**BILOXI, MEVROUW.** (Mei 6, 2019) – Licht zwaargewicht mededinger **Ahmed Elbiali** zullen strijden **Marlos Simões** in een confrontatie van 10 ronden als onderdeel van Premier Boxing Champions op FS1 en FOX Deportes-actie zaterdag, Mei 25 van Beau Rivage Resort Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi. De 28-jarige Elbiali (18-1, 15 KO) komt uit een spannende derde ronde knock-out overwinning op Allan Green op Jan.. 13 op FS1. Elbiali, een Egyptisch-Amerikaanse die in Miami woont, Florida, sloeg Green in alle drie de rondes neer voordat hij de overwinning behaalde. Het was zijn tweede overwinning op rij door knock-out – de andere kwam afgelopen juni tegen Zoltan Sera 10 – sinds hij het eerste gevecht van zijn carrière verloor tegen voormalig wereldkampioen Jean Pascal in 2017. Simões (13-1-2, 5 KO) komt een onderbreking van de overwinning op Jefferson Luis De Sousa in december. De 30-jarige Curitiba, Parana, Brazilië leed afgelopen juni het enige verlies uit zijn loopbaan tegen Manuel Ceballos.

Een voormalig kampioen van de gouden handschoenen in New York, Newman (10-1-1, 7 KO) zal proberen te herstellen van een beslissingsverlies tegen Lionell Thompson dat kwam na het vechten tegen Paul Parker om een gelijkspel op FS1 in 2017. De 27-jarige uit Brooklyn was ongeslagen in zijn eerste 10 pro-gevechten na het inschakelen van een professional 2014.

Ook in actie zijn de ongeslagen Atlanta Light Heavyweight **Brandon Glanton** (8-0, 7 KO) in een wedstrijd van zes ronden en Chicago's **Shawn Simpson** (9-0, 3 KO) op zoek om zijn ongeslagen streak levend te houden in een zes of acht ronden bantamgewicht gevecht. **CARSON, CALIF.** (April 20, 2019) – Former two-division champion **Danny “Gierzwaluw” Garcia** (35-2, 21 KO) gedaald **Adrian Granados** (20-7-2, 14 KO) three times before stopping him in round seven Saturday night in a welterweight showdown that headlined Boxing Champions on FOX and FOX Deportes from Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, Californië.

“I’ve said it before, when Danny Garcia is at his best, nobody can beat him,” Said Garcia. “I had gotten a little comfortable in the past, but I put my 110 percent into this fight and when I do, I beat everyone.”

Garcia got his offense started early, deflecting a right hand from Granados in round two and throwing a perfect left hook counter that dropped Granados for the first time in the fight. Granados continued to push and tried to change the tide, but an overhand right at the end of an exchange by Garcia sent Granados down for the second time in round two.

“It felt good landing that big left hook,” Said Garcia. “I was proud of my performance. I thought I did a great job tonight.”

“He was very sharp in the exchanges,” said Granados. “That’s where he was catching me. I knew that’s what I had to avoid. But the toughness in me is always ready to go. I was willing to engage.”

Granados tried to find ways to slow Garcia’s momentum, but while trying to crowd Garcia he was too often caught with power punches on the inside. Round four saw Granados begin to bleed heavily from the nose and in round five Granados was dropped for the third time, this time from a combination Garcia delivered while he had Granados on the ropes.

“The way to make a statement tonight was to stop him,” Said Garcia. “The game plan was to break him down. I have too many tools. I couldn’t let him hang around with me.

“He wanted to get closer to me and make it a dogfight. But I surprised him when I stood with him and banged to the body. Then I started making him miss and that’s when I stopped him.”

In round seven, Garcia landed 48% of his power punches according to CompuBox, and after buzzing him several times, unleashed a flurry while Granados was on the ropes that forced referee Thomas Taylor to stop the bout 1:33 in de zevende ronde.

“He caught me with some good shots but I really thought I was fine,” said Granados. “I think the referee was a little over-protective. I had a plan to go the whole fight and they stopped me on my feet. I was still catching him with shots. I was still dangerous and looking for a big shot to change the fight. The referee had to do his job though and I understand it.”

Met de overwinning, Garcia will look for more big fights with fellow elite welterweights.

“I hope I didn’t scare Manny Pacquiao away,” Said Garcia. “I’d love a rematch with Shawn Porter or Keith Thurman, or a fight with Errol Spence Jr. Ik ben terug!”
The co-main event featured heavyweight contender and Southern California fan-favoriteAndy “The Destroyer” Ruiz Jr. (32-1, 21 KO) scoring a TKO victory overAlexander Dimitrenko (41-5, 26 KO) after five rounds of action in their heavyweight showdown.

Ruiz flashed the exceptional hand speed that has defined his career, landing hard combinations to the head and body of the taller Dimitrenko. Ruiz stalked Dimitrenko, controlling the center of the ring and picking his spots to unload.

“He started slowing down and I could see the face he made when I hit him with body shots,” said Ruiz. “I just stayed disciplined and focused. I couldn’t get too anxious. I just wanted to break him down until the tree fell down.”

Dimitrenko tried to use his jab to keep Ruiz at bay and was able to cause a welt under Ruiz’s right eye as the early rounds went on. It was not enough to keep Ruiz from coming forward and in round five he began to pile up the punishment, punctuated with hard right hooks that snapped Dimitrenko’s head back.

“We worked on slipping his right hand and coming back with my own,” said Ruiz. “I missed with a few of them but I stayed busy. I focused on just getting the job done.”

Na de vijfde ronde, and on the advice of Dimitrenko’s corner, referee Ray Corona stopped the bout before round six could commence. Ruiz was comfortably ahead on all three scorecards and set his sights on another top heavyweight contender for his possible next opponent.

“For my next fight there’s somebody like me, a chubby exciting fighter I want,” said Ruiz. “Adam Kownacki I’m ready, let’s do this.”

The opening bout on FOX saw unbeaten top contender **Brandon “Heartbreaker” Figueroa** (19-0, 14 KO) earn the Interim WBA Super Bantamweight title by stoppingYonfrez Parejo (22-4-1, 11 KO) after eight rounds of action. Parejo did not answer the bell for round nine, forcing referee Jerry Cantu to stop the bout while Parejo was in the corner.

“This is an amazing feeling and a dream come true,” Said Figueroa. “I can’t wait for what’s coming next.I thought I was going to finish him the next round. He had lasted pretty well but once I put the pressure up to another level, I knew he wouldn’t be able to continue.”

The 22-year-old Figueroa used his signature pressure early and often, walking through effective shots Parejo landed in the early rounds to establish his position in the fight. Parejo had success landing hooks while Figueroa was exposed on the inside, but was unable to avoid the return fire, especially the body shots that eventually led to the end of the fight.

“He threw a lot of strong shots to the body and I felt my legs go at the end of the last round,” said Parejo.”He’s very strong but sometimes flat-footed and I was trying to take advantage of that. He was too strong tonight.”

Figueroa began to throw even more combinations in the late rounds, nullifying the offense that Parejo was trying to get going. His most prolific rounds were rounds four and five, where he landed 31 en 41 power punches respectively. After a one-sided round eight where Figueroa out landed Parejo 33 naar 15, it had become clear that Parejo didn’t have enough on his punches to stop the onslaught. The referee stopped the bout after consulting with Parejo before the start of the ninth round, officially giving Figueroa the victory.

“My conditioning was amazing and I felt strong every round,” Said Figueroa. “I’m next in line and I’m ready for anyone.”

After the card on FOX, PBC Fight Night Extra on FS1 and FOX Deportes was headlined by **Jeison Rosario** (19-1-1, 13 KO) winning a split-decision over **Jorge Cota** (28-3, 25 KO) door scores van 97-93 for Cota and 96-94 en 97-93 for Rosario in a 10-round super welterweight bout

The FS1 portion kicked off with highly-touted prospect **Rolando “Rollie” Romero** (9-0, 8 KO) uitspelen van **Andres Figueroa** (9-5, 5 KO) 1:27 into round four of their lightweight fight. The workout also featured heavyweight contender **Andy Ruiz Jr.** en **Alexander Dimitrenko**, who meet in a 10-round bout, and unbeaten contender **Brandon Figueroa**, who faces Venezuela’s **Yonfrez Parejo** in a 12-round match for the WBA Interim Super Bantamweight title that kicks off the broadcast at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT.

“I don’t think Danny is looking past me, but I know he has bigger plans. I’m here to interrupt those plans. I have my own plans. I’m going to catapult myself to where I belong and where I should have always been.

“My parents worked so hard to put me on the right path. I got involved with sports as a kid and never looked back. I always stayed focus on my sports and studies. The temptations were there in Chicago. I stayed true to myself and now I’m in a place where a lot of people look up to me. If I win on Saturday it can show that anything is possible.”

**ANDY RUIZ JR.**

“This is going to be my fourth fight at this venue. I’ve gotten a knockout every time, so I think it’s a good luck arena for me. I’ve had setbacks, but I’m ready for my comeback.

“I’ve been training hard for this fight to make a statement. I’m excited to get this win and do it emphatically.

“Dimitrenko is a veteran fighter and I know I can’t take him lightly. We’re going to be ready and may the best man win. I’m ready to take on all challengers.

“I just need to stay loose and let my hands go. I’m going to show the kind of fighter that I am. My speed and the way I use the ring will be a key.

“I’ve watched Dimitrenko’s fights, and I know I just have to do what I have to do. I think it’s harder for him to fight a smaller guy like me, especially one with speed and who throws combinations.”

**ALEXANDER DIMITRENKO**

“This is an important fight for me and I’m here to win. This is nothing new to me. My job is to come here put on a great performance. I’ve been a pro for a long time and I’m ready for Saturday.

“I have more experience in big fights than Ruiz. I’m going to give my best in this fight. There’s no pressure on me and I’m feeling relaxed and ready for war.

“My last fight against Bryant Jennings ended with a bad stoppage and I’m looking to erase that memory. A win on Saturday is important to me and I’m not looking past it. I have to do my job and we’ll see what happens after that.

“This is my first time in Los Angeles, I’ve gotten to enjoy the weather a little bit but it’s all business. I’m focused on fighting on Saturday, that’s been the goal all camp and we’re leading up to a great show on Saturday.”

**BRANDON FIGUEROA**

“This is a moment I’ve been waiting for since I was a little kid. The opportunity is here, I’m ready and I can’t wait to take it.

“I had a really good training camp. My body is ready physically and mentally. I know that Parejo is a really good fighter who’s going to try to box me. I feel like once I put the pressure on him, I’m going to be able to dominate him.

“I think Parejo has weaknesses on his inside game, which is something I’m really good at. I feel like for my past few fights I’ve used that to dominate my opponents.

“Als we in die ring zijn, all I’m going to see is Caleb Truax, nothing else matters. I’m very fortunate to be here and have the chance to display my skills. He has to look good in front of his fans, and I’m just here to give the fans a good fight. There’s no pressure to do anything extra.

“The weather here kind of reminds me of back home in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Going to new cities is kind of like having new places to conquer. I’m here with the right mindset that Minnesota is going to be a place I’m remembered and that I’ll have a great memory from.

“When I sparred Caleb I remember I knocked his headgear off and it flew across the ring, that’s the only thing I really remember from that. I knew our paths could eventually cross. I’ve had my eye on him and I was really happy for him when he won his title. I have a feeling we’re going to combine for a great fight.

“I have a very determined opponent and I’m fighting in his backyard. It’s a tough fight for both of us. I have to put my authority down on this fight and control it. It’s going to be hard with all his fans in there, but what I’ve always done is take negative circumstances, and turn them into positives.”

“I’m excited for Saturday night. It’s a big fight and important for me that I’m in the main event and in a title eliminator. I’m looking to earn a chance at another title and I know that I have to take care of business on Saturday to get there.

“I’m looking forward to sharing the ring with Peter Quillin, a guy I’ve known and respected for a while. He’s accomplished a lot. I think that our styles are really going to clash and give the fans a lot of action and drama.

“Peter and I sparred a long time ago, terug in 2012. I came away feeling confident that if we ever fought, I’d be able to get the job done. “It’s a thrill to be in this fight and have it here at The Armory in front of my hometown fans. I saw the support that (fellow Minnesota-native) Jamal James got for his last fight, and I’m expecting more of that on Saturday. It’s going to be special and I’m going to take advantage.”

(April 11, 2019) – Voormalig super kampioen weltergewicht Austin “Geen Twijfel” Forel keert terug naar de ring om het op te nemen tegen de voormalige titeluitdager Terrell Gausha in een 10-ronden superweltergewicht gevecht dat de Premier Boxing Champions op FS1 en FOX Deportes op zaterdag in de schijnwerpers zet, Mei 25 van Beau Rivage Resort Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi.

Terrell Gausha trekt zich voor niemand terug en dat zorgt voor een spannende wedstrijd tegen forel. Chordale Booker zal zijn ongeslagen record op het spel zetten tegen Wale Omotoso in wat een van zijn zwaarste tests tot nu toe zal zijn. Het is een show die voor elk wat wils heeft die naar Beau Rivage komt of op afstemt FS1 en FOX Deportes.”

Forel (31-5, 17 KO) heeft verward met enkele van de top super weltergewichten van deze generatie, waaronder Saul Alvarez, Erislandy Lara, Miguel Cotto, Jermell en Jermall Charlo en Jarrett Hurd. De 31-jarige Gausha (21-1, 10 KO), een lid van de 2012 U.S. Olympisch boksteam uit Cleveland, Ohio, zal kijken om zichzelf er weer in te plaatsen titelstrijd met een overwinning op Trout. Hij kwam tekort in zijn eerste titel vecht tegen Erislandy Lara, het verliezen van een unanieme beslissing in 2017, voordat herstelde zich met een knock-out overwinning op Joey Hernandez in zijn laatste gevecht in december.

“Ik voel me goed over dit gevecht en ik denk dat het perfect is vecht voor mij,” zei Gausha. “Met Austin Trout als voormalig kampioen en ervaring hebben met het vechten tegen alle topmensen in de divisie, het geeft me de kans om te laten zien waar ik aan toe ben. Het gaat niet alleen om winnen, maar het is de manier waarop ik zal winnen, zal mensen op de hoogte brengen.”

Booker (14-0, 7 KO) komt uit een unanieme beslissing overwinning over Juan De Angel in januari op FS1. De 27-jarige linkshandige uit Stamford, Conn., was bezig in 2018, gaand 5-0 met drie knock-outs. Booker is erg actief ook in zijn Stamford-gemeenschap, het runnen van zijn liefdadigheidsinstelling voor risicojongeren en amateurs trainen voor de gouden handschoenen.

De 33-jarige Omotoso (27-3, 21 KO) is een veteraan met een harde neus die zal Booker zijn zwaarste test tot nu toe presenteren. Geboren in Lagos, Nigeria, Omotoso leerde vechten op straat voordat hij zijn vaardigheden in het boksen aanscherpte Sportschool. Hij belt zichzelf “Geluksvogel” want hij voelt zich gelukkig te hebben gemaakt het van de straat af en word een succesvolle professionele bokser. Nu training in Los Angeles, Omotoso versloeg Freddy Hernandez voor het laatst in december 2017.

“Ik kreeg de oproep om tegen een jongen te vechten, ongeslagen vechter in Booker en ik zei: kom maar op,” zei Omotoso. “Ik ben echt blij dat hij de strijd aanging omdat de meeste mensen zeggen dat ik te gevaarlijk ben en ook moeilijk. Ik zal alles geven wat ik heb. Als ik naar de ring ga, doe ik al mijn moeite en training in de strijd. Dat is de manier waarop deze sport is. Ik weet dat hij dat gaat doen kom binnen met alles wat hij heeft, maar de sterkste zal winnen.”

Stanionis (8-0, 5 KO) komt uit Kaunas, Litouwen en was lid van de 2016 Litouws Olympisch boksteam. De 24-jarige, wie er nu in woont Oxnard, Californië, en traint met Ronnie Shields in Texas, is on the fast track toward being a top contender. He’s continued to impress with victories over durable veterans Levan Ghvamichava and Samuel Figueroa in his last two bouts.
