Below is what the fighters had to say today:
ADRIEN BRONER
I told you I wouldn’t do any interviews or talk. Nothing has changed. I just want to thank everyone for coming. I will be victorious Rau hnub Saturday hmo ntuj, October 3.”
KHABIB ALLAKHVERDIEV
I don’t talk too much. I am ready to fight Hnub vas xaum.
He [Broner] is nervous. That’s why he’s acting like a clown.
This is his hometown. It’s his last chance for a world title and he shows up late and makes it look like he’s joking around with everybody and doesn’t care. I’ve seen fighters do this before and it’s because he is scared.
He knows what will happen Rau hnub Saturday. He can clown around all he wants, but that won’t help him when we are in the ring.
I feel great seeing him nervous. For me, this is just another fight and just another win and that’s what it will be. A win for me over this nervous clown. I am going to beat him in front of all his friends.
JOSE PEDRAZA, IBF Junior Lightweight World Champion
Everyone says they’re going to come knock me out, good luck to him. It’s not happening.
He has a lot of experience as a professional, but I have been fighting for a long time as well so I’m not worried about who he’s faced.
I’m ready for 12 rounds but I want to get him out of there sooner. I’m going to work the body hard to try to get that done.
I want to face the best. I’d prefer not to face another Puerto Rican but if it’s the best fight out there, I will face anybody.
I have no prediction for the fight. I have a good strategy for the fight and if it works, I will win by knockout.
EDNER CHERRY
I want to thank the fans. Everyone that has supported me. Tune in Hnub vas xaum hmo ntuj. It will be a great show.
ROBERT EASTER JR.
I’m coming out to put on a great show. You know I don’t like to be in the ring too long so you will see a knockout.
I don’t watch a lot of tape or anything like that. I just work hard in the gym and do the best I can.
JUAN SOLIS
My technical abilities are my best qualities in the ring. This is my work and I fight with honor.
Argentinean boxers are known for giving everything in their fights. I am going to do everything to win Hnub vas xaum night.
JAMEL HERRING
I am honored to be here. Everyone that knows me knows that I come out and I give it my all.
Expect to see a great fight. Much respect to my opponent for taking this fight, but that’s where it stops. Once we get in the ring its all about business.
YAKUBU AMIDU
I have fought some great fighters. I have experience in the boxing game. I am here to give Jamel Herring a good fight. I want you to come and watch a good fight.
I’m from Ghana. I live in Los Angeles. I have been living there for six years. I started boxing as a pro in Ghana. I went to South Africa. Then I went to England and then I came here. I have a huge advantage in experience.
MIKE STAFFORD, Adrien Broner’s Trainer
Adrien is at his weight class this time. We have been fighting at 146 thiab 147, he’s had the title at 147, but now he is back at his weight. He is mean and lean.
Adrien knows how important this is. He knows Khabib is a great former champion. We thank you for coming to our city. Not too many people would come into this situation.
We thank our families and friends and without these guys wouldn’t be up here. These are a great bunch of guys. I am like a stand-in father to all of them and I appreciate you supporting them.
LEON MARGULES, President of Warriors Boxing
Everyone knows who Adrien Broner is. Adrien has a promotional company called About Billions Promotions and they have been fun, interesting and I hope we get to work together again.
Not only do we have a great international card, but we have several fighters, up-and-comers from this area.
When you look at this card, you have one of the more explosive fights boxing fans will see this year. Reigning IBF Junior Lightweight Champion Jose Pedraza and former title challenger that is fighting at the weight class that he wantsEdner Cherry.
Cincinnati is a great city. It is also a world class sports town. Bengals, Reds, University of Cincinnati, Xavier University and the Cyclones that play in this building. They also have Adrien Broner.
He is the most talented and naturally gifted fighter in the world today. I believe he can be the next superstar in our sport. He is 26-years-old. His finesse speed and power is unlike any I have seen in a long time. I am proud to be his partner and work with him on this fight.
RAVONE LITTLEJOHN, President of About Billions Promotions
Thanks Adrien for showing up. He has brought some great things into this camp.
Thank Adrien Broner for giving me an opportunity to promote this fight. We are ready to go. Tickets are still available. See you Hnub vas xaum night.
VLAD HRUNOV, World of Boxing
Thank you very much. Why do we still not sell out? If we are in your hometown. Welcome to the best fight of this city in boxing history.
JAVIER BUSTILLO, President of Universal Promotions
It is a pleasure and honor to be working with Leon Margules. I have been working in boxing for 20 years and I have never seen anyone like Jose Pedraza. We know we are fighting Edner Cherrya good boxer.
We call Jose the ‘Sniper. You are going to see a sniper Hnub vas xaum hmo ntuj. He won’t miss a punch.

CINCINNATI, Ohio(Sept. 30, 2015) – Adrien Broner (30-2, 22 KOs) thiab Khabib Allakhverdiev(19-1, 9 KOs) held a media workout at The Punch House in Cincinnati on Wednesday as they prepare for this Saturday’s WBA Super Lightweight World Championship, live on SHOWTIME (10 p.m. LI/7 p.m. PT) from U.S. Bank Arena.
In the SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING co-feature, undefeated IBF Junior Lightweight World Champion Jose Pedraza (20-0, 12 KOs) will defend his title against former world title challengerEdner Cherry (24-6-2, 19 KOs).
SHOWTIME EXTREME fighters and undefeated prospects Robert Easter Jr. thiab Jamel Herringalso participated in Wednesday’s workout. Easter Jr. (15-0, 12 KOs) yuav siv tau Juan Ramon Solis(20-9, 9 KOs) while Herring (13-0, 8 KOs) will face Yakubu Amido (19-7-2, 17 KOs) in separate 10-round lightweight bouts hnub Saturday no. NOTE: Solis is a late replacement for the previously announced Miguel Acosta as an opponent for Easter Jr.
While Broner continued his vow of silence with the media, the three-division world championlet his fists do the talkingin a spirited workout that lasted nearly 90 minutes.
Here’s what the rest of the SHOWTIME fighters had to say on Wednesday:
KHABIB ALLAKHVERDIEV:
I expect Broner to try to play his game, but we will play our game.
The experience I gained after losing the title in my last fight [against Jesse Vargas] is that I really understand the opportunity that I am being given going into this fight.
I am not worried about fighting in Broner’s hometown. I have fought many fighters in their own cities and it doesn’t bother me.
Rau hnub Saturday hmo ntuj, I will show the fans a great fight and come out with the victory.
JOSE PEDRAZA:
We train hard all the time, we are in great shape and we prepare for every fight like the opponent is the champion.
Edner Cherry is a very experienced fighter. He is a strong guy and good puncher.
I am in great shape and I’m ready to fight 12 muab suav.
This could very well be the toughest fight of my career. He hasn’t lost in seven years. But we are very prepared, studied the fight well and are ready to go come Hnub vas xaum.
My youth will play a huge part in this fight. I’m much younger than him and, without a doubt, I will win this fight.
I can’t wait for the fans to watch this fight and if they can’t be here than I hope they watch on SHOWTIME. It will be a great fight.
EDNER CHERRY:
This will be a very tough fight. We’ve been training hard and had a great camp.
I’m not taking anything away from him, he’s a tough fighter. He’s a champion for a reason. But Rau hnub Saturday night I’m coming for that title, that’s my job.
We trained for 12 hard rounds, but if the knockout comes, then I will be very excited. All I’m looking for is a very hard 12-round fight.
Ever since my title loss to Timothy Bradley in 2008, I’ve pushed myself to get back into this position and to give myself the opportunity for a title shot at the right weight class. I’m finally in the right weight class for me.
Bradley was the much bigger fighter when we fought [nyob rau hauv 2008]. That was a mistake on our end. He just was the bigger guy, but I was in the ring with one of the best fighters in the world and I really learned from that fight.
I tell people that I am so glad that I didn’t win that title against Bradley because, in my mind, I would’ve been fighting at 140, but that wasn’t my weight class. I would’ve been risking my life fighting at 140. I glad I didn’t win it, but I’m also glad I hung in there and got myself back into a big fight.
I’ve been preparing for this fight for 15 xyoo, and it’s going to show Rau hnub Saturday.”
ROBERT EASTER JR.
I have a lot of people coming from Toledo to see me. They’re all excited about it.
This is my second time fighting on SHOWTIME EXTREME and I’m truly blessed. It’s a good opportunity to showcase my skills on national television.
I know nothing about my opponent, but I do that on purpose. It’s been the same thing as the rest of my 15 opponents. I didn’t study them at all. Whoever they put in front of me, that’s the test I have to overcome and so far I’ve been doing excellent and passed them all.
JAMEL HERRING:
He’s my best opponent yet. He’s a tough guy, very durable. He’s a lot more durable than my last few opponents.
I take nothing from him, but I’m motivated and looking forward to pushing myself more than anything. It’s going to be a great step up and people are going to see a lot more than they’ve seen from me in the past.
I’m in great shape. I just had a fight back at the end of August. I took literally three days off instead of a whole week and came right back, so I’ve been in shape for the past three months getting to this date.
It’s a blessing to be able to showcase my talent on the national scene instead of the local venues or being on the big cards but not getting any kind of TV exposure. Now I’m part of the big show.
I don’t take anything for granted or let it get to my head. To me it’s another fight and I take every fight seriously. It doesn’t matter who I’m in with, every fight is a stepping stone to a title, so every fight is important.

These two powerful fighters have been on a collision course for several years, dating to when Quillin was the WBO Middleweight Champion and Jacobs was working back towards contender status after sitting out over a year due to cancer.
While Quillin relinquished his belt due to the birth of his son and the death of his uncle, Jacobs continued to rise in the rankings and earned his world title with a knockout in August of 2014 over Jarrod Fletcher in Brooklyn. Each fighter has earned knockout victories in the last two months and both boxers will return to the site of their world title-winning performances when they clash at Barclays Center.
This is a can’t-miss, pick’em fight between two of the best middleweights in the world,” said Lou DiBella, President of DiBella Entertainment. “This is truly the battle of Brooklyn, with both Danny and Peter possessing the power to create fireworks in an explosive night. We expect the action in the ring and the atmosphere at Barclays Center will make for a very memorable night. For boxing fans, it doesn’t get any better than this.
This is the ultimate Brooklyn matchup,” said Brett Yormark, CEO of Barclays Center.
Miracle Man vs. Kid Chocolate is about more than a world title, it’s about Brooklyn bragging rights and glory. The borough is ready for Hlis ntuj nqeg 5.”
An inspirational figure who will fight at Barclays Center for the fifth time, Brooklyn’s Jacobs completed his road to champion when he defeated Fletcher for the middleweight title. Nyob rau hauv 2011, while pursuing a championship in the ring, cancer threatened his life and kept him on the sidelines for 19 months. When he returned, he picked up where he left off, and hasn’t lost since. The 28-year-old is coming off of a second round stoppage of former world champion Sergio Mora in August.
Quillin gets back in the ring after having knocked out Michael Zerafa earlier this month to follow up his hard-fought draw against middleweight world champion Andy Lee in April. He won a middleweight belt in 2012 with his highlight-reel, six-knockdown demolition against Hassan N’Dam in the first boxing card hosted at Barclays Center. Born in Chicago, raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan, but residing in Brooklyn, the 31-year-old went on to defend that title against strong contenders Fernando Guerrero, Gabriel Rosado and Lukas Konecny. Now, “Kid Chocolatelooks to become a world champion for the second time.

LAS VEGAS (Sept. 13, 2015) – FloydMoneyMayweather performed one last masterpiece Rau hnub Saturday live on SHOWTIME PPV® in what he insists was the final fight of his distinguished 19-year career.
Before 13,395 fans at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, Mayweather improved to 49-0 (26 KOs), matching the record of the late heavyweight champion Mob Rocky Marciano with a 12-round decision over former two-time welterweight world champion Andre Berto (30-4, 23 KOs). In total control from the outset, Mayweather was victorious by the scores of 120-108, 118-110 thiab 117-111.
Following the final bell, Mayweather dropped to his knees in reflection of his final act.
You have to know when to hang it up,” he told SHOWTIME’s Jim Gray in the ring afterward. “I’m knocking at the door; I’m close to 40 years old.
I’ve been in this sport 19 xyoo, been a world champion 18 xyoo, broke all the records. There’s nothing else to prove in the sport of boxing.
My 49-0 record is a part of boxing. Records are made to be broken. Hopefully someday we can find the next Floyd Mayweather.
Now it’s time to spend time with my family and children, make sure they get the proper education. I also want to help the fighters under the Mayweather Promotions banner.
I’m leaving the sport with all my faculties; I’m still sharp and smart. I’ve accomplished everything in this sport, there’s nothing else to accomplish.
Money doesn’t make me. I make money.
I don’t want to rank myself, but I am the best at boxing.
I want to thank all the fans that came out to support this event. For 19 years I wouldn’t be able to do it without these fans.
Andre Berto has heart, a tremendous chin. He wouldn’t lay down, it was a good fight. He was a tough competitor, but experience played a major role tonight. What can I say? I was the better man tonight. It doesn’t matter if I hurt my left or my right hand, my career is over. It’s official.
Berto was satisfied with his performance, but conceded he was not at Mayweather’s level.
Experience played a big part in this fight,” Nws hais. “I want to thank my entire team, my family and all of Haiti that is watching.
I was in shape for this fight; he was just difficult to hold on to. He’s slippery. I used a lot of speed but he’s real crafty. He was using little things to get me off my rhythm.
A guy like me has a lot of pride. I told him that every time I caught him with a good shot that I was here to stay. I put on a great performance, pushed him to the limit. But, we fell short.
In the second of two world title fights on the pay-per-view undercard, RomanRocky” Martinez (29-2-3, 17 KOs) retained his WBO Junior Lightweight title with a thrilling 12-round majority draw in a rematch against four-time world champion OrlandoSiriSalido(42-13-3, 29 KOs).
Picking up where they left off when they fought in a Fight of the Year candidate last April, won by Martinez, both fighters exchanged punches for 36 minutes of ferocious action. Each went down in the third round. At the end of a slugfest, in which more than 1,700 punches were thrown, one judge scored it for Martinez (115-113), one had Salido (115-113) in front and the other called it even (114-114).
Both Martinez and Salido thought they should have got the decision and are in favor of a third fight.
I definitely won the fight,” said Martinez, who was making the first defense in his third stint as WBO Junior Lightweight World Champion. “They counted a knockdown that wasn’t really a knockdown.
He threw a lot of punches but most of them didn’t connect, they landed on my arms. Anywhere you want that third fight between us, I will take it.
Said Salido, a two-time featherweight world champion who was the aggressor throughout and delivered more than 1,000 punches, “I did all the work and I thought I won the fight. I thought the first couple of rounds were even but then I took control of the fight afterwards.
I was definitely looking for the championship. As you all saw I threw more of the punches and I thought I won the fight.
I dedicated so much for this fight, for them to take it away from me is not fair. Definitely, I am ready for a third fight.
In another world title fight, Badou JackThe Ripper(20-1-1, 12 KOs) successfully defended his WBC Super Middleweight World title with a hard-fought, crowd-pleasing 12-round majority decision over mandatory challengerSaintGeorge Groves (21-3, 16 KOs). Jack, who dropped Groves late in the first round, triumphed by the scores of 116-111, 115-112 thiab 113-114. The hard-luck Groves, who abruptly fled the ring in disbelief after the announcement, fell to 0-3 in world title fights.
Jack was impressive in what may have been his toughest fight to date.
Groves has a lot of heart,” said Jack, who was making the initial defense of the WBC belt he took from Anthony Dirrell in April.
Body work is becoming my signature. I wasn’t effective enough because I couldn’t knock him out. I felt like after the first round I could but I just couldn’t. I didn’t go to the body enough.
I haven’t thought about my next fight yet, but there’s a lot of big fights for me. I heard Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. wants to fight me. I want to enjoy this win but I will fight anyone.
The victory was Jack’s fourth in a row since suffering the lone loss of his career on a shocking first-round knockout loss to Derek Edwards in February 2014.
Groves, whose only other losses were in back-to-back fights against then-world championCarl Froch, didn’t dispute the knockdown but had a problem with the decision.
I thought I won the fight decisively,” Nws hais. “I thought I controlled the fight with my jab and that I was in control throughout, though, it appeared closer to the judges.
It was a legit knockdown in the first round. He landed the right hand over the top, but I have good fitness and I thought I got back in control of that round. But all credit to him though scoring the knockdown in the first round.
Congrats to Badou. I hope he has a successful reign as champion. I’d love to fight him again and hopefully I will do better next time. I am going to take some time to work out what’s next. Losing a world title fight is the worst feeling in the world.
Puerto Rico’s JonathanPolvoOquendo (26-4, 16 KOs) overcame a first-round knockdown, scored a knockdown of his own and upset former two-division world championJhonny Gonzalez (58-10, 49 KOs). Oquendo won a 10-round majority decision in a good action fight that opened the pay-per-view telecast. Oquendo won the biggest bout of his career by the scores of 95-93, an out-of-line 98-90 thiab 94-94.
For Oquendo, the victory in his sixth appearance at MGM Grand Garden Arena was the 12th in his last 14 fights.
I feel very happy,” said Oquendo, who was dropped by a left hook with about one minute left in the first. “Jhonny Gonzalez is a great champion. I knew I had to throw a lot of punches and work to get inside to get the victory. I was able to implement that game plan tonight.
Gonzalez, a former two-time WBC featherweight and WBO Bantamweight World Champion, was displeased with the scoring as well as all the unintentional headbutts. He was dropped by a straight right hand at about the 2:00 mark of the second.
The judges favored him too much,” Gonzalez said. “He kept head butting me. It just didn’t go well. As soon as he knocked me down, nothing happened. I just got right back up.
In a fight Hnub vas xaum that aired duringCOUNTDOWN LIVEon SHOWTIME before the pay-per-view telecast, longtime junior middleweight contender Vanes Martirosyan (36-2-1, 21 KOs), of Glendale, Calif., scored two knockdowns en route to winning a 10-round majority decision over former IBF 154-pound champion Ishe Smith (27-8, 12 KOs) of Las Vegas, by the scores of 97-91 twice and 95-95.
I feel awesome. I worked hard and it paid off. I hadn’t seen my family in 10 weeks. I was in training in the Bay Area,” Martirosyan said. “Ishe was eating 100 jabs a round. I knew he was a Mayweather fighter and I was going into the fight already down five rounds.
I knew I had to win. My corner told me to go in and have fun, but I wanted to knock him out.
I knew as soon as I landed the first knockdown that I had to keep going. I didn’t think he would get up from the second knockdown. He had never been dropped before. He has fought a lot of great fighters and I dropped him twice.
Smith, the first native Las Vegan to capture a world title, felt the fight was much tighter.
The first knockdown wasn’t serious. He just caught me in the back of the head. The second one was legit, but I got up ready to come back at him,” Smith said.
Six points is ridiculous. I thought it was closer to 95-95 los sis 95-94. I just thought it was a lot closer than those two judges, and my corner kept telling it was real close. But we expected a tough fight out of (Martirosyan). He’s long, rangy and a good puncher, but that’s why I wanted to get inside and fight him there.
I just fought a hell of a fight against the No. 3-ranked fighter in our division. I have a lot left. I’m pushing these guys to the limit. I take nothing away from him. He’s one of the best in the world and I’m a former world champion. We gave the fans a great fight tonight and I’ll be back again soon.
Also onCOUNTDOWN LIVE,” promising unbeaten lightweight Gervonta Davis of Baltimore improved to 12-0 nrog 11 knockouts by registering a 1:34, first-round TKO overRecky Dulay (8-2, 5 KOs), of Manila, Philippines.

ROMAN MARTINEZ
I understand that Salido is a strong fighter. We know each other well. That is why we trained very hard for this fight, even harder than for our first. I look forward to gaining this victory for all of Puerto Rico.
The exposure for this fight is amazing; the entire world is going to be watching. We are so accustomed to each other and we understand that we have to put forth a tremendous performance on a card of this magnitude.
I want to continue to be a world champion for all of Puerto Rico. I’m in peak condition and I’m ready to get the win.
Salido can say whatever he wants. I know him and I was able to knock him down in the first fight. I’m confident I can go finish him.
I understand why this fight is happening. Who wouldn’t want to see us go at it again? But I thought I clearly won the first time, and I am confident I will win again Rau hnub Saturday.”
ORLANDO SALIDO
You saw what happened the last time we fought. You know this is going to be a spectacular matchup. I know Rocky very well and I know he is a smart fighter. Last time I got out of my game plan. This fight, I’m focused and looking forward to a great fight.
I’m a better fighter than he is. I know that Martinez is going to run, but I’m in great condition to seek him and get the victory.
It’s about getting on the inside for me. Martinez is an intelligent fighter and he knows how to use his reach. If I can get inside his chest and attack the body I will get the win.
It’s going to be the best fight of the night. We’re going to exchange blows and pick up where we left off. I’m treating this like it is the biggest fight of my career and I can’t wait to demonstrate my skills one more time.
BADOU JACK
I’m very excited for this fight. We had a tremendous camp. We’re ready to go. I don’t talk much. I’m all about fighting.
Groves is absolutely not in my head. I’m focused and mentally strong on my task at hand. I won my biggest fight that I’ve had up to date, he didn’t. He has had two shots at the title and has lost them both.
Groves got famous for getting knocked out by Carl Froch. He’s a good fighter, but I’m very comfortable that I’m going to beat him.
I just stay focused on what I have to do. No one is getting under my skin.
I’ve always believed in myself. Things happen in boxing. I worked hard and that’s how I got to this moment.
I’ve always been the underdog in my opinion. I like it. It motivates me. I’m going to prove my worthHnub vas xaum night.
GEORGE GROVES
It’s great to be here. I’m happy to have my shot at the title. We’re ready. I’ve been traveling to Vegas to box since I was 13-years-old. Year after year I’ve always been successful out here, always with knockouts.
British boxers have been doing well in the ring as of late, but there is no extra pressure or incentive. We’re very prepared. We know what we need to know about Jack. We wish him luck, because he’s going to need it.
It’s a huge fight for me with the title on the line. I’ve been involved with higher competition but I haven’t taken my eye off of Badou Jack. We’re looking forward to a good win Rau hnub Saturday.
Training up in Big Bear was great. The first week I realized the difference in the heat and altitude. But mostly I love being isolated. Out here it’s peace, I’m purely in camp. No other distractions.
I’m confident of winning. I’m always confident of winning. The best way to describe this fight is that Badou Jack is a good fighter, but I’m a better fighter. I’m better than him at every phase of the game.
JHONNY GONZALEZ
This is my second fight at 130 pounds and I feel much more comfortable, stronger, confident and secure than I did at 126.
It is tremendous to be on this fight card. This is going to be a terrific fight. I’ve trained hard and I’m ready to go Rau hnub Saturday. The reality is, this is the type of fight that can bring me a step closer to in another world title.
JONATHAN OQUENDO
The main key, whether I box or slug, is to fight smart. I’m very excited for this opportunity. It means a lot to me to be on a card of this magnitude. I’m excited to weigh in tag kis.
When you have Mexico vs. Puerto Rico, you get a war. I have no doubt there will be blood in the ring. Jhonny Gonzalez is very experienced and was a great champion, and I thank him for taking this fight. I look forward to getting in the ring Hnub vas xaum.”
ISHE SMITH
When I fought Cornelius Bundrage for the title, I knew I had to win. I had a lot of pressure on me. There was no doubt I had to win. It’s the same thing now. Vanes is a good fighter, but I have to win. I’ve had to bring myself up from the bottom.
All of the other promoters gave up on me, but Leonard Ellerbe and Floyd took a chance on me and I’ll always be grateful.
Vanes is a good fighter. It’s going to be a hell of a fight. I have to win. I have no choice. “
VANES MARTIROSYAN
Ishe is a good fighter. He’s been in with a lot of tough guys. I have a lot of respect for him. It’s going to be a really good fight.
It’s a blessing to be here. I had a really good camp and I’m excited that the fight is here. It’s great to be a part of a show like this.
I can’t wait for this fight. You’re all going to see ‘The NightmareRau hnub Saturday night.
