DOMINICTROUBLEBREAZEALE PROVIDES TRAINING CAMP UPDATE

Upland, California (Hlis ntuj nqeg 1, 2015)In less than two weeks, undefeated top U.S. heavyweight prospect DominicTroubleBreazeale (16-0, 14 KO's)returns to the ring againstPrinceCharles Martin (22-0-1, 20 KO's) in a battle of undefeated American heavyweights. Tus 2012 Olympian’s bout will be televised on prime-time NBC on the Premier Boxing Champions live telecast which is scheduled to take place at the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas.

Heading into his last full week of training camp in preparation for his upcoming bout against Martin, Breazeale shared his thoughts on his camp so far, fighting on NBC for the third time this year, his relationship with new trainer Manny Robles and his expectations for the bout with Martin.
Breazeale’s thoughts on how training camp is going:
Photo c/o Team Breazeale
Training camp is going great so
far. It’s definitely the best training camp Ihave had thus far in my career. I continue to learn a lot from my trainer Manny Robles and working on fundamentals and technique has been a plus in this camp. My strength and conditioning coach Sean Martinez has also introduced new training techniques that work on my core and help with my explosiveness.

I have had quality sparring here in California and have flown in a southpaw sparring partner to prepare me for my bout with Charles. This past weekend I traveled to San Francisco to work with a southpaw and it was great work.

Breazeale’s feelings on fighting on NBC for the third time this year
:
It’s great to fight on television, but to fight on a prime-time network that reaches millions of viewers and attracts new boxing fans is a blessing. I have to thank my adviser Al Haymon for the opportunities he has provided me and I intend to make the best of them. I think what stands out to me is the fact that my grandmother who doesn’t have cable can watch me for free.

What the Premier Boxing Champions series has done for the sport of boxing is awesome. I hope to gain quite a bit of new fans come December 12th.”

Breazeale’s relationship with new trainer Manny Robles:
A lot of people don’t know this, but I trained with Manny throughout my entire amateur career leading up to and during the Olympics. Although I haven’t trained with Manny in three years, I feel as if we had never missed a beat. I feel very comfortable training with Manny and he has a great amount of knowledge about the sport.

I truly feel that he is the trainer that possesses the knowledge and skills that can get me to that next level.

Breazeale’s expectations on his bout with Martin:
I know this is the toughest bout of my career thus far and I’m definitely ready. I expect to win and win convincingly. With Klitchko being knocked off by Fury this past weekend, the heavyweight division is open for the taking. Beating Martin is the next step on the path to the world heavyweight championship. I am always looking for a knockout, but if it doesn’t come I can guarantee that this will be one hell of a fight.

Now at Welterweight, ThomasCornflakeLaManna sees bright future

LaManna makes Welterweight debut hnub Saturday no against Ariel Vasquez at the Claridge in Atlantic City

For Immediate Release
Atlantic City, NJ (Hlis ntuj nqeg 1, 2015)–Rau Hnub vas xaum hmo ntuj, December 5th, ThomasCornflakeLaManna take on Ariel Vasquez in the main event of a card that will take place at the Claridge Hotel in Atlantic City.
The card is promoted by Rising Boxing Promotions in association with Vincent M. Ponte’s Gulf Stream Promotions.

The fight card will also be in conjunction with Ray McCline of The Atlantic City Boxing Hall of Fame.

LaManna (18-1, 7 KO's) of nearby Millville, New Jersey & Vasquez (12-11-2, 8 KO's) of Managua, Nicaragua will take part in a 8-round welterweight bout.

Vasquez is coming off a majority decision defeat to undefeated Thomas Mattice on November 25th in Erie, PAJ.

This will be the maiden voyage in the 147-pound division for the 6’2LaManna. He spent his career at Middleweight and Jr. Middleweight.

I don’t know much about Vasquez other than he’s a southpaw. I’m in great shape and will be ready for the task at hand,” said LaManna.

I feel good at the weight. I haven’t had a problem maintaining a decent weight so It wasn’t as difficult to make it. The welterweight division is wide open and I see opportunities coming in the near future.

Rising Promotions and Vincent Ponte’s Gulf Stream Promotions is looking to have a huge breakout 2016 and bring boxing back to Atlantic City, but first we have to get past Ariel Vasquez.
LaManna’s trainer, RaulChinoRivas has had success moving fighter’s to their proper weight class and he feels LaManna will benefit greatly fighting at Welterweight.
This will be his first fight at 147 pounds”, said Rivas. “Camp has been excellent and he is in great shape. I believe he has been fighting out of his weight class. He is not a 154 pounder, let alone a 160 pound fighter. He is a Welterweight and people will see his knockout ratio improve.
Thomas will be sharp for this fight. He is still a young fighter and by next year, you will see his strength mature into his Welterweight frame,” finished Rivas.
Said, Debbie LaManna of Rising Promotions, “This is our first show and we are excited to be doing this in Atlantic City, which has an incredible boxing history. I want to thank the Claridge as well as it has been a great pleasure to work with New Jersey Athletic Commission. Larry Hazzard and Rhonda Utley are great to work with.
Said Vinny LaManna, Father/Manager of Thomas LaManna, “Between his last two fights, Thomas has looked remarkably better. This a great move for him to go to Welterweight and I feel he will come into his own.
Said, Vincent M. Ponte of Gulfstream Promotions, “We are pleased with the development of Thomas and we look for big things out him in 2016.
LaManna will be taking part in his 3rd fight in 4 months.
I also like to thank my sponsors MHP, RPM Auto Sales and HARD Beverages.

Vasquez, 28 years old turned professional in 2005 and fought his first 11 fights in his native Nicaragua. He twice fought Juan Antonio Rodriguez for the WBC Youth Featherweight title and held undefeated Eliezer Landas (10-0) to a draw in a bout for the WBA Fedecentro Super Bantamweight title.
He has faced five undefeated fighters including his last three.
In the 6-round co-feature, Welterweight AnthonyJuiceYoung (11-1, 5 KO's) of Atlantic City will take on Cherry Hill’s Anthony Prescott (5-7-2, 2 KO's) in a battle for New Jersey bragging rights.

Prior to the drawing, Chairman Nobuyuki Sakakibara stated, “This tournament will be the highlight of RIZIN. Fighters from around the world who are proud to represent their promotion and country, and are eager to use this platform to boost their career to make a name for themselves have gathered in the tournament. Fighter Quotes:

– 1st Pick = King MoLawalselected Slot A

“I am honored to fight for RIZIN. I am excited to showcase my skills in front of the Japanese fans and get the job done. I’m happy to be able to pick number one. I’m always number one. I’m in a position where others will pick me, my job is to crush whoever stands next to me.”

“I currently don’t have an opponent, but I’m sure that BAMMA will send a good fighter for me. But unfortunately whoever comes will get smashed so he better be prepared. I think Ishii made a smart choice by avoiding me and my bracket. Good for him.”

“That’s a lot of money! I’d buy a bunch of ice cream, some nice clothes, and go to Disney World and see a bunch of movies. I’d go to Vegas and party, and buy tons of gold accessories.”
– 2nd Pick = Teodoras Aukstuolis (BUSHIDO Europe Champion) – selected Slot C

“I am grateful to be given such an opportunity. At this level of competition, you have to be ready to fight anybody so I don’t care who my opponent will be. I believe in myself and am ready to fight anybody.”

“For me, becoming the champion in more important than the money. Money will follow as a result of being a true champion. My mind is set to win the tournament.”

“The reason why I am here is because I believe in myself. I will fight to represent my small country. My opponent has wild striking but there is no reason why I would lose. I will put on a show and come out victorious.

– 3rd Pick = Goran Reljic (Former KSW Light Heavyweight Champion) – selected Slot G

“I don’t care who fights me. My dream since I was a kid was to fight in Japan, and I am living the dream right now, my goal is to show my best performance on New Years Eve.”

“I like the matchup. I’ve been training with Sambo world champion Blagoi Ivanov and am familiar with the Sambo fight style. I know he comes from a great team, but I will be ready to take anything he has to offer so it will be a good fight.”

“I am living a childhood dream. I am more focused on continuing my journey on my dream to become a champion in Japan. I will think of what to do with the money once I achieve my goal.”

– 4th Pick = Satoshi Ishii (Beijing Olympics Judo Gold medalist) – selected Slot E

“Preparation is good. I will not feel that a fight is a fight, the battle on NYE has just begun.”

“My plan is to invest half of the prize money in gambling and will donate the rest.”

“This was a good offer that I could not turn down. An MMA tournament, Good opponents, good prize money. I don’t want to focus too much on winning the tournament because that will affect my mental game, so I will focus on one fight at a time.”

– 5th Pick = Bruno Cappelozza (Jungle Fight 100kg Champion) – selected Slot D

“I really don’t know any of the fighters here today, so I will choose my opponent and hope I’m lucky.”

“That type of big money will change my life and my family’s life. And also becoming a champion. Those two aspects will be huge accomplishments for me.

“It has been my dream to fight in Japan. I do not know too much about my opponent, but I’m sure we will both be prepared for an exciting fight. I think this will be an excellent fight.”

– 6th Pick = Vadim Nemkov (MMA Union Heavyweight Champion) – selected Slot H

“I will be representing Sambo. I would like to show the beauty of Sambo and the art of Sambo.

– 7th Pick = Jiri Prochazka (GCF Czech Light Heavyweight Champion) – selected Slot F“I am very excited to be able to show my skills in a country where the Samurai was born. I will not disappoint you.”

“Everybody here is tough. Since I will be fighting the hometown favorite, my fight will be gathering attention. I would like to use this opportunity and this challenge to become the next big thing.”

“It is so much money I do not know where to start. I believe that the money will come later. So as of now, my focus is to give it all I have to make RIZIN proud that they chose me for a participant.”

General Manager Nobuhiko Takada took the microphone after the drawing, “I am feeling a familiar, comfortable yet tense atmosphere right now. I am just excited to witness the birth of future stars. I hope Ishii can perform in a way where he will make us Japanese fans proud. Ishii’s first accomplishment was winning the gold medal, but we have not seen any outstanding results from him in MMA. I really hope he can use this opportunity to achieve the biggest accomplishment of his career.

QUEBEC CITY, Canada (Nov. 29, 2015) – James DeGale defended his IBF Super Middleweight World Championship in a thriller over hometown favorite and former champion Lucian Bute Rau hnub Saturday in the main event of SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING.

It was the first title defense for DeGale, the 2008 Olympic gold medalist from Britain who went on the road to Boston to win the title earlier this year and chose to defend in hostile territory.

Bute, who was attempting to win back the IBF belt he defended nine times between 2007 thiab 2012, put on an inspired and gutsy performance in an electric atmosphere to open the new Videotron Centre in Quebec City. But the unbelievable pace, as well as an arsenal of overhand rights, body shots and combos from the younger DeGale (22-1, 14 KOs) proved to be the difference as DeGale prevailed 116-112, 117-111 (twice).

“I’m young and I’m fresh. I’m peaking right now,” DeGale said. “I’m ready for the best in the world. Credit to Butehe’s a great champion and believe me, he will be back.”

“Like I’ve said in the past, he is a world-class fighter. I’ve still got things to work on in the next three or four years and I’m going to be my best.”

Bute (32-3, 25 KOs) didn’t look anything like the fighter that lost to Carl Froch in 2012. But while the 35-year-old stalked the switch-hitting DeGale with a relentless attack, he couldn’t do enough to overpower the supremely active Brit, who threw 524 power punches compared to 278 for Bute.

“I think it was a great fight. I did my best tonight,” Bute said. “I think it was a close fight. He’s an Olympic champion, he’s a world champion. If the judges give him the decision I respect that. I’ll be back in the gym to work hard and continue to fight. I think it was a very close fight. I’m happy with my performance and I’ll be back in the gym to get back in the ring one more time.

“The last three years were difficult for me. After I lost to Carl Froch that was a very difficult period for me. I took a break, and now I’m back. I feel great, I feel healthy and now I have one more chance to be back on the top.

“Maybe a few rounds I waited too much and didn’t put the punches together and I let James fight me. When I pushed pressure and pushed back I won the round.”

In the opening bout on SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING, Eleider Alvarez earned the right to face WBC Light Heavyweight World Champion Adonis Stevenson with a close majority decision over Isaac Chilemba, scored 114-114, 118-110, 115-113.

Alvarez, ranked No. 2 by the WBC at 175 pounds, started quick and pocketed rounds against the No. 1 ranked contender Chilemba. But Chilemba weathered the storm and fought his way back in the fight as Alvarez couldn’t keep up the pace he established in the earlier rounds.

Both fighters came out with a sense of urgency in the 12th and deciding stanza and if Chilemba had won the final round the fight would have been ruled a draw.

“I knew I had to finish the later rounds strong, but I believe I did enough to win the fight,” Alvarez said. “I’m ready to accept the challenge and face Stevenson. To be the world champion, you have to beat the champion. So that’s what I aim to do.”

Chilemba argued that Alvarez, who fights out of nearby Montreal, was the beneficiary of a “hometown decision,” although the judge who ruled the fight a draw was a local and the other two were from neutral territories.

“I thought I did enough to win it,” Chilemba said. “But it is what it is. I guess you can call it a hometown decision.”

After the fight, SHOWTIME Sports host Brian Custer sat down with Stevenson to get his thoughts on Alvarez-Chilemba and his future.

“It was a close physical fight,” Stevenson said. “He (Alvarez) won this fight but it was very close.”

“We talk about Kovalev because the WBC still ranks him the No. 1 contender. I want this fight to happen. The fans want it to happen. I said June is perfect for me. He said ‘OK, Rau hli ntuj,’ Kathy Duva said ‘No problem, June.’ Then she said on HBO. I said, ‘Forget about the TVs, let them talk.’ We want the fight to happen. Let the TVs work together and make it happen.

“I want to fight Kovalev. That’s the best opportunity for me because I want his titles. For sure, this fight will happen in June. I don’t have a problem; my team doesn’t have a problem. I want this fight in June.

Kovalev is scared. I talked to him, saw it in his eyes that he’s scared of me. It will happen, but I know Kovalev is scared. I want Kovalev. I’m very hungry to get his titles.”

Adrian Granados survived a first-round knockdown to shock undefeated super lightweight prospect Amir Imam in the opening bout of SHOWTIME BOXING ON SHO EXTREME with an eighth round TKO (2:34).

It was a crushing defeat for Imam, who entered the fight as the No. 1 mandatory challenger to WBC Super Lightweight World Champion Viktor Postol.

Imam looked like he was going to finish the fight early after a nice left-right combo floored the Chicago native. But after escaping the first, Granados dictated the tempo of the fight, worked the inside and prevented Imam – considered one of boxing’s most talented young contenders – from establishing his jab. With Imam unable to keep the fight at a distance, Granados picked apart the Don King-promoted fighter. After seven rounds of punishment and Iman gasping for air against the ropes Granados finished his opponent with a series of devastating combo shots.

An elated Granados (15-3-2, 10 KOs), who has losses to fighters with a combined record of 49-0, pleaded his case to become the mandatory challenger.

“I believe I should be the mandatory challenger,” Granados said. “He was in line and I stopped him. What does that mean? Come on. I was the underdog, but I just came to take it. I came to take it.

“It feels great. Once I had him wobbled I was like, ‘you’ve got to get him now. This time you’re not taking it from me.’ It was a flash knockdown. He caught with the right hand, but I was alright. I just popped right up and I knew he was going to try and finish me. We got out of it and went right back to work.”

Despite the demoralizing loss, Imam (18-1, 15 KOs) doesn’t regret taking a fight that will likely knock him out of title contention.

“I know people might say I shouldn’t have taken this fight, but I needed this fight in between as a tune-up for my next fight because I didn’t want to wait for the six to eight months for the world title shot.

“The key to the fight was my jab, I just didn’t use it enough,” Imam said. “But that’s the way it goes and I’m going to definitely come back stronger. I wasn’t thinking anything after that first-round knockdown. I’ve done that many times and didn’t think the fight was over. I wasn’t surprised at all by the way he came out. I know how he fights. He’s a good fighter and that’s all there is to it.”

In the opening bout of SHOWTIME BOXING ON SHO EXTREME, undefeated heavyweight prospect Oscar Rivas (18-0, 13 KOs) knocked out veteran Joey Abell (31-9, 29 KOs) tom :46 of the second round.

Cave KO’s Rojas To Secure World Crown

In front of a big crowd at the Dartmouth Sportsplex in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, local hero Tyson Cave secured the World Boxing Union (WBU) Super Bantamweight World Championship with a sensational second round knockout of tough late replacement Walter Rojas (24 wins 23 by way of KO and 7 losses).

Cave showcased his exceptional boxing and defensive skills against the big punching Argentinian throughout the first round, dancing around the ever forward coming Rojas before picking the Argentinian off with some sharp shots.

Early in the second Cave landed a pin point accurate shot to send Rojas to the canvas.

Right from the restart Rojas went hard and fast on the attack once more, Cave’s exceptional ring craft enabled the Halifax born and bred fighter to avoid some seriously fast big rights, then as before Cave landed another pinpoint accurate shot to send Rojas to the canvas for a second time.

On the restart this time it was Cave that went in hard and fast, landing a massive shot to the temple of the Argentinian that sent him down and through the ropes.

Rojas tried desperately to get to his feet, but didn’t have enough coordination to pull himself up using the ropes, as Referee Hubert Earl’s count was coming to a conclusion, Rojas collapsed so the highly experienced Earl waived the bout of so that the distressed Argentinian could receive medical assistance on the one minute and fifty second mark.

Following the announcement and Championship belt presentation the newly crowned Champ said.

“Listen I want to thank the WBU for making my dreams come true, I want to thank Rio (WBU Europe President Gianluca Di Caro) and his organization for making this happen.

I must thanks my team, my father and Tony Makhoul of TMG Entertainment for being there for me and making this happen.

Walter is a true warrior, he stood in at that last minute after Jesus Rios didn’t get his visa, he was ready to go, no hesitation he took the fight and came to save the show, a true warrior.

I think I proved I have the skills to get anybody out of there, thank you, thank you, thank you.

I’m no longer the Prince of Hali, hey listen up I’m no longer the Prince of Hali, my new name is KING CAVE.

My first order is we’re going to war in England, we’re coming over to fight Paul Economides, then we want Scott Quigg or Carl Frampton, whoever wins that fight, that’s who we want.”
