Central New England (Greater Lowell) 70th annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship Semifinals round results from Lowell

Lowell, Massa. (Januari 29, 2016) – For the second week in a row all 13 matches went the three-round distance in last night’s Central New England (Greater Lowell) semifinals round of the 70th annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship, featuring open and novice class action, at historic Lowell Memorial Auditorium.

Returning New England welterweight champion Xavier Vega, representing Canal Street Boxing in Lawrence (MA), ieu 4-1 winner against Michael Fontenez, of Nashua, NH.

Peter Welch’s Gym in South Boston led the hit parade with three winners, all in the novice class: lightweight Jonathan Depina, welterweight Lipi Fernandes jeung middleweight Brian Lawrence. The Lowell West End Gym was the only other with more than one winner last night, both in the open class, lightweight Brandon Higgins and light welterweight Jeremiah Perez.

The CNE championship finals, featuring open and novice class matches, will be held next Thursday wengi (Feb. 4) at Lowell Memorial Auditorium. See the remaining 2016 schedule below as well as last night’s results.

(Januari 25, 2016) – Returning New England Golden Gloves welterweight champion Xavier Vega, tina Lawrence (MA), leads a host of talented open and novice class amateur boxers into this Thursday night’s (Jan. 8) in the Central New England (Greater Lowell) semifinals of the 70^th annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship at historic Lowell Memorial Auditorium.

The 21-year-old Vega, representing Canal Street Boxing, faces Nashua (NH) nu nangtang Michael Fontanez in one of eight open class matches. There are also eight novice class matches scheduled.

Vega, who has a 33-3 catetan amatir, didn’t start boxing until he was 17 because he has only one kidney. A construction worker by day, Vega hopes to become a professional boxer and, lamun teu, a Lawrence police officer in order to give back to his community.
