M-1 Global extends contracts with Ivan Buchinger, Stephan Puetz & Lee Morrison

PETERSBURG, Russja (Jannar 27, 2016) – President M-1 Global Vadim Finklechtein has announced contract extensions for M-1 featherweight championJohn “Dan huwa l-” BUCHINGER, former M-1 Challenge light heavyweight titlist Stephan “T-800” Puetz and top American featherweight contender Lee “American Bulldog” Morrison.
“We’ve prolonged the contract with M-1 Global veteran fighters Buchinger, Puetz and Morrison,” Finkelchtein said. “We constantly work on our roster to have the best possible fighters.”
BUCHINGER (30-4-0, M-1: 5-0-0), the 29-year-old from Slovakia, captured the vacant M-1 Challenge featherweight title in 2014, via a fourth-round knockout of Tural Raginov fi M 1 Isfida 52. In his last fight this past October, Buchinger successfully defended his title with a unanimous decision over current M-1 Challenge lightweight champion Mansour “Tarzan” Barnaoui fi M 1 Isfida 62.
Puetz (13-2-0, M-1: 4-1-0), fighting out of Germany, is an electrifying fighter who won the M-1 Challenge light heavyweight champion in 2014, tieħu deċiżjoni minnViktor Nemkov fi M 1 Isfida 46. Promoter Greg Cohen of Greg Cohen Promotions says he could not be happier with the performance turned in last Friday night by the fighter he co-promotes (with Dmitriy Salita of Salita Promotions), undefeated heavyweight slugger Jarrell “Big Baby” Taħħan.
Taħħan, issa 16-0-1, 14 Kos, showed both his frightening power and excellent boxing skills while scoring a brutal TKO 7 over an extremely game Donovan Dennis. Fighting in the co-main event of a nationally televised ShoBox: The New Generation from the Casino Del Sol in Tucson, Arizona, Miller made believers out of many by displaying depth and ring intelligence to go with his sledgehammer fists.
“Jarrell showed he’s not just a big puncher,” qal Greg Cohen. “He showed the ability to change up his game plan during a fight. That’s very important at the higher levels of the division. He nearly took Dennis’ head off in the first round, but when he saw that somehow he was going to survive for a while, he switched up to boxing and re-established his dominance that way. It was exactly what he should have done in there.”
Taħħan, who won the NABA Heavyweight Championship with the victory, is now in line for an even higher-profile showdown with a rated contender.
“Jarrell is a force to be reckoned with and with his power, skill, athleticism and charisma, he can become a worldwide star and be the man to restore the heavyweight division to its glory of yesteryear,” Cohen kompliet. “People love him and can’t enough of him!”
Cohen says that even though Miller called out the champions of the division after the victory, the probable next step will be a top-ten fighter in one of the sanctioning organizations.
“We believe he can beat any of the champions right now, illum. But to get him there we will have to next focus on someone rated above him and take their spot by force. But I have every confidence we are less than a year away from getting Jarrell the world title shot he wants more than anything.”

The first M-1 Grand Prix match of 2016 is set in the middleweight division as three-time Bellator champion Alexander “Storm” Shlemenko (51-9-0, M-1: 2-0-0) takes on former M-1 Challenge middleweight and light heavyweight titlist Vyacheslav Vasilevsky (27-3-0, M-1: 10-1-0)fi M 1 Isfida 64, Frar 19 at Olympic Stadium in Moscow.
The winners of Shlemenko vs. Vasilevsky and Emeev vs. Falcao will advance to the M-1 Grand Prix middleweight championship later this year.
“We tried to get the strongest middleweight fighters and did a great job to give fans the most spectacular match-ups,” President M-1 Global Vadim Finkelchtein qal. “Every single fight is intriguing in M-1 Grand Prix. I can’t guess how these fights will end up. Every single fighter has his advantages. Għalhekk, I think all of these fights are 50-50.”
Emeev (13-3-0, M-1: 7-1-0), l- 2015 M-1 Global Fighter of the Year, is a two-time M-1 Challenge middleweight champion. Born in Azerbaijan but fighting and training out of Markaxhkala, Russja, Emeev originally captured the vacant M-1 Challenge middleweight crown in 2012 fi M 1 Isfida 35, winning a decision over Mario Miranda. Emeev successfully defended his title in a rematch five months later with Miranda, who was stopped via strikes in the third round at M 1 Isfida 38.
In his next title defense, Emeev lost his title belt at M 1 Isfida 51 as Vasilevsky won by fourth-round stoppage via punches. LOWELL, Massa. (Jannar 25, 2016) – Returning New England Golden Gloves welterweight champion Xavier Vega, Lawrence (MA), leads a host of talented open and novice class amateur boxers into this Thursday night’s (Jan. 8) in the Central New England (akbar Lowell) semifinals of the 70th annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship at historic Lowell Memorial Auditorium.
The 21-year-old Vega, representing Canal Street Boxing, faces Nashua (NH) isfidant Michael Fontanez in one of eight open class matches. There are also eight novice class matches scheduled.
Vega, who has a 33-3 rekord dilettanti, didn’t start boxing until he was 17 because he has only one kidney. A construction worker by day, Vega hopes to become a professional boxer and, jekk le, a Lawrence police officer in order to give back to his community.

A novice super heavyweight showdown between heavy hitters Ryan Brooks, of Weymouth (MA), and Boston’s Christian Ortiz. One of the most exciting boxers in action dan il-Ħamis evening is novice light welterweight Edwin Rozon, of Haverhill (MA). Arlington’s novice middleweight Peter Maher, representing the Somerville Boxing Club, is a promising prospect.

Said Vasquez, “Of course I won the fight, but Martinez is a tough competitor, a tough Mexican fighter. I tried to mix it up with him a little bit, but there was no sense in me trying to do that. I could have easily outboxed him, which I started to do, but I wanted more. I was just starting to warm up.
“A victory feels good of course, but I wanted more. I wanted to go 12 rawnds, if it would have lasted that long. I wanted a very decisive win. Sfortunatament, he got hurt, but every fight is a learning experience for me.
“It’s on to the next chapter and I’m ready for all of the guys at the top. Eventwalment, I’m going to get them.”
A disappointed Martinez stated, “I hurt my elbow. I couldn’t throw my jab. I started to feel it in the third round. The doctor stopped it.
“I was doing okay. Not my best. I tried, but once I hurt my elbow, I knew it was going to be tough to continue.”
Opening the telecast was an outstanding heavyweight back and forth brawl between
2012 U.S. Olympian Dominic “Trouble” BREAZEALE, (17-0, 15 Kos) tal Glendale, California and Amir “Iebsa” Mansour, (22-2-1, 16 Kos), ta 'Philadelphia.

muscular southpaw with battering uppercuts and hooks on the inside.
Following the fifth round, Mansour bit through his tongue and cited a jaw injury (which was not broken) and could not continue as the valiant Breazeale was awarded the well-earned victory.
Said a happy Breazeale, “I didn’t know what happened. Usually when they wave off a fight, it’s over. Shows I have punching power after all.
“I’ve been on the canvas before. I just had my hand in the wrong place. I knew I could get back up. Jien fil-forma kbira. It happens to the best of us.

The welterweight showdown will air live on CBS at 8:30 p.m. U / 5:30 p.m. PT from Mohegan Sun Casino Resort in Uncasville, Connecticut. Against Porter, Thurman will now get a chance to prove what he’s been claiming for years – that he’s the world’s best welterweight – in the toughest test of his career.

 

“Showtime” Porter has built one of the most impressive resumes in the division since making his welterweight debut in 2010. Ilbes, who surprisingly turned professional as a super middleweight (168 liri), won the IBF crown in 2013 with an impressive unanimous decision over Devon Alexander.

 

The physically-gifted and offensive-minded Ohio native knocked out former two-division world champion Paulie Malignaggi with a brutal clean right hand in April of 2014 in the lone defense of his title. Porter lost the IBF belt less than four months after the Malignaggi victory in a close majority decision defeat to undefeated British superstar Kell Brook, but he bounced back with a fifth-round knockout of Erick Bone in March of 2015.
