Promoter Tuto Zabala Jr. of All Star Boxing, Inc. announced today that Olympians Antonio Vargas (5-0-3 KO ਦੇ) of Kissimmee, ਵਿੱਚ. and Jeyvier Cintron (2-0-1 KO) Bayamon ਦੇ, Puerto Rico have been added to the undercard for the 2018 Boxeo Telemundo’s season premiere on February 23rd at the Osceola Heritage Park Events Center in Kissimmee, Florida.

ਨੇਬਰਹੁੱਡਜ਼ (20-0 12 ਕੋਸ), who is trained by Virgil Hunter, returns for his first professional bout in San Antonio since he scored a 2015 knockout over Manuel Vides at AT&T Center in 2015. The 22-year-old has won three straight fights by stoppage since moving up to the 140-pound division last year.

“I hope that Barrios isn’t underestimating me, because I am full of confidence and positive that I’m going to win,” said Bernardo. “I have a great plan that I’m going to use to catch him by surprise. I don’t care if it’s by knockout or decision, I will win.”
Luna (22-0, 15 ਕੋਸ) and Commey (25-2, 22 ਕੋਸ) enter this fight ranked 11th ਅਤੇ 3Rd respectively by the IBF. The 26-year-old Luna, fighting out of Bellflower, Ca., most recently dominated Andrey Klimov on his way to a unanimous decision last April and faces his toughest competition to date on March 10. Commey rebounded from the narrow defeat to Easter and a subsequent close loss to Denis Shafikov with a unanimous decision victory last March in his native Ghana.
“Commey’s a tough competitor whose losses were very close, disputable fights that could have gone either way, so I’ll go in being smart, using my jab and sticking to our game plan,” said Luna. “We’re both boxer-punchers who like to mix it up, throw bombs and brawl if we have to. There’s going to be a lot of action and we might steal the show. We’ll give the fans their money’s worth, either way.”
“I think this is a good fight where neither of us are the favorite,” said Commey. “After losing two close decisions there is natural pressure to go for the knockout. But I believe that the judges will be fair and reward me if it goes the distance so I can earn another shot at the title. This is my first fight with Andre Rozier and I’m inspired working in his gym with guys like Daniel Jacobs and Sadam Ali. ਮੈਨੂੰ ਰਿਹਾ 100 percent focused on clearly beating Luna and earning my rematch with Robert Easter Jr.”

Born in Namibia and now fighting out of Omaha, NE, Indongo (22-1, 11 ਕੋਸ) is a former unified champion who held the IBF and WBA 140-pound titles.

It was the first championship bout with all four major world titles at stake since Jermain Taylor dethroned Bernard Hopkins in 2005. Indongo lost to Crawford, suffering the only defeat of his professional career.

The hotly contested first match between Dirrell and Uzcategui, which was also for the IBF interim world title, ended in controversy after Uzcategui was disqualified for landing a punch after the bell sounded to end the eighth round. Dirrell was dropped and knocked out by the punch. The referee ruled that the punch was intentional and disqualified Uzcategui. In the IBF mandated rematch, Dirrell and Uzcategui will look to put themselves in position to fight for the super middleweight title that Caleb Truax recently earned via a majority decision over James DeGale.
Dirrell (26-2, 16 ਕੋਸ), a bronze medal winner for the 2004 U.S. Olympic boxing team, continues his quest for a world championship. The 34-year-old southpaw from Flint, Michigan lost a split decision to Carl Froch in his first attempt in 2009 and dropped a narrow unanimous decision to DeGale in his next attempt in 2015.

GH3 Promotions signs Heavyweight prospect Ronald Hines

The 6’6″ Hines, began boxing at at the age of nine, as he was already involved in Karate, his dad took him to the boxing gym where he met his eventual trainer Push Davis.
Hines had an amateur career that saw him go 67-7, and he won the National Silver Gloves and the National Junior Olympics.
“I feel great signing with GH3 Promotions, they are a promotional outfit that can open doors for me,” said Hines. “I met Vito Mielnicki and GH3 is more of a family atmosphere, and I like that.”
“I am fortunate to have Ray Edwards on my team. He has been there and done that in football. He has been through all situations, and he can help mentor me through whatever comes my way.”
Hines ran into some trouble as he was preparing for the U.S. National Tournament, and he will be returning to the ring after a brief absence.
“That was a minor setback for a major comeback. I have learned not to let petty things get in the way. I am extremely focused, and I am where I need to be.”

In the 1950’s, Woburn lightweight “ਆਇਰਿਸ਼” Tommy Collins (61-12, 44 ਕੋਸ) was dropped 10 times at the Boston Garden by world champion Jimmy Carter, until he finally succumbed in the fourth round. His gutsy performance, ਪਰ, earned him an appearance on the popular Ed Sullivan Show.
Arlington heavyweight ਟਾਮ McNeeley (37-14, 28 ਕੋਸ), unsuccessfully fought for the world title in 1961, stopped in the fourth round of his Toronto fight versus defending champion Floyd ਪੀਟਰਸਨ, and McNeeley’s son, Boston-native and later Medfield resident ਪਤਰਸ ਨੂੰ “Hurricane” McNeeley (47-7, 30 ਕੋਸ) famously was stopped in the opening round by “ਆਇਰਨ” Mike ਟਾਯਸਾਨ in the latter’s first fight after his release from prison.
In the 1980’s, Irish boxers made their way to Boston to fight; some returned home after their careers, others relocated in the area. ਵਿੱਚ 1984, Ireland-native Sean Mannion (42-14, 13 ਕੋਸ), who had moved to the Dorchester section of Boston, lost a 15-round decision in Madison Square Garden to Mike ਮਾਈਕਲਮੈੱਕੱਲੂਮ for the World Boxing Association (WBA) Super Middleweight World Championship.

Arguably the most famous and popular Irish-American boxer, outside of Sullivan and ਜੈਕ Dempsey, is Lowell junior welterweight “ਆਇਰਿਸ਼” Micky ਵਾਰਡ (38-13, 27 ਕੋਸ), who was involved in three Fight of the Year award winners, two from his epic trilogy with ਆਰਟੂਰੋ Gatti, and the first boxer with more than 10 career losses to earn a $1-million purse. Ward’s life was portrayed by another Boston icon, actor Mark Wahlberg, in the award-winning movie, “The Fighter.”
Irish boxers are still coming to Boston to fight. Locally-based Murphys Boxing has promoted numerous shows in Boston featuring world-class boxers such as ਗੈਰੀ “ਸਮਾਈਕ” O'Sullivan and undefeated super bantamweight TJ “ਪਾਵਰ” Doheny (18-0, 13 ਕੋਸ), as well as undefeated rising stars such as “Sting” Ray Mayotte and New England & Massachusetts heavyweight champion Niall Kennedy (10-0, 6 ਕੋਸ).
The Irish team will announce its boxers later this month after the conclusion of its National Championships.
