LIGHTWEIGHT CHAMPION RETURNING TO NEF CAGE IN PORTLAND

A native of Brooklyn, New York and current head coach of Bang Muay Thai in Tampa, Florida, Vince McGuiness is no stranger to the New England MMA scene. His two most recent fights have been in Massachusetts, and McGuiness has even competed previously on a Portland fight card in 2015. He will be looking to rebound against Sanders after losing his last four bouts in the cage.

“I’m excited to be back in New England fighting again,” said McGuiness. “I always get love up there. I’m ready to put on a scrap!"

Like Powell, Sarah Matulis did indeed make her cage debut at “NEF 31” last November in Portland. That evening she was victorious over Chelsea Tucker with a first-round technical knockout. By day, Matulis is a mother and nurse practitioner who studied nursing at Pace University in New York. She is a member of The Outlet based in Dexter, Maine and regularly competes in grappling events throughout the New England region.

 

 

 

 

“I’m thrilled to be competing again for NEF,” said Matulis. “Carol Linn and I are both budding amateur fighters. I know she’s hunting for her first win, but I plan to remain undefeated. NEF fans are accustomed to seeing spectacular WMMA bouts, and I fully expect this fight will keep to that standard.”

Brianne Genschel (0-1) will return to take on Amanda Gallo (1-1) op 'n stryd gewig van 135-pond.

Genschel made her MMA debut at “NEF 26” in the fall of 2016 in a losing effort to a much more experienced Jessica Borga who already had five amateur fights to her credit. Despite the disadvantage in cage experience, Genschel held her own for a full three rounds and forced Borga to the judges’ telkaarte. Genschel is the owner and operator of the Farmington branch of The Foundry Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) school. She has practiced BJJ for more than a decade and holds a black belt in the martial art. Genschel is also a member of First Class MMA based in Brunswick, Maine.

“I’m really excited to get back in the cage,” said Genschel. “I have a feeling Amanda Gallo will be a great opponent, and certainly won’t make this an easy fight. He is determined to snap his losing streak on Junie 16 in Portland against Pineau. Hansen is a founding member of Berserkers MMA based in Rumford.

Despite staying active in recent years outside of Maine, Pineau has never competed in the NEF cage as a professional. He has lost his last four-in-a-row, and like Hansen, is looking to get back on track with a much-needed win at “NEF 34.” Pineau is currently a member of First Class MMA based in Topsham, Maine.

“I am very excited and for this opportunity to step back into the NEF cage and put on a show,” exclaimed Pineau when reached for comment. “I’ve had a lot of memorable fights with NEF, and I’m looking to make this another one! I’ve seen the majority of Mike’s fights. I know he’s a rugged guy who always brings it, so I’m extra excited to get in there and spill some blood together. The originally scheduled M-1 Challenge 91, April 21 in Saint Petersburg, featured M-1 Challenge featherweight champion Khamzat Dalgiev against American challenger Nate “The Train” Landwehr, has been cancelled. Dalgiev vs. Landwehr will be rescheduled during 2018.

 

 

 

Doskalchuk (8-1-0, M-1: 2-0-0), veg uit Oekraïne, won his title belt last September at M-1 Challenge 83, when he used a Guillotine Choke to submit Vadim Malygin in die tweede ronde.

 

 

 

Undefeated in M-1 competition, Doskalchuk won a majority decision in his M-1 debut last May, oor Binh Son Le by M-1 Challenge 78.

 

 

 

“I don’t care if my opponent has a belt or not,” Doskalchuk said. “The main thing is to properly prepare for the fight to determine the real flyweight champion. I am not expecting this fight to be easy. It’s going to be a tough battle and I will be looking for an opportunity to finish off my opponent. Fans will see a great fight. How will it end? Ashimov (8-2-1, M-1: 3-0-0) earned his Interim title shot this past February by stopping Gadzhimurad Aliev en Ervani Melonio with punches, onderskeidelik, in the second and first rounds. The co-feature is a middleweight showdown between veteran Russian fighter Mikhail Zayats (23-8-0, M-1: 13-5-0) and past M-1 Challenge middleweight title challenger Caio “Hellboy” Magalhaes (10-4-0, M-1: 1-1-0), van Brasilië. Zayats has fought in Bellator, Magalhaes in the UFC. Last October, Magalhaes lost his M-1 Challenge middleweight title challenge to champion Artem Frolov by way of a five-round unanimous decision, headlining M-1 Challenge 84.

 

 

 

One other main card fight was announced featuring one of China’s top MMA fighters, Musu “Iron King” Nuertiebieke (12-2-0, M-1: 0-1-0) versus American featherweight Daniel Swain (17-8-1, M-1: 0-0-1).
