have another action packed, competitive fight like we had in October 2014. A lot has changed for me in my boxing career, and I look forward to showing all of my fans my improvements made. As far as my opponent, the most experienced one to date, Roberto Valenzuela, it will be a good test for me while giving up size and experience. We tried to make a fight with a couple of different guys from the area but were unable to. My job is to train hard and be ready for whoever they put on the other side of the ring, one round at a time.

Valenzuela is about as much of a veteran as one will find in a boxing ring. Having begun his professional career in early 1992, Valenzuela got off to an amazing 14-0 start, competing around his home state of Sonora, Mexico. Among the opponents Valenzuela has faced in his career are the likes of former world champions Andre Berto (30-4, 23 KOs) and Steve Forbes (35-14, 11 KOs) and current world champion Zahir Raheem (35-3, 21 KOs). Valenzuela fought former lightweight world champion Jose Luis Castillo (66-13-1, 57 KOs) on the undercard of a 1996 Joey Gamache (55-4, 38 KOs) and Julio Cesar Chavez (107-6-2, 86 KOs) bout in Anaheim, California. tsis tas li ntawd, Valenzuela held the Mexican Pacific Coast Super Featherweight Title from 2003 mus 2007. He has the strongest pedigree of any opponent Berry has faced to date.

I’ve fought all over the United States, but never in Maine, so I’m excited to go somewhere I’ve never been,” said Valenzuela through a translator. “I’ve been doing this since he was a pup. I’ve been told that he has VHS tapes of some of my fights from some cards he taped on TV when he was a kid (laughing). Thankfully, I’ve got video of him more recently on Youtube. He’s nothing I haven’t seen before in a fight or in sparring. I’ll be ready.

When Brandon signed on to the ‘NEF XXfight card, he was very clear that he wanted us to find him an opponent who’s been in the ring with the best,” recalled NEF co-owner and promoter Nick DiSalvo. “Roberto presents a challenge unlike any other Brandon has faced to date. He has actively competed as a professional for nearly a quarter of a century. He hasn’t sat on a shelf either. He just fought this past spring and summer. Brandon Berry will be tested onNovember 21, make no mistake about it. But Brandon has recently been sparring several times a week all over New England with top-notch partners. He is coming into this bout as a whole new Brandon Berry, determined to make his mark in the boxing world.

New hais Fights’ next event, “NEF XX: A HISTORY OF VIOLENCE,” takes place on November 21, 2015 at the Androscoggin Bank Colisée in Lewiston, Maine. Shelton, Washington (October 14) – Premier Boxing Champions TOE-TO-TOE Tuesdays on FS1 and FOX Deportes headed to the Pacific NorthwestHnub night from Little Creek Casino Resort with three exciting bouts that culminated with a thrilling heavyweight match up that ended in a split draw.
Gerald Washington (now 16-0-1, 11 KOs) controlled the early action with his length and superior boxing ability but the smaller southpaw Amir Mansour’s (now 22-1-1, 16 KOs) relentless pressure began to break down Washington as he closed the gap by landing overhand lefts. With the fight up for grabs the two heavyweights traded hard shots in the 10th and final round that led the judges to rule the fight a 10-round split draw scoring the bout 97-93 Washington, 96-94 Mansour and 95-95.
I think it’s a terrible decision,” said Washington. “I definitely won the fight. No doubt about it. I won the first four rounds for sure. I rested up a little bit in the middle. The last three or four, he wasn’t even touching me. He was chasing me around. He wasn’t landing any shots at all.
My corner was telling me to just jab and throw straight punches. I was landing all the good shots. He didn’t land any good shots. Why would I do a rematch if they’re going to do me like that? Look at his face, look at his ear. Look at my face, I didn’t take any punishment. I boxed him smart. He was being aggressive, but I was landing all the shots.
Washington landed some good shots in there, but I landed most of the shots. I kept the fight active,” said Monsour. “I gave the crowd something that they wanted to see. I gave the crowd excitement. That’s why they’re cheering me and they’re booing him. I’m a boxing fan’s boxer.

Washington was a bit awkward, I was just trying to gauge the height difference and after three rounds tops of gauging the distance between him and I, I felt like I started pressing him, forcing the action, landing the most shots, and tearing his body up. He couldn’t take the body punches, he was running out of gas. He didn’t give the crowd a fight. He didn’t give himself a fight and that’s just a poor way of winning the fight or even getting a draw.

The eight-round co-main event saw Cairo, Egypt’s Ahmed Elbiali (now 11-0, 11 KOs) control the fight from start to finish as he faced Mariano Hilario(now 13-4, 5 KOs) in a light heavyweight showdown. Despite two-way action throughout the entirely of the bout, Elbiali remained more active, pressing forward while Hilario attempted to land counter punches unsuccessfully. Elbiali remains undefeated after the judges scored the match a unanimous decision in his favor.
Nyob rau hauv cov lus qhib bout rau yav tsaus ntuj, Michael Hunter (now 10-0, 7 KOs) outclassed fellow cruiserweight Jason Douglas (now 11-6, 4 KOs) dropping him in the second, third and fourth rounds. The first knockdown came at the end of the second round via a strong right hand. The third round saw a barrage of punches again at the end of the round that sent Douglas to the canvas. Finally, in the fourth round, Hunter battered Douglas until the bell, dropping him for the fourth time via a strong left hook. The ringside physician then called a halt to the contest, following the end of the fourth round.
