Boxing historian and expert ring analyst Steve Farhood has called every fight on ShoBox since it premiered in 2001. He anticipates another year of excellent, competitive matchups in 2016.

Brant, Perez and Miller will be making their second consecutive appearances on ShoBox. Brant and Miller were victorious last Oktober. 23, Perez last Augusti. 28. Robinson will also be making his second ShoBox start; the four other boxers will be making their debuts.

 

“Both Brant and Perez won their most recent appearances on ShoBoxand both were impressive,'' Farhood sa. “Brant took a big step up and outpointed Louis Rose in October and Perez pulled off the upset over the previously unbeaten Juan Ubaldo Cabrera i augusti. So it makes all the sense in the world to match them against each other. On Jan. 22, we’re going to find out just how hot Rob Brant is.’’

Twenty-six-year-old Brant will be headlining his second consecutiveShoBox. I hans första, he captured a hard-fought 10-round majority decision over Rose. Going 10 rundor för första gången, Brant triumphed in an entertaining tight fight.

It’s my second time headlining ShoBox and I plan on improving from the first time, so viewers can chart my progress. This is my time to show my growth.’’

Perez, who hails from a fighting family, has won four straight and nine of his last 10. He scored a surprising, upprörd, a 10-round unanimous decision over Cabrera (23-0 går i) in his last outing. Perez’ last loss came on a split eight-round decision to world title challenger Wilky Campfort i januari 2014. Utanför ringen, Perez is a pharmacy technician at an Atlantic City hospital.

 

Miller, a former New York Golden Gloves finalist who turned pro in July 2009, is a confident, power-punching heavyweight who comes to knock you out. He won his ShoBox debut, stoppa Akhror Muralimov with a devastating right hand to the chin at 1:03 i den tredje omgången.

“I feel like I should have been here two years ago,’’ Miller said. “I’m not coming to make friends. I’m here to annihilate and destroy the whole heavyweight division. After this fight and what I do to Dennis, things will really, really start to pick up. I’m ready to destroy.’’

 

Besides being a hard hitter, Miller has good overall skills and movement for a big man whose weight fluctuates from fight to fight. He’s won his last four by knockout, all inside three rounds.

Dennis, 28, was born and raised in Davenport, Iowa. Before turning pro in June 2010, he was a top-level amateur: 11-time Iowa State Champion, 2011 National Golden Gloves runner-up in and 2012 Den. S. Olympic Games Trials contestant.
The 6-foot-4 Dennis possesses good skills, movement and punching power to go with his strong amateur background. His weakness is durability; he’s been knocked out in all of his losses.

 

“I’m ready to fight,’’ Dennis said. “I’ve been training really hard and I am looking forward to the fight. I just want to get this win and move on as I will have a big year in 2016.’’

 

Dela Torre, considered one of the top young talents in the Philippines, will be fighting outside of Asia for the first time. A big puncher and winner of seven straight by knockout, 5-fot-8, 21-year-old is coming off athird-round TKO over Ricard Betos sista November. 14.

“It’s every boxer’s dream to fight on big cards in United States. This is the next step in my pathway to becoming world champion,’’ Dela Torre said. “I can’t wait. This is an opportunity I will take advantage of and show everyone I’m ready to step up. I let my team concentrate on my opponents and pass me instructions. I just know I’ll be ready and able to stop any opponent.’’

 

Before turning professional at 17, Dela Torre was a top member on the Philippine National Amateur Boxing Team. As a pro, he has made a “name” for himself after an impressive victory over Jason Butar-Butar on the undercard of a Manny Pacquiao-headlined fight in November 2013.

 

Guzman, a 5-foot-8½-inch 20-year-old, kommer att göra sin U.S. debut and initial start outside of Mexico since turning pro at 16 i juli 2011. In Dela Torre, Guzman will be taking a significant step up in class. Han gjorde en tredje runda TKO över Pedro Lopez on his last start in Oktober. 9.

Yeyubov, 29, who could be on the fast track to stardom, is regarded by many to be the second-hardest Kazakh hitter in boxing, ranked only behind Gennadij Golovkin. Since his days as an amateur when he won more than 150 slagsmål, a vast majority by knockout, Eyubov has lived up to his reputation as a fearsome banger who looks to remove the judges from the equation.

 

He’s overwhelmed his first nine opponents as a pro, winning six by knockout in the first round and two by knockout in the second. The furthest he’s gone in a fight came in his second start when he scored a third-round TKO (2:57) över Jhaquis Davis. Robinson, a pro since August 2009, fights out of Charlotte, N.C. A veteran of several scheduled 10-round fights, he’s undeniably the most experienced boxer Eyubov’s ever faced. SAN ANTONIO, TX (December 24, 2015) – Yesterday hot undefeated super-featherweight prospect, Mario Barrios (14-0, 8 Kos), joined the Christmas spirit by donating gifts to the local boys and girls club in San Antonio. Stadsdelar, along with cornerman Rick Nunez, delivered shoes and toys to the kids, brining smiles to everyone involved.
“It was great to see the smiles on all the kids when Rick and I dropped off the gifts,” Said Mario Barrios. “I know there are a lot of kids out there that don’t get to receive many gifts during Christmas so it was nice to provide something extra for these children. It was fun and everyone was happy.”
“Mario Barrios has a big heart and he’s a great role model to everyone out here in San Antonio.” said Rick Nunez. “When he asked me to join him I didn’t hesitate. Together we were able to put a lot of smiles on those kids. It was very rewarding and Mario and I are very happy to be part of something special during Christmas.”

LAS VEGAS (December 22, 2015) -World Serie av Slagsmål (WSOF.com) will return to NBC with a special, one-hour program filled with an assortment of the most memorable and impactful moments of 2015 in the decagon cage, på söndag, December 27, vid 2 p.m. OCH/11 am P.T.

Co-hosted by Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) icons and World Series of Fighting color commentators Chael Sonnen och Bas Rutten, along with veteran play-by-play man Todd Harris, "WSOF: Greatest Hits 2015” will feature highlights from bouts recognized as candidates for “Fight of the Year,” “Finish of the Year” and “Upset of the Year.”

“This was an incredible year filled with some of the best action we have seen in the cage from our world-class athletes, so we are excited to be able to package the most powerful highlights into a phenomenal hour-long program for a broadcast television audience and deliver it to our fans who have the opportunity, beforehand, to vote for ‘Fight of the Year,’” said World Series of Fighting President Far chefer.

Fans can cast their votes for “Fight of the Year” online at http://2015.wsof.com/. The winning bout will be announced on NBC during the ‘Greatest Hits’ program.

The show will include highlights from World Series of Fighting’s historic, first-ever, one-night tournament that saw eight fighters battle for the number one contender spot in the coveted lightweight (155 pounds) delning.

Dessutom, an “International Fighter of the Year” segment will showcase footage featuring each of seven different, prolific World Series of Fighting athletes, including reigning heavyweight champion Blagoy Ivanov and reigning bantamweight (135 pounds) kingpin Marlon Moraes, who turned in at least one impressive performance in 2015.

The year-end program on NBC comes shortly after World Series of Fighting’s 26thlive event and towards the close of its third year of operation.

Among the accolades the world championship MMA league garnered in 2015 were two “Fight of the Month” honors. The first world lightweight championship showdown between reigning, obesegrad mästare Justin “The Highlight Gaethje and battle-tested challenger Luis "Babian" Palomino på Mars 28, as well as the rematch between the two gritty fighters on September 18, were each bestowed with the award.

Travis Kauffman honored by Hometown of Reading, PA

Läsning, PA. (December 21, 2015) – Tunga utmanare, Travis “My Time” Kauffman was honored in his hometown of Reading, Pennsylvania by the City Council for his excellent performance on December 12th against Chris Arreola in San Antonio, Texas.
In the proclamation, Kauffman was honored for not only his fight with Arreola, where he battled the former two-time world title challenger to a fight in which most people watching the fight both at ringside and watching on NBC had Kauffman ahead, but also for his activities in the community, which includes feeding the homeless and giving back in many facets in Reading.

“I worked hard for years just to get recognized by the city I love,” sade Kauffman. “I made many mistakes in my life, but I turned my life around and have done everything to give back to my community and the people of Reading, Pa. I’m honored today to finally be recognized in my city after all the hard work and the dedication. Thank you to the mayor, the City Council, and the people of Reading, Pa for this award. I’m at a loss for words, but my journey has just begun. I love my city and will rep it until the death of me.”

Kauffman, 30-2 med 22 knockouts, is already back in the gym and is looking forward to his next bout which should come in the beginning of 2016.

The 29-year-old Ricci (11-4) av Montreal, Quebec, Canada will enter the World Series of Fighting decagon cage on a three-fight win streak after scoring a highlight reel KO on Joe Condon with a head kick in the first round (2:41) of their matchup in the quarterfinal stage matchup of the WSOF25 one-night, eight-man tournament.

Fodor (10-4) av Kirkland, Tvätta. is looking to notch his third consecutive win in his World Series of Fighting debut after concluding a successful, four-fight run in Asia. The 31-year-old protégé of Matt Hume and brother of fellow World Series of Fighting competitor and costumed superhero Phoenix Jones exploded onto the national MMA scene in 2010 when he ran to five consecutive wins with the now defunct Strikeforce promotion.

Teddy Holder vs. Shamil Gamzatov

Hållare (9-2) av Bartlett, Tenn. is a former high school football star turned MMA machine who made his first big mark in the sport at WSOF19 on Mars 28 after being bumped up from the event’s undercard to a co-main event matchup with established star Thiago Silva, on the day of the event due to the withdrawal of Silva’s original opponent, Matt Hamill, from the matchup.

Hållare, whose nine-career victories have all come by way of (T)KO eller underkastelse, scored an upset, första omgången (2:00) TKO on Silva with a barrage of punches.

The unbeaten Gamzatov (9-0) av Makhachkala, Russia will make his debut in the U.S. after finishing all of his professional opponents to date in either the first or second round. The 25-year-old is the number two ranked light heavyweight in the Ukraine and the number 24 ranked light heavyweight in Russia.

SANTA MONICA, Calif. (December 21, 2015) – A heavyweight contest pitting Cheick Kongo (23-10-2) against the undefeated Augusto Sakai (9-0) has been added to the main card of “Bellator 150: Galvao vs.. Dantas 2 " vid Kansas Star Arena i Mulvane, Kansas, på Februari 26.

Kongo will be making his eighth appearance under the Bellator MMA banner, looking to add to his impressive promotional mark of 5-2. The Paris native has fought a who’s who in the mixed martial arts landscape, with notable wins against Mirko Cro Cop, Pat Barry, Matt Mitrione, and Alexander Volkov already on his record. In his last outing – which just so happened to be inside the Kansas Star Arena — Kongo impressively defeated Volkov via unanimous decision.

 

Maintaining an unblemished record to begin his professional career, Sakai will face arguably his stiffest competition to date when he meets Kongo on Februari. 26. With seven finishes in nine outings, the 24-year-old Brazilian most recently finished Alex Huddleston vid "Bellator 145: Med besked. "
