WBA and WBO to add regional titles to Boxcino championship fights this Friday in Corona, California

ARANCIONE, Calif. (Maggio 18, 2015) – Questo Venerdì notte al Omega Prodotti Outdoor Arena, il 2015 Boxcino finals will take place in the heavyweight and jr. middleweight divisions.
The fights will be televised on ESPN Friday Night Fights beginning at 10 PM ET.

Alyson DeRenzis wins Boxcino Bracket Challenge

Philadelphia, PA (Maggio 6, 2015)— Banner Promotions is pleased to announce that Alyson DeRenzis has taken first place in the Boxcino Bracket Challenge.
Alyson will take home the grand prize of two ringside tickets to the Boxcino finals that will take place on Maggio 22 in Corona, California, a full roundtrip for two to the finals, complete with a hotel stay and meals for two, as well as a guest invitation to the pre-fight weigh in and post fight press conference. Alyson will also receive two Boxcino t-shirts.
The runner-up is Matt Andrzejewski. Matt will have two tickets to the finals and two Boxcino t-shirts.

ARANCIONE, Calif. (Maggio 5, 2015) – Medi junior Brandon Adams (16-1, 12 KO) is returning to a familiar situation. After coming up short in last year’s Boxcino finals and suffering the only loss of his career, the Los Angeles-native dropped down one weight class and fought his way back to the 10-round championship fight.

John Thompson reflects on Boxcino semifinal win and looks forward towards the final on May 22

Newark, NJ (Aprile 21, 2015)— Giovanni “Apollo Kidd” Thompson has begun preparations for his Maggio 22 Boxcino final bout against Brandon Adams. (17-1, 12 KO).

Thompson is in Virginia, training under Kay Koroma and he is looking to win the prestigious tournament against Thompson in the 10-round bout at the Omega Products International Outdoor Arena in Corona, California.
Thompson (16-1, 5 KO) is coming off a 8-round split decision over previously undefeated Stanyslav Skorokhod on April 10 a Betlemme, PA.
“I outboxed the guy,” ha detto Thompson. I focused on what I needed to focus on and that was using my jab. I also focused on not to exchange and bang with him and I did a pretty good job of that.”
“As well as I fought, I do not think that was even my best win.”
Now he looks towards Adams. Adams of Los Angeles has experience in the Boxcino finals as his only loss was to Willie Monroe Jr. in last year’s Middleweight finals.
“I am happy to be in the finals. This is an opportunity that will be the uprising of my career,” continued Thompson.
“Brandon is a brawler. He will have a few weeks to come up with a strategy to beat me.”
Said Thompson’s promoter, Vito Mielnicki of GH3 Promotions, “I believe we are longer, been in tougher and the better boxer. Brandon is a good fighter but I think he is too green. I know he had a brief amateur career and he could be too green for John.”

CARSON, Calif. (Aprile 18, 2015) – Confident and determined, Andrzej “The PolishPrincipe” Fonfara (27-3, 16 KO) spoiled the ring return of Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (48-2-1, 32 KO) in resounding fashion Sabato notte, flooring the former middleweight champion one time en route to a one-sided ninth-round TKO in the main event ofShowtime Championship Boxing vivere ORARIO DELLO SPETTACOLO.

 

Fonfara, of Chicago by way of Radon, Polonia, dropped Chavez, of Culiacan, Sinaloa, Messico, with a wide left hook 50 seconds into the ninth round before a boisterous crowd of 8,636 predominately-Chavez fans at StubHub Center. It was the first time in 52 professional fights that Chavez had hit the canvas from a punch.

 

Upon returning to the corner, Chavez could be heard on the telecast telling trainer Joe Goossen that he had hurt his right leg and could no longer continue. Pochi istanti dopo, the fight was halted. “Chavez said before the fight that he didn’t think I could take his body punches. I think I took them pretty good and passed that test.

 

“I know there are things I can still work on in training to become a more complete boxer, mastasera was a dream come true. I want a rematch with (Light Heavyweight World Champion) Adonis Stevenson.

 

Said Chavez, the son of legendary Mexican icon, Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. in the ring afterward and before he was taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure, “Può essere 170,172 pounds is too big for me, maybe I’ll go back down. Miguel Cotto (39-4, 32 KO) is the reigning WBC and Ring Magazine middleweight world champion and the first native of Puerto Rico to become world champion in four different weight classes. He is the former WBO junior welterweight world champion, the former WBA welterweight world champion, the former WBO welterweight world champion and the former WBA super welterweight world champion. He also represented Puerto Rico in the 2000 Giochi Olimpici di Sydney, Australia. Brandon Adams e John Thompson won semifinal bouts in the Boxcino 2015 Jr. Middleweight Tournament while Andrey Fedosov e Donovan Dennis scored impressive stoppage victories in the Heavyweight tournament, as all four punched their tickets to the finals in bouts that took place this past Venerdì al Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem.
The bouts were televised live on ESPN Venerdì Night Fights.
The show was promoted by Banner Promotions, Inc.
The finals of both weight classes will take place on Venerdì, Maggio 22 al Omega Products International Outdoor Arena a Corona, California and will be aired live on ESPN Venerdì Night Fights.
Brandon Adams lands the uppercut
Adams took out longtime friend Vito Gasparyan in round seven of their scheduled 8-round bout.
Adams worked very well on the inside as he landed some solid shots to the head and landed to the body nicely. Gasparyan hung tough against his one-time sparring partner but the amount of solid punches began to show on Gasparyan and the bout was stopped 35 seconds into round seven with a badly swollen left ear.
Adams, 155 1/2 lbs of Los Angeles moves onto the finals with a record of 17-1 con 12 ko. Gasparyan, 154 lbs of Burbank, CA è ora 15-4-5. Adams will not meet John Thompson.
John Thompson won an 8-round split decision over previously undefeated Stanyslav Skorokhod.
Thompson lands the right hand
Thompson boxed well early as he used his jab to set up three and four punch combinations, while Skorokhod landed some good power shots. Skorokhod was cut around his right eye in round two while Thompson suffered a cut in the same area in round four.
Thompson did well when the fight was in the center of the ring. Skorokhod landed several flush punches but it wasn’t enough as the judges preferred the boxing of Thompson to the tune of 78-74 e 77-75 while Skorokhod won a card 78-74.

“I used my speed, quick feet and combinations,” said Dennis. “I saw an opening in the first round and then in the second I came with an overhand left that landed right on the button and he crumbled to the canvas.”
The punch was so devastating that it was ESPN Sports Center top play of the night.
On fighting Andrey Fedosov in the finals, “It is going to be a tough fight and I will have to work harder.”

Just seconds into the bout, Thomas landed a straight left and sent Fedosov to the canvas. Fedosov came back in round three and landed a ripping combination that led to Thomas to a knee and and he did not beat referee Gary Rosado’s count at 1:01 di tre tondo.

BROOKLYN (Aprile 12, 2015) – Premier Boxing Champions su NBC returned with two exciting bouts Sabato night as Danny “Veloce” Garcia (30-0, 17 KO) sconfitto Lamont Peterson (33-3-1, 17 KO) by majority decision and “Irlandese” Andy Lee (34-2-1, 24 KO) e Pietro “Kid Chocolate” Quillin (31-0-1, 22 KO) fought to a split draw at Barclays Center.

 

The evening’s second main event saw the undefeated Garcia stalk the lightning quick Peterson around the ring while consistently attacking Peterson’s body. Peterson moved well in the first half of the fight, but did not begin engaging offensively until the later rounds.

 

The two exchanged blows throughout a raucous twelfth round that stirred the crowd of 12,300 at Barclays Center into a frenzy. The judges tallies ended at 115-113 for Garcia twice and one score of 114-114.

 

“Mi sento benissimo. I prepared for a war. He was moving a lot. I thought it was close, not going to lie,” ha detto Garcia. “It was definitely close the whole way through. I did enough to win and I’m happy with my performance.

 

[On going up in weight] “I feel like I have to go up. It’s affecting my performance, but I feel like I did a great job.”

 

“I did my part. I’m not calling it a robbery but it was a good fight,” Ha detto Peterson. “I don’t expect an easy journey for me to get where I’m going. Mi sento benissimo. That’s probably the least contact I’ve ever had in a fight.”

 

In the first main event, Quillin scored a huge knockdown in the first round and followed it up by putting Lee on the canvas in round three. Lee made adjustments as the fight went on and began to box Quillin effectively, even putting him down in the seventh round.

 

Lee and Quillin landed almost the same percentage of punches with Lee connecting on 38 percent and Quillin on 39 cento. One judge scored the bout 113-112 for Lee with another scoring the bout 113-112 for Quillin and the final had a score of 113-113.

 

“There’s a reason why judges are judges. They see it their way. I respect the decision,” Detto Quillin.

 

[On being knocked down] “There’s a first time for everything. I’m very thankful that I was able to get back up and keep fighting. I took a year off and I was able to go 12-rounds and I could have kept going.”

 

“E 'stata una dura lotta. He dropped me early because I was being lazy. I got my momentum late in the fight and I boxed consistently. I understand why with two knockdowns people felt he won the decision. I could have done better stasera. If my next fight is Peter Quillin.”

Speight delighted to secure Home Advantage

26 year old “The Genius” Jamie Speight has a wish come true on 16th Maggio 2015 when he co-headlines the massive Goodwin Boxing “Master Class” bill at York Hall defending his Southern Area Featherweight title against Ian Bailey.

 

“I am over the moon at signing with Steve Goodwin” said Jamie “With everything he has done for me so far I could not be happier. This is the first time in years I have not had to go on the road and be the away fighter and have waited to be promoted as the home fighter for so long”.

 

Speight has had an up and down career but being sent as the away fighter meant that to Speight he never had the rub of the green or the advantage given to other fighters. Only two years ago Speight took Josh Warrington the distance in Warrington’s back yard and then subsequently lost a contentious decision to Lewis Pettitt once again in the opponent’s corner.

 

Maggio 2014 and Speight once again was in the opponents corner when he stopped Craig Whyatt to win this belt he is now defending but now the time has come for Speight to enjoy home advantage.

 

“I just want a fair crack of the whip and with Steve now in control of my career I know I will get that. I need to win this title as the next day I am flying with the Goodwin team to Turkey for a training camp and that needs to be a celebration.” Speight added “My aim is the British title at Featherweight and provided I keep winning Steve has promised he will deliver that to me.”
