PARA DIVULGAÇÃO IMEDIATA: Lewiston, Maine (Maio 5, 2017) Fights -Nova Inglaterra (NEF) retorna ao Androscoggin Bank Colisee em Sábado, Junho 17, 2017 com o próximo evento da promoção de luta, “NEF 29: ESTRELAS & LISTRAS.” O evento contará com uma lista completa de artes marciais mistas (MMA) e lutas de boxe profissional. Hoje cedo, NEF anunciou a adição de um ataque pluma profissional para o cartão da luta. Matt “Ken boneca” Denning (4-6) vai assumir Dominic “Dominação” Jones (1-0) com um peso de 145 libras. Ambos os atletas vêm de vitórias no último fim de semana em “NEF 28.”
Denning entrou na jaula há seis dias procurando quebrar uma derrapagem de quatro lutas. O Central Maine Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (CMBJJ) o peso pena trabalhou no chão e finalizou Josh Parker (5-9) com uma guilhotina no primeiro assalto. PAUL GORMAN RETURNING TO CAGE AFTER THREE-YEAR ABSENCE

The professional portion of the card will feature a high-level catchweight bout between Paul Gorman (10-9) e James “The Flyin’ Hawaiian” Blair (5-0) at 130-pounds.
Paul Gorman is a twelve-year veteran of the New England MMA circuit. He captured the NEF Bantamweight Title at “NEF 5.” Gorman would go on to successfully defend that title against Tateki Matsuda (12-8) in a five-round split decision victory that is to this day considered one of the greatest battles to ever take place in the NEF cage. Months later, Matsuda would sign with the UFC. Gorman finally dropped the title in the summer of 2014 to Tim Goodwin (10-6) in a hard-fought, five-round decision loss. He has not competed in the MMA cage since.
Gorman received his black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu from Maine MMA pioneer, and head coach of the Academy of MMA in Portland, Jay Jack. He has spent the last month training on the Indonesian island of Bali at Anthony Leone’s gym known as “Bali MMA.” Longtime NEF fans will recall that Leone (15-7) and Gorman were the co-main event of “NEF I.”
“I’m happy to be returning to the NEF cage on Junho 17,” said Gorman when reached for comment in Bali. “It’s been what feels like forever since I’ve been under the lights, and I can’t wait to get in there and compete again.”
A native of Hawaii now based in Florida, undefeated James Blair represents the world-renowned American Top Team (TO) de Coconut Creek. After an amateur career of 7-1, Blair turned pro in 2014. He captured the Island Fights Flyweight Title late last year. Blair will make his NEF debut on Junho 17 against Gorman. Recentemente, Blair has trained with former NEF Lightweight Champion, and current UFC signee, Devin Powell (8-2) at ATT. He even travelled north with Powell to make an in-cage appearance announcing the Gorman fight at “NEF 28” last weekend in Lewiston.

Melson to run for New York Congress

Nova Iorque, Nova Iorque (Maio 3, 2017) – Retired professional boxer, current public speaker, 2003 West Point graduate and Army Public Affairs Officer Boyd Melson announced he’ll run for Congress in 2018 for New York’s 11th District, covering Staten Island and South Brooklyn.
Born to a Jewish mother & Louisiana Creole father, Melson’s a lifelong New Yorker who’s dedicated most of his adult life to serving the public. The 35-year-old has resided in Manhattan, Brooklyn and White Plains. Melson also has close ties to Staten Island, where he currently runs free boxing clinics for men and women battling or recovering from addiction.
Following an outstanding amateur boxing career, Melson turned pro in 2010 with the sole intention of raising funds and awareness. Between donating 100% of his fight purses, private donations in his honor and charity galas, Melson, Co-Founder of Team Fight To Walk, helped raise more than $400,000 to help cure Chronic Spinal Cord Injuries, combat Staten Island’s drug epidemic and assist his childhood friend with a son battling brain cancer. He retired from boxing in 2016 com um 15-2-1 registro, winning a World Boxing Council (WBC) United States Championship in 2015.
Upon the competition of his final professional fight, Promoter Lou DiBella said he’d never promoted a better man than Boyd Melson.
His unique mission through boxing was chronicled by The Huffington Post, ESPN, Yahoo, Sports Illustrated, HBO Real Sports and The Wall Street Journal among many other media outlets.
As a public and motivational speaker, Melson’s addressed an array of audiences, many of which he spoke to pro bono. His audiences include attendees at New York’s 2017 Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Conference, elementary to college age students, Army Battalions, Army Corps level leadership, college sports teams, Fortuna 500 companies and religious organizations. He also served as a mentor at Steve Harvey’s Youth Mentorship Camp in July 2016 and was a special guest at various charitable events in New York.
Currently serving our country through the US Army Reserves, literally fighting to raise funds and having traveled the country to assist and motivate others, Melson epitomizes the meaning of a public servant.
