Due to a series of injuries, Sulktanakhmedov (18-5-0, M-1: 10-1-0) has been inactive for the past five years, since he knocked out Tyson Jeffries in the second round of their 2011 sa pagpakig-away didto sa M-1 Challenge 24.

“I’ve been working on my strength,” Romanov said from his training camp, “because the champion in my weight class, Alexey Kunchenko, is physically strong. I need to catch up. Not that I’m looking forward to a title fight, but I always have grandiose plans, sa ingon, we’ll see how that goes. Karon, I’m focused on Sultanakhmedov, and I think my fight with him would be no harder than a possible fight with Kunchenko.
“I started training camp with two workouts a day, but I felt sick and decided to cutback to only one workout a day until I soon return to full mode. I’ve been training at home (St. Petersburg) but will soon go to Ryazan to wrestling training camp. Unya, I will go back to St. Petersburg to prepare at camp, and go to Borovaya for boxing. My opponent is left-handed, so I need appropriate sparring partners, but the guys in my camp are a great help.
“I know my opponent well having watched his fights as a youngster when he was champion. Karon, we need to reevaluate him. He was a good fighter who trains at ‘Gorets’ where there is, in principle, guys there who are top level. It’s difficult to say what form he has now because he hasn’t fought in so long. Karon, he is at the peak age for a fighter, 32, so we’ll see. I don’t think I’ll be favored in this fight, but I will go forward despite being the underdog.”

Kunchenko (15-0-0, M-1: 7-0), fighting out of Tyumen, Russia, used his tremendous Muay Thai skills to capture the coveted M-1 Challenge welterweight title belt last April at M-1 Challenge 65, when defending titlist Murad Abdulaev retired during the fourth round.
In a non-title fight, Kunchenko won a 3-round unanimous decision over Eduardo Ramon at M-1 Challenge at M-1 Challenge 70 kaniadtong Septyembre. His first title defense was December 5 sa M-1 Challenge 72, in which Kunchenko (gihulagway sa ubos) won a 5-round unanimous decision over Abdulaev in a rematch.

The prodigy has continued his dominance as a professional, consistently displaying his world-class Combat Sambo talent.

The 24-year-old Yusupov (6-0-0, M-1: 4-0-0), fighting out of Dagestan, Russia, will be making his first title defense having captured his coveted belt this past May at M-1 Challenge 66, by way of a 5-round unanimous decision over defending champion Viktor Nemkov.
Yusupov (2 KO / TKO, 1 SUB), representing Gorets fight club (Highlander), has three other victories in M-1 Challenge competition over Martin Zawada (DEC3), Mitry Madvedev (KO / TKO1 – Punch) ug Charles Andrade (DEC3).
Puetz, 29, has won six of seven M-1 Challenge fights going into fifth title fight. The talented German (5 KO / TKO, 5 SUB) from Team Spirit burst upon the M-1 Global scene 2 ½ years ago, sa M-1 Challenge 46, when he challenged M-1 Challenge light heavyweight champion Nemkov that ended in a 5-round split decision in favor of the new champion, Puetz.
Puetz successfully defended his title, in order, batok sa Luis Fernando(SUB2 – Choke) ug Valery Myasnikov (KO2 – Kumo), followed with a Super Fight knockout (nose injury) of M-1 Challenge heavyweight champion Marcin Tybura in the third round of their May 2, 2015 non-title fight at M-1 Challenge 72. To get back into title contention, Puetz won his last two fights against Andrey Seledtsov (DEC3) ug Marcus Vinicius (SUB3 – Choke) this past October at M-1 Challenge 71.

Petersburg, Russia (Nobyembre 9, 2016) – The already loaded M-1 Challenge 73: Gubat sa Narts card has been bolstered by the M-1 Global announcement that two American fighters, Lee “American Bulldog” Morrison ug “The Finisher” Josh Pagtul-id House, have been added to the 2016 season-ending event December 9th sa Ingushetia, Russia.
A super showdown between M-1 Challenge middleweight champion Ramadan Emeev(14-3-0, M-1: 8-1-0) and KO artist specialist Anatoly Tokov (24-2-0, M-1: 9-1-0) kabubut-on headline M-1 Challenge 73: Gubat sa Narts in a battle of elite Russian fighters.
Sa co-bahin, M-1 Challenge featherweight champion Juan “Kini mao ang” Buchinger (31-4-0, M-1: 6-0-0), away gikan sa Slovakia, defends his title belt against undefeated Russian challenger Magomed Idrisov (5-0-0, M-1: 5-0-0).

Morrison faces undefeated Russian prospect Moysar Evoloev (5-0-0, M-1: 5-0-0) in a fight contested at a 140-pounds (63.5 kilo) catchweight. Morrison is a grappler (see photo below with him in top position) who defeated current M-1 Challenge bantamweight title-holder Pavel Vitruk by decision at M-1 Challenge 58.

Morozov, fighting out of Kazakhstan, is an outstanding striker and well-rounded MMA fighter. He was on the wrong end of the M-1 Challenge 68 Fight of the Night last July in a loss by decision to Rafael Dias.

In addition to the rematch between Kunchenko (14-0-0, M-1: 6-0-0) and Abdulaev (15-4-0, M-1: 3-1-0), the lightweight fight between former champion Artiom Damkovsky ug Alexey “Buluhaton” Makhno had already been announced by M-1 Global.
Undefeated Russian middleweight Artem Frolov (7-0-0, M-1: 4-0-0), a strong striker and Combat Sambo master, faces American opponent Luigi “Ang Italyanong Tank” Fiorvanti (26-14-0, M-1: 4-3-0) battle with future title fight implications on the line for the winner.
Frolov is coming off a three-round unanimous decision over Rafael Xavier sa M-1 Challenge 70, while Fiorvanti is considered a good all-around fighter who is a former M-1 Challenge middleweight title challenger.
In a featherweight bout, fully recovered Kurbaneli Abdusalamor (6-2-0, M-1: 4-0-0) faces fellow Russian East Nagibin (7-2-0, M-1: 3-1-0). Abdusalamov has won four fights in a row, including his last 13 months ago against American Lee Morrison, which ended in a 3-round majority decision for the Russian fighter before he was sidelined with injuries.
Lightweight Damir Ismagulov (8-2-0, M-1: 4-1-0), a native of Kazakhstan fighting out of Russia, meets Brazilian Rubenilton “Rubinho” Pear (16-3-0, M-1: 0-1-0). The previously announced main event is a super showdown between M-1 Challenge middleweight champion Ramadan Emeev (14-3-0, M-1: 8-1-0) and knockout specialist Anatoly Tokov (24-2-0, M-1: 9-1-0).

Buchinger (31-4-0, M-1: 6-0-0), away gikan sa Slovakia, is riding a 10-fight win streak into M-1 Challenge 73 since he lost to Conor McGregor sa 2012. He captured the vacant M-1 Challenge title October 17, 2014 sa M-1 Challenge 52, pagpahunong Yon Nizami (see picture below) in the fourth round on punches in their Fight of the Night. Buchinger made a successful title defense 13 months ago at M-1 Challenge 62, taking a 5-round unanimous decision over Mansour Korobkov. Sa iyang katapusang away, this past June against Mikhail Korobkov sa M-1 Challenge 67, Buchinger needed only 4:41 of the opening round to choke his opponent into a submission in their non-title fight.
Idrisov is a strong striker and Russian Whu-Shu Sanda champion. He knockout current M-1 Challenge lightweight champion Alexander Butenko in his professional MMA debut, back in 2013 in a non-M-1 Global fight. His three M-1 Global victories have been against Yuri Maia (KO1 – kinumo) sa M-1 Challenge 49 Knockout sa Night, Max Coga (DEC3) ug Sergei Grecicho (DEC3) in his last fight September 20, 2015 sa M-1 Challenge 51 (see picture below).
