Лоуэл, Омма. (Феврал 24, 2017) – Twelve novice division champions were crowned last night in the men and women’s finals of the New England Tournament of Champions, part of the 71st annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship, дар аудиторияи таърихии Мемориали Лоуэлл.
Central New England edged Western New England, 6-4, to win the team title and receive the George McGuane Award. Northern New England had the other two individual winners.
The much-anticipated showdown in the light welterweight bout lived up to its billing as Alejandro Paulino, of New London (Ч.), defeated Tyngsboro’s (MA) Nathan Balakin, 4-1. Paulino was presented the Louie Ayala Memorial Award as the Outstanding Boxer. Jose Ayala, Louie’s brother, made the presentation.

71st annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship Central N.E. semifinals results

Last night’s action included nine novice division semifinals matches, eight men’s and one women’s, as well as four open men’s matches. Two of the open matches featured final competitions (not semifinals like the others) as Boston light heavyweight Тейлор Мирс, representing The Ring gym, stopped Nahua’s (NH) John Xifaris дар даври дуввум, and North Chelmsford lightweight Брэндон Хиггинс edged Dorchester’s Jonathan Depina on points, 3-2.
Gloucester’s Gedney brothers, middleweights Adrien ва Henry, both won last night, shutting out their opponents (5-0), мутаносибан, James Marino, аз Медфорд, ва Furcy Ferreras, of Peabody. The Gedneys will not fight each other next in next Thursday’schampionship final of the novice super middleweight division. 71st annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship Central N.E. quarterfinals results from Lowell

(Январ 27, 2017) – The red-hot action continued in last night’s quarterfinals round of the 71st annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship of the Central New England (Greater Lowell) division as men’s and women’s open and novice matches were held in front of another great and exceedingly loud crowd at historic Lowell Memorial Auditorium.
Judges were very busy as all 10 exciting bouts, including a Junior Olympic match and two non-tournament bouts, went the complete distance. Individual standouts included a pair of open division boxers, welterweight Michael Fontanez, of Nashua (N.H.), and Methuen (MA) middleweight Ярмарко Гусман. A representative of Nashua, Пал, Fontanez is a slick, hard hitting southpaw who shutout, 5-0, a very tough Kenny Larson, of Salem (MA). Guzman, boxing out of Canal Street Gym, looked like a veteran boxer on his way to a 5-0 shutout win over Lowell’s Julien Baptiste.
