What motivates you and what kind of mentality do you have in the ring?
I usually don’t get too motivated by specific opponents. I just want to take them out. On taistelu yö, I’m going to be there ready to go.
I try to emulate the mentality of Kobe Bryant. He’s a killer. He has the strongest mentality in sports. I just want to take my opponent out.
Other fighters definitely motivate me. I idolized Muhammad Ali and he’s always meant a lot to me. I looked up to fighters like Floyd Mayweather, Mike Tyson and Meldrick Taylor. There are a lot of guys out there now motivating me. Daniel Jacobs is a fighter that I look up to and Errol Spence is a guy that can really fight. Nyt, Wilder will showcase his exceptional skills in primetime on network television as he takes on Arreola. It will be Wilder’s fourth defense and third in his home state of Alabama.
I’m always excited about coming home and being in front of my people where I’m the most comfortable,” Said Wilder. “I’ve been traveling a lot, going over to Sheffield, England to train before I was supposed to fight Alexander Povetkin in Moscow. But because of his decision to use a banned substance, the fight didn’t happen. I’m disappointed about that, but it’s not going to stop me from being an active heavyweight world champion. It has also given me the opportunity to again defend my title before my hometown fans. It’s always good to come home.
This is the longest stretch that I’ve been out of the ring and I’m anxious to get back in and continue my quest to become the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world,” continued Wilder. “This is another fight in that process. I respect Chris Arreola for getting into the ring with me, but we all know who the real champion is and I’m going to prove it. I’ve been training long and hard for a fight and now I’m going to take it out on Arreola on July 16.
I’m thankful to Deontay for this opportunity, he has provena great deal by winning the heavyweight title and by defending it three times,” Said Arreola. “I’m very excited to step into the ring with him, put on a great show, be victorious and make history by becoming the first Mexican heavyweight world champion.
We are thrilled that Deontay will be back in the ring quickly, in primetime on FOX, and at home in Alabama. Chris Arreola knows that this is his last opportunity for heavyweight glory and will likely come out throwing bombs from the opening bell. I expect an explosive, fan friendly fight for as long as it lasts,” sanoi Lou Dibella, Presidentti Dibella Viihde. “In the wake of Povetkin’s positive PED test and the cancellation of that fight, we are happy that Deontay’s next heavyweight title defense will be contested on 16 heinäkuu and on such a great platform.
Chris knows what this fight means, and having been in the position to be the first Mexican heavyweight world champion before, he’s not going to let that chance slip by him again, ” sanoi Tom Brown TGB Kampanjat.
We are excited to work with DiBella Entertainment and TGB Promotions to bring the third heavyweight boxing championship in a little over a year to the state of Alabama,” mainittu geeni Hallman, presidentti ja toimitusjohtaja Bruno Event Team. “We expect tickets for this fight to sell quickly and we encourage Alabama boxing fans to show their support for Deontay.
FOX and FOX Deportes are thrilled to be broadcasting the much anticipated heavyweight championship of the world between Deontay Wilder vs. Chris Arreola as part of our partnership with Premier Boxing Champions,” sanoi David Nathanson, Fox Sports johtaja liiketoiminta. “It’s been just over 20 years since FOX presented its last heavyweight headliner, Mike Tyson vs. Buster Mathis. We’re sure this title fight will deliver another amazing PBC show on our networks.
The heavyweight champion from Tuscaloosa is itching to get back in the ring after defending his title with stoppages of Eric Molina, Johann Duahaupas and most recently a one-punch knockout of Artur Szpilka in January. Ennen kääntämällä pro marraskuussa 2008, Wilder voitti pronssia raskaansarjan Yhdysvaltain. klo 2008 Olympiakisat. Hän on viimeinen amerikkalainen mies nyrkkeilijä mitalin olympialaisissa. LAKELAND, FL. (Kesäkuu 13, 2016) – Exciting super welterweight Joseph Elegele (16-2 11 KOs) showed his strength and power Sunnuntai yö päätapahtuma Premier Boxing Champions: Seuraava kierros on Bounce TV as he went toe-to-toe with Phil Lo Greco(27-3, 15 KOs) varten 10 hard-fought rounds from The Lakeland Center in Lakeland, FL. Both combatants left it all in the ring, exchanging punches throughout the bout with close rounds that left the audience wanting more.
Elegeleof nearby Winter Haven, FL started the bout coming forward, slightly stunning Toronto’s Lo Greco with several flurries of punches that set the tone for a hard fought back and forth battle. The action picked up in round two as Lo Greco came in on the attack early in the round, pinning Elegele against the ropes and continuing to pepper him with punches to the body and the head.
Despite being taken aback by the attack, Elegele came roaring back in the final seconds of round two and out of the corner to kick off round three. Lo Greco remained in the pocket, not afraid to continue to throw wide left hooks as the fighters traded punches back and forth.
As the fight continued, Lo Greco backed Elegele up against the ropes, smothering him with punches despite Elegele’s four-inch height advantage. But round six was completely controlled by Elegele as he threw a combination of bruising punches that very well could have sent Lo Greco to the canvas. However Lo Greco remained in the pocket. In the 10th and final round, Lo Greco tuli ulos vahva, outworking Elegele, but with less than 20 seconds to go in the bout, Elegele stunned Lo Greco with a barrage of punches up against the ropes. Judges scored the bout 97-95 ja 96-94 kahdesti, all for Elegele, the winner by unanimous decision.
The second televised bout saw two former amateur standouts Dauren Yeleussinov (5-0-1, 4 KOs) Kazakstanin, who now fights out of Brooklyn, ja Devaun Lee (7-2-1, 3 KOs) Queens, NY in an eight-round middleweight bout that ended in a split draw. Yeleussinov wasted no time in the first round as he kicked off the fight by throwing multiple left hands, one to the body and two to the head of Lee.
Lee escaped the round unscathed and despite spending the majority of the second round against the ropes, he was able to let his hands go and catch Yeleussinov with multiple shots. The 30-year-old Yeleussinov went on the attack in the sixth round, pinning Lee against the ropes, once again with a barrage of punches. Judges scored the bout at 79-73 for Yeleussinov, 78-74 Lee ja 76-76, ending the bout in a split draw.
Avaavassa televisioidaan ottelu, Australian prospect Steve Lovett (15-1, 12 KOs) battled Craig Baker (17-1, 13 KOs) in a 10-round light heavyweight showdown that ended with an explosive knockout. Baker of Baytown, TX was sent to the canvas in round four following a big left hook thrown by Lovett, but Baker was the more active fighter throughout the fight as he was up on all three of the judge’s scorecards going into the eighth and final round. With only three seconds to go in the bout, Baker sent Lovett to the canvas with a hard right hand that ended the bout.
Here is what the participants had to say about their respective performances Sunnuntai yö:
JOSEPH ELEGELE
I wasn’t surprised because he’s a tough fighter, he’s a Canadian and Canadian fighters are tough. Hän tuli taistella. Se oli hyvä taistelu.
It’s hard for anyone to find an answer for a straight left, but I was surprised he kept walking through it.
I hope this win puts me on the next level. I’m ready for the top fighters. I know there are some things I can work on, but I am ready for the top fighters.
I’m not sure what’s up with my left hand. It hurt me when I was throwing it, but I’m a warrior. I’ve been through too much in life to let a little left hand hurt me. It could be falling off and I’m still going to throw it.
PHIL LO GRECO
It was his hometown. The score could have gone either way. I hurt him in the second round. He was out and the ref could have stopped the fight. That is no excuse. I will fight anyone, missä tahansa.
I felt I was pushing the fight. I am disappointed in the decision.
It’s up to the fans if they want to see me again. People see that I will fight anywhere and anyplace. I enjoyed tonight.
DEVAUN LEE
I don’t agree with the draw, I think I won the fight. I would have been comfortable with a split decision. He worked, but I landed clean shots and I landed heavier punches. I feel like I won the fight. Hänellä on valta, but he wasn’t powerful enough to stop me.
“Seuraava, I’m ready for whatever they put in front of me. I would do it again.
CRAIG BAKER
Lovett is a strong guy and he’s a hell of a competitor. He came to work and he tested me, niin se on mitä se on, yksi.
This is awesome, yksi. This is what I sweat and kill myself in the gym for. This win means the world to me.
He never hurt me tonight. We stayed patient I do what we do. This is the biggest win of my career, but I won’t rest until I get a title.
I’ll fight whoever next. I’ll be back in the gym soon and getting ready for whoever the put in front of me next.
Fighting on a Premier Boxing Champions card is amazing. I’m grateful to get the opportunity and I hope to be back on PBC fighting again.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. Born and raised in the area, Thurman worked out at St. Pete Boxing Club along with longtime trainer Dan Birmingham as he prepared for his primetime battle against the strong and dangerous Porter.
Tässä on mitä osallistujat oli sanottavaa keskiviikko:
KEITH THURMAN
Muhammad Ali opened up the door for so many people. Michael Jordan changed the game in our era, but Ali did it so long ago. He showed people that boxing is a great sport and can be the most entertaining sport in the world.
“Minulle, it’s almost like a dream come true. It’s surreal. I remember at an early age in boxing saying, ‘I want to be the guy that brings boxing back.I’m really blessed to be where I am in my career. For all the fighters who could end up on this stage, I’m proud that I’ve been chosen.
I’ve always considered myself a knockout artist. Back to when I was a teenager knocking out grown men in headgear. Ever since then, I’ve been dropping people like a bad habit.
I love being a power-puncher. My favorite fighter of all time is Mike Tyson. One of my goals that I set when I was a kid was to have more knockouts than Mike Tyson throughout my career.
I’m ready for Shawn Porter. We’re going to box harder, box stronger and box better. I will be the better man.
Training is the fundamentals of getting one prepared. We’ve always known that Shawn Porter was going to come into this fight in tremendous shape. That’s what his training methods are all about. But the Energizer Bunny has never been hit by Keith Thurman, and I’m pretty sure I could stop it in its tracks.
“Aion tyrmäys. I’ve stated it before. My hands are itching for a knockout. I’m ‘One Time,’ koko ajan. That’s my philosophy. Every single time I step into the ring I’m looking for the knockout. We don’t get paid for overtime.
This is an opportunity to showcase our talents and our skills to the world. The winner will have an opportunity to be the head guy in the sport. I’ve always wanted to have a legacy in the sport of boxing.
I want to be the undisputed welterweight champion of the world. That’s my ultimate goal. There have only been so many in the history of boxing. I want to be a part of that history.
DAN BIRMINGHAM, Thurman’s Trainer
Keith is a guy who deserves to be on this stage. He has a lot of experience and he’s come into his own. This is the kind of thing that happens when you work hard.
Life happens. Keith was involved in the accident and so we took the necessary rest. He saw the right doctors and we’re back now. We’re ready for Shawn Porter.
We’re constantly conditioning. We’re working on attacking his style. He’s a short, come-forward brawler who’s going to try to come into Keith’s chest and make it a war. We’re making out adjustments.
Keith has to be busier, more in charge fighter. He has to work off of his jab and then his power will keep Porter at bay.

MONTREAL (Kesäkuu 4) – As the world mourns the loss of Muhammad Ali, Lauantai night’s Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) on ESPN and ESPN Deportes telecast began with aCeremonial 10-Countin memory of “Greatest” and continued to pay tribute to him throughout the telecast that was headlined by a light heavyweight bout between hard-hitting Russian Olympian Artur Beterbiev against Argentina’s Ezequiel Maderna.
The 31-year-old Beterbiev (10-0, 10 KOs), who fights out of Montreal, returned to the ring after an almost year-long layoff following shoulder surgery. Now seven months removed from the procedure, Beterbiev looked sharp from the opening bell as he threw straight right hands and body shots effectively to start the fight.
Maderna, who was also coming off of a long layoff, was hoping to make a statement in his first fight on North American soil as he moved up in weight for this bout. Beterbiev utilized his power and precision to control the entire fight, but kicked it into high gear in the third round, sending the 29-year-old Maderna to the canvas with two right hands. He stood up, but soon after was sent to the canvas again. Tällä kertaa, spitting out his mouth piece to delay the bout causing Referee Marlon B. Wright to deduct a point.
At the start of round four, Maderna was dropped with a punishing right hand. He rose to his feet only find himself canvas agan, looking at his corner, they threw in the towel and the fight was stopped at 54 seconds of round four.
I am really satisfied by my performance,” said Beterbiev. “I want to thank my team for their patience during my inactivity.
My guy did really well after an absence of a year,” said Beterbiev’s trainer Marc Ramsay. “He is very special. In a short or medium period of time, we want to fight in a world championship.
The PBC on ESPN telecast, which is the first of seven between Kesäkuu 4 ja elokuussa 12, opened with two welterweight southpaws facing off in hopes of maintaining their undefeated records. Kuitenkin, it didn’t take long for Florida’s Bryant Perrella (14-0, 13 KOs) to prove he was the better man as he scored a second round TKO over Washington, D.C.’s David Grayton (14-1, 10 KOs).
Grayton was more active at the beginning of the fight, working his right hand on the inside. Perrella used his longer reach and height difference to his advantage as he did his best to dictate the pace. Perrella knocked Grayton down in the beginning of the second round and became forceful with the right hand as Grayton left himself open to punishment. Vihdoin, Perrella threw a left that caused Grayton to stumble and referee David Griffin waved off the fight at 2:19.
He came in real tougha tough competitor,” Said Perrella. “I was the best man tonight. I caught him with some really hard shots, dazed him. I took my time, I listened to what my team said and got him out of there.
This is tremendous,” Perella continued. “This is what we’ve been wanting for a while to fight another undefeated prospect and get the recognition we feel we deserve. The welterweight division is filled with lions, tigers and bears, but I’m Tarzan baby. I’m the king of this jungle. I’m ready for whatever.
Also featured on the telecast was a six-round super welterweight contest between prospect Jamontay Clark (10-0, 6 KOs) of Cincinnati and Mexican warrior Edgar Ortega (16-6, 10 KOs). The game Ortega shocked the six-foot-two Clark in the first round, sending him to the canvas with a hard right hand. Clark regained his composure in between the first and second, controlling the fight from then on. Despite taking the fight with nine days’ ilmoitus, Ortega stayed with Clark all six rounds, even rolling his ankle in the fourth. After the final bell rung, Clark remained undefeated, registering a unanimous decision victory with the judges scoring the bout 58-55 ja 58-54 (kahdesti).

HOLLYWOOD, FL. (Kesäkuu 4, 2016) – Undefeated lightweight world champion RancesKid Blast” Barthelemy (25-0, 13 KOs) defeated former world champion MickeyThe SpiritBey (22-2-1, 10 KOs) kohdalta päätös (117-110, 116-111, 110-117) vuonna päätapahtuma Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) päällä Piikki Perjantai night at the Hard Rock Live at the Seminole Hotel & Kasino Hollywoodissa, Florida.
Following an exciting first round in which Barthelemy backed Bey up at the bell, round two came to a close with similar fireworks in the form of an accidental head butt. In the commotion, a stunned Barthelemy stumbled to the canvas and referee Sam Burgos ruled it an official knockdown, making it the first of Barthelemy’s career.
Barthelemy said, “I really don’t remember exactly what happened, but I felt it was more of a slip than anything. I was a little off balance and we butted heads so at that point that’s when I went down, but that’s okay. I don’t mind that they counted it.
Bey had issues with the head contact also. “After I dropped him he got me again with a good head butt. The cut on my eye from that second head butt affected me for about four or five rounds, but it’s a fight, so you have to do the best you can with the vision you have. But I would have liked to avoid all the head contact.
It was the first time in my entire career, both amateurs and professionals, that I hit the canvas in any way,” added Barthelemy. “It was just a little surprising, but after that I knew I had to come out strong and put pressure on him because I knew the judges might hold that against me. My mentality originally was to outbox but I had to change my plans and start putting pressure on him.
In a fight that saw a lot of competitive back and forth action during the middle and late rounds, neither fighter was able to take complete control or end the evening early.
Barthelemy believed he’d done enough to win unanimously arguing, “When I heard the judge who gave the score to Bey I thought he was either blind or he was bought. I felt that was disrespectful not only to me but to the fans as well.
We knew what Mickey was prepared for though,” concluded Barthelemy. “We knew he was going to be an evasive counter puncher and we knew that Bey came from the Mayweather school of boxing. So we knew what we were up against and he put on a tough fight.
Bey vowed to avenge the hard-fought loss soon. “I’m ready to get right back after it and chase another belt. I’m looking to stay busy and get back in the ring soon.
Televisioidussa avaaja, undefeated Puerto Rican bantamweight Emmanuel Rodriguez (15-0, 10 KOs) beat experienced Mexican Alberto “Metro” Guevara (24-3, 9 KOs) yksimielisesti (99-91, 100-90, 99-91).
Rodriguez controlled the opening rounds with a variety of left hooks and overhand rights, backing Guevara up at will.
My strategy was to come in and attack him because he is not your typical Mexican-style fighter,” Said Rodriguez.
An accidental head butt at the end of round four led to a cut that developed under the left eye of Guevara.
We knew he was an awkward fighter,” said Rodriguez of their heads colliding, “But he was even more awkward than we thought.
A highly decorated amateur, Rodriguez continued his calculated, methodical approach throughout the middle rounds.
Rodriguez added, “We weren’t able to really decipher him in the first rounds but we were able to adjust eventually.
Guevara, who has fought in two world title fights, threw a change-up and came out fighting more wildly in round seven, causing Rodriguez some minor issues with the distance.
Kuitenkin, Rodriguez stuck to his game plan and used his superior timing to coast to victory in the later rounds.
Guevara said, “My plan was to box him and tap him when I had him, but things didn’t come out that way. I’m not sure if it was a lack of focus or what it was, I’m just not sure. I feel good though. Se oli kova taistelu, harder than I expected. He’s a strong guy. I felt a little constrained and a little slow, but I tried my best tänä iltana.”
Rodriguez summed up the win adding, “Tunnen suurta, Jumalan kiitos. I’m really happy with this Victory, it was a victory that I needed to add onto my record and thankfully I was able to get it. Now I’m going to take a month off and wait until my management team tells us what fight date comes next so we can continue to pursue the goals we have set for ourselves.
The second televised bout featured unbeaten prospect Caleb “Makea Hands” Kasvi(13-0, 10 KOs) getting a knockout victory over Columbia’s Carlos Galvan (12-5-1, 11 KOs) vuonna keskisarjan ottelu.
Plant spent much of the first two rounds displaying his trademark showmanship and feeling out Galvan.
Plant said his strategy entering the ring was, “To be sharp and slick tänä iltana, stay relaxed and patient. I didn’t want to force anything or leave myself out there too long.
That’s exactly what Plant did, ending the bout in the fourth with a devastating blow to Galvan’s solar plexus.
A frustrated Galvan said, “He got a lucky shot, I threw a straight right and he slipped by it and landed a body shot to my liver so I wasn’t able to continue with the fight after that.
It was just about staying patient and waiting for him to make a mistake,” Said Plant. “I wanted to take advantage, and that’s what happened. I took the body shot when I saw he was open and he went down.
