The Panamanian De Gracia (24-1-1, 20 KOs) will be fighting for the first time in the United States on March 2. The 25-year-old has knocked out seven of his last eight opponents and scored four straight stoppage victories since his one loss to Jorge Sanchez in 2017. “I’m not convinced [Chris will win] because James DeGale has pedigree. Being an [olympique] Gold Medalist and former world champion is real. I respect the man’s abilities. Junior hasn’t.

“My son looks at the physical aspect of boxing and, from a physical point of view, I don’t think there is anyone who can stand with him. But boxing isn’t just physical – it’s also spiritual, and that’s where Junior lacks. I don’t know whether he has that.

“This is a 50/50 fight and for the first time I am petrified of what the outcome can be. I am petrified that Junior may not win this fight.

“This is the wisdom of someone who has been here. You never underestimate your opponent based on past performances. Anyone who thinks this guy is on a slide because of past performances is making a mistake.

“From a physical aspect, Junior has the upper hand. From a spiritual aspect and pedigree aspect, James has the upper hand, and that’s why this is a 50/50 lutte.

“I do know Chris has learned and let’s see what is produced. It can be a brilliant fight.”

**Paulie Malignaggi:**

“I like our chances. I know the guy that I have been in camp with. The things I’ve seen, I like. They are much more positive this time around.

“You can’t underestimate a guy like Eubank. He always comes to win. Mais, regardless of the gameplan, there is a certain mentality and my guy has it. He’s a Gold Medalist and he knows what mentality to bring on Saturday.

Lara is continuing to to work with longtime trainer Ronnie Shields in Houston, where Lara has prepared for his matchup with sparring that includes going up against top prospects in 18-year-old Joey Spencer and 24-year-old Eimantas Stanionis.

“Ronnie and I are working great together, and we have an excellent game plan in place.,” a déclaré Lara. “This is one of the better camps I’ve had the last few years. Having young fighters like Spencer and Stanionis in camp with me is refreshing because I know they are hungry. With famed trainer Sugarhill Stewart shouting instructions from his corner, the Detroit-based power-punching Ergashev (16-0, 14 KOs), by way of Fergana, Ouzbékistan, did enough to beat the rangy 6-foot-4 Fox (19-1, 5 KOs) in a matchup of two exciting undefeated prospects. “Je suis tellement excité de revenir fort dans 2019. C'est l'année qui pourrait me mettre au dessus et me mettre au plus haut niveau.

“Le changement d'adversaire ne m'a pas vraiment affecté. Chez les amateurs, on se battait quatre ou cinq fois par semaine donc on avait toujours des adversaires différents. J'avais sparring quelqu'un de plus grand que moi dans le camp d'entraînement de toute façon. Je pense qu'un combattant devrait être prêt et capable de s'adapter à tout ce qui se trouve devant lui dans le ring. Je suis prêt et j'espère que Ruiz l'est aussi.

“Le camp d'entraînement a été formidable. Je suis prêt pour samedi soir. Nous avions prévu de combattre Abner Mares, mais il a eu une blessure et nous espérons le faire descendre si tout va bien pour sa santé.

“Hugo Ruiz est un grand adversaire. Il va venir se battre samedi soir. Il a dit aux médias qu'il allait me mettre KO, donc j'espère que nous aurons un combat plein d'action pour les fans. Je suis content que Ruiz vienne pour le KO. Nous le devons aux fans et je prie pour qu'il vienne prêt à leur donner un super show.

“J'ai l'impression d'être le combattant qui peut être la prochaine grande star. J'y travaille. Je suis juste un enfant qui s'imprègne de tout ça maintenant. samedi soir, J'espère que tout le monde est prêt, parce que ça va être de l'action.

“Le record de Ruiz parle de lui-même. Je l'ai regardé et il a du pop. Il est précis et je suis prêt pour ça. Je ne pense pas avoir de rouille. J'ai travaillé avec beaucoup de grands combattants dans le gymnase. J’ai juste hâte de revenir sur le ring.

“Je suis très heureux d'avoir cette opportunité. Je vais tout laisser dans le ring. J'ai beaucoup confiance en mes compétences en boxe. J'ai confiance et je crois qu'il y aura un nouveau champion du monde samedi soir.

“Je suis en rythme et en forme. Je suis très actif depuis et depuis mon dernier combat. Davis est un formidable champion, mais il ne me intimide pas. Je serai prêt pour lui le samedi soir.

“C'est une excellente occasion de combattre un gaucher, comme je m'étais initialement entraîné pour un gaucher avant que mon adversaire ne change dans mon dernier combat. J'ai aussi combattu un gaucher en novembre. Je m'entraîne avec beaucoup de gauchers depuis un moment. Je suis plus que prêt pour cette opportunité.

“Davis est un champion solide et je sais que c'est une grande opportunité pour moi de combattre quelqu'un de son calibre. Je suis prêt mentalement et physiquement à la plus grande opportunité qui m’ait été donnée.

“À 130 livres, je ressens plus de puissance que jamais et je démontrerai que samedi soir. C'est un gros défi pour moi. C’est l’occasion que j’attendais tout au long de ma carrière de 12 ans. Je ne compte pas le gaspiller.”

“C’est une énorme opportunité et je suis très excité pour ça. J'ai hâte d'aller là-bas et de faire un grand spectacle pour les fans de boxe.

“Je vais donner le meilleur que j'ai dans le ring. Je vais contre un bon boxeur avec un bon dossier, mais peu importe quels obstacles sont devant moi. Je vais remporter une grosse victoire samedi soir.

“Nous avons une nouvelle équipe et un nouvel entraîneur qui va donner aux fans le meilleur Javier Fortuna possible samedi.

“Une victoire contre Sharif Bogere est très importante pour moi et un tremplin vers l'endroit où je veux arriver. Ça va être un combat difficile, mais je suis prêt à faire de cette soirée une soirée très difficile pour lui.”

**SHARIF BOGERE**

“Nous allons en faire un grand combat samedi. Fortuna est un bon combattant et un dur à cuire. Je m'attends à ce qu'il apporte beaucoup de feux d'artifice. Je suis prêt pour ça et j'ai le plan de match pour gagner.

“Chaque jour est un test difficile dans la vie. Ça va être juste un autre combat. Je suis prêt et j'ai une grande équipe derrière moi. Je viens samedi soir pour ce qui m'appartient.

“Fortuna a un grand nom et est une étape pour moi. Cette victoire me mettra là-haut vers le sommet et je serai prêt à relever le défi qui suivra.”

C'est un super match et le genre que les gens veulent voir. Il s’agit de présenter de superbes émissions et samedi sera un autre blockbuster.”

Castaño is trained by his former pro boxer father Carlos in the bustling city of Isidro Casanova in Buenos Aires, Argentine. After a long and successful amateur career leading into his pro debut in 2012, Castaño has a chance on March 2 to make a lasting impact with an impressive performance against Lara.

“I’ve been boxing since I was a small child and now this is my opportunity to prove myself on the biggest stage,” said Castaño. “This fight is the moment I’ve been waiting for and the kind of tough challenge that I love. I want to make a statement to the American audience against one of the best fighters in the world.”

In recent years, Argentine fighters such as Marcos Maidana, Jesus Cuellar and Lucas Matthysse have become champions and stars in the U.S. with their relentless styles they bring into the ring fight after fight. Castaño specifically has spoken to another Argentine great in Sergio Martinez for inspiration as he continues his journey.

“I have a great admiration for the Argentine champions that have made statements and become big names in the U.S. in recent years and I know how difficult that is to achieve,” said Castaño. “I’ve sat and had great conversations with Sergio Martinez not long ago and I was able to learn a lot from a fighter like that.”

The 29-year-old first won an interim title with a knockout of Emmanuel de Jesus in 2016, before winning tough 12-round battles against Michel Soro, and most recently a final round stoppage win over Cedric Vitu to capture the belt he will defend on March 2. These were the first two times Castaño fought into the 12^e round as a pro.

“I learn new things each time I fight,” said Castaño. “When you are a world champion, there are no easy foes. The opponents come stronger and stronger each time. I’ve learned that I have to double my effort every time I get into the ring.”

In Lara, Castaño faces a challenging former amateur world champion who was the longest-reigning titleholder in the 154-pound division before he lost to fellow champion Jarrett Hurd last April on SHOWTIME in 2018’s Fight of the Year. Castaño is aware of what Lara brings to the fight and is preparing to negate it.

“On paper we know that Lara is a slick fighter that can be difficult to catch, while I’m more like a demolisher that goes after you all fight,” said Castaño. “Lara moves around the ring very wisely and has great timing on the counterpunch. Dans le ring, you never know how it can play out though. I probably haven’t faced someone like him before, so I have to cut off the ring in an even smarter manner.”

On March 2, Castaño will be looking to take his career to the next level with his performance, knowing that chances at the highest level are hard to come by.

“I’ve taken my career quietly to this point, but I know that I have to make myself known by putting up a great performance in this tough fight,” said Castaño. “I’m prepared to do just that.
