Much is stake for these boxers as the 2016 N.E. champions will qualify to represent Team New England at the National Golden Gloves Championships for men in Lafayette, לואיזיאנה (מאי) and women in Ft. לודרדייל, פלורידה (יולי).

71st annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship

 

LOWELL, מסה. (פבואר 24, 2017) – Twelve novice division champions were crowned last night in the men and women’s finals of the New England Tournament of Champions, part of the 71st annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship, at historic Lowell Memorial Auditorium.
Central New England edged Western New England, 6-4, to win the team title and receive the George McGuane Award. Northern New England had the other two individual winners.
The much-anticipated showdown in the light welterweight bout lived up to its billing as Alejandro Paulino, of New London (CT), defeated Tyngsboro’s (תואר שני) Nathan Balakin, 4-1. Paulino was presented the Louie Ayala Memorial Award as the Outstanding Boxer. Jose Ayala, Louie’s brother, made the presentation.
“We had another big, enthusiastic crowd that enjoyed watching some great matches,” אמר בובי רוסו, מנכ"ל ניו אינגלנד כפפות זהב. “The novice division finals had so many good matchups. LOWELL, מסה. (פבואר 17, 2017) – Many of the best novice boxers in New England competed last night in the semifinals of the New England Tournament of Champions, part of the 71st annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship, at historic Lowell Memorial Auditorium.
To the delight of an always enthusiastic crowd, hometown-favorite Team Central had the most individual winners with seven, followed by Team Western (4), Team Southern (3) and Team Northern (1).
“Nate Balakin dominated his bout and next Thursday night’s finals match with the other light welterweight winner last night. Alejandro Paolino, is one everybody is looking forward to seeing,”

71st annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship Central N.E. semifinals results

LOWELL, מסה. (פבואר 3, 2017) – Fourteen exciting matches were held last night in the semifinals round of the 71st annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship, סנטרל בניו אינגלנד (רבתי לואל) החלוקה, at historic Lowell Memorial Auditorium.

Last night’s action included nine novice division semifinals matches, eight men’s and one women’s, as well as four open men’s matches. Two of the open matches featured final competitions (not semifinals like the others) as Boston light heavyweight Taylor Mears, representing The Ring gym, stopped Nahua’s (NH) John Xifaris בסיבוב השני, and North Chelmsford lightweight Brandon Higgins edged Dorchester’s ג'ונתן דפינה on points, 3-2.

LOWELL, מסה. (ינואר 27, 2017) – The red-hot action continued in last night’s quarterfinals round of the 71st annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship of the Central New England (רבתי לואל) division as men’s and women’s open and novice matches were held in front of another great and exceedingly loud crowd at historic Lowell Memorial Auditorium.
Judges were very busy as all 10 exciting bouts, including a Junior Olympic match and two non-tournament bouts, went the complete distance. Individual standouts included a pair of open division boxers, welterweight Michael Fontanez, of Nashua (נ.ה.), and Methuen (תואר שני) בינוני Yarmarco Guzman. A representative of Nashua, PAL, Fontanez is a slick, hard hitting southpaw who shutout, 5-0, a very tough קני לארסון, of Salem (תואר שני). גוזמן, boxing out of Canal Street Gym, looked like a veteran boxer on his way to a 5-0 shutout win over Lowell’s ז'וליאן בטיסט.
