NEW YORK (Oct. 8, 2015) – Super middleweight world championJames DeGale (21-1, 14 KOs), of England, and former world championLucian Bute (32-2, 25 KOs), of Montreal, completed a two-city, two-country kickoff press conference Thursday in London to formally announce their Nov. 28 showdown in the main event of SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING® live on SHOWTIME from the Vidéotron Centre of Quebec City. There also was a press conference Hnub in Quebec City.

The event, billed as “THE RECLAMATION”, is a presentation of Vidéotron in collaboration with Mise-O-Jeu.

In the SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING co-feature, Tsis yog. 2 IBF light heavyweight Artur Beterbiev (9-0, 9 KOs), a former two-time Russian Olympian living in Montreal, will face an opponent to be announced.

SHOWTIME Sports® will also televise the light heavyweight world title eliminator between the WBC’s No. 1-ranked 175 pound fighter Isaac Chilemba (24-2-2, 10 KOs), of Malawi, and No. 2-ranked Eleider Alvarez (18-0, 10 KOs), a former Colombian Olympian who now lives in Montreal. The winner earns the right to become the mandatory challenger for WBC Light Heavyweight World Champion Adonis Stevenson.

Chilemba, who is based in South Africa, has won four consecutive fights, including a 10-round decision over Vasily Lepikhin in his last outing last Lub peb hlis ntuj 14 in Montreal.

The Montreal-based Alvarez has fought all but one of his 18 pro fights in Canada. He’s coming off a 12-round decision over Isidro Ranoni in a WBC Silver 175-pound title fight last Aug. 15 in Montreal.

Below is what DeGale and Bute and the executives had to say on Tuesday at the Videotron Centre in Quebec City and Thursday at Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium in London:

JAMES DEGALE

“I am excited to face an elite fighter like Lucian, who was champion for five years.

“He is still a good boxer and he told me he wants the belt back. But trust me; I am too young, too fresh and just too good.

“The way I’m feeling, mentally and physically, I’m in fantastic shape. It’s going to be very hard to beat me.

“My journey is only just starting, his is about to end in November.

“The way I am training, nobody will beat me. You can see my character just by the fact I accepted to come here and take that fight. Be ready for a furious and spectacular fight.

“There is no one in this division who can beat me. I’m willing to box anyone. I want to fight all the big fighters in the biggest fights.”

LUCIAN BUTE

“I am really happy to be back in Quebec City. Some of my best memories are here. I won four fights here. Six years ago, Nov. 28, 2009, the same day I will fight James DeGale, I knocked out Librado Andrade. And I also defeated Glen Johnson in Quebec City.

“DeGale is a great champion, but to come here to face me in my hometown, in front of 15,000 people, it won’t be easy for him. I am the challenger, I am the underdog, and he is the champion, but the pressure is on him.

“The past is in the past. I feel fresh. I have a new team and different people behind me. This opportunity is huge for me.

“I had the belt for five years and on Nov. 28, I will be the new world champion. I am very confident about this.

“I dealt with this when I faced Carl Froch in England.

“My dream is to regain my world title. I always believe in myself and in my tools. The belt will remain in Quebec.”

HOWARD GRANT (Bute’s head trainer)

“My job is simple: I have to prepare Lucian to win the title. British fighters were always dominant in the 160-pound and 168-pound divisions.

“DeGale is explosive, he won at the Olympic Games in 2008, and a World Championship in the United States, but that won’t work Nov. 28.

JIM MCDONNELL (DeGale’s head trainer)

James is different. He did everything on the rough path: being an Olympic champion, winning the British title in his ninth fight and becoming world champion in the United States. The more pressure he has, the better he is.

“I never knew anybody like him before. He can’t be intimidated. James respects Bute, but they say when you win a title, you get better. It will be frightening.”

JEAN BÉDARD

It’s going to be a fun night. I have two great defining moments in my 10 years in the boxing world. The first one was Oct. 19, 2007, when Lucian became world champion live on TVA (Quebec TV channel) thiab Nov. 28, 2009, in front of a jam-packed crowd of 16,000 fans at the Québec Coliseum when Lucian beat Librado Andrade. Now, six years later, we are ready for a historic date.

YVON MICHEL

“No champion in Quebec’s boxing history ever regained a world title after losing it. The task will be hard because DeGale is very skilled and brave. He won his title in the United States, far from his home. Still, we root for Lucian Bute 100 percent. We have a 12,000-seat stadium configuration in the brand new Vidéotron Centre and we had already brought more people before for some of Lucian’s fights. We are convinced that Quebec’s boxing fans will also root for Lucian.”

Tickets will go on sale this Hnub vas xaum, October 10 at the Vidéotron Centre box office, rau www.ticketmaster.ca, at GYM (514) 383-0666, at InterBox (450) 645-1077 or at Champion boxing club (514) 376-0980.

See here what the participants had to say Hnub peb:
DANNY O’CONNOR
This is all about me fighting the process. Gabriel Bracero beat me but I really beat myself. Just like training for this fight, we had a baby son. Two weeks before our first fight, my first son was born and I didn’t know how to separate sport from such life-changing events. I was 14-0 and fighting on Showtime. We just had a baby boy two weeks before this fight. I want to prove to myself that I can beat this process. Bracero is my redemption!
This fight is me vs. me. The time was right for this fight. I was offered this fight five times during the past few years but the time wasn’t right.
I was a scared little kid with no experience in our first fight. I couldn’t handle the pressure, I didn’t even know it was there. Now, I’m a mature man who is a husband and father. I’m a totally different person.
This fight could be in my living room. I’m at peace in the ring doing what I love to do. It’s great being back in the ring in Lowell, where I won the New England Golden Gloves title and I’m fighting on national TV, but the event is between the four corners and that’s what really counts.
GABRIEL BRACERO
I’m excited. I’ve trained for this fight like I’ve never fought Danny before. I beat him but that was four years ago. I can’t overlook him. He has obviously made improvements and I did also to get where we are today.
I’m more experienced. I moved to train in Orlando and get away from distractions. I hit a few bumps and got incarcerated. Tommy Gallagher (trainer) saved my lie. He was there when I went to prison and there when I got out. I added a new trainer to our corner, Alexander Lopes, but Tommy and my father, Kiro, are still there. Tommy gives the orders and he likes what Lopez has done with me.
Tommy Gallagher is my guardian angel. He believed in me more than I believed in myself. He had this vision before I did.
Danny has become a better fighter. I can’t take anything away from him, but I’m looking forward to putting on a spectacular performance Hnub vas xaum night.
JONATHAN GUZMAN
I’m going to make it 20-for-20, yes! I’m powerful because I make strong moves. My left hook is my best punch. I can feel the power through my entire body when I hit somebody right.
I don’t worry about my opponent or what he’s done in the past.
Lawrence is my home now. I will go back to the Dominican Republic in December for the holidays. I feel like a Bostonian. This is the sixth fight I’ve trained here for and I love the Boston Red Sox.
DANNY AQUINO
My last fight propelled me (upset by decision over Ryan Kielczweski). It made me more confident in myself. My last fight was on ESPN and this one is on NBCSN.
I don’t know too much about my opponent other than he has power that I’ll be looking out for. A win over him should put me in the top 10 and that’s why I’m so motivated for this fight.
I won the New England Golden Gloves championship in Lowell Memorial Auditorium in 2007.
I train hard and I’m always in good enough shape to beat anybody.
RYAN KIELCZWESKI
I like fighting at home and this is one of my favorite venues. I won the New England Golden Gloves there twice.
I’ve trained for this to be the toughest fight of my career.
“(Vasquez) is tough with a lot of power. He’s going come forward, but I’ll be able to out-box him.
He’s rated in the top 10 of the world and a win should put me back in the top 10 fighting for a world title within the next year.
RAFAEL VASQUEZ
This is a great opportunity for me. I think this fight will put me on the map fighting on national TV and showing fans what I’ve got.
I’m a hungry, small fighter determined to win. I fight for my wife, Sandra, who has stage-four cancer and my eight-year-old daughter, Kaline, who has autism. It’s not just me fighting in the ring, it’s the Vasquez family. With God’s grace, anything is possible.
Ryan moves a lot. He uses the ring and boxes. He lost to Aquino and I know he’ll be coming back to prove himself. “
GARYSPIKEO’SULLIVAN
Boston is my second home. I love it here. The people are so nice and there are good gyms.
I’m an exciting, entertaining fighter who always comes to fight.
After I finish off Eubanks, I’ll be the No. 1 contender in the WBA and Golovkin can’t hold me off any longer.
I watched a few clips of my opponent. We have identical records. We both knock people out, so I have to be careful. I’d like to get in a few rounds, but when I hit people, they fall.
STEPHEN ORMOND
My first four fights were here in the US. Boston is like my second home. The people are so nice. Boston is a real fight city. I can’t wait for these people to see me in the ring.
I saw my opponent fight last year in Boston. He’s an experienced guy with a lot of fights. He fought for a world title a long time ago.
With Ken Casey behind me, an impressive victory will get me a title shot. I’ll take any of them. I was one fight away, losing a qualifier. My grandmother passed away the day of my fight. I’m ready now!”

Ahmed Elbiali, who boosts a 92% knockout ratio, is a few days away from his nationally televised showdown with Ferenc Albert. Hailing from Miami, Florida, Elbiali speaks on his training camp, boxing career and more. Here’s what he had to say.
On facing his opponent Ferenc Albert
I don’t really know much about Ferenc Albert, except for the fact that he’s on a ten-fight winning streak. I know he’s been extremely busy this year, fighting in twelve bouts so far this year. I know he’s coming into this fight with a lot of confidence so this is no easy fight for me. This will be a great fight for the fans because both of us are gunning for a victory.
On having his fight televised live on Premier Boxing ChampionsToe-to-Toe Tuesdayson Fox Sports
Fighting on the PBC on Fox Sports cards has been great for my career. I’m constantly staying busy and I’m learning what it takes to fight on a regular basis. The exposure I’m receiving is really getting the fans familiar with my fighting style. Since I’m an aggressive fighter, theToe-to-Tuesdaystitle fits me well. I’m always going to be letting my hands go, throwing big bombs, trying to get my opponent out of there. Fans in general want to see the knockout, and that’s what I try to deliver every time I step into the ring.
On his relationship with longtime Trainer Carlos Albuerne
I’ve been with Carlos since my last fight as an amateur. We have a great relationship and I respect him as a coach. He’s got a lot of knowledge. Together we make a great team and he knows how to get the best out of me. He’s always told me that I have the punching power to become a world champion. I’m grateful to have him in my corner.
On his progression as a professional fighter
With each fight I’m learning something new. I know as my career moves along there will be times when I will have to go into deep waters, so I’m continuously working on my boxing skills. Right now I’ve been fortunate to get some early knockouts, but I train to fight twelve rounds. I’m evolving as a fighter and pretty soon I’ll be better-rounded with my boxing abilities.
On working at the training facilityFast Twitchin Miami
Fast Twitchis a state of the art facility with great strength and conditioning coaches. I’ve gained a lot of endurance training there and my stamina is always peaking on fight night. With the training I’m getting atFast Twitch”, I’m always on weight. I love the fact that I’m getting top notch nutrition there as well. It’s a great place to train if you’re a professional athlete.

NEW YORK, N.Y. (Oct. 7, 2015) –WBA Middleweight World Champion Daniel “Tus txiv neej Miracle” Jacobs (30-1, 27 KOs)and former world champion PeterKid ChocolateQuillin (32-0-1, 23 KOs)participated in a kickoff press conference on Wednesday at Planet Hollywood Times Squarein New York City to formally announce their highly anticipated Dec. 5 showdown in the main event ofSHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING live on SHOWTIMEntawm Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
The undercard for the Brooklyn showdown will be announced soon.
Below is what the fighters and executives had to say today:
DANIAS JACOBS
This is a big opportunity for me. This is a big opportunity for Brooklyn. It could not have happened at a better time. I’ve been calling him out for two years, but it had to take that time to build and for our careers to blossom.
The fans will be the winners at the end of the day. This matchup is going to be all action-packed. It’s a very interesting matchup.
I’m thankful to Peter for accepting the challenge and for giving me the opportunity to have a career-changing fight.
I believe my time is now. I know there was hype around me as a prospect. People have their opinions about me, but I believe at this present time that I’ve matured as a man overall. I’m in my prime.
To me, this fight means everything to Brooklyn. This is a thick-skinned city that was raised on fighting. You always had to defend yourself. We have that pride of having great fighters that come from here and I’m fortunate enough to be that champion to continue the legacy.
I feel like this fight has a lot of significance to it, not just in New York, but to the sport of boxing in general. A lot of people have been asking for this fight, and now that it’s here, you will see a tremendous amount of attention surrounding it.
I think youth is everything in the sport of boxing. Although Quillin is older than I am, he has that experience and power that he will bring into the ring. Anything can happen in this sport.
I am such a fan of this particular fight, this fight is going to be an amazing fight.
Just because Peter has flaws in one area, he can back that up with a one-punch knockout, so you always have to be prepared for that.
Peter’s flaws are that he loads up his shots too much, is slow on his feet and isn’t headstrong. If I can execute the game plan I think it will be a phenomenal outcome.
We adopted Peter as one of Brooklyn’s own, but come fight night you will all see a Brooklyn-born champion.
It doesn’t matter what he comes to the table with, we will have a 10-week camp for this fight and we will be completely ready.
I’ve been on a strict diet, I haven’t been eating chocolate. But after December 5th, I’m going to be the Cookie Monster, don’t miss it.
PETER QUILLIN
This fight means everything to me. It’s two guys for the battle of Brooklyn. We are both going to have great support in the building and this fight will really inspire people.
In New York City you never get to see two guys at this level of boxing square off against one another. It means a lot and I’m very excited about this fight.
I expect Danny to bring his great chin to this fight. I didn’t notice it before but his chin looks very huge, so that’s what we’re looking at now.
I feel like I’m the son of Brooklyn. Although I’m from Michigan, this city has taken me in like I’m one of their own. You see what Las Vegas did for Floyd Mayweather, that’s what Brooklyn did for me.
This is a good guy vs. good guy fight and it’s good for the sport of boxing. I’m coming to throw bombs. It’s not about the bills. It’s about the character of the person I’m fighting. This is the type of fight that is going to bring the best out of Peter Quillin.
I lead a very healthy lifestyle and train even when I’m not preparing for a fight. I keep myself as young as possible.
You’re going to see Fourth of July in the month of December. We’re going to melt some snow.
BRETT YORMARK, CEO of Barclays Center
When I think of Barclays Center now, we truly are in the big event business.
When I think about the remainder of 2015, there were two dates on my calendar and one of them is Battle for Brooklyn on Dec. 5. The two gentlemen up here are part of the Barclays Center. This is their home away from home. There is no place better for them to be getting it on.
I want to make sure we put on a great show for the fans in Brooklyn. We’re excited to see all the fans on Dec. 5.”
LOU DIBELLA, President of DiBella Entertainment
Barclays Center has become the home of boxing and one of the great places to watch boxing right now.
I promise you, this will be the undercard of the year. It’s going to be the most interesting undercard of the year. Get your tickets now.
SHOWTIME has developed both of these young men. These two champions both made their names as SHOWTIME fighters. This fight will properly end the year on SHOWTIME.
I’ve known both of these young men since they were kids. They are terrific men and a true credit to the sport. These guys have always gotten along, they respect each other as fighters, but there is a true belief on both their parts that they are the best.
Take all the friendship and throw it out the window. This is going to be nasty. This is going to be brutal. There will be boxing but these guys will throw bombs. They can’t help themselves, that’s what makes them so great.
The winner of this could be a superstar.
This fight is to show who the man in town is. The winner will own Brooklyn. If you’re the man in Brooklyn, you’re the man. This will be a fight of the year candidate, no doubt.
I expect both men to go down. The fans will be on their feet the whole time. This is a can’t miss fight between two evenly matched champions and guys who want and need this victory.
STEPHEN ESPINOZA, Executive Vice President & General Manager, SHOWTIME Sports
We’re thrilled to be working with DBE and Barclays Center on this event. You’re going to hear a lot of genuine excitement because this is the right fight, at the right venue and at the right time.
Brett [Yormark] has turned Barclays Center into the home of boxing on the East Coast.
We take a great amount of pride in these two young men, because they are everything that is right with the sport.
They’re very different young men with fascinating stories. They’ve both overcome incredible odds. Their roads led them to each other. It will be hard for us to choose who to root for because these are two great young men and great boxers.

Televised coverage begins with more undefeated prospects as Javontae Starks (13-0, 7 KOs) thiab SamuelEl Macho” Figueroa (9-0, 4 KOs) square off in eight rounds of welterweight action.
It’s great to be fighting on PBC on Bounce in a heavyweight fight like this,” Thompson hais. “I’m not looking past Malik Scott because he’s an experienced and crafty fighter. I think most fighters will stay away from a style like Malik’s but everyone knows I will fight anyone. I’ll be looking to make a statement against him by pressing the action and keeping him out of his comfort zone.
I’m very thankful for this opportunity and ready to put on a great performance,” said Scott. “It was exactly one year ago on this date, October 30, that I went to Australia and beat Alex Leapai and I look forward to getting in the ring and putting on a show against Tony Thompson. Tony is a world-class fighter and a victory over him will lead to bigger and better things for me.
One of the most experienced fighters in the heavyweight division, Thompson, has twice challenged Wladimir Klitschko in his 15-year career. Born in Silver Spring, Maryland but fighting out of Washington, D.C., Thompson comes off of a victory over Odlanier Solis in February, his second over the heavyweight contender since 2014. He also owns a pair of victories over heralded heavyweight David Price, whom he stopped twice fighting in his opponent’s home country.
An accomplished heavyweight from Philadelphia, Scott has also fought professionally since 2000 and reeled off 35-straight wins to start his professional career. His most recent victory was perhaps his most impressive as he traveled to Australia and defeated Alex Lepeai. The 34-year-old also owns a final-round stoppage of Bowie Tupou in 2012 and fought undefeated Vyacheslav Glazkov to a draw in 2013.
A multi-sport athlete who has competed in both boxing and mixed martial arts professionally, Oklahoma City’s Rhodes looks to remain unbeaten on October 30. The 27-year-old is coming off of a competitive split-draw with Jared Robinson in June. Before that fight, Rhodes recorded four victories in 2014 including triumphs over Miguel Angel Huerta and John Nater.
An accomplished amateur who was born in Kazakhstan but fights out of Russia, Lipinets turned pro in April of last year with a decision victory over Franklin Varela. The 26-year-old has recorded six-straight knockouts since then, with his most recent victories coming over veterans Kendal Mena and Cosme Rivera. Lipinets will fight in the U.S. for the fourth time on October 30.
Fighting out of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Starks racked up an impressive 98-16 amateur record before turning pro in 2009. The 26-year-old has ramped up the activity since 2014, recording seven victories including wins over Carlos Galvan and Jeremiah Wiggins in 2015.
Fresh off a September victory over previously unbeaten Fernando Paliza, the 24-year-old Figueroa makes a quick return to the ring looking to build off of that success. The Puerto Rican-born fighter turned pro in 2011 and recorded stoppage wins in four of his first six fights.
