World Ranked Welterweight Taras Shelestyuk Ready for the Elite of the Division

PHILADELPHIA, PENN./ORANGE, Calif. (Marzo. 1, 2018)- Undefeated and world ranked welterweight contender Taras Shelestyuk is ready to go big game hunting in 2018.
Il 2012 Olympic Bronze medal winner from Sumy, Ucraina, who now fights out of Los Angeles, California, has won the major regional titles, and he feels he has been overlooked by the perceived elite of the 147 pound divisione.
Shelestyuk, 16-0 con 10 ko, continues to work on his craft while he waits for a major fight to materialize.
“I want to fight Keith Thurman, Danny Garcia, Shawn Porter, Errol Spence or the winner of the Jeff Horn – Terence Crawford fight,” Detto Shelestyuk.
“I know that I have the skills and pedigree to beat those guys. I just need my opportunity, and I know that will be coming soon. I have been working hard in the gym, and I sparred with Viktor Ortiz for his bout with Devon Alexander, as well as WBA Super Welterweight Champion Brian Castano.”
Shelestyuk also has been helping with the career of his wife Alina. Alina is a runway model, who has done numerous photo shoots in Los Angeles.

USA Boxing Metro Announces Opening Night for “The New York Metro Qualifiers: The Road to the Garden” at Yonkers PAL

NEW YORK, NY – Marzo 1, 2018 – USA Boxing, Metro (“Metro”) opens the 2018 New York Metro Qualifiers on March 1st at Yonkers PAL, situato in 127 North Broadway in Yonkers. Porte si apriranno alle 6 PM. Boxing fans will not only experience some of the best amateur boxing in the world, they will also have the opportunity to mix and mingle with boxing stars and boxing world notables. Proceeds will help send Qualifiers champions to the National Golden Gloves in Omaha, Nebraska in May.
“We are excited to start our tournament at one of Metro’s member gyms that produced boxers such as Golden Gloves champ Sean Daughtry and Golden Gloves and professional champion Douglas Gray,” said USA Boxing, Metro’s Interim President, and world champion boxer, Sonya Lamonakis. “The site of many exciting boxing shows, fans feel like they’re in the ring with the boxers, competing for the coveted championships of each weight class. It’s an experience any sports fan should not miss.”

USA BOXING, METROPOLITAN ASSOCIATION, INC. is the Local Boxing Committee (LBC) comprising New York City, Long Island, and up to and including Duchess, Sullivan, and Ulster Counties. Silva sharp for Saturday showdown with Casarez; targets the best at 135

Plant City, FL (Marzo 1, 2018) – Many in the boxing world best remember Brazilian lightweight William Silva for his gutsy 2016 performance against Felix Verdejo. In the HBO televised bout, Silva showed tremendous heart and toughness but was outpointed over ten rounds in front of a sold out pro-Verdejo crowd.
“I didn’t have the right team or training camp at the time,", Ha detto Silva, who entered the Verdejo bout 23-0.
Since relocating to Florida from Arizona, Silva linked up with Jose Rodriguez at the Plant City Boxing Gym and inked a promotional agreement with Tampa-based Fire Fist Boxing Promotions. Nel mese di novembre 2017, he returned to the ring after a year and a half layoff to outpoint Ariel Vasquez. Finora, everything has paid off and Silva’s currently in top form.
“He’s been training at a fantastic pace, Ha detto Rodriguez. “His balance and power are extraordinary – he’s ready to fight!"
Su Sabato, Marzo 3, Silva faces tough Rogelio Casarez in the 10 round main event of a Fire Fist Boxing card at Banquet Masters in Clearwater, FL. Silva-Casarez is for the NBA World and IBO Continental lightweight championships. Casarez, who has a deceiving 13-6 record, faced excellent opposition including Jamel Herring and multi-division title contender Cesar Seda, who he took the distance last August.
“I don’t know much about him besides that he’s a tough lefty that comes at you,” Silva said of his opponent.
Even with limited information about the man he’ll swap punches with Saturday evening, Silva’s confident he’ll defeat his Arkansas-based foe before setting his sights on the 135 pound division’s elite.
"(With a victory) I hope to get ranked and fight the top fighters at 135. This is my time to make it happen because I’ve got the right people behind me that believe in my career.”
The card starts at 7 pm and also features 7 other bouts including local standouts Nicholas Iannuzzi, Antonio Tarver Jr., Joseph Fernandez, Ricky Tomlinson and Ozodek Aripov.

Atlantic City, New Jersey (Marzo 1, 2018)–Heavyweight Chazz “Il Gentiluomo” Witherspoon assumerà veterano Mike Sheppard in in the eight-round main event on Sabato, March 10th a The Claridge Hotel in Atlantic City.

The bout will headline a nine bout card dubbed “Ring Redemption” is promoted by Mis Downing Promotions in association with Silver Spoon Promotions.

Sheppard is coming off a loss to undefeated Simon Kean on December 16, 2017 in Laval, Quebec, Canada.

Seeing action in the eight-round co-feature will be welterweight Anthony “Succo” Young of Atlantic City, NJ taking on Fidel Monterrosa Munoz.

Il 18enne Moreu, chi ha intenzione di frequentare il community college l'anno prossimo, è un 2016 Campione nazionale di boxe USA, oltre a quattro volte nativi americani e 2014 Campione di Gene Lewis. Era una medaglia d'argento al 2015 Junior/Youth Open e 2014/2015 Campionati olimpici junior.

Boxe, suo padre/allenatore, Yoruba Moreu, alla fine degli anni Johnny Tapia l'ha aiutata a superare la tragedia che ha cambiato la vita della morte di sua madre in un incidente automobilistico, forgiare un nuovo percorso per lei come modello e 2020 speranza olimpica. “Avevo solo otto anni quando mia madre è morta,” Moreu ricordava. “Ero sdraiato su di lei quando l'auto è rotolata e lei è stata lanciata attraverso il finestrino posteriore. Moreu ha iniziato a fare boxe all'età di 12 e Tapia, il cinque volte, campione del mondo di tre divisioni, in aggiunta a 1983 e 1985 Gloves Nazionale campione d'Oro, ha avuto un enorme impatto su Sharahya-Taina che rimarrà nel suo cuore e nella sua anima per tutta la vita.
“Siamo diventati come una famiglia,” Moreu ha detto. “All'inizio, non gli piaceva il pugilato delle ragazze, quindi mi ha fatto lavorare davvero duramente. Ero un buon giocatore di basket e continuava a dirmi di andare a giocare a basket. Ma è diventato una persona importante nella mia vita, Penso che, perché avevo perso mia madre in così giovane età. Mi ha aiutato dentro e fuori dal ring in tanti modi. Johnny Tapia era il più simpatico, l'uomo più umile che abbia mai incontrato. Style-saggio, Sharahya-Taina depreda i suoi avversari’ errori, regolazione nell'anello come, lei dice, “Proprio come nella vita.” Alle 5′ 10″, Moreu ha un'altezza netta e un vantaggio sulla maggior parte dei suoi avversari di peso medio, usando quegli attributi, la sua velocità e il duro colpo per accumulare punti senza sosta.

È facile qui. Albuquerque non è come una grande città ma sta diventando una città di lotta.

“Mi piace viaggiare e conoscere persone diverse. L'anno scorso, Ho rappresentato negli Stati Uniti in India ai Campionati Giovanili, e ho visto un'altra parte del mondo, come le persone si sono formate e hanno avuto stili di vita diversi. sto girando 19 a maggio, quindi questa è la mia prima volta nel pugilato in un torneo Elite, ed è fantastico farlo nella mia città natale.

Moreu attribuisce anche a suo padre gran parte del suo successo sul ring e nella vita. “È stato un genitore single, ma è sempre stato lì a fare del suo meglio per me come padre e allenatore,” Sharahya-Taina ha notato. “La maggior parte delle persone non sa che è portoricano, mia madre una nativa americana (pueblo).”

Come la maggior parte dei giovani, atleti d'élite, Sharahya-Taina ha un sogno. “2020 alle Olimpiadi,” ha concluso. “Voglio affermarmi come dilettante e alla fine diventare professionista e avere una buona carriera.”

Dean Fay, the Central City Boxing and Barbell Gym Founder & Direttore, has helped develop the Western New England Golden Gloves franchise into the preeminent power in the six-state region, capturing numerous individual All-New England titles and five consecutive team championships.

Fay is a Springfield police officer who started his program 10 anni fa, last year moving into Central City Boxing and Barbell Gym, primarily to keep kids off the street, teaching them values to become productive citizens.
“Our program, primo, is youth development and second, boxe,” Fay explained. “We use boxing as a vehicle for valuable teaching lessons, embodying the same values of boxing: competition, cohesiveness and integrity. Springfield has had a long history in boxing. The Golden Gloves were held in Holyoke, one city over from Springfield, per 50 years before coming here. Golden Gloves has funded a lot of small gyms because many of these kids can’t afford fees. We’ve bridged the gap by hosting shows that raises money and creates fanbases.
“Nel corso degli anni, Marvin Hagler, Marlon Starling, Micky Ward, John Scully and so many others have come through USA Boxing programs in New England. Boxing represents life; how to conduct themselves in and out of the ring. Boxing is a small fraternity and boxers walk up those steps and through the ropes, in front of everybody, and confront their fears. Boxing is determined by judges and, nella vita, you are judged by how you live by laws. Life values are taught through boxing.
“Hosting the USA-Boxing Northeast Boxing Tour gives kids in our program an opportunity to watch up close the top boxers who are representing their country. My kids realize that they could do that someday. They see the best boxers in the country and that’s where they want to be.”

“I was fortunate to be part of USA Boxing,” Rivera ha detto. “Gaining experience in amateur boxing helped mold me as a person and give me confidence to pursue my dream of becoming world champion as a professional. I started boxing in Springfield when I was 15, before moving to Worcester (MA), becoming part of Carlo Garcia‘s growing stable of national and regional champions.”
The three-city boxing tour kicks off at Boston’s Royale Entertainment Complex on Marzo 12 and closes Mare. 21 at the Manchester Downtown Hotel in Manchester, N.H. A full roster for both teams will soon be released.
