Indongo replaces the previously announced Viktor Postol, who was forced to withdraw from the bout with a hand injury.

Born in Namibia and now fighting out of Omaha, NE, אינדונגו (22-1, 11 קוס) is a former unified champion who held the IBF and WBA 140-pound titles.

ב 2016, Indongo traveled to Moscow, רוסיה, to dethrone IBF Junior Welterweight Champion Eduard Troyanovsky with a stunning first-round knockout. In his first defense as champion, Indongo traveled to Glasgow, סקוטלנד, for a unification bout with WBA Champion Ricky Burns. The 35-year-old won a 12-round unanimous decision to become unified champion.

In his first bout as a unified titleholder, Indongo made his U.S. debut against fellow undefeated and unified champion Terence Crawford in a showdown to determine the undisputed champion of the 140-pound division. It was the first championship bout with all four major world titles at stake since Jermain Taylor dethroned Bernard Hopkins in 2005. Indongo lost to Crawford, suffering the only defeat of his professional career.

The hotly contested first match between Dirrell and Uzcategui, which was also for the IBF interim world title, ended in controversy after Uzcategui was disqualified for landing a punch after the bell sounded to end the eighth round. Dirrell was dropped and knocked out by the punch. The referee ruled that the punch was intentional and disqualified Uzcategui. In the IBF mandated rematch, Dirrell and Uzcategui will look to put themselves in position to fight for the super middleweight title that Caleb Truax recently earned via a majority decision over James DeGale.

GH3 Promotions signs Heavyweight prospect Ronald Hines

Hines, 22 קליבלנד, Ohio is managed by former NFL Defensive End, Ray Edwards.
The 6’6″ Hines, began boxing at at the age of nine, as he was already involved in Karate, his dad took him to the boxing gym where he met his eventual trainer Push Davis.
Hines had an amateur career that saw him go 67-7, and he won the National Silver Gloves and the National Junior Olympics.
“I feel great signing with GH3 Promotions, they are a promotional outfit that can open doors for me,” said Hines. “I met Vito Mielnicki and GH3 is more of a family atmosphere, and I like that.”
“I am fortunate to have Ray Edwards on my team. He has been there and done that in football. He has been through all situations, and he can help mentor me through whatever comes my way.”
Hines ran into some trouble as he was preparing for the U.S. National Tournament, and he will be returning to the ring after a brief absence.
“That was a minor setback for a major comeback. I have learned not to let petty things get in the way. I am extremely focused, and I am where I need to be.”

Many Irish and Irish-American boxers have fought in the Greater Boston area, some born and others resettling there. The tradition started back in the 19ה century with “The Boston Strongboy,” ג'ון. In the 1950’s, Woburn lightweight “אירי” Tommy Collins (61-12, 44 קוס) was dropped 10 times at the Boston Garden by world champion ג'ימי קרטר, until he finally succumbed in the fourth round. His gutsy performance, עם זאת, earned him an appearance on the popular Ed Sullivan Show.
Arlington heavyweight טום מקנילי (37-14, 28 קוס), unsuccessfully fought for the world title in 1961, stopped in the fourth round of his Toronto fight versus defending champion פלויד פטרסון, and McNeeley’s son, Boston-native and later Medfield resident פיטר “הוריקן” McNeeley (47-7, 30 קוס) famously was stopped in the opening round by “ברזל” מייק טייסון in the latter’s first fight after his release from prison.

Collins’ younger brother, Packie Collins, also moved to Brockton to fight. He later worked with Irish heavyweight champion קווין “The Clones Colossus” McBride (35-10-1, 29 קוס), who went on to knock Tyson out and into retirement. McBride, who still lives in Dorchester, was a stablemate of former Team Ireland head coach and current Team USA head coach, בילי וולש, at the European Games. Another Ireland Olympian, Wayne “Pocket Rocket” McCullough (27-7, 18 קוס), moved to Las Vegas from Northern Ireland. Ward’s life was portrayed by another Boston icon, actor Mark Wahlberg, in the award-winning movie, “The Fighter.”
Irish boxers are still coming to Boston to fight. Locally-based Murphys Boxing has promoted numerous shows in Boston featuring world-class boxers such as גארי “ספייק” אוסליבן and undefeated super bantamweight TJ “כוח” דוחני (18-0, 13 קוס), as well as undefeated rising stars such as “לַעֲקוֹץ” Ray Mayotte and New England & Massachusetts heavyweight champion ניאל קנדי (10-0, 6 קוס).
The Irish team will announce its boxers later this month after the conclusion of its National Championships.
