Mario Barrios Exicted About Making Rapid Return To The Ring 9/6 in Alabama

SAN ANTONIO, TX (September 17, 2015) – Undefeated super-featherweight sensation, Mario Barrios (11-0, 6 KOs), makes a rapid return to the ring as he will fight an opponent TBA on the Wilder vs. Duhaupas card, taking place at the Legacy Arena in Birmingham, Alabama, Hnub vas xaum, September 26.
This will be the third 8-round bout for the San Antonio, Texas native. In his last bout which took place on September 6th in Corpus, Christi, TX, Barrios scored an impressive fourth round TKO over Jose Cen Torres. A body shot to the liver ended the bout at the 2:10 mark of the round. Looking to stay active, Barrios is relishing at the opportunity to fight on another high profile card.
“This will be my second fight in September and I’m very pleased with the way my career is going.” said Mario Barrios. “I love staying active and I’m getting more comfortable in the ring with each fight. An American MMA fighter from Florida, Lee (13-4-0, 9 KO/TKO, 4 SUB) has been living in Thailand in order to help improve his Muay Thai skills. Lee will be making his M-1 Global debut versus Vasilevsky. Lee’s most notable victory, perhaps, is a knockout of M-1 Global veteran Luigi Fioravanti.
Also fighting on the card against an opponent to be determined is undefeated Russian light heavyweight Adam “Beard” Yandiev (8-0-0, 3 KO/TKO, 5 SUB), a rising MMA star who is a judo specialist. In his last fight at M 1 sib tw 58, Yandiev defeated previously undefeated (7-0-0) Valdas Pocevicius in the first round via a choke hold.

WAR OF WORDS ERUPTS OVER HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE FIGHT AT NEF XX
Lewiston, Maine (September 17, 2015) – New England Fights (NEF), America’s number-one regional fight promotion, will hold its next event, “NEF XX: A HISTORY OF VIOLENCE” rau Hnub vas xaum, November 21, 2015 at the Androscoggin Bank Colisée in Lewiston, Maine. The event will feature a first for Maine – mixed-martial-arts (MMA) bouts and professional boxing bouts on the same event with an MMA cage and a boxing ring set up side-by-side. As announced this past Hnub vas xaum night at “NEF XIX,” Billy “Bigfoot” Leahy (3-1) is scheduled to defend the NEF MMA Amateur Heavyweight Title that evening against the challenge of Dave Smith (2-0).
Leahy won the inaugural amateur heavyweight title at “NEF XVIII” this past June when he defeated Smith’s Berserkers MMA teammate Ryan Glover (2-1) via unanimous decision. Leahy’s decision to take time off from competing rather than to defend the title against number-one contender Smith at “NEF XIX” earlier this week was met with criticism from the Berserkers camp. The heavyweight champion splits time training between Central Maine Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (CMBJJ) in Auburn, Maine and Young’s MMA in Bangor, Maine.
“Berserkers wants to say I’m avoiding fights?” asked an enraged Leahy. “I’ll clean their whole damn gym out one-by-one. They want to come and try to take my belt from me? Good luck, I’ll see you in November.”
Dave Smith made his MMA debut this past spring at “NEF XVII” in Lewiston. That night, he defeated Sonny Spratt (0-2) by first-round technical knockout (TKO). He followed up that victory with another win at “NEF XVIII” in June. This time, it was Gravin Guillen (2-4) who fell to Smith in the first round by submission. Smith is confident that he will take the heavyweight title from Leahy on November 21 in Lewiston.
“First, I would like to thank everyone involved in making this fight happen,” said Smith. “I’m sure it wasn’t easy to get Billy to commit for November, he wouldn’t do it for September. I respect anyone who gets in the cage, including Mr. Leahy. I really hope he isn’t expecting a win. I say directly to Billy–get ready and bring my belt.”

Del Valle Inspired by Countrymen Oquendo and Martinez
Bayamon, Puerto Rico (September 15, 2015) – Last Saturday, featherweight contender Luis “Orlandito” Del Valle saw fellow Puerto Ricans Jonathan Oquendo and Ramon “Rocky” Martinez in exciting fights as part of the Floyd Mayweather-Andre Berto undercard.
Having lost three prior bouts against championship level fighters, Oquendo was out to prove that his fourth time would be a charm against two-division titlist Jhonny Gonzalez of Mexico. A considerable underdog, Oquendo overcame a first round knockdown to drop Gonzalez the very next round en route to an entertaining majority decision victory. The win was the biggest of his career and puts him in position for a world title shot.
Later that evening, Martinez defended his WBO Super Featherweight championship against Orlando Salido. Known among Puerto Rican fans for twice knocking out highly touted Juan Manuel Lopez, Salido won titles at 126 thiab 130 pounds and looked to avenge a prior loss against Martinez. In the third round, Salido scored a controversial knockdown but himself ended up on the canvas later in that stanza courtesy of a Martinez right hand. From there, Martinez and Salido showed why Puerto Rico vs Mexico is regarded as boxing’s best rivalry, going to war until the final bell. The fight was ruled a split draw and a third match will likely take place.
Like his countrymen Del Valle, 19-2, has had ups and downs in his career. Nyob rau hauv 2011, he scored a career best win against highly regarded Dat Nguyen to capture the NABA featherweight crown in New York City less than 24 hours before the Puerto Rican Day Parade. Unfortunately, his two defeats came on big stages against former two-division world champion Vic Darchinyan and more controversially to unbeaten contender Luis Rosa. Following the March 2014 setback against Rosa, Del Valle took time away from the ring and was granted a release from his promotional and managerial contracts. Understanding that he was in a tougher spot than a few years prior, he carefully evaluated his options.
This past March, Del Valle resurfaced by scoring an 8thround stoppage over gatekeeper Roberto Castaneda and signing with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation Sports. After the win, he entertained a few fight offers and is expecting to fight a few more times in 2015. The performance by his countrymen last Saturday night however put him in a whole different mindset when he went to the gym the next morning.
“I was extremely impressed by Rocky and Oquendo,” said Del Valle. “Both suffered multiple defeats but overcame them by performing on a huge stage last week. After watching the fights, I sat back and realized that could be me if given a similar opportunity. It truly inspired me to train harder because I want to make Puerto Rico proud!”
Without an official date set for his next match, Del Valle is hoping he receives a spot on Miguel Cotto-Saul “Canelo” Alvarez undercard and promises to excite if given the opportunity.
“Real boxing fans are more excited for Cotto-Canelo than any other fight this year including Mayweather-Pacquiao. That is going to be another great chapter in the Puerto Rico-Mexico rivalry. It’d be a dream come true to fight on that card against a top Mexican boxer. I’m eager to show the world that Orlandito is back and motivated!”

A two-way player (tight end and defensive end) at the University of Southern California, Washington spent time with the Seattle Seahawks and Buffalo Bills practice squads on his unconventional path that led him to boxing. The 33-year-old also worked in the Navy as a helicopter mechanic before going to USC and did not get his start in professional boxing until 2012. Fighting out of San Jose, California, he is yet to lose in his latest endeavor and most recently defeated Jason Gavern in March and will be facing his toughest competition against Mansour.
An exciting pressure fighter out of Wilmington, Delaware, Mansour looks for his third straight victory on October 13. The 43-year-old owns victories over Dominick Guinn, Epifanio Mendoza and Kelvin Price. His last two outings ended with an impressive knockout of Fred Kassi and a victory over Joey Dawejko.
Since turning professional in early 2013 following the London Olympic Games, the 27-year-old Hunter, fighting out of Las Vegas, NV, has continued to shine. With three victories in 2015, the last two by knockout he will be looking to march again into the win column.
