The confident and hard-hitting Miller has knocked out seven consecutive opponents since his pro debut in 2009. Following a voluntary layoff due to contractual disputes, the 28-year-old former professional kickboxer will take a step up in opposition when he faces Washington, un U.S. Navy veteran who challenged heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder earlier this year in a hard-fought bout.

The 6-foot-6 Washington, 35, is a well-rounded athlete from Vallejo, California. who turned to pro boxing in 2012. He played football under Pete Carroll and Steve Sarkisian at University of Southern California and was part of the Buffalo Bills and Seattle Seahawks practice squads before turning to boxing. Washington holds victories over experienced one-time Wladimir Klitschko foe Eddie Chambers and veteran Ray Austin. He will be making his East Coast debut on Julio 29.

CANCUN, México (Julio 6 2017) – La tercera entrega del 2017 “Cancún Boxing” serie, presentado por Pepe Gomez Boxing en asociación con Neon Star Sports & Entretenimiento, saldrá al aire este sábado por la noche (Julio 7) en Norte América, a partir de 8 p.m. Y / 5 p.m. PT, en CBS Sports Network. Seguirá una nueva presentación en 12 p.m. Y.

El evento tuvo lugar este pasado 3 ª de junio de en Grand Oasis Cancún el Complejo Hotelero, El ÚNICO Resort de Entretenimiento Todo Incluido Definitivo de Cancún, que alberga todos los eventos de la serie.

Ex campeón mundial de peso mínimo de la FIB / OMB Francisco “Chihuas” Rodríguez, Jr. (22-4-1, 14 KOs) luchó por el reemplazo tardío Rolando “El Duende” Gusman (15-3, 9 KOs), de argentina, en la eliminatoria por el título mundial de peso mosca del CMB de 12 asaltos. Rodríguez’ oponente original, “Lil” Oscar Cantu (14-1, 1 KO), resultó lesionado en un accidente automovilístico solo días antes del evento programado.
Rodríguez, 23, ganó su primer título mundial en 2014, deteniéndose previamente invicto merlito sabillo (23-0-1), la pelea defensora del título de peso mínimo de la OMB en México, en el 10ºronda. Más tarde ese mismo año, Rodríguez defendió con éxito su corona de la OMB con una decisión unánime en 12 asaltos sobre el titular del título de peso mínimo de la FIB Katsunari Takayama (27-6) para convertirse en campeón mundial unificado. Rodríguez dejó vacante ambos títulos a finales 2014.
Rodríguez, de 23 años, desafió sin éxito al campeón mundial de peso mosca ligero de la AMB Donnie Nietes (35-1-4), el actual campeón mundial de peso mosca de la FIB, dejando caer una decisión unánime de 12 asaltos.
Rodríguez, 2-1 en peleas de título mundial, es 2-3 vs. campeones mundiales pasados, incluyendo la única derrota por nocaut de su carrera, en 2015, a Romano “Chocolalito” Rodríguez (35-0), el futuro “Rey libra-4-libra” de nicaragua.
Gusman es un ex campeón interino de peso supermosca latino de la OMB y de peso gallo internacional de la AMB..
La co-estelar de ocho asaltos es una revancha femenina de peso pluma entre rivales mexicanos. Jack Calvo (10-2-1, 1 KO) y Yesenia “La nina” Gómez (13-4-1, 6 KOs). Los dos pelearon por un empate a seis asaltos el pasado abril en una cartelera de Cancún Boxing.
El abridor televisado es un ocho asaltos, pelea sin título entre un par de pesos ligeros mexicanos, Campeón Latino del CMB Francisco “Paquito” Rojo (19-2, 12 KOs) y campeón de la costa del Pacífico mexicano Jesús “Kiligua” Velazco (13-9-2, 5 KOs).

On facing another undefeated fighter in Omar Figueroa:
“I’m always looking to battle the best possible fighters out there and Omar Figueroa is no different. He’s undefeated and looking to take his career to the next level but I have other plans. Figueroa has a come forward style that I’ll be prepared for. Estilísticamente, we both like to go for it so fans should expect to see a lot of hard shots being thrown in this fight. It’s going to be a war.”

LAS VEGAS, Nevada (Julio 5, 2017) – After traveling overseas for the “Monkstown Dublin Box Cup 2017”, an international amateur boxing tournament in Ireland, Demler Zamora III de los Pound-4-Pound Boxing program in Las Vegas, brought home a gold medal. Adicionalmente, Zamora was voted most outstanding boxer of the tournament, which hosted over 1,000 fighters from around the world.
“Demler Zamora III is a special talent and one of the best boxers in our program,” said Pound-4-Pound owner Richard Barrientes. “Su padre Demler II, who is his head coach, puts in a lot of work to make his son the fighter he is. He’s an amazing coach and he’s a big reason for the success of our program with is knowledge of the sport, in addition to his strength and conditioning workouts. For Demler to bring back a gold medal and the most outstanding boxer of the tournament, says a lot about the kid, su padre, and our program. Our kids strive to be the best and their hard work shows when they come out victorious in these tournaments. I couldn’t be happier for the Zamora’s. They are a very hard-working family.”

“The Bosnian Prince” Armin Mrkanovic gets robbed in West Virginia

Queens, Nueva York (Julio 5, 2017) – On June 24th, cruiserweight Armin Mrkanovic went into his UBF All-Americas title bout with Josh Himes, thinking that even though he was fighting in his opponent’s home territory of Moundsville, Virginia Occidental, that he would receive a fair shake.

That was not the case as most ringside observers believed that Mrkanovic should have come out with the verdict, but instead it was Himes who came out with the unanimous decision by scores of 77-75, 79-73 and an inexplicable 80-72 cuenta.
“Antes de la pelea, I knew I could and would beat him easily. Antes de la pelea, i was told that my wife got stuck on the road on her drive to West Virginia, and I can admit that I lost the first two rounds,” said Mrkanovic. “I then clearly won five of the next rounds, so for those two judges to give zero and one round shows that something was not right with the fight.”
Mrkanovic claims that even Himes’ team agreed that wrong man had his hand raised.
“After the fight was over, his trainer apologized to me, and admitted the fight was at worst a draw, but said that I should have won the fight. The two other cornermen echoed the same sentiments.”
Mrkanovic wanted to view the fight for himself, but has received pushback from the local promotion.
“I asked for a copy of the fight, and the promoter has refused to show me. He did not want to share for fear that I would be able to look at what happened. It would have done two things, I would have even a more clear argument plus if there is a rematch, I could further expose Himes’ flaws and be even better the next time around. It is funny, I was told that there a handful of people filming it to Facebook Live, but mysteriously those videos are gone. The President of the UBF requested the video, and he can’t even view it.The local paper only mentioned the result of the fight, but made other fight’s more prominent in their story. I was lucky that I was able to download one of those copies to my phone. I am able to view it, but because the original copy is erased, it is not shareable.”
“My team is working on out options on what we can do about this miscarriage of justice.”
