This is another great opportunity for me to gain exposure on NBC,” miingon Spence Jr. “A lot of people will be watching because of the Olympics that may not have known my name before. As an Olympian, headlining a major event four years after my Olympic run is exciting. Bundu is an older fighter, but he’s tough and has a lot of experience. He fought well against Keith Thurman. Thurman outboxed him but couldn’t knock him out. I think I can make a big statement in the division if I can stop him, as I did with Chris Algieri.
I am going to use my experience to my advantage on August 21,said Bundu. “When I fought Thurman I ended up being overcautious, but that will not be the case this time. I know it’s now or never for me and I won’t let this chance slip away. Spence will come forward but that will work to my advantage because I love fighting on the inside. I’m going to show Spence a few things that he hasn’t seen before.
The brand new Ford Amphitheater at Coney Island Boardwalk builds on the rich history of the sweet science in the Brooklyn neighborhood. Several heavyweight title fights took place on Coney Island at the turn of the 20th century, including James J. Jeffriesheavyweight world title knock out of Bob Fitzsimmons in the 11th round on June 9, 1899. Jeffries would then defend the title two more times on Coney Island with a points victory over Tom Sharkey and a knockout in the 23rd round against James J. Corbett. Lightweight great Joe Gans and former middleweight champion “Nonpareil” Jack Dempsey also boxed in Coney Island.
It is exciting to have rising star Errol Spence headlining the inaugural boxing event held on August 21 at the new Ford Amphitheater at the historic Coney Island Boardwalk,” miingon Lou DiBella, Presidente sa DiBella Entertainment. “Spence is one of the most gifted young fighters in all of boxing and is on track to be a world champion. He will face off against Leonard Bundu, in a final elimination bout, to become the mandatory for the IBF welterweight title, currently held by Kell Brook.
An Olympian who boasted a highly decorated amateur career, the 26-year-old Spence Jr.is coming off a dominating performance in which he stopped former world champion Chris Algieri in the fifth-round in a PBC on NBC main event. Spence Jr. is widely regarded as a future star in the sport and was dominant in his previous NBC appearances when he stopped Phil Lo Greco in the third round in June. His impressive 2015 also included TKO victories over Chris van Heerden, Samuel Vargas and Alejandro Barrera, culminating with him being named ESPN’s Prospect of the Year. Karon, he looks to secure himself a world title shot.
Originally from Sierra Leone but fighting out of Toscana, Italy, Bundu represented Italy at the 2000 Olympic games where he defeated eventual world champion Daniel Geale. A former European welterweight champion, he owns victories over Frankie Gavin, Lee Purdy and Ismael El Massoudi in addition to going the distance in defeat against Keith Thurman. Birmingham, AL (Hulyo 17, 2016) – Premier Boxing Champions televised action continued following the Fox portion of the telecast as unbeaten rising welterweight contender Jamal James (20-0, 9 KOs) napildi Wale Omotoso (26-3, 21 KOs) pinaagi sa split decision (97-92, 96-94, 93-96) sa 10-round main event sa Premier Boxing Champions sa FS1 and FOX Deportes gikan sa Kabilin Arena sa Birmingham, Alabama.
The second televised bout on FS1 and FOX Deportes featured Mexico’s Sergio Frias(18-6-2, 9 KOs) knocking out former world champion Vic Darchinyan (42-9-1, 31 KOs) sa ikaduhang round (2:45) of their junior featherweight bout.
Here is what the fighters had to say following their fights:
Jamal SANTIAGO
I didn’t want to get into a slugfest with him because I knew I had to get those points back (after getting dropped in the first round). I knew I had to make him pay for those misses. I was able to get points off that in the second half of the fight.
He was throwing some wild shots. I just had to adjust to that. I felt like my defense was good on the inside.
His shots were coming wide, and I was catching those from the inside. The second half of the fight I definitely came on hard and was putting on pressure. We waited so long that I think it might have had a little effect on my energy.
I thought I out boxed him karong gabii and deserved the decision. I believe that it was close, so I have no problem with the judges ruling it a split decision, apan ako midaog.
I’d definitely fight him again. I have to be able to beat guys like him, and in better fashion, if I want to be a champion.
Home OMOTOSO
Look at me and look at Jamal James. Look at my face and tell me who won. When they announced the decision everyone booed.
I don’t know what’s going on. Maybe it’s because I’m from Africa. Wala ako mahibalo.
I want to fight again as soon as I can. I’ll fight whoever. Dili ko igsapayan nga kini mao ang. I’ve been asking for a fight for nine months. I stay in the gym. I’ll go in the gym ugma. Boxing mao ang akong kinabuhi.
I dropped this kid and I hurt him. I beat him up. I’ll rematch him any time, or fight anyone else. It doesn’t matter to me.
VIC DARCHINYAN
It was the first time that I’ve been knocked out in my 25 years of boxing.
He just caught me. I think it was a counter right hand.
I know I threw a punch and he just caught me. I can’t believe that happened.
SERGIO FRIAS
He’s not a technically sound boxer, so I knew if I just stuck with technique and boxed him that I would catch him.
I wanted to land the right hand, but I wanted to be careful because he has a lot of power.
I wasn’t really looking to land that particular punch, but I did, and I ended it.

Bellator MMA’s Benson Henderson(23-6) ug Patrick “Pitbull” Freire (25-3), two of the most exciting mixed martial arts fighters in the world, do battle on Biyernes, August 26 (10:00pm-12:00am ET/PT). Benson Henderson has fought and beaten many of the best fighters in the world. His impressive resume includes victories over: Frankie Edgar, Donald Cerrone, Gilbert Melendez, Nate Diaz, Jim Miller and Bellator’s Josh Thomson. Apan “Smoothhas never faced an angry “Pitbull” in one of the most important fights of his life.
Patrick “Pitbull” Freiere is a former featherweight world champion who is stepping up to lightweight in the biggest challenge of his decorated career. In a Shakespearean twist, a win over Henderson would put him in line for a title shot against recently crowned 155-pound champion Michael Chandler, who scored a brutal knockout over Patricio’s brother to secure the division’s crown. But to avenge his brother’s loss, he must first defeat the highly-regardedBendo.
Henderson is also in need of a big win as his recent Bellator debut was spoiled by welterweight champion Andrey Koreshkov. The hard-hitting Russian scored a unanimous decision victory in a five-round brawl against Henderson this past April at“Bellator 153: Koreshkov vs. Henderson.
Robert Guerrero is among the biggest names in boxing today, having fought the sport’s marquee names like Floyd Mayweather. A former world champion in multiple weight classes, he owns signature victories over Andre Berto and Joel Casamayor. But now Guerrero is on a quest to return to the top of the welterweight division beginning with this matchup on August 27. He must defeat the hard-hitting Argentinian slugger David Emanuel Peralta to see his dreams of sitting atop the division realized once again.
The tripleheader also features all-action slugger Alfredo Angulo (24-5)taking on battle-tested Freddy Hernandez (33-8)in a battle of Mexican brawlers. A fan favorite in Southern California, Angulo enters this fight coming off of two knockout victories and he will look to make it three in a row when he steps into the ring onAugust 27. A veteran of many exciting 154-pound contests, Angulo is looking to continue to make noise in the middleweight division against Hernandez, who has won his last three fights heading into this showdown.
Rounding out the night of televised fights is 2012 U.S. Olympian Terrell Gausha(18-0) putting his undefeated record on the line against the Bronx’s Steve Martinez(16-2). Nakig-away gikan sa Cleveland, Gausha has risen up the rankings with five victories in 2015 and a seventh round stoppage of Orlando Lora in April. Now he will test himself against against the dangerous Martinez, who has recorded knockouts in 13 sa iyang 16 mga kadaugan.

Tunica, Miss. (Hulyo 15) – It was a good night for Russian super lightweight Sergey Lipinets (10-0, 7 KOs) who fought through a deep cut over his eye to score a rousing TKO over Nicaraguan brawler Walter Castillo (26-4-1, 19 KOs) diha sa usa ka Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) sa ESPN & ESPN main event that further solidified Lipinets as a force to be reckoned with in the 140-pound weight class. The night of fights, which emanated from Horseshoe Tunica Hotel & Casino in Tunica, Miss., marked the third PBC on ESPN & ESPN Deportes telecast in the month of July.
Lipinets made his power known early in the fight, but that did not deter Castillo from doing his best to feel out the Kazakhstan-born slugger. The action picked up in the third round as a swinging left thrown by Lipinets caused blood to pour from Castillo’s mouth. Castillo began the fourth round with an offensive attack, forcing Lipinets to back up toward the ropes. Castillo continued to throw several punches, including one that caused a deep gash above Lipinets’ wala nga mata. Castillo did not relent as he aimed for the cut, the first of Lipinets’ career. Despite the steady flow of blood dripping down Lipinets’ nawong, it did not seem to bother him.
Castillo’s punch output slowed down considerably as the fight wore on and Lipinets became more and more comfortable, despite the large cut above his eye. PBC on ESPN announcers Teddy Atlas and Joe Tessitore credited Lipinetscorner, led by renowned trainer Buddy McGirt, for keeping the deep cut under control. Less than one minute into the seventh round, Lipinets showed a burst of power, attacking Castillo, pressing him against the ropes, forcing Bill Clancy to wave off the fight at 2:45. At the time of the stoppage two of the judges had scored the fight even, with the third favoring Lipinets by one point.
We knew Walter Castillo was very tough guy coming in,” said Lipinets. “No one ever stopped him. No one ever even hurt him in the ring before and he was in with some solid guys. I knew he could take a punch and punch back. To be honest though, I was surprised by how good of a fighter he was.
Of his first cut as a professional, Lipinets said, “The cut bugged me for a while and I was closing my eye a bit, but I’m a warrior and I know how to take care of myself when I’m trouble.
I have only ten fights and I just beat a guy that good. I think I did ok. This fight just took me to a completely different level in boxing. I guarantee that other guys with 20/25 fights won’t be able to stay in the ring with me.
You can say I’m a slow starter,” continued Lipinets. “But if I see an opening I will take it early. I pace myself and study my opponent and then if the guy is still standing in the last half of the fight, he better run.
Castillo was unhappy with the stoppage saying, “They stopped it too early. I was still fighting. I was fine. I was not hurt. I don’t know why they stopped it. I was waiting him out and about to open up. I am a veteran. If I was hurt, I would have taken a knee. How do you stop a fight without a knockdown?
I had him fighting scared with the cut,” Miingon Castillo. “He was fighting desperate and that was his last try.
I’m very upset. I was able to fight. It was a good fight and that ruined it. I don’t mind losing but not like that. Let me go down swinging.
The telecast started out with a bang as 2012 Olympic silver medalist Tugstsogt Nyambayar (9-2, 6 KOs) of Waambartar, Mongolia sent Brooklyn’s Rafael Vazquez(16-3,13 KOs) sa canvas 30 seconds into the scheduled 10-round featherweight bout with a straight right hand. Vazquez rose to his feet with ease and threw some forceful shots of his own, but went down again 30 seconds later as Nyambayar threw another powerful right.
The Mongolian warrior, who fights out of Carson, Calif., was able to finish the fight at 1:24of the first round as he threw a left to the body followed by a right hand that saw Vazquez hitting the canvas for a third and final time.
I didn’t know I was going to be able to put that kind of a performance on [against Rafael],” said Nyambayar. “Ako adunay 100 percent of my energy left. I don’t know exactly how much power I actually have.
I had a great camp and I was ready for whatever came my way,” continued Nyambayar. “I’m very happy with the result, but I expected to win. I came in very confident. I thought it would go three or four rounds, but the opportunity to end it earlier appeared and I took it. Whoever comes my way, Ako andam. I’m on the road to be world champion and no one can stop me.
I just got caught and I couldn’t recover,” said Vazquez. “He’s a very strong puncher and he caught me still warming up. It happens in boxing. One of those things.
Vazquez said to me, you’ve got a future world champion on your hands,” said Nyambayar’s renowned trainer Joe Goossen. “A guy that is going to know that best is the guy getting hit. Uban sa [Nyambayar’s] reaction time and his speed, Vazquez saw and felt all of that and he came to the conclusion that Tug is going to be a world champion.
The televised bantamweight swing bout went the full six rounds as Houston-based David Perez (7-0, 3 KOs) outpointed Adan Ortiz (9-2, 8 KOs) of Guerrero, Mexico, who took the fight on five day’s notice. Perez started the fight strong, knocking down Ortiz toward the end of the first round, but the Mexican native rose from the canvas and was saved by the bell as Perez threw a barrage of punches to Ortiz’s head and body. Ortiz started the second round strong and maintained a tremendous amount of heart for the remainder of the bout. Both continuously threw flurries of punches, exchanging left hooks throughout. The judges saw it in favor of Perez with scorecards reading 60-53, 59-54 ug 58-55.

Fighters spoke to media at the BJCC’s Arena Club inside the same venue that will host a stacked night of fights sa Sabado sa gabii.
Ania ang giingon sa mga manggugubat sa pag-ingon Huwebes:
DEONTAY Wilder
I’ve wanted to hit somebody since May. I got teased but now it’s time. And I get to do it at home. There’s no better place to do it.
We’ve had a few guys that we could have chosen, but there were certain guys we didn’t want to give a short notice opportunity. We needed a certain type of fighter for this job.
We need someone who will fight with their heart and take this opportunity and make the most of it. Does he deserve the title shot? No he doesn’t. He knows it. But is Chris Arreola the perfect guy for this fight? Of course he is.
Chris is lucky to get a third chance at a title. There’s a lot of prospects who would love to fight him just to get a chance to fight for this belt. We needed a special person for this situation and I blessed Chris Arreola with the opportunity.
“Kini nga panahon sa pagpakig-away. He’s ‘The Nightmareand I’m a knockout artist. What makes me special is the way I knock people out. Go look at the people I’ve knocked out and see what I’ve given them.
This is going to be another story for me to write in the history books. I can feel it. Kini ni-adto sa mahimo nga usa ka dako nga show. Ayaw kini palabya.
I appreciated everyone who comes out for me when I’m here fighting at home. I’m really excited about this show. You know the words at the end of the night will be ‘And still! Heavyweight champion of the world.'
CHRIS ARREOLA
“Ako andam alang sa niini nga away. I’m more ready than I’ve ever been. Ako gigutom. This isn’t a cakewalk. I respect Deontay, that’s why I trained for you. Come fight time, there’s no respect, it’s time to fight.
One thing no one can question about me is my heart. I’m going to come at him but be smart. My goal is to take home that title and make history.
I want to thank Deontay for giving me this opportunity. I am a sleeping giant. I’m being underestimated. Place your bets on me and make some money.
SAMMY VASQUEZ JR.
Me and Felix Diaz are both coming to bring it. It’s going to be a tough fight for him and myself. People have to watch this fight. To me he’s undefeated and I’m coming in undefeated. We’re putting it all on the line in this fight.
Felix and I have worked together and we’re friends, apan kini mao ang negosyo. He knows that I’m going to bring it like I do every fight. It’s a great opportunity to be showcased on this card.
If you feel that you’re the best in your weight division, then it doesn’t matter who they put in front of you. My opponent doesn’t matter; we’re going to get the job done. I have to fight quality opponents to be able to step up to the next guy.
Felix Diaz is a great competitor and he’s a very tough fighter. He has a tremendous amount of talent and he never stops coming, just like I do.
“Ko sa usa ka pressure fighter. I like to show the crowd how I get down. I’m an undefeated fighter and I will remain that way Sabado sa gabii. I’m here to take care of business.
I need wins like this to get fights with Danny Garcia and Keith Thurman and I need to do it decisively.
If I can get this win I definitely want Danny Garcia. He’s a Philadelphia guy. I’m from Pittsburgh, it’d be a fun matchup. We’re both marketable guys and I think it’d be a huge fight.
“Ako lang gusto sa pagpakig-away sa mga labing maayo nga. That’s what I’m here for. Ko sa pagpakig-away bisan kinsa. I want to get a world title.
FELIX DIAZ
I want to thank everyone who is here today. Everything is ready to go. We’ve had a great training camp leading up to this fight.
I know that Sammy is a very good fighter. We’ve been stablemates before, apan kini mao ang negosyo. I’m going to do what I have to do to be victorious sa Sabado.
I’m ready to get in the ring and do anything that I can sa Sabado to get the victory.
Erickson LUBIN
This is a great opportunity on a big card. I’m here to showcase my talent and show why I’m one of the best 154-pound fighters in the world.
This is a stepping stone for me. I know this is a tough Mexican who will be a great opponent. I just took care of business early a few weeks ago in Chicago and I’m looking to do the same thing Sabado. I’m here to steal the show.
I want to thank my team for helping me in training camp and getting me to this moment. It’s ‘Hammer Timesa Sabado.”
Jamal SANTIAGO
We always stay ready in the gym. It’s always training camp. I’m at a point in my career where I have to be ready at all times. When the call comes, Ako andam.
We’re working on some things that we wanted to tighten up from the last fight and I can’t wait to show everybody my improvements.
Wale has been in there with some great competitors. We had to make sure everything is tightened up because he’s a strong guy. He has a good knockout ratio so you have to watch out for power punches.
A lot of guys I fight are shorter than me. I’m one of the tallest welterweights in the game. A lot of guys have to fight me the same way, so we know what to expect. Our defense is tight and I’m sitting down on my punches more than ever.
It’s a blessing to be on a card like this. I was very excited when I got the call. Deontay Wilder is a heavyweight champion and it’s a stacked card. It’s a great honor. I’m happy to keep stepping up in competition and in platform.
I’m a class-act in the ring. I’m trying to bring the master skill back to boxing. But I’m ferocious at the same time. You won’t be mad because I always give you a great show.
GERALD WASHINGTON
I’m looking to go out there and take care of my business. We’ve worked hard in training camp and we’re prepared for anything.
I’m going to use my speed and athleticism. The goal is to execute my game plan. Hopefully I can stay busy, land something big and get him out of there.
My grandfather is actually from Alabama so I have roots here. It’s very exciting to be on an undercard for Deontay Wilder defending the heavyweight world title. I have to perform and be exciting so that I one day I can be fighting a great champ like Deontay Wilder.
I’m different than I was before. This is going to be the best me stepping in there Sabado. I’m looking to get him out of there.
