Central New England (Greater Lowell) 70th annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship Semifinals round results from Lowell

LOWELL, Massa. (Januari 29, 2016) – For the second week in a row all 13 matches went the three-round distance in last night’s Central New England (Greater Lowell) semifinals round of the 70th annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship, featuring open and novice class action, in het historische Lowell Memorial Auditorium.

Returning New England welterweight champion Xavier Vega, representing Canal Street Boxing in Lawrence (MA), was een 4-1 winner against Michael Fontenez, van Nashua, NH.

Peter Welch’s Gym in South Boston led the hit parade with three winners, all in the novice class: lichtgewicht Jonathan Depina, weltergewicht Lipi Fernandes en middengewicht Brian Lawrence. The Lowell West End Gym was the only other with more than one winner last night, both in the open class, lichtgewicht Brandon Higgins and light welterweight Jeremiah Perez.

The CNE championship finals, featuring open and novice class matches, will be held aankomende donderdag nacht (Februari. 4) bij Lowell Memorial Auditorium. See the remaining 2016 schedule below as well as last night’s results.

LOWELL, Massa. (Januari 25, 2016) – Returning New England Golden Gloves welterweight champion Xavier Vega, van Lawrence (MA), leads a host of talented open and novice class amateur boxers into this Thursday night’s (Jan. 8) in the Central New England (Greater Lowell) semifinals of the 70^th annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship at historic Lowell Memorial Auditorium.

The 21-year-old Vega, representing Canal Street Boxing, faces Nashua (NH) uitdager Michael Fontanez in one of eight open class matches. There are also eight novice class matches scheduled.

Vega, die heeft een 33-3 amateur-record, didn’t start boxing until he was 17 because he has only one kidney. A construction worker by day, Vega hopes to become a professional boxer and, als niet, a Lawrence police officer in order to give back to his community.

A novice super heavyweight showdown between heavy hitters Ryan Brooks, of Weymouth (MA), and Boston’s Christian Ortiz. Zaterdag 14 maart op 6:00 pm

Join ons deze zaterdag avond 14 maart en geniet van de opwinding van amateur-boksen op het basisniveau.

Dit is een voordeel boksen show ter ondersteuning van Gleason's Give A Kid A Dream Foundation.

De wegen in voor deze show begint om 4:00PM en de eerste aanval zal beginnen om 6:00PM.

Al onze aanvallen worden gesanctioneerd door USABoxingMetro. Alle boksers moeten met hen hun boksen boek te hebben om deel te nemen.

De ticketprijs is $25 per persoon. Kinderen 6 en onder worden niet in rekening gebracht. Alle fitnessruimte leden en geregistreerde amateurs met hun boeken in de hand loon $20 per persoon.

Bruce Silverglade zal een van de inductees zijn in de Hall of Fame.

De 4e jaarlijkse Inductie en Awards diner zal zijn 26e zondag April bij Russo's On The Bay in Howard Beach. Het evenement loopt van12:30uur tot 5:30pm.

Weltergewicht Prospect, 'Speedy’ Rashidi Ellis zal deze zaterdag vechten voor twee riemen in Caguas, Puerto Rico

Voormalig amateur-ster, 'Speedy’ Rashidi Ellis ( 13-0, 10 KO's ) van Lynn, Massachusetts zal terugkeren naar de ring deze zaterdag, 14 maart in het Roger L. Mendoza Coliseum in Caguas, Puerto Rico. Zijn tegenstander zal Colombiaanse zijn, Victor Gonzalez ( 12-9, 11 KO's ) in een 8-ronde Bout, schema voor de vacants WBA Fedecaribe, en WBC Latino weltergewicht titels.

“Ik ben klaar om die titels naar Puerto Rico en de Verenigde Staten nemen. Ik ben erg dankbaar met mijn Puerto Ricaanse mensen, en de fans kunnen een oorlog tegen een keiharde Colombiaanse vechter verwacht. De training met mijn coach Alex Rivera is geweldig geweest, en we hebben het volste vertrouwen”, Rashidi commentaar Ellis, die volgende week dinsdag zal toetreden tot Manny Pacquiao trainingskamp op de Wild Card Gym als een van zijn sparring partners.

Het evenement wordt gepromoot door Miguel Cotto Promoties en Roc Nation Sports.

In zijn laatste gevecht op November 14, Ellis outboxed, en versloeg via vijfde ronde knock-out, tought veteraan, Joseph De los Santos ( 18-14-9 KO's ) van Dominicaanse Republiek in een 6 ronde Bout op de junior middengewicht afdeling gehouden in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Ellis, die op een gegeven moment van zijn boksen amateur-carrière werd de nummer één op het weltergewicht divisie (152 pond) in de Verenigde Staten, eindigde met een record van 60-11, die opgenomen:

-2012 Nationale PAL (Politie Athletic League) Champion-Drie keer New England Golden Gloves Champion

-Rocky Marciano Amateur Boxing Tournament Champion

-Zilveren medaille op de Independent Cup in de Dominicaanse Republiek

Ellis komt uit een familie van boksers. Zijn oudere broer, Ronald “Akeem” is een ongeslagen super middengewicht vooruitzicht. Zijn zus, Rashida, is een 2012 PAL kampioen, en een favoriet win medaille voor de U.S. Vrouwen `s Boxing Team in de 2016 Olympische Zomerspelen.
